Chapter Text

The Madrigals sat at the table, eating breakfast. The day was bright and sunny, everyone was on their break for the weekend.

Everyone but Dolores and Mirabel, no one questioned it perhaps the two were sleeping in.

“What’s everyone’s plans for the day?” Julieta asked, as she sipped her coffee.

”I’m making a new telenovelas.” Bruno said. “It’ll be the best one yet.”

”Isn’t that what you said about the zombie apocalypse one?” Pepa asked.

“Yes, but not the point.” Bruno said. “It came to me in a dream.”

“And how was that?” Julieta smiled.

“It came to be bits and pieces, I can’t remember it all but it’ll come to me.” Bruno grinned. “My rats will be busy all summer.”

“I still don’t understand how they can dance.” Camilo muttered. “Their rats.”

“Smart ones.” Isabela said with a shrug. “But yeah I find that confusing.”

“They're special.” Bruno said with a huff.

A door was heard slamming open everyone flinched and turned to see what the commotion was.

“Let me go!”

“Mamí knows, Mamí knows.”

“Someone help me!”

“So fussy.”

Everyone blinked, Dolores came downstairs holding Mirabel in her arms.

Everyone stared at Mirabel who was flustered in the face and trying to hide away.

“Hola familia.” Dolores greeted with a smile. “Mira was being a little fussy this morning.”

“Guys, she’s gone insane.” Mirabel whispered. “Insane!”

“There there.” Dolores patted Mirabel’s back.

They could only stare at Mirabel’s outfit, she was wearing Dolores’s color red. A red dress, a red bow to match and red socks.

It was silent until Camilo broke it with a snicker.

Then all the grandchildren broke out into laughter, Mirabel groaned loudly in her hands.

The others stared.

“Oh no.” Alma sighed, rubbing her temples. “Not this again.”

“Ha!” Bruno laughed. “At least it’s not me this time.”

“Someone help me!”

Pepa stared before grinning. “Oh mi Nube, you look adorable!”

“Not helpful!”

Dolores grabbed items from the cupboard as Mirabel wiggled. “It’s okay baby Mamí has you.”

“Stop it!”

Julieta watched, silent.

Bruno shook his head. “Have fun kid.”

“Help me!”

Dolores, to Mirabel’s horror, began to prepare a bottle. Seeing this made the grandchildren laugh even harder.

“Help me!” Mirabel cried out.

“Sorry Nube, we can’t.” Pepa giggled as a rainbow formed above her.

“Mamí, can you hold her while I get her baba ready?” Dolores asked.

“Oh certainly.” Pepa smiled widely as Mirabel was handed off to her.

“Stay with Abuela baby.” Dolores cooed. “Mamí is getting your baba.”

“I’m not your baby!” Mirabel exclaimed.

Dolores ignored Mirabel and went back to making a bottle.

“Tía, let me go.” Mirabel pleaded.

“Sorry Nube, she’ll catch you if you leave.” Pepa cooed.

Mirabel only blushed and groaned.

Pepa had Mirabel on her, she felt a difference on Mirabel sitting on her lap before it clicked.

“Are you-”

“Don’t.” Mirabel hissed.

“Oh my god.” Pepa laughed, her rainbow seemed to glow brighter.

Mirabel blushed even more.

“Aww, mi poor Nube, did your Mamí put you in a nappy?”

More laughter erupted from the grandchildren and Bruno joined in.

Mirabel hid her face in her hands. “She did it while I was asleep! She drugged me!”

“No you're just a heavy sleeper mija.” Agustín said.

“She put a diaper on me! How did I not wake up!? She had to have slipped something in my drink!”

“She didn’t.” Julieta shook her head. “I would know and Casita wouldn’t let you be drugged.”

Isabela finally managed to control her laughter before choking out a question. “What’s going on?”

“Baby fever.” Julieta said.

“What?” Mirabel blinked. “Baby fever.”

“I didn’t think it would pass down to the second generation.” Alma shook her head.

Bruno only snorted.

“What’s going on?!” Mirabel demanded.

“Well Nube, Dolores is going through a phase.” Pepa responded, petting Mirabel’s head.

“A phase that kidnaps me in the middle of the night?!”

“Yeah.”

“Why is this not concerning you guys?!”

“This is kinda normal.” Félix held back a snicker at Mirabel’s outfit, despite Mirabel being upset she was adorable.

Mirabel scoffed. “Of course, of course this is normal.”

Dolores came back with a bottle. “Mamí has your baba.”

“No!” Mirabel went to flee but Pepa held her. “Tía!”

“Nube, trust me, it’ll be better if you just let her.” Pepa said as she handed Mirabel off to Dolores.

Mirabel fought as Dolores cradled her once again with surprising strength.

“What…what?” Luisa asked between a giggle.

“This will be fun.” Alma sipped her coffee. “Well, not for Mira.”

Bruno snapped his fingers. “This was what I was dreaming about!”

“This?”

“Yes! Oh it’s perfect!”

“Why are none of you helping me-” Mirabel was cut off when Dolores shoved the bottle in.

She was forced to drink it.

She couldn’t pull away or get free, Dolores was never this strong before, where did she get this strength from?

“There there, now you have a baba.” Dolores cooed.

Isabela and Camilo choked on their laughter.

Pepa watched. “Oh I need to get my camera.”

Mirabel’s muffled scream was heard.

“You’ll be so adorable mi Nube.”

“I need an explanation.” Luisa chuckled softly. “This is….confusing.”

“Oh this made my day.” Isabela wiped a tear away. “How’s your baba sis?”

Mirabel glared at her.

“Oh this reminds me of when Julie had Bruno like this.”

Bruno stopped laughing.

“It was so memorable.” Pepa smiled fondly. “Wasn’t it baby bro?”

“Six months of my life.” Bruno muttered. “Gone.”

“I seriously don’t recall anything.” Julieta said.

Mirabel had finished the bottle. “Six months?! I will be stuck like this for six months?!”

“No.”

“How long?!”

“Three months at most.”

Mirabel’s eyes twitched. “THAT ISN’T ANY BETTER!”

“It’ll pass.” Pepa said. “Soon.”

“So I have to live like this for the next three months?!”

The adults nodded, there was nothing anyone could do.

“Why can’t you help me?!”

“We tried when Julie and Pepa caught it, but it didn't work. No amount of explanation could get them to stop….that.” Alma gestured to Mirabel.

“Wait, I need to hear this story.” Camilo said. “Tío Bruno went through this?”

“No.” Bruno got up and left.

Dolores kissed Mirabel. “Such a happy girl now that you had your baba.”

“I’ll scream in your ears.” Mirabel hissed.

“There there, Mamí will play with you once she’s had her own num nums, okay?”

“I’m not a baby!”

Dolores bounced Mirabel shushing her. “Can someone hold my baby?”

“I will.” Pepa said, Dolores handed her off.

“I hate this!” Mirabel whined. “I have a life to live!”

“Well the next three months will be full of coddling, love, naps, and more.” Pepa chuckled.

“Ugh!”

“Wonder if Dolores will remember after this.” Agustín wondered out loud.

“Probably not.” Félix said. “If Pepa and Julieta didn’t, she wouldn't.”

“Wait, so it's like memory loss?” Luisa asked.

“Kinda.” Agustín shrugged. “When Pepa got it first and afterwards she didn’t recall a thing neither did Julieta. Poor Bruno though.” He chuckled.

Félix snorted. “Bro had one hell of a ride.”

Dolores finished eating and took Mirabel into her arms. “Okay baby, Mamí is done are you ready to play with your toys?”

“No!”

Isabela snickered. “This will be the most interesting three months ever.”

“Why are you so strong?!”

Dolores ignored her as she went to her room. “Yes, Mamí knows.”

Everyone watched as Dolores entered her room and closed the door.

It was silent for a moment.

Isabela chuckled. “I wonder what Mariano will think.”

“Probably confused.” Luisa said.

“We should tell him he’s now a dad!” Camilo snickered at the idea.

“He’d have a heart attack.” Julieta mused.

“Why?” Antonio asked.

“Oh….no reason.” Julieta smiled nervously.

Antonio blinked, he didn’t understand what was going on.

But Mirabel did look cute and funny, but cute.

ᰔᩚ

Mirabel has her arms crossed, pouting.

That’s what it looked like to Dolores, her baby pouting.

“Why so cranky today?” Dolores asked. “Aren’t you happy to play?”

“No! I’m not a baby! I don’t need these baby toys!” Mirabel kicked a ball and it bounced over to Dolores.

Dolores picked the ball up, smiling. “Oh so fussy.”

“Ugh!”

“Mamí knows.” Dolores kissed her.

Mirabel pushed Dolores away, this was ridiculous, she’s sixteen, not a baby.

Dolores needed help like mental help.

“You need help.” Mirabel hissed.

Dolores paid no mind, as she grabbed a book a nursery book. “Want Mamí to read to you?”

“No!”

“Are you tired? Is that why you're so cranky?”

“I’m done.” Mirabel stood up but Dolores picked her up. “Hey!”

“No no baby, you need to stay where Mamí can see you.” Dolores rocked Mirabel. “What’s making you so fussy? Hm?”

Mirabel growled.

“Oh, does your bum feel icky?”

Mirabel went red. “No!”

Dolores still checked anyway, not paying mind to how Mirabel wiggled in her grasp. “No, no icky bum, maybe you need a nap.”

“I don’t need a nap!”

Dolores walked over to her bed and tucked Mirabel in. “Mamí will get your crib soon baby.”

“I don’t need a crib!”

Dolores kissed Mirabel. “Have a nice nap baby.” She turned off the lights, closing the door.

Mirabel’s eye twitched as she got out the bed, looking down at her outfit she scoffed.

Dolores must have hit her head.

Mirabel headed to the door and turned it, it didn’t budge.

Dolores fucking locked the door.

“I should’ve blown the candle out.” Mirabel muttered.

Where can she go now?

ᰔᩚ

Julieta shook her head. “Pepa, are you seriously going to help Dolores?”

“Yes, of course, it’s only a phase that will pass.” Pepa said excitedly. “Plus, Mirabel is so cute!”

“Well yes, she does look cute but we really shouldn’t encourage this.”

“Well we can’t stop her.”

Julieta sighed.

“And we still do have the supplies.”

“Why did you keep those?”

“I had a feeling this would happen again.” Pepa said with a sly smile.

Julieta stared at Pepa her eyes scanning her. “You just wanted to keep them to mock Bruno, didn’t you?”

Pepa grinned. “You know me too well.”

Julieta sighed.

“Come on! This will be fun!”

Dolores came downstairs.

“Oh mija.” Pepa grinned.

“Hi Mamí.”

“How’s my nieta?” Pepa chuckled as Julieta groaned.

“She’s doing great, she was fussy so I put her down for a nap.”

Pepa snorted. “Oh really?”

“Yes.”

Pepa snorted again.

Julieta shook her head, her poor daughter.

“I need to get a crib for her.” Dolores said. “It’s dangerous for her to sleep with me.”

“Oh?” Pepa grinned. “Well, we have one in the attic.”

“Pepa!”

“Really?”

“Yes, we can have Casita get it down for us, and put it in your room for baby Mira.”

“Oh thank you Mamí.” Dolores smiled.

Julieta rubbed her temple.

“No problem mija, I’d be happy to babysit Mirabel when you need one.” Pepa grinned.

“I’ll keep that in mind.” Dolores smiled.

Pepa chuckled.

Julieta shook her head.

This would be a disaster, like how it went for Pepa and Bruno.

Bruno got the weirdest six months of his life, Julieta can’t recall her moments during her baby fever but from what her family told her.

It was weird.

Super weird.

Pepa can’t recall her baby fever either, Dolores probably won’t either.

But Mirabel will.

As Mirabel unwillingly became the sacrifice to help Dolores during her fever.

Poor Mirabel.

“So, Mirabel is asleep?” Julieta asked.

“Yes, she’s taking her nap.”

“Was the door locked?”

“Yes, I can’t risk Camilo barging in.” Dolores smiled.

“Huh.”

Pepa snickered. “Oh Mira will be resting all right.”

“After fighting hell to get away.” Julieta murmured.

She’ll pray for her daughter tonight.

ᰔᩚ

Mirabel was hiding, she was not taking a nap, she will not take one.

She didn’t know how long she was hiding, she probably did fall asleep but at least it wasn’t in the bed!

Mirabel was jerked away when the doors opened and she fell to the ground.

“Oh my baby!” Dolores scooped Mirabel up. “It’s naptime, not hide and seek time.”

“Fuck!”

“Come on baby.”

“Ugh!” Mirabel groaned, glancing at the clock on the wall Mirabel scoffed, she was asleep for an hour and Dolores hadn’t stopped this yet.

Great.

Dolores patted Mirabel’s back. “Aww, my sweet baby.”

“I hate you.” Mirabel blushed feeling Dolores press her hand against the padding, oh how she loathes this right now.

“No icky bums.” Dolores cooed. “Oh well, are you ready to see Papí?”

“….pardon?”

“Yes, baby is ready to see Papí.” Dolores grabbed a pacifier and before Mirabel spoke she shoved it in her mouth.

Mirabel spat it out. “Where did you get all this stuff?!” The pacifier was shoved back in.

Dolores ignored Mirabel and left her room, passing Camilo who couldn’t contain his laughter.

Mirabel growled.

Dolores walked down. “Are you ready to see Papí?”

“No!”

“Yes, yes, Papí isn’t far from home.”

“Wait….” Mirabel watched as they headed for the doors then it clicked, she was going to be taken outside.

Outside where people will see this.

Oh hell no.

“Dolores!” Mirabel grabbed a pillar and held on. “This is insane! People will laugh!”

Dolores paid no mind. “It’s okay baby, Mamí is here.”

“Stop it!”

“Let go baby.” Dolores soothed. “Mamí has you.”

“Stop!”

“What’s going on?” Isabela showed up, holding back her own snickers.

“I’m taking Mirabel to see her Papí.” Dolores smiled.

“Mariano?”

“Of course, who else?”

Isabela coughed. “Oh, great.”

“She’s going to take me outside!” Mirabel cried. “In public!”

“Good luck.”

“ISA!” Mirabel struggled as Dolores managed to get her to let go and she went to the doors.

Isabela watched snickering.

Mirabel glared at Isabela even as the doors closed, she’ll deal with Isabela the moment she can.

Dolores patted Mirabel’s back. “There there, Papí will be happy to see you.”

“Mariano is not my father!”

Mirabel covered her eyes as she was taken threw town, she can hear people whispering, she’s never living this town.

Not ever.

Dolores didn’t listen to what people were saying, she only focused on her baby.

Mirabel mumbled curses under her breath as they reach the Guzmán household.

Dolores knocked on the door. “Papí is here baby, are you happy?”

“No.”

“Aww, so happy.”

Mirabel growled, she covered her face as people watched.

Señora Guzmán opened the door, she smiled before pausing, seeing Mirabel, she opened her mouth then closed it.

Mirabel groaned.

“Mirabel wanted to see her Papí.” Dolores smiled. “Isn’t that right baby?”

“Oh….” Mrs. Guzmán sighed. “It’s happening again.”

“Seriously?! You know about this baby fever crap?!” Mirabel shouted.

“Well yes, it happened with Julieta and Pepa, and poor Bruno was the-”

“Mamá? Who is it?” Mariano’s voice was heard.

Dolores smiled. “Amor! I’m here with our baby!”

The sound of glass breaking was heard and Mariano rushed to the door. “Baby?!”

“Yes-”

“You were pregnant?!”

Mirabel rolled her eyes. “Hey dummy-”

“I thought the condom held!”

“Mariano!” Mrs. Guzmán's face palmed.

“When did you give birth?!” Mariano held Dolores’s shoulder. “Where is the baby?!”

“Amor-”

Mariano paced. “Oh Pepa is going to kill me, I knew we should have taken birth control! Damnit!”

“Wait, you and him….” Mirabel gagged. “Oh gross.”

“I’m not ready yet!”

“Hey! Dumb hunk!” Mirabel snapped her fingers. “She was never pregnant and she did not give birth.”

Mariano finally noticed Mirabel. “What the….”

“This is our baby!” Dolores grinned. “Isn’t she adorable?”

“Say a word and I’ll have Isabela’s plants punch you again.” Mirabel hissed.

Mariano stared.

“She wanted to see her Papí.” Dolores cooed. “Isn’t that right?”

“Kill me.”

Mrs. Guzmán rubbed her temples. “The baby fever is running again.”

“What?” Mariano asked.

“Long story son.” She said she went back inside. “Have fun Mariano.”

“Can you help me?!” Mirabel begged.

“Sorry sweetie, I can’t.”

Mirabel groaned.

Mariano stared. “What’s going on?”

“We have a child, what do you think?” Dolores chuckled. “Isn’t that right baby?”

“No, that isn’t right.” Mirabel scoffed. “Help me Mariano.”

Mariano only stared. “How are you even holding her?”

Dolores ignored that question. “She missed her Papí.”

“He isn’t my Papí!” Mirabel growled. “Mariano, talk to her.”

“Um….Amor, are you okay?”

“Yes, I’m perfectly fine.”

“….you do know Mirabel is your cousin, right?”

“No, she’s my daughter.”

Mariano blinked. “….okay….”

“Seriously?!”

“I….don’t know what to do.” Mariano shrugged hesitantly.

“Help me!”

“How?”

“I don’t know!”

Dolores bounced Mirabel. “It’s okay baby, don’t be fussy.”

“Ugh!”

Mariano watched as people stared.

What. The. Hell.

ᰔᩚ

Mirabel was in a sandbox, the humiliation.

Dolores took her to the park, asking Mariano to watch her for an hour, as she had to go set stuff up for her ‘baby’.

Mariano was on a bench, watching her, not really knowing what to do.

Mirabel glared at him.

The dumb hunk was useless.

He wouldn’t help her.

The situation became worse as people walked by and stared at Mirabel, some people laughing, others had a pitiful look like they knew what was happening.

“Why am I even staying here?!” Mirabel scoffed to herself and stood up going over to the bench Mariano was at and sat next to him.

Mariano swallowed. “So….when did this start?”

“This morning.” Mirabel wiped sand off her skirt. “I woke up in Dolores’s bed in an embarrassing outfit.”

“Oh….”

“She bottle fed me and my family won’t help me because this is ‘normal’.” Mirabel made air quotes. “Should’ve blown out the candle.”

“Huh?”

“Nothing.”

They stayed in silence.

“How long will this go on for?” Mariano asked.

“They said three months.”

“Three months?!”

“Yeah, I know ridiculous.”

“This….is….”

“Insane.”

“Crazy.”

Mirabel chuckled. “Yeah, it is.”

“Is this actually normal?”

Mirabel shrugged. “Apparently.”

“Okay….”

Silence again, besides the soft snickering Mirabel heard from behind them.

“Want an ice cream?” Mariano asked.

“Do I look like a child to you?”

“….”

“….ice cream would actually make me feel better right now….”

“Oh, then let’s go.” Mariano stood up.

Mirabel stood up with a sigh.

“Want me to carry you?” Mariano snickered.

Mirabel hit his arm, making Mariano laugh.

“Shut up!”

“Come on.”

“No.”

ᰔᩚ

Pepa was chuckling to herself as she grabbed a photo album from her shelf in her room, this book contained photos from her and Julieta’s baby fever.

She walked out, she was going to show everyone! And maybe get some photos of Mirabel and add them in the book!

She saw Luisa carrying a crib, she recognized the crib. “Oh you found it!”

“Why do we have this?” Luisa asked, setting it down. “It’s Mirabel’s size, why?”

“Oh it was for Julie’s fever, and Bruno was her baby.” Pepa giggled. “Did Dolores ask you to bring it out?”

“Yes.”

“Oh good, now Dolores can put Mirabel in there.”

Luisa chuckled and noticed the book. “What’s that?”

“Baby Fever book.”

“What?”

Pepa opened it and showed Luisa a photo, Luisa coughed on her laughter seeing a photo of Bruno dressed up as a toddler, being held by Pepa.

Both looking younger, in their 20s. Bruno looked embarrassed and angry while Pepa was happy with a literal rainbow above her head.

“Apparently Mamá took this photo.” Pepa said. “Bruno sure does look cute.”

“Um….yeah.”

“Luisa?” Dolores poked her head out. “Oh you have it!”

“Yes.” Luisa chuckled. “I do.”

“Great! Just put it by my bed, I want to be sure I hear my baby at night.”

“Sure.” Luisa chuckled as she picked the crib back up.

“Oh Mamí, thank you for telling me about the supplies I would need for my baby.” Dolores said.

“Oh your welcome mija.” Pepa chuckled. “Where Mira?”

“I left her with Papí, everything is set up, I should go get her now.”

“Oh great, oh before you go where is Isa and Camilo?”

“Their both in Isa’s room, why?”

“I have something to show them.” Pepa waved the book around.

“Oh, okay, bye Mamí.”

“Bye Dolores, tell my nieta, I said hi.”

“I will.” Dolores left.

Pepa waited for Luisa to come back out of Dolores’s room, when she did she smiled. “Follow me Luisa.”

“Oh okay.” Luisa followed Pepa to Isabela’s door.

Pepa knocked on the door.

The door opened by a vine. “Hola Tía.” Isabela said.

“What are you two doing?”

“Makeup.” Isabela responded, Camilo was tied up by vines as makeup was applied to his face.

Luisa snickered.

Camilo was frowning. “Oh come on! That color doesn’t even look good on me!”

“It will when I’m done.” Isabela smiled applying blush onto him. “What is it that you need Tía?”

“Oh I wanted to show you three these.” Pepa showed the book.

Isabela read the label. “Baby Fever?”

“Yep, baby fever.”

“Who made this?”

“Me.” Pepa giggled. “After mine, I saw a great opportunity to make this for memories, I was glad that Mamá took photos, I took photos during Julie’s.”

Pepa sat on the bed, Isabela let go of Camilo and he got next to Pepa.

“Oh this is going to be good.” Camilo chuckled.

Isabela and Luisa shrugged while sitting on the bed as well next to Pepa.

“When did this all start?” Luisa asked.

“We were in our 20s, around twenty-five.”

“Oh, three years later before me and Dolores were born.” Isabela said. “Interesting.”

“Yep.” Pepa smiled as she opened the book to the first page.

Pepa was holding Bruno who looked embarrassed.

“He doesn’t look happy.”

“I was told he wasn’t.” Pepa chuckled as she flipped through the pages.

Each page Bruno was in toddler outfits in his size, either having to hold Pepa’s hand or being held by Pepa.

The three of the grandchildren were laughing as Pepa explained each one.

“Where did you even get these clothes from?” Luisa asked between laughs.

“Oh, I asked a seamstress to make them, I believe so.” Pepa waved a hand. “But I handed them, Julieta did the same as you can tell.”

She flipped over to the next page and pointed to a photo of Bruno in a blue color themed onesie, but in a crib his size.

The three lost it and began laughing hysterically.

Pepa smiled still.

Camilo eventually stopped his laughing. “Where did Tía get that from?”

“I don’t know, she had it custom made I think.”

“No wonder why that crib was in the attic.” Luisa laughed. “Mamá got it.”

“He even has a pacifier!” Isabela covered her mouth laughing so hard it hurt.

“Yes, I remember this day specifically, apparently after my fever had ended Julieta’s began. The next morning Bruno was swearing like a sailor.” Pepa laughed at the memory.

“I bet he was.” Isabela chuckled. “Stuck as a toddler for three months, then a baby the next.”

“He wasn’t kidding when he meant six months of his life were gone.” Luisa wiped a tear away.

“He wasn’t happy.” Pepa chuckled.

Each photo Bruno looked pissed in each one, besides the one of him napping.

The grandkids were howling after each photo till they finished the book.

“Now Mirabel is going through this.” Pepa closed the book.

“Are you going to?” Luisa dragged out her sentence.

“Yes.” Pepa grinned. “Most definitely, she can be mad but that just makes her cuter.”

They all laughed.

“Well Tía I sure do hope Mirabel won’t be fussy.” Isabela giggled.

“Oh she will.” Luisa snickered.

“Do you think Dolores hears baby babbling when Mirabel speaks?”

“Probably.” Pepa said. “Julieta would always coo and babble back at Bruno.”

“Makes sense.” Isabela nodded.

“Oh this will be a fun summer.” Camilo rubbed his hands together.

“Don’t do anything that will upset Mirabel.” Pepa said.

“She’s already upset.”

“You know what I mean.”

“I won’t.”

“Good.”

Camilo chuckled.

This was going to be fun.

ᰔᩚ

Julieta was making dinner when she heard screaming.

Mirabel was back, with Dolores.

Julieta looked out and saw it.

Mirabel had ice cream over her face.

Mariano trailed behind, snickering.

“There there, I know you're all fussy.” Dolores soothed.

“Mariano you son of a-”

“What’s going on?” Julieta asked.

“Oh well Mirabel was having ice cream with her Papí and her Papí-”

“Shoved the damn come in my face!” Mirabel shouted.

“I didn’t! You slipped!” Mariano protested.

“You should’ve dropped the ice cream before trying to catch me!” Mirabel hissed.

Dolores smiled. “Now I have to bathe her.”

“Oh hell no!” Mirabel struggled to get loose. “Help!”

“Um….Amor maybe you shouldn’t.” Mariano said.

Dolores looked at him smirking. “Oh? So would you want to bathe your daughter instead, you caused this mess after all?”

Mariano’s eyes went wide as he shook his head along with Mirabel, both saying ‘no’ over and over again.

“Thought so.” Dolores walked upstairs and into her room.

Julieta blinked.

Mariano waved at her. “Just to be clear, I don’t want to-”

“I know.” Julieta said. “No need to explain.”

Mariano breathed out. “Will Mira be okay?”

“Yes, embarrassed but fine.”

“Oh, I hope so.”

“She will.” Julieta sighed, her poor daughter.

Dolores put Mirabel in her bathroom, and set her down. “Mamí will clean you up.”

Mirabel growled as Dolores began to start the tub, she was going to be bathed by her prima, better than Mariano she guessed.

Once the water was filled and the right temperature Dolores turned to Mirabel. “Okay baby, time for a bath.”

“Ugh.” Mirabel blushed as her glasses were taken off and as she got undressed, the reminder of the stupid diaper made Mirabel blush.

“Sticky girl.” Dolores undressed Mirabel and put her in the tub with surprising strength.

Mirabel covered herself the best she could, blushing. “Make it quick.”

“You had such a fun day with your Papí, hm?”

“I did not.”

“Yes you did.” Dolores began to wash off the ice cream. “So much fun.”

“I had zero fun, I should be lucky that sand didn’t end up in my diaper.” Mirabel rolled her eyes as she got washed.

Dolores was thankfully quick with the bath and pulled Mirabel out and wrapped a towel around her. “Now you're all clean.”

“Shut up.”

Dolores took Mirabel out of the bathroom and placed her on her bed. “Wait there for Mamí.”

“I hate my life.”

Dolores came back with socks, a red onesie, and of course a diaper.

Mirabel snarled. “I don’t need a diaper!”

“There there.” Dolores held Mirabel down with ease as she struggled. “Mamí is almost done.”

Mirabel could only struggle as Dolores dressed her up, she growled and crossed her arms.

Dolores came back downstairs and dinner was already made. “Look baby, num nums are done.”

“Ugh.”

Alma looked up. “We invited Mariano.”

“Well he was already he, it would seem rude to send him if dinner was done.” Julieta said.

Dolores sat down, next to Mariano, Mirabel on her lap.

Mirabel glared at Mariano who smiled nervously.

“Was the baby happy to see her Papí?” Isabela teased.

Mirabel growled.

Dolores bounced Mirabel. “My sweet baby.”

Mariano coughed. “So….is Dolores okay?”

“She’s fine.” Alma said. “This is normal.”

“Normal.” Mirabel scoffed.

Mariano nodded.

A sudden flash made Mirabel snap her head to it, it was Pepa holding a camera. “For fu-”

“First photo!” Pepa grinned. “And more to come!”

Mirabel placed her head in hands.

Fuck her life.

ᰔᩚ

Day 8

Mirabel woke up, from the nap she was forced to take in the crib.

She hated it, the first night she fought like hell to not get in it, but Dolores won, she tried jumping out but Dolores put her back in.

Mirabel eventually gave in an let Dolores put her in even though she hated it.

Her family was of no help.

The teasing, the laughter, she’ll get all of them back for this.

Pepa took photos.

So many.

It didn't matter what she was doing.

She just snapped the camera.

Dolores walked over to Mirabel. “Hi baby, how was your nap?”

“Fine.” Mirabel muttered, Dolores picked her up.

Dolores patted Mirabel’s back. “Cute little girl.”

“Ugh.” Mirabel couldn’t stop the blush as Dolores checked the diaper.

It didn't matter how many times Dolores did that, it made her blush.

What’s worse was she couldn’t even use the toilet with Dolores, she was lucky to be left alone with a family member who would freely allow her to use the toilet.

Of course Mirabel couldn’t always make it to the bathroom leading to an embarrassing situation of Dolores changing her.

Mirabel would rather be in her grave than go through another diaper change, but she will, within these three months.

“We’ll have such a fun day, won’t we?”

“Probably not.”

“Yes we will.” Dolores cooed while going out of her room. “Are you hungry baby?”

Mirabel’s stomach growled, making her sigh.

Mirabel’s current diet only seemed to have bottles, applesauce, sliced mangoes, and other sliced fruit.

Her mother and aunt gave her actual food when Dolores was busy or wasn’t looking.

Dolores put Mirabel in a chair. “You wait right there baby, Mamí will get you some num nums.”

Mirabel rolled her eyes and leaned in the chair.

At least she wasn’t being held.

Dolores came back with applause and sliced mangoes. “Here are your num nums.”

Mirabel rolled her eyes as Dolores began to feed her, she allowed it because Dolores won’t let her feed herself.

The food was eventually gone and Dolores wiped Mirabel’s mouth with a rag. “Good girl, you ate all your num nums.”

“You wouldn’t have stopped till I did.”

Dolores only cooed.

Mirabel rolled her eyes as she was picked up.

“Want to see Tía Isa?”

“No.”

“Yes yes.” Dolores kissed her.

Mirabel rolled her eyes as she was taken to Isabela’s door.

Isabela looked up from her book, seeing the two she grinned. “Oh Dolores, Mirabel.”

Mirabel frowned.

“Mira wanted to see Isa, didn’t you?”

“Drown me.”

“Aww.” Isabela pinched Mirabel’s cheek making her growl. “Such a cute baby.”

“Stop it.” Mirabel didn’t try pushing away.

“No.”

Dolores bounced Mirabel.

Mirabel blushed as Isabela cackled.

“So Dolores, how is it with your baby?” Isabela asked between laughs.

“Oh wonderful, isn’t that right Mira?”

“No.”

“Yes.” Dolores kissed Mirabel’s head.

Mirabel rolled her eyes.

“Do people love your baby?”

“They adore her.” Dolores smiled.

“They look at me with pity.” Mirabel said. “Others laugh.”

“Oh I’ll deal with the ones who laugh at you Mira.” Isabela patted her head. “Don’t you worry.”

“Wow, thanks.” Mirabel said her tone was sarcastic.

“No problem baby.”

“Ugh.”

“Oh I’m going to make tea, can you watch her Isabela?” Dolores asked.

“Oh certainly.” Isabela nodded, Dolores placed Mirabel in her arms and she did her best not to laugh.

“Be careful, she’s been managing to take her nappy off.” Dolores kissed Mirabel, making her blush. “Be a good girl and keep your nappy on.”

Mirabel scoffed, once Dolores left she pushed herself away from Isabela’s arms.

Isabela chuckled. “Oh it can’t be that bad.”

“I sleep in a crib.”

“So did Tío.”

“I wear diapers.”

“Tío did too.”

“People looked at me like I’m a weirdo!”

“I’ll deal with them later.” Isabela waved a hand. “It’s only for three months, you're already eight days in.”

Mirabel rolled her eyes. “Whatever.”

“Plus on the bright side you look adorable.”

Mirabel rolled her eyes again.

“Such a cute baby girl~”

Mirabel turned around, huffing.

“Aww, poor girl all fussy.”

Mirabel growled.

“Might as well use the bathroom now.” Isabela said. “Before someone has a wittle accident.”

“….shut up.” Mirabel headed to the bathroom blushing.

“Don’t rip off the diaper this time.”

“I was in a hurry!”

“And that left you naked with no diaper.”

“I was still covered!”

Isabela chuckled as the door to her bathroom closed.

True Mirabel was in a diaper but Isabela wasn’t going to force Mirabel to use them, she found it funny but not when Mirabel was visibly uncomfortable.

It would be cruel to deny her a right to use the restroom, inhumane almost, Isabela knew Mirabel would rather have a number 1 situation than a number 2 situation in her diaper.

Aye.

Poor Mirabel.

ᰔᩚ

Day 14

Pepa took a photo, Mirabel glared at her. “Don’t blame me for wanting cute memories.”

“You call this cute?” Mirabel slapped away at the toy plush Dolores was handing to her.

“No no baby, we don’t hit Mamí.” Dolores scolded lightly.

“Yes.” Pepa grinned.

“You suck.”

“I love you too.” Another flash, Mirabel rolled her eyes.

Dolores shook a kitty plush in Mirabel’s face. “Look at the kitty baby.”

Mirabel rolled her eyes.

“Such a pretty kitty, like my pretty baby.”

“I swear to god….”

“Oh Mirabel try enjoying it, doesn’t it feel nice to be pampered?” Pepa asked.

“Not like this.”

“But you're being doted on.”

“In the worst way, I’m beginning to hate milk or whatever it is that Dolores forced down my throat.”

“But she still gives you regular food.”

“Yeah, applesauce and mango slices.” Mirabel waved her hand around. “Delicious.”

“We’re still making sure you're given real food during this Mira.”

“Well I obviously can’t be fed off by just milk and fruit!”

Pepa only smiled as she took more pictures.

This was going in the album alright.

With sweet little Mirabel and Mamí Dolores.

“Are you hungry baby?” Dolores cooed.

“Why don’t I go feed her and you can relax.” Pepa offered. “You’ve been doing a lot, mija.”

“It’s fine-”

“I insist.”

“If you say so.” Dolores kissed Mirabel and gave her to Pepa. “Be a good girl for Abuela baby.”

Pepa snickered as she left Dolores’s room, closing the door.

A rainbow appeared above her head, Mirabel liked her eyes as she was set down.

“What would you like to eat?” Pepa asked, still smiling.

“Anything that isn’t fruit or milk.” Mirabel said.

“Of course, nieta.” The two walked to the kitchen as Mirabel groaned.

Alma was in, making herself tea, seeing the two she sighed. “Dolores is still…”

“Yep.” Pepa nodded.

“I see.”

“I’m so done.” Mirabel said.”

“You only have two weeks and two months left.” Pepa said encouragingly.

“My life is over.”

“It’s not.”

“People laugh at me.”

“Isabela will deal with them.” Pepa waved a hand as she began to make something up for Mirabel to eat.

“Still….”

“It’s okay Mirabel.” Alma said. “I promise you this will blow over, it did with Bruno.”

I’m going to disappear for ten years. Mirabel thought to herself.

“It will blow over.”

“I hope so.”

“It will.” Alma offered her a smile. “I promise.”

Mirabel sighed.

Two months left.

Of Hell.

ᰔᩚ

Day 21

Mirabel clutched her stomach, she was given another damn visit of her period, of course!

Just her luck! Periods!

Mirabel wanted to laugh at the idea of using a diaper instead of pads instead but she couldn’t when she was forced to use one.

Dolores, even while in this weird phase understood her and gave her space.

Not much space but space.

Mirabel can appreciate that of Dolores, she hated the fact Dolores still wouldn’t let her go.

To Dolores, her “baby” was only a little unwell, not that she was on her period.

The door suddenly opened and Mirabel feared it was Dolores.

“Just me mija.”

Mirabel relaxed. “Hi Mamá.”

Julieta walked in, Mirabel rolled her eyes at the bottle.

“Sorry, it was the only thing Dolores would allow me to bring.” Julieta smiled. “But it’s not milk.”

“What is it?”

“Your favorite tea, I put some pills in to help with any cramps.” Julieta offered the bottle.

“This is offensive to me.”

“I know, baby.” Julieta kissed Mirabel when she grabbed the bottle. “I know.”

“I hate this.”

Julieta smiled, she couldn’t resist herself from putting Mirabel in her lap.

“Mamá!”

“Hush, I’m your biological mother, let me enjoy this.”

Mirabel scoffed.

Julieta kissed Mirabel again. “I know this is embarrassing mija, but you are in fact very adorable.”

“Ugh.” Mirabel crossed her arms.

Julieta giggled, she couldn’t help it her daughter looked like a pouty toddler. “Aw, don’t be fussy mija.”

“Mamá!”

“What? You want your baba?” Julieta grabbed the bottle and shook it a bit.

Mirabel blushed. “You're being so mean.”

“Oh baby, I don’t mean it.” Julieta kissed her. “But you can’t blame me when you're this adorable.”

She only got huff in response.

Julieta smiled still. “It’ll be okay baby.”

“Don’t use that word.”

Julieta chuckled, handing over the bottle.

Against Mirabel’s judgment she did take the and began to drink from it, enjoying the taste of tea instead of milk.

“It’ll be over soon.” Julieta soothed, rubbing Mirabel’s head.

“I hope.”

“Two months are about left your about one month in.”

“Hmp.”

Julieta chuckled. “You’ll forever be my baby Mira, never forget that.”

Mirabel rolled her eyes but leaned in to Julieta’s touch.

At least this moment was nice.

ᰔᩚ

Day 28

Camilo walked into the kitchen snickering, holding a newspaper.

Mirabel was being held in Dolores’s lap as she was fed oatmeal by Dolores, something other than applesauce.

Which was nice, she only wished she could feed herself.

“Guess what.” Camilo smirked.

Mirabel didn’t like that smirk.

“What is Camilo?” Alma asked.

“Someone’s on the news~” Camilo cooed while showing the newspaper with the headline saying.

“BABY FEVER STRIKES THE MADRIGALS AGAIN!”

Mirabel started, the photo was of Dolores holding Mirabel as Mirabel covered her face, her outfit childish. “Oh come on!”

“Ha!” Bruno laughed. “At least it’s not me!”

“Aww, look baby, you're so popular you're in the newspaper.” Dolores cooed.

“Mamí you should add this in the album.” Camilo said with a grin, making Pepa gasp excitedly.

“You're right!” Pepa walked off.

Mirabel groaned.

“My baby is so precious.” Dolores cooed. “Aren’t you?”

“Ugh!”

Dolores smiled as everyone else chuckled.

“Why me?” Mirabel groaned. “This is what I get for restoring the miracle?”

Julieta smiled apologetically. “I know mija, this will blow over.”

“It better or else I’ll have to get a new name.”

Dolores shoved some more oatmeal in Mirabel’s mouth. “So messy.”

“You're missing on purpose!”

“My baby needs a bib.”

Isabela snorted.

Mirabel blushed and looked away.

Why her?

Camilo read the newspaper. “Baby fever strikes again, Mirabel is the poor victim to be the baby, on goers who have seen her say it’s a hilarious but an embarrassing situation for her to be in. Others say it’s adorable.”

Mirabel rolled her eyes as he continued.

“The town can only wonder how long Mirabel will be a baby for now.” Camilo laughed.

Mirabel groaned.

Dolores finished feeding Mirabel and wiped her face. “Messy girl.”

“Ugh! Stop!”

“There there, all fussy because you want your baba.”

“I don’t want a bottle! I’m sick of milk!”

Dolores ignored Mirabel’s pleas as she held Mirabel going into the kitchen, the family watched.

Alma shook her head. “Poor Mirabel.”

“She’ll be fine.” Isabela said. “Just fine.”

“We can only hope so.”

They heard shouting from the kitchen.

“Poor kid.” Bruno snorted. “She doesn’t want her baba.”

Dolores walked out with a bottle, Mirabel looked at her family.

“Help me.” Mirabel whispered before Dolores walked off with the bottle.

Alma shook her head, poor Mirabel.

ᰔᩚ

Day 35

Mariano was uncomfortable, Mirabel was uncomfortable, both were uncomfortable.

Dolores was not.

She was in fact taking photos.

Mariano held Mirabel on his lap, it was weird but Dolores asked him so she could take photos of them.

Father and daughter moment she said.

It was embarrassing.

Mirabel scowled. “Are you done yet?”

“So adorable.”

Mirabel scoffed. “You’ve taken over a hundred photos, please no more.”

“My two favorite people together.”

“Um, Amor, I think that’s enough.” Mariano smiled nervously.

“It’s never enough.”

“Well I think….it is.” Mariano shifted uncomfortably.

“No.”

“But isn’t it time for….her nap?”

Mirabel snapped her head to glare at Mariano.

Dolores looked at the clock. “Oh it is, come on baby-”

“Wait….” Mariano stopped Dolores from taking Mirabel. “How about we have someone watch her nap and….let’s go on a date you need some time for yourself Amor.”

“Hm.”

“Please accept it.”

“Okay, I’ll ask Luisa to watch her.” Dolores swooped Mirabel into her arms. “Isn’t that a fun idea baby?”

“Ugh.”

“Yes Tía Luisa will watch you while Mamí and Papí go out, we’ll be back before you wake up from your nap.”

“Please do not return.”

Mariano breathed out, he hoped Mirabel would enjoy her time away, he couldn’t do much but offer her an escape.

Dolores found Luisa walking around. “Luisa, can you do me a favor?”

Luisa snickered softly. “Um, yeah, what is it?”

“Can you watch Mirabel while me and Mariano go out for a bit? She just needs to be put down for her nap.”

“Oh….certainly.” Luisa chuckled. “I can handle that.”

“Thanks Luisa.” Dolores looked at Mirabel. “Be a good girl for Tía, okay?”

“Don’t come back home.”

Mirabel was handed off to Luisa.

Dolores kissed Mirabel goodbye. “Bye bye baby, have a good nap.”

Luisa snickered as Dolores walked off with Mariano, he waved to Luisa as they left.

Once they were gone Mirabel was put down. “Ugh!”

“Well….now you're free.” Luisa chuckled.

“For an hour at most!” Mirabel stomped a foot.

“Oh cheer up, you have two months left.”

“Of hell.” Mirabel groaned.

“Look, it’s best to enjoy the time you have while being free.”

“You have no idea what this is like!”

“True.” Luisa nodded. “But it’s not that bad, it could be worse.”

“Whatever.”

“Come on, why don’t you do something fun?”

“Oh like what? Reading me a book? Playing with dolls?”

“You can go back to work on your sewing projects.”

“Oh….”

“Do that.”

Mirabel sighed.

“Go on, I’ll keep an eye out for Dolores so you sneak back into her room.”

“Right….thanks Luisa.” Mirabel walked off.

Once Mirabel entered her room Luisa began laughing, as much as she loves her little sister she looked ridiculous, of course she doesn’t want to hurt her feelings.

But Mirabel is too funny not to laugh at and Mirabel would get mad or worse upset.

Luisa wiped away tears, goddamn was this family insane.

But she wouldn’t change it for the world.

Day 42

“I don’t understand.”

“I know bud, me neither.” Mirabel shook her head.

Antonio watched as Dolores finished putting a red bow on Mirabel’s head that Mirabel had taken off.

Mirabel was dressed up at Dolores, but cuter, even her glasses were red instead of green.

Mirabel sighed, another day of embarrassment, a month and two weeks in and she wanted freedom more than anything.

Besides the flashes of the cameras, her family’s nonstop teasing, and of course the comments the people made or pitiful looks Mirabel did have small moments of enjoyment.

The treatment and outfits were not her enjoyable moments, but the moments of relaxation were nice, even embarrassingly so playing with toys was nice.

It was stupid, Mirabel knew that but just playing around was nice, god something was wrong with her.

Well something was wrong with Dolores too.

Something was wrong with all of them.

Not that it mattered much, a Madrigal isn’t normal, their not meant to be.

“So Antonio, you wanted to show Mirabel the newest animals you have?” Dolores asked.

“Ah, yeah, I have a new flock of parrots.” Antonio swayed a bit. “They can talk.”

“As long as it’s not snakes.”

“Grab a snake.” Mirabel muttered. “Please.”

Antonio pointed to a walkthrough path between trees. “Here.”

Dolores followed holding Mirabel.

Mirabel rolled her eyes resting her head on Dolores’s shoulder.

Being carried wasn’t as bad as she originally thought it was, besides the fact on why she is being carried Mirabel can find some enjoyment out of it.

She heard squawking, looking up there was an abundance of birds, all different ranges of color red, blue, yellow, green, black, white, and more.

“Look at the birdies baby.” Dolores said. “So pretty.”

“There’s parrots, parakeets, and macaws!” Antonio exclaimed.

The birds squawked.

Mirabel watched as one parrot with a brown head flew down onto a branch near her and inched closer, making a whistling sound.

“Oh look baby.” Dolores said. “A birdy is saying hi.”

“I can see Dolores.” Mirabel rolled her eyes. “What kind of parrots is this Antonio?”

“A Red-Fan parrot.” Antonio smiled. “She has very pretty feathers.”

The parrot let out a trill. “Pretty girl.” It trilled, stretching out its wings.

Mirabel groaned. “Oh for fu-”

“Prettt pretty baby!” It trilled more.

Dolores chuckled. “It’s right Mira, you are a pretty baby!”

Antonio giggled. “She can repeat what people say to her.”

“Oh.” Mirabel blinked. “That makes more sense.”

“Yeah! They can all talk.”

A macaw landed in Dolores’s shoulder, a green one and moved his talons around Dolores’s neck like it was wiping its feet.

“Oh hello.” Dolores greeted.

“Bitch.” The bird gurgled.

Mirabel laughed as Dolores gasped offendedly.

“Don’t listen to that bird baby.” Dolores shooed the bird away from her and it flew off.

“Sorry Dolores!” Antonio said. “They repeat what people say.”

Dolores only huffed. “I don’t want my baby to hear bad words.”

“….but Mirabel is your cousin.”

“She’s my baby.”

“No point in talking to her, Antonio.” Mirabel said. “I’ve tried.”

“I don’t understand….”

“I don’t either." Mirabel sighed. “It’s annoying.”

Dolores patted Mirabel’s back. “Well, these birds are….nice but I need to put her down for a nap.”

“Oh come on, it's barely one o’clock!” Mirabel complained.

“Yes, you feel fussy because you're sleepy.” Dolores smiled.

Mirabel rolled her eyes as Dolores began leaving.

Antonio watched as they left his sight.

Is was weird, Mirabel was dressed as a baby, Dolores was saying Mirabel was her baby but their cousins, it was weird.

So weird.

He didn’t understand.

A macaw landed on Antonio’s shoulder, trilling.

Antonio petted the macaw’s blue head. “It’s confusing.”

“Cracker.” The macaw squawked.

“Yeah, it is.”

“Crackers.”

Antonio nodded. “It is.”

“Birdy wanna cracker?” The macaw shook its head ruffling its feathers.

“Well everyone is saying it’s normal.” Antonio shrugged. “It must be.”

“Piggy.” The macaw flapped its wings before flying off to a tree.

Antonio chuckled.

He loved the new flock.

Day 49

Dolores brushed Mirabel’s hair, she finished bathing her baby.

Mirabel huffed but allowed it as her hair got brushed.

Dolores smiled. “You’ve been such a good girl.”

“Only because I wanted the bath done faster.” Mirabel frowned.

“You smell so pretty now.”

“I smell like baby powder.”

“Pretty girl smelling pretty.”

“I hate this.”

Dolores picked Mirabel up, Mirabel sighed.

“Time for beddybye.” Dolores cooed rocking Mirabel.

Mirabel rolled her eyes.

“Mamí has your baba too.”

“I hate babas now.” Mirabel hissed as she was placed in the crib, her prison.

This was a cage.

Mirabel laid down, sighing, at least she was two in a half month in.

Dolores came back with a bottle. “Here baby, you have your baba, want Mamí to read a story to help you sleep.”

“No.” Mirabel was ignored as a bottle was put in her mouth.

Mirabel rolled her eyes as Dolores began to grab a nursery book.

“Look, Mamí found a book with a kitty.” Dolores shook a book in Mirabel’s face.

Mirabel blinked. “Okay….”

Dolores began reading to Mirabel, Mirabel listened as she did drink from the bottle.

The sound of Dolores’s soft voice and the warm milk was not a great combination, it was causing Mirabel to be tired.

She hated that.

She did not want to be tired.

Mirabel couldn’t even hear Dolores speaking anymore as she started to fall asleep, unfortunately.

It all went quiet for Mirabel as she fell asleep.

Dolores smiled as her baby fell asleep. She kissed Mirabel’s head. “Good night baby, Mamí will be here when you wake up.”

ᰔᩚ

Day 56

“I don’t need a babysitter!” Mirabel whined to Pepa.

“How Nube, it’ll be okay, you have me!”

“Exactly!” Mirabel frowned. “Give me to Luisa! Or Isabela! Or Mamá!”

“Your Mamí is-”

“Julieta! Not Dolores!” Mirabel crossed her arms turning her back to Pepa.

Dolores asked Pepa to watch over Mirabel which she happily accepted.

Mirabel didn’t like that, Pepa would keep her like this.

She was doomed.

Pepa kissed Mirabel’s head. “It’s okay Mira, we’ll have fun.”

“That’s what I fear.”

Pepa giggled. “Oh the photos I will take.”

“Oh no.”

“And it will be so much fun!”

Mirabel put her face in her hands.

Pepa picked Mirabel up.

Mirabel groaned.

Pepa chuckled leaving Dolores’s room. “Why don’t we have some fun and color?”

“Color? Are you serious?”

“Yes!”

Mirabel groaned again.

Pepa ignored Mirabel and took her downstairs to the main room.

Mirabel growled as Pepa gave her some crayons and paper.

“Go and play.” Pepa encouraged her.

Mirabel scoffed.

Pepa smiled. “I’ll be back with my camera!”

Mirabel rolled her eyes as Pepa left.

This was dumb.

So dumb.

An idea popped in her head.

And she grinned.

She grabbed a crayon and paper and began to scribble.

Pepa came back and smiled. “Aww, your actually drawing.”

“Yeah I am.” Mirabel snickered.

Pepa took a photo.

Mirabel handed her the paper.

Pepa took it and paused, then burst out laughing. “You can’t write that!”

Mirabel smirked. “What? It’s just doodles.”

“No it isn’t!” Pepa had a rainbow above her head, she couldn’t even be upset.

“fUck yOu” was written on the paper, the words in red, big and small, out of order, but the message was clear.

Fuck you.

Mirabel actually smiled, a real one, she wondered how Dolores would react.

She hoped it would snap Dolores out of this dumb haze she’s in.

Pepa wiped away tears of joy. “Oh mi Nube, you certainly are enjoying yourself.”

“No I'm not!” Mirabel blushed. “I’m just messing around!”

“Oh it’s okay to admit you're having fun.”

Mirabel scowled, only making Pepa chuckle.

“So adorable, your Mamí will love this.” Pepa waved the paper around.

“I hate you.”

Abuela loves you too.”

“Tía!”

ᰔᩚ

Day 63

Mirabel did her best to not throw sand at Dolores, really she did, but she was tired of being dragged to the park for “fun”

The looks, the whispers, the chuckles, it was becoming too much, a slightest chuckle from someone and Mirabel wanted to throw sand at them.

Right now she could only cross her arms as town children played with her.

It was even worse than just being by herself, but Mirabel was thankful they didn’t laugh at her, she would never live that down.

“How long are you going to be a baby?” Alejandra asked.

Mirabel held back a groan, it was an innocent question but it annoyed her. “For about a month.” Mirabel said.

“You’ve been one for a long time.” Cecilia complained, putting sand in a bucket. “You haven’t played with us in so long!”

“I know Cece, I wish I could.” Mirabel smiled apologetically. “But Dolores is sick and I need to help her.”

“Why not take her to the doctor?” Jorge asked.

“It’s….not that easy.” Mirabel shrugged. “I wish it was, but it isn’t.”

“Is Dolores sick?”

“Kinda.”

“How?” Cecilia tilted her head.

“It’s….” Mirabel struggled to find words, she sighed. “Something that runs in the family I guess.”

“Your family is weird.” Alejandra said, Cecilia glared at her. “What?”

Mirabel chuckled. “Yes they are.”

They all looked at each other, Mirabel sighed before smiling.

“Go and play.” She said. “Don’t stay in the sandbox just because I am.”

“But you’ll be lonely.” Cecilia whined.

“I won’t, I have.” Mirabel held back groaning and a roll of her eyes as she grabbed a stuffed cat. “Kitty with me.”

They didn’t budge.

“Come on guys, plus. Juancho will run into a tree again if you guys don’t stop him from drinking that coffee.” Mirabel pointed to Juancho who was running in circles.

They all looked at each other before getting up and leaving.

Cecilia hugged Mirabel. “Tell us when you can play with us again! You're more fun than Camilo.”

Mirabel chuckled. “I will, don’t worry.”

“Bye Mira!” Cecilia left going off with her friends.

Mirabel watched, once they left her sight she sighed, she looked over at the bench where Dolores was at, well was at.

Weird.

“Must’ve gone to the bathroom.” Mirabel shrugged, she looked over at the sandcastle the kids left, she smiled. “At least they don’t laugh at me.”

Suddenly, the sandcastle got kicked right in Mirabel’s face, sand flying across, thankfully nothing got in her eyes, she was never more happy for her glasses.

Mirabel sputtered out sand from around her lips, she wiped her mouth confused till she heard laughter.

“Aww, did the poor baby get sand in her mouth?” The mocking tone was loud and clear.

Mirabel swallowed, this is what she feared, she has people from her class hearing about this.

Shit.

Mirabel didn’t respond to them, hoping they’d leave her alone if she did.

“Oh, is the baby too widdle to speak for herself?” Her classmates mocked.

“Go away.” Mirabel muttered.

“Oh the baby can speak!” A girl painfully punched Mirabel’s cheeks causing Mirabel to squirm away from her.

“Ow!” Mirabel cried out rubbing her pinched cheek.

“Aww poor baby.” She mocked, patting Mirabel’s head condescendingly.

“Can you….just go?” Mirabel asked, her response was more sand being kicked in her face.

Mirabel coughed, where was Dolores?!

“Oh no little girl.” The boy cooed. “We can’t leave a baby by herself, she might get hurt.”

Mirabel’s eye twitched as she took a breath. “Look—hey!” She was cut off when she was shoved to the ground.

They all laughed, Mirabel blinked, she didn't understand why they were laughing.

“Oh the rumors are true!” One of them cackled. “She does wear diapers!”

Mirabel blushed and tried to sit up but she was held down by the boys.

“Aww, is the widdle girl all fussy?”

Mirabel couldn’t respond.

“Maybe she needs a diaper change~”

“No!” Mirabel tried to get up but couldn’t. “Just screw off!”

“Oh such naughty words, your Mamí needs to wash it out with soap~”

Mirabel didn’t respond, as the girl towered over her, Mirabel’s heart raced, Dolores was hearing this? Right? She had to.

Mirabel blushed even harder when she felt the girl pat her diaper, like she was a dog.

“Oh the baby isn’t all wet.” She teased.

Mirabel felt the tears burn her eyes.

She could handle Dolores’s crazy behaviors, she could handle her family’s relentless teasing, but she couldn’t handle her own classmates mocking her.

They’ve mocked her before.

But this would bring in a whole new level of mockery to her, school would be hell now.

Well more hell than it is.

“Please stop.” Mirabel whimpered.

“Aww, is the baby going to cry?” They all laughed as Mirabel turned her head away in shame.

“Aww poor baby, maybe she wants to play.” The stuffed kitty from earlier was shoved in Mirabel’s face.

Mirabel didn’t respond, she prayed that Dolores was coming back.

The fact the park was now empty scared Mirabel more.

She was so scared.

She didn’t know what to do.

Mirabel didn’t even realize that they had begun putting sand in the bucket that Cecilia had used to make a sandcastle.

“W-What are you doing?” Mirabel asked fearfully, thoughts crossed her mind on what they would do, pour it on her? Make her eat it? Or worse, pour it down her pampers.

Mirabel would rather eat sand than go through that, having sand in your clothes is one thing but diapers? Kill her now.

They didn’t respond to Mirabel making Mirabel squirm.

“Hold still baby.” They all cooed at her.

“Let me go!” Mirabel cried out. “Dolores-” a hand was put over her mouth.

“Don’t be so fussy.” The boy cooed.

Mirabel let tears stream down her cheeks as she waited for what would happen.

She was forced to sit up and Mirabel hung her head down.

Suddenly sand got poured on top of her head as they all laughed and mocked her.

“Look at her, she’s crying like a baby.”

“Aww poor baby, do you want a baba?”

“Or a diaper change?”

They all laughed, it sounded like gunshots to Mirabel’s ears as she covered them.

“What are you doing?” Dolores appeared behind the group, her face blank but tone low.

They all jumped and turned around, their confidence had vanished now replaced with fear.

“Oh Dolores!” The girl chuckled nervously. “We….we’re just….playing, yeah….”

“Oh really?” Dolores tilted her head with a smile. “That’s not what I heard.”

“W-We were!” The girl insisted. “S-She’s just a little sensitive is all….”

Mirabel curled up to her knees, sniffling.

“Oh?” Dolores still smiled sweetly. “To me it sounded like my daughter was scared and you harassed her for the fun of it.”

“We would never!” A boy shouted.

“Really? So pinning her down, pouring sand on her, kicking sand at her was not harassment?”

They didn’t respond.

Dolores’s face soon turned darkly and murderous as she glared at them. “Never touch my baby again or even speak to her, don’t even look at her. I’ll know if you do.”

“D-Dolores come on-”

“Would you like me to tell your father how you snuck how and let your boyfriend fuck you last week?”

The girl paled and backed down.

Dolores looked at the other girl. “Your grandmother would just love to hear what happened to her very expensive jewelry that you sold for some, what was it? Oh yes, condoms and lube.”

The girl backed away slowly, her hands raised like she was held at gun point. “P-Please don’t.”

Dolores looked at the boy. “Your parents wouldn’t be pleased to know you steal the alcohol and take it to parties, would they?”

He didn’t respond.

Dolores turned to the last boy. “Your father lost his watch last month didn’t he? I can happily tell him it’s at the pawn shop and who sold it.”

They all backed away from Dolores as she grinned smugly.

“Now, get the hell out of my sight.” Dolores growled.

They scurried like ants.

Dolores took a breath and turned to Mirabel. “Oh baby, Mamí is here now.”

She cradled Mirabel in her lap.

Mirabel only sniffled, it felt like her life was ruined now.

“Mamí was helping a woman who lost her child, I didn’t think some bullies would go to you, Mamí is sorry.” Dolores rocked Mirabel, wiping sand off her head.

Mirabel didn’t respond.

Dolores cradled Mirabel to her body. “Let’s go home, you need a bath and a nap, you can sleep with Mamí.”

Mirabel didn’t respond as she leaned on Dolores's shoulder.

At least she was saved.

Day 70

Mirabel shook her head, violently. “Ugh! I’m still finding sand in my hair!”

Camilo watched as Mirabel paced, so did Isabela.

Dolores had left, saying she needed to go to the store for more supplies for her baby.

Mirabel was being “babysat” by Isabela.

“It’ll all come out.” Isabela said soothingly.”

“Eventually.” Camilo added.

Mirabel scoffed. “Yeah, whatever.”

Isabela frowned. “You know, if you just gave me the names-”

“You’d harm them.” Mirabel interrupted.

“What? No, just….a little chat is all.” Isabela said with a smile.

Mirabel rolled her eyes. “Damnit, how much longer to I have of this hell?”

“A month.” Camilo said. “You're handling this well.”

“Well?! Well?! I’m tired of this!”

“Just try and chill.”

“I’m so done with this!” Mirabel crossed her arms.

Isabela chuckled. “It’s okay.”

“It’s not!”

“Aww is poor baby all cwanky?” Camilo cooed.

Mirabel glared at him.

“Poor baby.” Camilo chuckled.

Isabela laughed. “Come on sis, need help getting the sand out?”

“No.”

Isabela shrugged. “It can’t get any-”

“DON’T JINX IT!”

Isabela and Camilo looked at each other before they burst out laughing.

Mirabel growled.

She was so done.

So done.

Any longer and she will snap.

Her life at school was ruined.

Forever.

Camilo wiped his eyes. “It’s okay Mira, I’ll be sure you're left alone when school starts again.”

“Hmp.”

Isabela chucked while nodding. “Don’t worry about it, I’ll be sure they stay away.”

“You better, you all owe me.”

Isabela smiled. “Don’t worry baby girl.”

Mirabel growled, fuck this.

And fuck Dolores’s baby fever.

Day 77

“99 baby bottles of milk on the wall, 99 baby bottles of milk. Take one down and pass it around, 98 baby bottles of milk on the wall.”

“Mira.”

“98 baby bottles of milk on the wall, 98 baby bottles of milk. Take one down and pass it around, 97 baby bottles of milk on the wall.”

Julieta shook her head, Mirabel was losing her mind.

“97 baby bottles of milk on the wall, 97 baby bottles of milk. Take one down and pass it around, 96 baby bottles of milk on the wall.”.

“Mija, only two weeks left, be happy-”

“76 baby bottles of milk on the wall, 76 baby bottles of milk. Take one down and pass it around, 54 baby bottles of milk on the wall.”

“She’s not even counting right.” Bruno mused.

Mirabel’s head was laying flat on the couch, singing, trying to ignore her mind slipping away.

“Leave her alone.” Julieta said. “She’s having a tough time.”

“And?” Bruno shrugged. “People laughed at me, you didn’t see me complaining.”

“You cried.”

“….”

“Yeah, exactly.”

“67 baby bottles of milk on the wall, 67 baby bottles of milk. Take one down and pass it around, 68 baby bottles of milk on the wall.”

“Well she’s being a bit-”

“School is hard for her, no one if anyone in the damn school likes her.”

“What’s not to like about her?”

Julieta didn’t speak.

“Oh right.”

“And this, well.”

“Just made it worse?”

“Why do you think we’re not letting Dolores take her out anymore?”

“31 baby bottles of milk on the wall, 29 baby bottles of milk. Take one down and pass it around, 6 baby bottles of milk on the wall.”

“She’s losing it.” Bruno sipped his coffee. “Like really losing it.”

“Well at least she’s not writing in books and on the walls.”

“I only did that a couple times.”

“It took forever to clean up.”

“You should’ve stopped the whole thing!”

“Bruno, I have no memory of the whole thing, only photos and everyone else telling me what happened.”

Bruno huffed crossing his arms

“42 baby bottles of milk on the wall, 1 baby bottle of milk. Take one down and pass it around, 0 baby bottles of milk on the wall.”

“Are you done singing mija?” Juliet asked. “Do you want some food?”

“100 baby bottles of milk on the wall, 100-”

Julieta picked Mirabel up, pausing her from continuing the song. “I’ll make you some bandeja paisa with some arepas, okay? I’ll put some cheese in the arepas, your favorite.”

“Milk?”

“No milk.”

Mirabel chuckled weakly. “Thank you Mamá.”

“No problem mija.” Julieta had Mirabel sit in a chair.

Mirabel laid her head back down.

She was hungry.

She was tired.

“99 baby bottles of milk on the wall, 99 baby bottles of milk. Take one down and pass it around, 98 baby bottles of milk on the wall.”

Julieta sighed.

Bruno was right, Mirabel was losing her mind.

Well at least two weeks were left.

Day 84

Dolores rocked Mirabel as she napped, her baby was so fussy.

Always whining.

Babies.

There was a knock on her door before Mariano walked in.

“Oh Amor, I just put her down.” Dolores smiled.

“I can see….” Mariano walked in. “Amor, why don’t we go out tonight.”

“I’m busy.” Dolores said. “My baby needs me.”

“….you need a night, you look….exhausted.”

“Well she’s fussy.”

“Yeah….I can see.”

“She needs me.”

“Well….true, but.” Mariano walked up to her close. “I had something special planned tonight.”

“Oh?”

“We could eat out tonight, relax at my place….and well, see how it goes from there~”

Dolores smirked. “Now you have me intrigued~”

“Good, that was the idea.”

Dolores chuckled standing up still holding Mirabel. “I bought new condoms.”

“Oh good.”

“Yes, I’ll have Mamí babysit her tonight, wouldn’t you like that baby?” Dolores cooed to the sleeping Mirabel.

Mariano snorted.

This was never going to get old.

This was gold.

Poor Mirabel though.

Mirabel didn’t respond.

Dolores chuckled. “Pick me up at six, I want to spend time with my baby before me and her Papí spend a night together.”

“Ah, certainly.” Mariano nodded. “I’ll see you tonight Amor.” Mariano kissed her before leaving and closing the door.

Once the door closed he began laughing.

This family was crazy, really crazy. Would Isabela have been like this if they married? Would Isabela have kidnapped Mirabel? Or Camilo? What about Antonio?

He was confused about the whole baby fever thing, but it was funny, adorable too.

Mariano wiped his eyes, Mirabel won’t live this down for months.

Maybe years.

Mariano headed back home, he’ll get ready for his date, people murmured everyday about the baby fever.

People sympathize with Mirabel, others laughed at her, mocked her, Mirabel would have a hard time afterwards but her family wouldn’t let that go on for long.

He remembers hearing Pepa and Isabela talking about scaring some teens? Or something like that.

Mariano entered his home closing the door.

Señora Guzmán sat in her chair reading her book, looking up she smiled. “Oh mijo, how was your trip out?”

“Oh….great, I’m taking Dolores out.” Mariano said.

“….is she still-”

“Yes.”

“Oh poor dear.”

Mariano chuckled.

“I’m giving Dolores a ‘break’ from being a parent.” Mariano said. “For the night.”

“I see.”

“Hopefully to help Mirabel.” Mariano began walking to his room.

Mrs. Guzmán sipped her tea. “Be sure to close your door this time.”

Mariano paused, winching. “Yes Mamá….”

Mrs. Guzmán chuckled as Mariano closed his door.

She’ll never miss a chance to embarrass her son.

Never.

Day 91

Mirabel ignored Bruno’s snickering as she colored on some paper.

Bruno had a notepad in his lap and was taking notes.

“Certainly having fun, aren’t we Mira?”

“Shut up.” Mirabel hissed

“What? I’m only asking a question.”

Mirabel rolled her eyes. “I’m not watching this television.”

“My best one, Baby Fever Over The Encanto.” Bruno said. “You guys will love it.”

“I won’t.”

“I know.” Bruno still smiled.

Mirabel rolled her eyes.

Dolores walked in. “Hi baby, are you coloring?”

“I’m clearly writing a curse on you.” Mirabel replied sarcastically.

Dolores looked at the picture. “Aww is that a kitty?”

“Yes.”

“It’s a nice kitty baby.”

“Stop talking.”

Dolores picked Mirabel up. “Your a little artist.”

“Shut up!”

“Oh fussy.” Dolores cooed.

Bruno took notes, grinning.

“Ugh!”

“Time for some num nums.”

“I already ate!”

“And your baba before your nap.”

“I HATE MILK!”

Bruno cackled. “Oh this is gold!”

“I HATE MY LIFE!”

Dolores grabbed some fruit and put Mirabel on a chair. “Stay there baby.”

“Give me a knife.” Mirabel growled.

“Mamí is cutting you fruit.”

“Cut your tongue off.” Mirabel crossed her arms.

Dolores hummed a tone as she cut the fruit.

Once the fruit was cut she put it on a plate and gave it to Mirabel.

Mirabel grumpily ate the fruit.

Dolores kissed Mirabel’s head. “Good girl, Mamí wil make your baba.”

“I hate milk forever now.”

Bruno laughed. “I feel your pain, I couldn’t look at milk for months.”

“I think I’m going to throw up if I’m given applesauce again.”

Bruno chuckled. “Yeah, but look at the bright side, a few more days, eh?”

“I’m hiding in my room.”

“Yeah, hide for a few days, come out, be pissed, the confusion for Dolores.”

“You're not helpful.”

“I know.” Bruno smiled. “But this is fun for me.”

“Of course it is.”

“Look at the bright side, Camilo or Antonio might be the baby next time, you’ll laugh at them.”

Mirabel didn’t respond.

“Wonder who will have baby fever next time.”

“Does it just happen randomly or are there signs?” Mirabel asked.

“It happens randomly, Pepa was fine the next day, no talk about babies and boom! I woke up in Pepa’s room the next morning.” Bruno shrugged. “It’s weird.”

“It is.” Mirabel scrunched her face up. “I hate it.”

“I know kid.”

“Oh baby, Mamí has you baba.”

“Ugh!”

Dolores came over and picked Mirabel up. “Open wide baby.” She shoved the bottle in Mirabel’s mouth.

Bruno snickered as Dolores carried Mirabel away.

Bruno looked over his notes. “My rats will enjoy this.”

ᰔᩚ

Mirabel woke up to someone shaking her, she brushed them off. “Five more minutes, I don’t need a baba.”

“Mirabel.”

“I’m clean I swear….” Mirabel began to snore softly.

“Mirabel!”

Mirabel jumped and looked at Dolores.

Dolores looked at Mirabel confused and curious.

Mirabel stared back. “….hey.”

“Why are you in my room? And why are you in a crib? Why are you in a red onesie?”

Mirabel blinked before it hit her. “YES FINALLY!” She jumped out the crib but fell face first onto the floor.

“Oh my god Mirabel.” Dolores gasped and went to help her but Mirabel got up and ran out her door leaving Dolores confused.

Once out Dolores’s door Mirabel laughed loudly. “PRAISE THE LORD I’M FREE!”

Everyone stopped eating and looked at her confused.

“HALLELUJAH!” Mirabel ran to her room.

Dolores soon came out, looking confused. “Can someone explain what is happening?”

“Oh it’s over.” Julieta said.

Pepa snorted. “Oh mija, you have three months to catch up on.”

“What?”

Alma shook her head. “Well tell you over breakfast, come eat.”

Dolores blinked but went downstairs and sat down. “What’s happening?”

Pepa got up. “I’ll be back.” She giggled and left.

Dolores looked at everyone. “What?”

Alma sighed. “You got baby fever.”

“….huh?”

“You got baby fever.” Julieta said. “You used Mirabel as your ‘baby’ and treated her like one, dressed her up like a baby, gave her baby bottles, applesauce and other foods you’d give babies. You put her in diapers, a crib, bathed her, took her out in the town, she put her down for naps, oh and take her to the park.”

Dolores stared at her before bursting out laughing. “Is this a joke?” She asked between giggles.

“Mirabel wished it was.” Isabela said. “But it’s real.”

“No.”

“Yeah.”

Dolores blinked. “I need proof.”

Pepa came down with the photo album in hand and handed it to Dolores. “Here mija.” She gave the book to her.

Dolores opened the book and saw photos of her and Mirabel.

Her giving an angry Mirabel a bottle, rocking Mirabel, Mirabel sleeping in the crib from earlier, Mirabel looking very pissed on the floor.

In each photo Mirabel was dressed in red in an outfit meant for a baby.

Dolores stared before snorting. “What?”

“This is normal.” Pepa said. “Me and Julie had baby fever, Bruno was our ‘son’ for three months.”

“I lost six months of my life.” Bruno said.

“Wait, Mirabel was my ‘baby’ for three months?” Dolores asked, everyone nodded.

“She was slowly losing her mind.” Camilo said. “Any longer and she would’ve been scribbling on the walls.”

“Bruno did.” Alma said. “Six months of babying he was muttering to himself.”

“Maybe that’s why he didn’t go crazy while in the walls.” Luisa muttered. “He went through a different type of hell anyway.”

“I miss the quiet.” Bruno mumbled.

“Aww, does Brunito want a nap?” Pepa cooed.

“SHUT THE FUCK UP!” Bruno slammed his hands on the table, they all jumped but Pepa and Juliet.

Pepa giggled. “Aww poor-”

“Pepa please.” Julieta said. “Don’t rile him up.”

“But it’s fun.” Pepa whined.

“Never call me that again.” Bruno growled.

“Aw, so fussy~”

Bruno got up and stormed off.

Pepa giggled, Alma shook her head as Julieta rubbed her temples.

Dolores looked at the photos closely. “Mariano and Mirabel?”

“Oh yeah, Mariano became a Papí.” Isabela said. “He was a good one, took you out on dates so Mirabel could have a break.”

“Oh….well at least I didn’t take her out in public, can you imagine.” Dolores chuckled.

Camilo sighed and flipped over a page and pointed to the news article taped in the book.

Dolores blinked before paling. “Oh no….”

“It’s okay, we've been dealing with it.” Pepa said. “No one will bother Mira.”

“I should apologize….”

“Do it after a week, give her time to cool down.” Pepa said. “She’ll be very pissy for a bit.”

“Right….” Dolores groaned. “Why?”

“It happens.” Pepa soothed. “This is normal for this family.”

“….yeah….okay.”

Mirabel left her room, and skipped down the hall. “I’m free, I’m free, I’m free!”

Julieta nodded. “You are mija.”

“Finally! Freedom!” Mirabel spun in a circle. “No more bottles! No more diapers! No more naps! I’M FREE!”

“Okay let’s sit down and eat.” Alma said. “Before we start celebrating….Mirabel’s freedom.”

“Right right.” Mirabel sat down, twiddling her thumbs, she didn’t glance at Dolores.

Dolores looked down, she’ll make up embarrassing her later, when she can look at her.

“Here girls.” Julieta gave Dolores and Mirabel plates of food, eggs, arepas, and pancakes. “I kept it safe from Camilo.”

“Hey!”

Mirabel laughed while taking the plate. “Real food!” She began eating like a wolf.

“Not even Milo eats like that.” Félix said snickering.

“I would think she’s never eaten before.” Agustín shook his head.

Dolores watched, concerned. “D-Did I starve her?”

“Oh no, she’s just enjoying her freedom.” Pepa said.

“Oh….”

“She acts like she is though.” Isabela said.

Mirabel finished her food in five minutes, she licked her lips. “Delicious Mamá.”

Julieta nodded. “Thank you mija.”

Dolores stared at her plate, the food looked good but her stomach turned. “I’m not hungry.” She pushed her plate away and left heading to her room.

They all watched but Mirabel.

“I’ll take her plate.” Mirabel offered with a smile.

Julieta sighed but nodded.

“Hey why does she get the food?!” Camilo whined.

“When you are held in captivity and fed nothing but babas, you get the second plate.” Mirabel said while eating Dolores’s food.

What fucking delicious meal.

ᰔᩚ

A day had passed already and Dolores was in her room, her bathroom heaving over the toilet.

Did she get a cold?

Dolores groaned.

Why did she throw up this morning? And yesterday after she left the table?

Dolores began think three months had passed and she can’t recall a single thing.

“No….” Dolores stood up. “If we did we used protection right?”

Dolores flushed the toilet and grabbed a box hidden behind her towels, a pregnancy test.

She bought it just in case.

Reading the instructions Dolores did as the instructions did and waited.

Patiently.

It was agonizing.

Dolores tapped her foot nervously, trying to calm her nerves down.

Dolores took a breath before picking up the pregnancy test.

Dolores froze in place, two lines.

Two lines.

Dolores collapsed to the floor before she felt the bile rise in her throat, she vomited in the toilet holding the pregnancy test.

Once she finished vomiting Dolores stared at the test in her hands.

“Oh fuck me.”

She was pregnant.
