Chapter Text

It was another hot day for them. The sun was out in the sky at full display with the scorching heat beating into the Earth’s surface. “Jesus Christ, this summer heat is killing me…” He spoke to themself while they took a sip at their water bottle. The heat was too much to bear and they were still another mile away from home. Not wanting to continue to walk under the sun, he searched for a nearby tree to rest under its shadow for a while. “Hopefully this will help.” The teenager closed their eyes and drifted to sleep.

30 minutes later, they slowly opened their eyes and took a big yawn. “How long was I sleeping?” He asked himself as they looked around. That’s when he noticed that they’re no longer at the same spot they were at. “Hey wait a minute…” He was completely baffled by the fact that they’re no longer at an area they’re familiar with but rather at an unknown forest. “Where the hell am I at?” The teenager began to wander through the forest while holding onto their backpack. He would spot some of the creatures that were familiar to the ones he’d seen before but some being completely different. “Am I still on Earth?” He taps his pockets only to feel nothing inside of them. “Damnit! If only I hadn’t broken it days ago!” They would then hear shuffling in the bushes.

Completely cautious, the teenager takes a couple steps backwards, awaiting for whatever is about to emerge from the bushes. Then another person would step out, wearing clothes and armor decorated in black, blue, and gold. His appearance was that he was in his early 20’s, skin appeared to be tan, hair being grayish, and having purple eyes. “Did it work?” He asks as the teenager was completely confused.

”Um…” He was lost for words with only questions being in his mind, “Who are you? What is happening? But most importantly, where am I?”

”Ah, my apologies!” The tanned man clears his throat and begins introducing himself to them, “My name is Bruno, and I am the one who was responsible for summoning you to Midgard from your home world.”

“Wait, summoned?” Bruno looks at them and nods as they were still confused. “What do you mean summoned?! Like I just appeared out of thin air?!”

Bruno happily nods, “That’s correct! And listen, there is actually a reason why I- Or well, we summoned you.”

”We?” He asks.

”Well you see, both the Kingdom of Askr and the Republic of Embla have been at constant war ever since the foundations of the two nations were established. For centuries, the former would ignite a war against the latter and this conflict is no different! The Askrans are invading other nations on this continent-”

”And this continent being?”

”Zenith.” Bruno answers him, “And many of these smaller nations have been invaded and annexed. We’ve tried to liberate as many as we can but they make portals to sneak past our defenses. We close those portals to halt their advances. Rinse and repeat.”

They then asked another question, “But what does that have to do with summoning me?”

Bruno smiles, “Glad you asked! You see, just recently the President had made a request to my cousin, who is the Secretary for Defense, that she needs to summon someone from another world to aid us against our aggressors.” He then squints his lavender eyes at the teenager, “Although they didn’t say that you would have been a kid. Anyways, do you understand what I had just said?”

He nervously laughs and starts to say something, “Hey uh… can you repeat that part again?”

“Which part?” Bruno asks with curiosity.

”Like you know everything after you had said that this continent is Zenith, which doesn’t exist in my world.” He tells him and he gets a response where Bruno puts his fingers on his chin.

After minutes Bruno of repeating and explaining everything to him, he finally understands it. “I see now. So your President made a request to your cousin and in turn asked you to summon me?” He nods at him, “By the way, what’s their name?”

”My cousin’s name is Letizia. Actually speaking of names, what’s your name?” Bruno asks.

”Oh, my apologies my name is […].” He tells him.

Bruno cringes after he was given their name, “Oh um… That is certainly a name. It sounds like your parents hated you enough to the point where they gave you that name. I would rather caller you Kiran since your name doesn’t sound natural in our world.”

The teenager was quite offended after hearing that. But he ultimately agrees, “I guess I’ll be adopting Kiran as my name now. Plus you have a point, it sounds off in this world.”

Brunos cheers, “That’s excellent! Welcome to Midgard, Kiran! What we’re going to do is-” A loud explosion could be heard in the distance. “Oh no.” Bruno starts running with him getting his books out. “They’re here!”

“Who’s here?” Kiran asks.

”The Askrans.” Without much question, Kiran follows Bruno and the two of them would see the Emblian Scout Party engaged in a fight against the Askran aggressors. Bruno pulls out a weapon from his coat and hands it to him, “Here!”

Kiran takes it from him and asks, “Wait, what is this?”

”That is the Breidablik! Legends has it that it can summon Heroes from other worlds!” Bruno explains to him.

”What Heroes?”

”Just help us!” Bruno drags Kiran to his very first fight in this whole new world.

Chapter Text

Bruno and Kiran walked towards the small battlefield that lies before them. “So wait,” Kiran spoke, “How does this ‘Breidablik’ work?” He wouldn’t get his answer immediately as the two of them had to dodge one of the spells coming from one of the Askran Soldiers.

”You need to pull the trigger on that and one of the two things will happen-” Bruno dodges one of the arrows, “Either a powerful blast would come out of it or you’ll summon a hero from another world!” They kept dodging from the attacking Askrans with both of them being knocked to the ground. “AGH!” He shouted from the pain with some of the Emblian Scouts coming to his aid along with a little girl running to him.

”Bruno, are you okay?!” She asks him filled with worry then looks at Kiran who’s currently lying on the ground, “Uh, who are they?”

Bruno gets back onto his feet then spoke to his adoptive sister, “Their name is Kiran, Veronica. I just summoned them and he’s going to help us!”

Veronica takes a look at Kiran then back to her brother, “Bruno, are you sure they’re going to be able to help us?”

”Yes I am sure, Veronica!” He confidently crosses his arms and continues talking, “I had to explain to him about the current situation we’re facing and the history behind it. Albeit it took a while for him to understand it…”

The girl lets out an annoyed sigh just as another spell passes by them. The group quickly searched for cover with her speaking again, “I guess we’ll have to work with you then! Let’s see what good you’re worth, Kiran!”

”I don’t even know what I am capable of doing at all!” Kiran shouts at her.

Veronica looks at Bruno, “We are completely doomed.” She peeks out to see the Askran infantry advancing towards the outnumbered Emblians. “BRUNO!” Veronica shouted at him.

”Hold on!” Bruno casts an Ice Wall slowing down their advancement for a short moment. “Kiran,” The teenager looked at him, “Pull the trigger now!”

Kiran looked towards their direction and took in a deep breath, “God help me.” He spoke to himself as he pulled the trigger and a large burst of energy was emitted from the weapon. He along with the other Emblians were knocked backwards with the blast hitting the Ice Wall. The shockwave from the blast has also knocked down the Askran Soldiers. When everyone was getting back onto their feet they saw another figure at where the blast impact was. “Huh?” Kiran looked at them.

Bruno, Veronica, and the Emblians were all shocked that a Hero was successfully summoned right before their very own eyes. “Impossible…” Veronica was completely star struck as the Hero in question was the Hero King himself, Marth.

”Where am I?” Marth asks while looking around and spots the Emblians and Kiran. He would quickly focus his attention on one of the Askran Soldiers as they tried to attack him. “Not on my watch!” Marth quickly slays them with him also backing towards the Emblians, “I can assume that I am fighting for you uh…”

”We are Emblians, trying to defend our home from our enemies!” Veronica quickly informs the Hero King.

”Right!” Marth continues, “Now how did I get here is the true question I have.”

All of the Emblians pointed directly at Kiran as he nervously smiled at Marth. “I don’t know how but this thing I have in my hands had summoned you.” Kiran tries his best to explain to the Hero King.

“I see…” Marth responds to him. They were suddenly attacked by more Askrans that are still present. The Hero King then points his Falchion towards the aggressors. Kiran and the Emblians leapt into battle with Bruno and Veronica casting spells against their enemies. The Emblian Soldiers clashed with their Askran counterparts.

As the battle rages on, Kiran looks towards the other side of the battlefield and sees another group of teenagers. One of them being a boy with blue hair, another being a girl who’s blonde, and another girl with red hair. “Come on you worthless slugs!” The redhead shouted at them, “The Emblians are pushing us back! We cannot let them kick us out!”

”Brother, I’m trying my best to open up the gateways for our soldiers to cross over to Embla but it seems like our powers have been compromised!” The blonde spoke to her brother.

”We must hold the line until reinforcements arrive! And if we fail, father would not take this defeat kindly…” He boy replies to her.

Kiran looks over at Bruno and Veronica, “Uh, do you mind if I ask you two a question? Who are they?” He asks while pointing at the trio.

Veronica looks towards that direction and begins speaking to Kiran, “They’re Askrans! But specifically, the redhead is Anna Commander of the Askran Army and part time Mercenary! The other two are siblings and the Prince and Princess of Askr! Alfonse is the one with blue hair and Sharena is the blonde one!” She explains to him. The three of them looked at them while the two forces were focused on each other. “Bruno, should we fight them head on?” Veronica asks her brother.

”Yeah.” He gave her a simple answer as he pulls out his Tome, “Let’s make sure these brats get what they deserve!” Kiran pulls the Breidablik as he was fighting with his hands and Veronica pulling out her Tome as well and the three of them charged at the Askrans.

More Askran soldiers were falling and Alfonse was getting frustrated, “ANNA, WHY ARE WE FAILING?!” He shouts at his Commander. The Prince would get his answer as he looks at the fight and spots Marth, “The Hero King was summoned? But how-” Alfonse then sees Kiran as he along with his new Emblian allies. “Them.” Without any second thoughts, Alfonse pulls out his sword and shield and charges at them.

“Alfonse, wait!” Sharena grabs her own lance and shield and follows her brother. 

Anna grabs her axe and lets out an annoyed sigh, “I can’t believe I was put on babysitting duty by the king…” She too follows Alfonse.

The two groups of three clashed and their skirmish has begun. Anna swings her axe at Kiran with him jumping backwards and firing a small blast at where she stood. Anna was knocked backwards from the impact and lands on her back.

Sharena wasn’t fairing any better as she fails to land any hits on Bruno with her lance. He makes quick work of the Princess by using some ice spells to freeze the ground below her. This caused Sharena to start slipping and falling to the ground with Bruno picking her up by her armor, “LET ME GO-” Sharena shots at him only to be met with a punch that sent her flying away from him.

The three of them would then be surrounded by Askran soldiers. Kiran tries his best to fend them off only for Alfonse to pin him towards the ground, “YOU AREN’T SUPPOSED TO BE HERE!” Alfonse shouts at him.

”YEAH I KNOW! I WAS SUMMONED HERE AGAINST MY OWN WILL!” Kiran shouts back at him.

”Then let me take you off of the face of this world!” Alfonse raises his sword only for him to be hit by magic.

Kiran lets out a gasp and looks at Veronica, “He’s mines to deal with!” She casts more spells towards the Prince. The wind spells were starting to overwhelm Alfonse as he’s knocked to the ground. Veronica then starts preforming a powerful spell, “AND STAY OUT OF MY COUNTRY, INVADERS!” With a flick of her wrist, Alfonse, Sharena, and Anna were flown out of Embla across the border and back to Askr.

The three of them had a rough impact with Alfonse crying the most from the pain. The remaining Askran soldiers started retreating and picked them up. The Prince started throwing a tantrum and shouts at Veronica directly, “THIS ISN’T THE LAST TIME YOU HAVE SEEN US, EMBLIANS! I WILL BE BACK TO FIX MY ERRORS!” They are now out of sight from the Emblians.

All of them cheered while Kiran was still processing about what had happened. Bruno was preoccupied with Marth and he would feel his clothes being tugged by Veronica, “Are you alright?” She asks him.

”I…” Kiran couldn’t find his own words, “I don’t know. This is too much to handle. At one minute, I was resting under a tree back at home. And the next I wake up in a completely different world.”

”Yeah… Sorry about that.” The girl swipes the dust off of him. “I’m assuming that Bruno had explained what was happening right?” Kiran nods at her. “Good. But there’s more to the story-”

Before Veronica can say anything else, a woman in a silhouette of green, blue, and gold and wearing black makeup arrived with horses and spoke to them, “Everyone, the inauguration is about to begin in a few hours! We must return to the capital and-” She pauses and looks at not only Marth but also Kiran. “Hold on, aren’t you the Great Hero that Bruno said that he’ll summon?”

Kiran looks at Bruno and tilts his head, “Wait who is she?”

”Ah, my apologies, I forgot about my manners! My name is Letizia and I am the Secretary of Defense for the Republic of Embla!” Letizia hops off of her horse and offers him her hand, “Pretty sure my cousin had told you about me?”

Kiran starts blushing from the embarrassment, “Oh my God! I’m sorry that I didn’t know it was you!” He gently shakes her hand and continues talking, “So your President has ordered you to summon me? Which you-”

”Asked Bruno to summon you. Yep. But now he’s about to be the Former President of Embla! Oh and speaking of that, we need to go now!” Letizia returns back to her horse and spoke to Bruno and Veronica, “You two need to get ready as well! Your parents want you two to be there as it starts! Oh and Marth, I’ll be taking you to the headquarters for the Order of Heroes! There’s a lot of spots to be filled!”

”With honor!” Marth and the other Emblians followed Letizia on horseback with Kiran riding with Bruno back to the capital.
