Work Text:

Optimus and Megatron were always together, it was rare to see them apart. Not impossible, of course. But usually caused by a worst-case scenario. That, or their need for rest... G.H.O.S.T. (despite their shady nature) had been kind enough to offer them two separate rooms. It was small, but for what it was worth it was viable. To a certain degree. Small but livable. Neither Optimus nor Megatron would complain about it. There was no room for complaining, at least about their living spaces. It wasn't a big deal compared to everything else. Optimus and Megatron still made their relationship work behind closed G.H.O.S.T. doors despite sleeping in rooms across the corridor from each other. All of that was then shattered when Arcee, Wheeljack, and Grimlock started staying at G.H.O.S.T. headquarters.

"Optimus and Megatron, please come to sector 7 room 3. We need to have a discussion." The intercom voice echoed through the cold hallways of G.H.O.S.T. It was Agent Croft. Again. "Someone's in trouble." Elita laughed. "Must have something to nitpick again..." Megatron could only sigh. Croft had been consistently treating Megatron more as a pet doing whatever dirty work she didn't feel like participating in. It was frustrating to be treated this way, especially with the type of dirty work he was forced to do. Optimus shook his shoulder, jolting him out of his sulking. "Let us go, she'll be even more upset if we keep her waiting." He said. He tried to smile but it was evident that neither did he enjoy her long winded rants criticizing every detail of everything they've done on their missions.

Though they put their thoughts on the manner to the side and made their way down to where they were asked. "You called?" Optimus asked. Agent Croft was focused on instructing her workers to locating another poor Decepticon that dared to make their presence known. Megatron shuddered. Croft turned around. "Due to more Autobots living on G.H.O.S.T. grounds we've had to relocate your room, Megatron." She said bluntly. "What? I was not informed on this. Where am I going to stay?" Megatron said. He tried desperately to hide his anger; Agent Croft reached a new low with her disrespect towards bots. Especially Megatron. "Your room was the only remaining one that was big enough for Grimlock to fit. You can stay with Optimus in his room." She added. She went to turn and go back to barking orders before Optimus spoke up.

"Excuse my ignorance, Agent Croft." Optimus put a servo up, Megatron scoffed. "Ignorance..." He mumbled under his breath. "Ahem- I think it's important to notify your coworkers before suddenly moving them after years of staying in the same area..." Croft just raised an eyebrow. "I also must add that the rooms can only fit one bot. It was small with just me, I can only imagine how it would be with Megatron as well." Optimus said. "I'm sure you two can make it work. We can't have an Autobot living off grounds, can we?" Agent Croft put on a smile, with intent to end the conversation. "Certainly not." Optimus sighed. "Have my things been relocated? I would prefer to do that myself." Megatron asked. "The other agents have put your belongings into Optimus' room. You just have to place what little you have where you like." Finally, Agent Croft turned back around and continued supervising.

"Fantastic." Megatron crossed his arms and stomped out of the room. Optimus chased after him. "This is ridiculous. She is just trying to make things more difficult for us." Megatron grumbled. Optimus hesitated. He wanted to comfort him, but the two had their own rule of not showing affection anywhere a G.H.O.S.T. agent could see them. The business was demanding enough without adding on their relationship into the mix. Croft wouldn't be happy with it. Then again, she wasn't happy with anything. Optimus put a gentle servo on his conjunx. "I'm sure it will be fine. Let me help you set everything up." He said. Megatron sighed. He much preferred Optimus' voice over Crofts berating by a long shot.

"There isn't much, but I suppose you can." He laughed. Megatron followed Optimus to their now shared room. It didn't bare much difference to his. He's been in here countless times but never gave it much thought, he had to now that it was going to be his room as well. It was as blank as his, just a bed and a desk with a few wooden boxes. It was quite hard for the humans to make accommodations to transformers without it taking days due to their compared stature. Humans were just so small. "Where should I put your photo of you and Dorothy?" Optimus asked. "Oh, just somewhere on the desk." Optimus nodded and did so. Something extra seemed to be on Megatron's mind. "Is something wrong?" Optimus tilted his helm. "Is my room not to your liking?" "It isn't that." Megatron replied. Vague. "I can't help you if you're going to be mysterious. Do you detest the thought of sharing a room that much?" Optimus rolled his optics. "You know that isn't the reason."

"Just wanted to hear you say it." Optimus smiled. "But really, what is the problem? Did they forget something?" A light blush blossomed on Megatron's face. "Well- um..." He pointed a digit at the bed. "There's only one berth..." Realization washed over Optimus. "Oh." At their point in their relationship, it was a silly thing to be bashful at. It's more than common for couples to share a berth, but due to their business situation they never had the chance. "Grimlock needs one too I suppose..." Optimus said. "Of course." Megatron added. Even if the other bed was brought in there would be impossible to get around in the room. Accommodations had to be made, unfortunately.

"I- I'm sure it will be fine!" Optimus waved his servo. "Can it even fit the two of us?" Megatron asked. "You want to try?" "Rest is important, Prime." Optimus disregarded the comment and lied down on the bed, holding his arms out. "Come here." Megatron's blush grew. "Stop that." He said right before immediately coming to lay in Optimus' arms. "See? We can both fit. Problem solved." Optimus nuzzled his helm against Megatron's. "I'm laying on top of you. Of course I'd fit." Megatron said. He too got comfortable; he couldn't help it. Not with Optimus holding him so sweetly. "Is this not a preferred way for you to be in stasis?" "It most definitely is." Megatron shifted to kiss Optimus. "I could be here forever." He added. "As could I."
