“Hello young lady, would you like to see a magic trick?” A man wearing a purple hat said. The young lady stayed quiet, unsure of what she would answer with. She did a slow awkward nod.
The man lifted her and put a bracelet on her arm. It was a white chain bracelet with an emerald gem in the middle. She was fine with it for now.
“Now, if I slowly put my hand up like this.” He raised his hands up like he was going to punch her. Her eyes widened from shock. She opened her mouth to start talking but it was too late.
She closed her eyes bracing herself for the hit. She heard a bit of yelling, but she felt nothing. She opened her eyes and the man was nowhere near her. “Does this mean I can keep it?” She thought.
Unfortunately her questions were not answered. One, because she did not ask, two, because the man was already talking to someone else, and three, one of her acquaintances that she was traveling with was already pulling her away.

A necklace, but what for? It was a pearl necklace with a few sapphires in the middle. She tapped on the middle gem softly. “It just really reminds me of you,” a friend of hers said. Was it because it was blue? She just wore the blue because it was what color her favorite hoodie was, she’s not actually a blue fan. Or was she?
It was a nice necklace. She put it on, struggled with the closing of it, but she did put it on. “Yeah it’s really nice, thanks.”

Despite the nice atmosphere and the lack of sound, she felt uncomfortable in her environment. She felt that these items came to her because there was going to be trouble soon.
That maybe, a disaster will happen near the hotel they were staying at or a mass murderer was near them and would kill everyone there.
That’s why it was given to her, right?

The people who she would have not spent any time with if it weren’t for a fact that she joined them from not liking things we’re talking to each other and here she was sulking.
She sat closer to the fireplace, glaring at it with her deep brown eyes that would’ve looked black if it weren’t for the fire. Maybe could just kill herself before the natural or unnatural disaster got to her. She pinched the fire that only moved from her.
She was annoyed at it and attempted it again. It moved away from her fingers. She moves them away. It shapes itself back into a regular fire position. She snarled at it and flipped it off. The fire moved up by the shape of her hand.
Now she was just confused. She tried other positions. A hand flower makes it look like a bowl, she moves her hands out with only the thumbs touching and it spreads itself out. She closes her hands making a harsh clapping sound. It lets itself out.
She extended the poses to her arms. Shaping them to emphasize an actual fire. She folds her arms into each other. Then she lifts one of them up and swivels it up. The fire makes itself go up. She shapes her hands into a claw making the fire jump out of its place. She’s lucky it didn’t go on her. She wonders what would happen if she were to just, hold her arms out like—
“Why is that plant burning?” Someone asked. The young woman turns around. No no, this has to be a mistake. “She’s new, you shouldn’t expect her to immediately get it,” someone else added. She didn’t mean to! “Water cup!” A young man yelled, tossing the cup to make water spill out of it. “It didn’t work!” He cried.
“I got the fire extinguisher!” That’s good. “Great now it’s spreading, good job.” Yet the only thing she did was cry, “I hate fires!”

Chapter 2: Oh magic— what?
Chapter Text
It was morning. A door to a shop opened. A short woman rushed through it. She started picking up the first piece of jewelry she saw. “No, not it!” She muttered. She put it back carelessly. She picked up a few necklaces and analyzed their colors. She turned the labels around and grumbled in disappointment.
She places those back in the same area and runs to a different part of the store. She grabbed a couple small bracelets and tried them on her right wrist. She felt unsure. So she just yelled out. “WOULD ANYONE LIKE TO BE APART OF A SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENT???” One of the workers of the shop came up to the small woman.
“What seems to be the problem?” He asked. He looked down at her. “Oh uhh those only work on actual arms,” he said. The woman slowly took off one of them. “You can still keep them if you want—”
