Chapter 1: A Chance Meeting
Chapter Text
Fontaine truly was a beautiful nation. Clean, well kept, crime at a minimum. Most were friendly, and it was easy to find somewhere to get what he needed.
Kaeya rarely drank coffee, but on recommendation from a local he'd accidentally bumped into, he figured he should at least take her recommendation along with owing an apology. The taste was smooth and rich, with just the right amount of cream and sugar to tone it down.
He heard much talk in his exploration, including gossip about nobles and those in charge of the nation. With their Archon gone, it had fallen on the shoulders of one Chief Justice to run the nation on top of the work he'd already done. Kaeya barely liked doing paperwork on a good day, so he certainly couldn't imagine being that busy.
A conversation with him would be interesting, but for what reason would they cross paths? Kaeya hummed to himself, sipping his coffee, enjoying the afternoon sun as his mind wandered.
Neuvillette rarely left the office but after several gestionnaires had suggested he should get some air he went for a walk.
He found himself down by the cafe where he decided to go with a fragrant tea. Letting the sea air blow his hair around he looks around the seated patrons.
Kaeya couldn't ignore the graceful way the man moved, holding himself tall and proper. The warmth in his stomach told him how interested he was.
Seeing his expensive looking robes, the Knight could only conclude that this was the elusive Iudex of Fontaine. Usually, he'd opt for something simple, like accidentally spilling something, but he didn't want to ruin those gorgeous robes. Instead, Kaeya's silver tongue would do the work.
He got up to get himself another drink, something less strong this time, and he approached the table with his usual charm and confidence.
"Monsieur, I couldn't help but think you looked rather lonely. Would you mind if I joined you?"
Turning around he sees a gentleman who seems to be from far away. With a furrowed brow he gives a confused look through lavender slitted eyes.
“My apologies, I don’t believe I’ve had the pleasure of making your acquaintance.”
The Knight flashed a pleasant smile, bowing his head politely.
"Ah, yes, apologies. My name is Kaeya, I'm from Mondstadt," he said, thanking the cafe staff that brought over his new drink.
“Ah Monstadt, I’ve had the pleasure of sampling water from Cider Lake.” A brief wistful look ghosts over his face before the mask of impartial neutrality returns.
With a polite nod of the head. “I am Monsieur Neuvillette, I do hope you enjoy your time in Fontaine Monsieur Kaeya.”
"I can't say I've tasted Cider Lake's water before," Kaeya hummed, slightly amused but all the same fascinated.
The name rang around in his head for a moment, and he leaned on the back of a chair. "Say, you don't happen to be the same Neuvillette I've heard speak of stepping up when this Nation lost their Archon, are you?"
“I am the same. Yes. I am in fact only on a small break and must go back to that very same task.” He looks down at the tea as if suddenly disappointed.
“Curious, I find myself wishing this were fresh water from Cider Lake instead.”
"Ah, an honour, Monsieur. You are doing incredible things for this Nation. Fontaine has been incredible to explore," he said smoothly.
"Perhaps you should take some time off in the coming weeks and visit Mondstadt, you could experience the waters fresh from the source."
Neuvillette hums tunelessly as he rests his chin on his hand. “That sounds quite lovely except I have a country in transition and cannot be gone on vacation.”
He tries to hide his disappointment as soon as he can. What an odd day he has had today. Normally he’s not quite so distracted.
"Now I find that hard to believe," Kaeya said, his words a gentle purr. "Surely there's someone that you trust enough to take over for you while you take some time for yourself?"
Kaeya noticed the distant look in Neuvillette's eyes, sitting himself down in the chair. "Monsieur, forgive me if this is too forward, but you seem most distracted. Is something bothering you?"
"Forgive me, I am not generally one to be so distracted. I only came out for a break on the insistence of the gestionnaires." The man's voice was pleasant. He found he liked it. There was a lilt to his accent, the cadence felt pleasant.
"As for others I trust. The one I had trusted stepped down. The mantle to govern falls to me. I am told delegating responsibility is not my strong suit."
Kaeya nodded in understanding. "Ah, yes, how familiar I am with such a mindset. Our dear Acting Grandmaster also suffers difficulties with delegating," he says, sipping at his own drink.
"Perhaps while you make the most of this break I can lend you my ear, hm? Unload some of your burden, get your worries off your chest. It usually helps to talk about what keeps you up at night."
Neuvillette rubs his temples, then leans on his cane. "I suppose I have been wearing more hats than I used to so to speak."
He sighs. "I simply am never ‘not needed urgently’ for something."
He waves his hand to dismiss any further concern. "Enough about my problems. Have you been enjoying Fontaine? Are you visiting someone here? Has anyone been showing you around?"
"Share your burdens with me, if that isn't too forward of me. I'm sure I can help you to relax," Kaeya offered.
"Fontaine is beautiful, I've been having a wonderful time. The Melusines have been a great help in exploration and finding the best spots. I am not visiting, no, I'm here for my own desires."
A genuine gentle smile crests the Iudex’s face. “I’m so glad my melusines were helpful. They are beautiful, kind creatures. I’m so glad you’ve found them helpful.”
Neutral impartiality slips back into his features as he coughs into his hand.
“My burdens are not so heavy that I need to trouble your shoulders. As you’ve shown kindness to my melusines I’d like to offer you a dinner this evening with me at the Hotel Debord. Do you know it?”
Neuvillette's smile was beautiful. Radiant. It lit up his face and Kaeya couldn't help but smile in return. "They have been a delight, each one a different joy to speak with."
The Knight was slightly upset that the smile faded so fast, but he understood. He hummed in thought. "I believe that's the one I have a room in, actually. A beautiful place, full of history according to a melusine who patrols there. I do owe her a conversation about it before I go back to Mondstadt, she promised to tell me the extended history in exchange for a sweet and a handful of trinkets."
Nodding along softness returns to Neuvillette’s eyes.
“Ah yes that is the Hotel. Apologies, I don’t always understand social graces and human exchanges. Was that an acceptance to my dinner invitation?”
"I'd be delighted to join you, Monsieur," Kaeya said smoothly, offering a warm smile, taking mental note of the way he said human exchanges. Was Neuvillette not a human? How bizarre. That was going to be something worth investigating, if only for his own curiosity.
“Wonderful. I’m quite pleased to have made your acquaintance.” Pulling out an antique highly polished pocket watch he clicks his tongue.
“Unfortunately, I have time sensitive documents that require my attention for the next number of hours. I will meet you promptly at seven this evening for our meal, if you are amenable.”
Kaeya stood, politely bowing his head. "Seven is perfect, I'll meet you outside the hotel," he agreed, smiling charmingly.
"If I may continue to be so bold, could I perhaps interest you in some company on your walk back to work? I'd hate to see the smile I've brought out of you fade with your lonely walk."
“Hmmm my smile?” A wistful expression ghosts the Iudex’s face as he casts his eyes down to the pavement. “
You have shown my melusine daughters tremendous kindness and patience. I have great affection for them all.”
Standing he takes the stranger in fully. Polite, refined but without the unctuous saccharine overtures the nobility of Fontaine normally used on him to curry favor.
This gentleman was a curiosity. One that he thought might be an intrigue to indulge.
“It is a quick walk. I do not wish to impose on your holiday further than I already have.”
"You see them as daughters," he hums, a great deal of respect behind the thought and the words. "They speak highly of you. You mean a great deal to all of them."
He flashes one of his most charming smiles, his eye glinting in the daylight with mischief and curiosity. "I have no schedule to adhere to, and you're certainly not imposing. I find your company enjoyable. You are an interesting man, Monsieur Neuvillette." He paused for a moment, a breathy chuckle passing his lips. "I had also hoped that perhaps you could advise me of the best place to find the trinkets my melusine friend has requested in exchange for the history of the hotel."
A delighted chuckle pours from the Iudex. “I have a drawer of these trinkets. I suppose now you must accompany me. It seems we were fated to meet as it were.”
This man was refreshing and his smile was infectious. How did he carry himself so lightly? He had mentioned the acting grand master with some familiarity. Just who was this Monsieur Kaeya?
"It seems we were, yes, though I find this to be a delight myself," Kaeya chuckled, motioning for the Iudex to take a step ahead of him, then dropping a few mora onto their table for the cafe staff.
“Forgive me, I am unsure if I’m addressing you properly Monsieur Kaeya. Are you a titled Knight of Monstadt?” Inquisitive lavender eyes look up at the knight.
"Ah, I'm the Cavalry Captain," he answered, shaking his head briefly. "But Kaeya is just fine, no need for my title. I'm not here on business, I'm here as just Kaeya."
Neuvillette takes note of the Captain’s generosity. Curious that a titled man would insist his honorific be dropped. In his experience men of importance clung to these formalities as if they granted them life.
“Monsieur Just Kaeya it will be then. Please follow me this way.” He walks them towards the central plaza.
His cane clicking along with his neat precise heeled steps.
A laugh was startled from Kaeya as he fell into step with Neuvillette, surprised by the humour he displayed despite previously being confused by a human's way of speaking.
"Tell me more about the melusines," Kaeya requested as they walked together. "Why is it that they request trinkets for the favours they're asked for?"
Stepping past the large fountain and turning towards the transit department Neuvillette still has a wistful small smile on his face.
“The melusines are fascinated with humanity. They love learning everything about human culture and way of life and seek to emulate it.”
Smiling and waving at a melusine skipping through the corridor he continues in a soft low voice. “To this end they have found value in small metal cogs. They trade them to show appreciation and thank one another when they do a job well.”
"Ah, so in the same way us humans would exchange mora," Kaeya said with a nod of understanding. "That makes perfect sense."
He kept pace with the Iudex, storing away the information on the melusines in order to not upset or offend them at all. They could be valuable allys in the future.
"Yes that is correct, I must say your eye color is remarkable"
Kaeya blinks, startled by the sudden compliment. He smiles, though, expression soft.
"That's very kind of you, Monsieur, thank you," he says.
“You are most welcome. Your close proximity allowed me to take note.” Furrowing his brow he steps onto the lift pressing the button for the top floor. Turning around to face the Captain he continues.
“I confess that I don’t quite understand how a statement of observation is a kindness Monsieur Kaeya. I simply stated an observation. It’s true I’ve never seen eyes quite like yours.”
"And you'll never see eyes like mine again," he said smoothly, not even thinking about it. He chuckled to himself upon realizing. "Apologies, that was very forward of me. Kindness comes in observation because not many compliment the things they observe. It's kindness because it makes people feel good, and feel noticed."
He leant casually on the edge of the elevator as it rose, a smile still on his lips. "Humans are strange, we have odd ways of showing kindness, but observations like that are often a part of that kindness, so thank you Monsieur, for showing me such kindness."
"I should be the one thanking you. Most people find my curiosity and questions trying and burdensome. You have at least given me more to ponder. I appreciate it."
The lift meets its destination. "The Palais Mermonia is right ahead. You won't need to worry yourself with security. You are with me, that will suffice."
Kaeya shook his head, meeting Neuvillette's eyes. "It's no trouble at all, without questions, there are no answers."
The Knight looked around as they walked, eyes roaming up the tall building. "An iconic feature of the Nation, I've read much about the Palais."
Neuvillette nods. "Indeed, and where I spend the majority of my time."
Neuvillette walks with purpose, the Palais is where he feels most comfortable. The maison gardiennage on patrol simply stands to the side. "Monsieur Kaeya is with me."
Receiving a silent nod in reply Neuvillette gestures towards large ornate heavy wooden doors. "This way please"
"I can see why you'd need to take time every so often," Kaeya said, nodding politely to the maisons on patrol.
He motioned for the Iudex to lead the way, following in step and greeting those who looked at him with warm, polite smiles.
Neuvillette takes note of how this man seems comfortable and warm no matter where he goes. Another curiosity he tucks away.
Soon he stands in front of the large imposing doors to his office. "Sedene, I did take a break as suggested. I have some business with Monsieur Kaeya for a brief moment before my appointments continue. Also make sure to make a reservation at Hotel Debord this evening for two for me. Thank you."
Serious watchful eyes look over the new guest, then the little melusine smiles at Neuvillette. "Of course Monsieur Neuvillette."
Opening the doors into the large office Neuvillette swiftly covers the floor to his large imposing desk. "Here we are Monsieur Kaeya. I am back at my office. Once I get those trinkets you are relieved of your mission."
"Sedene seems distrustful of me," he commented, looking around the large, lavish office.
"Of course, I'll get out of your hair so you can get on with your work. I appreciate your kindness and generosity, Monsieur, I am in your debt." He bowed at the waist, tail of his hair falling forward at the brief movement.
Waving dismissively Neuvillette chuckles to himself. "Sedene takes her job very seriously Monsieur and trusts no one but me. She used to give that same look to even Lady Furina. Do not take it to heart."
He opens a lower drawer of his desk. Tinkering sounds of several small metal bobbins rolling into each other follows suit. With a look of satisfaction the Iudex stands straight and hands a small satchel to Kaeya.
"These should suffice. I look forward to further conversation later. I -" stopping mid sentence his brow furrows in confusion.
"Oddly, I find myself hesitant to allow the conversation to end. I am further frustrated by the knowledge that I have much work to finish."
"Monsieur, are you suggesting you'll miss me?" Kaeya teased, taking the satchel with a thankful smile. "You are a very busy, very important man, you have much to do. But don't worry, I'll be on time for dinner this evening and we can continue our talk. Knight's honour."
Kaeya gave another polite bow, then turned on his heel to leave the office and let Neuvillette work. "I'll see you at seven, Monsieur Neuvillette. I look forward to our talk."
Neuvillette watches the intriguing man leave. Closing the desk drawer he pulls himself up to his desk. Pulling the next document up he pauses.
"Miss him?" he says out loud to himself. "I wonder what he meant by that?"

Chapter Text
The hours flew by as Neuvillette parsed through his work diligently.
At the hour of seven o'clock promptly Neuvillette walked through the doors of the Hotel Debord.
Kaeya stopped at a small stall for something sweet on his way back from the Palais Mermonia, and he spent the promised time with his new Melusine friend when he got back to the hotel, feeling joy in the way the little being lit up at the sight of the treasures and the sweets. In turn, she told Kaeya all about the history of the hotel.
He spent a bit of time freshening up once back in his room, and at three minutes to seven, he was waiting down in the foyer for Neuvillette.
He smiled brightly and waved the Iudex over when he arrived, greeting him with a bow of his head.
"I'm glad you finished your work in time to make it, Monsieur," he said. "Your little Melusine friend who patrols here is wonderful company, and she's incredibly knowledgeable about this place. I must've spent hours talking to her."
"Ah wonderful. I was hoping you would be punctual." a now familiar smile graces his face at the mention of his melusines. "Yes she is incredibly bright. I am pleased she kept you company so well"
A waiter immediately waved them over and gestured to a private area secluded from the main dining room. "Your regular table Monsieur Neuvillette. I will bring your favored water."
"Actually, instead of Chenyu Vale I would like a selection from Cider Lake Monstadt please." Neuvillette takes a seat at the elegantly set table.
"May I get you a beverage Monsieur?" The waiter turns expectantly to Kaeya
Kaeya waits for Neuvillette to sit before joining him. "I'll take a glass of wine please, the Dawn Winery red if you keep it, but if not I'll have your recommendation," he said, smiling thankfully to the waiter.
He turns his attention to Neuvillette, arms resting on the table neatly. "I do believe she said her name was Ahes? I can't be certain, they have very different names to us."
Picking up the napkin Neuvillette unfolds it neatly placing it on his lap. "Yes Ahes has recently left her village and joined me here."
He takes a sip of the water and closes his eyes reverently. "Monstadt water is always so crisp and fresh. Optimism radiates from the refreshing aftertaste." red tinges the tips of his ears.
"My apologies. I am told my ramblings on water are tiresome and boring."
Kaeya chuckled. "Has anyone ever told you that you apologise too much, Monsieur?"
He thanked the waiter when his wine was delivered, taking a sip and humming as he licked his lips. "As expected of such a wonderful place, Dawn Winery's finest."
He turned his attention back to the Iudex, noticing the way his ears sat differently to how other peoples would. "So you were telling me about the taste of Mondstadt's water? As a Mond native, I can't say I've ever known water to taste different other than between rivers, waterfalls and the ocean."
Neuvillette's rhinophores twitched slightly and glowed dimly in the candlelight.
"Why yes. Water carries emotions within it. All waters have an original source. Where they end up captures the feelings of every being that touches it. This of course will color the taste of the water. This particular bottle seems to have been bottled during the Windblume festival. I taste hope, whimsy." Closing his eyes he swills the water around his mouth concentrating.
"Ah that is what it is, a tinge of melancholy and pining. Quite a remarkable bottle."
Kaeya's brows furrowed in concentration as he listened, fascinated by what Neuvillette was saying. He'd never heard anything like this before.
"You... I hope I don't seem rude but you are the strangest person I've come across in all my life. I've never heard anyone talk about water the way you do," he said honestly. "Water can hold emotions? A very old friend of mine once said that, but I didn't realise there was a truth to it."
Neuvillette nods. "Water holds memories as well. Perhaps tomorrow you can meet me at the Fountain of Lucine in front of the Opera House. I must be there for a trial in the morning. It is the place All-waters of Fontaine converge."
Sipping the water again he closes his eyes and sits a beat or two quietly. He smiles gently looking directly at the Captain. "Even in bottled water powerful memories can be imprinted into the water. The woman who bottled this water was just recently married. Her happiness and thoughts of her betrothed still linger in the water."
Kaeya was listening to every word as he sipped his wine, totally enamoured with the passion that was in every word Neuvillette spoke on the topic.
"Yes, I'd be delighted to join you. I'll be there," he said, nodding. "What gives you the ability to understand water this way?"
"It is just part of who I am." picking up the menu. His eyes are unfocused. Looking through the menu without reading anything.
"Please order anything you wish. As I said this is my treat for your generosity with my melusines. If there is any dish you haven't tried yet or wish to sample anything or everything on the menu. It is on me Monsieur Just Kaeya." The smallest hint of a smirk curls his mouth at his attempt at humor
"I would be quite pleased to give you more history of the Opera and Fountain. Apologies again, I have been talking this whole time."
"I've never known anyone else to have this ability," he said, gently nudging for more information.
Kaeya almost snorted into his wine when he heard the comment. He laughed lightly. "I'd love to hear the history, that would be a wonderful start to the day. But please, Monsieur, stop apologising. There is nothing to apologise for."
"As you said earlier today Monsieur, you never will meet anyone else again with such an ability."
He looks up from the menu seeing the waiter approach. "Ah wonderful. I will have the consommé please."
"I certainly won't," Kaeya agreed. "That does imply you're the only one that has this ability, though."
He looks over the menu a multitude of times, seeing a few things that catch his eye. He finally settles on something and addresses the waiter. "Hmm. I think I'll try the tasses ragout, thank you."
“Excellent choices messieurs, I will get those orders in for you. May I get anything else for you?”
As the waiter pauses Neuvillette raises his finger pointing at the wine list. “May I also have a glass of the vintage Monsieur Kaeya is drinking”
“Of course Monsieur Neuvillette, right away.”
As the waiter hurries away Neuvillette turns his lavender reptilian eyes to Kaeya.
“Yes, correct, I am the only one that has this ability. As you are the only one with a uniquely starred eye.”
Kaeya is pleasantly surprised that Neuvillette opted to have some wine, but he was pleased that he was going to try it.
And then shock crossed his face, his smile fading as he lifted his hand to make sure his eyepatch was in place over his other eye. How...?
"How did you...." he trailed off, unable to even process that someone knew about his eye.
As the waiter drops off Neuvillette’s wine with a discreet bow. Neuvillette takes a small sip. Brows furrow as the complex flavors compete for dominance on his taste buds.
“Extraordinary, it’s robust yet understated. Smooth, refined, the aftertaste lingers without a harsh bitter taste.” Noticing Kaeya’s distress he sets the glass down puzzled.
“Monsieur, you look troubled. Have I said something wrong?”
Kaeya packs away the compliment about his brother's wine for later, knowing Diluc would internally be grateful to hear that his wine is enjoyed by the Iudex of Fontaine.
Instead, he focused on information that wasn't known to anyone except others like him.
"I don't know what you are, Monsieur, but there's no way you could know about my eye. I've never shown it to anyone, nor have I been a moment in your company without my eyepatch," he said quietly, not wanting anyone overhearing this discussion.
“Ah yes, your comment earlier had me doing some research.”
Realizing he had the intriguing man’s full attention seemed to disturb his unflappability. He was babbling again but he needed to put the man’s mind at ease.
“I pulled more Monstadt water from my reserve. There is a fresh water spring there that is quite delicious. As I said, Monsieur water carries memories. It seems you did not always wear that patch, not as a child playing in the spring at least.”
There is a strange heat crawling up his neck threatening to splash onto his cheeks. He adjusts his cravat hoping to alleviate the discomfort.
“My deepest apologies I forget how unnerving that can be.”
Kaeya felt his own blush forming as he hid his frown behind the rim of his wine glass. No one else knew a thing from his childhood with Diluc. And Diluc still, after all this time, didn't know the entire truth about Kaeya's reason for being found in Mond in the first place.
"Monsieur, what else have you learned about me from that water?" he asked cautiously, not wanting to give himself away while trying to find out how hidden his secrets still were.
“I simply have impressions, glimpses. In that particular glimpse. There was joy, comfort, hmm” he steeples his fingers together as he searches his thoughts.
“Some sense of relief of belonging. Your smile is still infectious Monsieur.”
Kaeya was relieved internally. He was going to leave it at that, nothing else needed to be said here, especially not about himself.
"It seems that if those emotions are the case, you have witnessed the memory of the first time I really felt comfort after being adopted into a loving family," he explained, letting his body relax. This man was mysterious, keeping his cards close to his chest, but Kaeya was happy for a challenge. He was good at his job, and his job often included getting answers from people unwilling to be open.
“I’m sorry your childhood had moments when you did not feel accepted, Monsieur Kaeya.”
Shifting in his seat he marvels at the dichotomy of this enigma. He could now sense a pervading loneliness from him. It was a feeling he himself was familiar with and mostly at peace with.
Tucking that away he softens his tone. “You seem so at ease with yourself and among strangers. Most would never know you harbored that past.”
Kaeya waved it off, pulling his charm back out to hopefully avoid any further talk of his childhood. "I have adapted and overcome it as I've gotten older. I am still young, of course, but I have gained confidence in myself and my abilities, and it allows me to be the way I am. My past is forgotten and not spoken of for a reason; no one needs to know, and no one needs to feel sorry for me. I am right where I need and want to be."
He let the silence linger for a minute or two, needing to get his head on straight and push down the memories. He needed to come up with a plan to get the Iudex to open up to him. He had a lot of questions now with minimal answers.
Comfortable in silence Neuvillette watches the man. He’s used to the typical scheming of nobility and merchants. There was something under the surface that intrigued him.
The mix of self deprecation and confidence was unusual to him. He found himself sipping the wine as he thought. It’s warmth coloring his cheeks.
Their food arrived with little disruption to their quiet pondering.
Kaeya was delighted when food arrived, the smell entirely enticing him for a moment. He thanked the waiter politely, waiting for Neuvillette to begin before he started.
"This smells incredible. And it looks even better," he commented, just breathing in the scent for a moment. "Do you have a particular go-to dish when you dine here? I'm sure you've been here enough over the years that you've tried everything they have to offer."
Neuvillette nods.
“I confess I’m not terribly adventurous. I find food that is overly dry reprehensible. I’m partial to soups. The consommé here is unparalleled.”
"Oh? I'm finding this particular dish incredible, it's so full of flavour and the vegetables are so juicy. They must surely be fresh," he says, truly enjoying the taste of the food. "Perhaps I'll try a soup while I'm staying here, I have time before I leave for Mondstadt."
Partial to liquids and not a fan of food. Definitely wasn't human, but Kaeya just couldn't decide what creature Neuvillette could possibly be.
“I recommend it. It’s my favorite. How much longer are you here?”
Delicate gloved hands carefully scoop soup up to soft slick lips.
"A few more days," Kaeya hummed, enjoying his meal thoroughly. "I'm quite looking forward to spending a bit of time near the water, it'll be peaceful and pleasant."
“I’m happy you are liking Fontaine so well. I haven’t been by the water side in some time.” Sighing deeply as new thoughts cross his mind, he placed the spoon carefully back into the half finished soup.
“I’m quite enjoying how easily you converse with me Monsieur Kaeya. It is a rarity. Perhaps most Fontainians think I am unapproachable or dull.”
Kaeya shook his head. "No, I don't believe that's the case, Monsieur. I think perhaps that it is just that you're a man of power and a very busy schedule, so people don't feel like they're able to without interrupting. Take more breaks, interact with people a little more."
He paused, thinking deeply. "Perhaps you could come with me to the coast in a few days time?
“Hmmm” humming in thought he pauses. Would it be ok for him to take another break so soon.
Perhaps he needed to try what this young man said and take more breaks. It seemed to work out favorably today. He was enjoying a pleasant conversation instead of eating alone or still working without dinner again.
“Yes I’d like that. I’m quite partial to the waters.”
Kaeya beamed, delighted that his invitation was accepted. One step closer to discovering what secrets Neuvillette held.
"Excellent! What day has your lightest workload? I could perhaps meet you nearby when you've finished your work and we'll go to the coast together. I imagine you'll know the best spots for just enjoying the calm of the ocean and the feeling of the warm sand, no?"
Neuvillette nods as the ghost of a warm smile crests his face again.
“I do. We can visit where the otters gather to play and swim. There is sand warmed by the sun and the water is still warm enough to swim in should you like.”
What day was he less busy? That seemed a difficult thing to parse out. Everyday was packed. He sighs.
“I will tell you tomorrow at the fountain I need to move around some things with Sedene. I don’t believe I have a day that is a lighter load as you say. I’ll need time to make one to accommodate you.”
"That sounds perfect," Kaeya said, delighted. He hadn't been for a good swim in quite some time. And to watch otters play would be so relaxing, too.
"Monsieur, please, I understand that if a day isn't free, then it can't necessarily be moved around, either. Don't make it difficult for yourself. I'm happy to go for an evening stroll if that would suit you better," he reassured the Iudex, finishing his meal and going back to his wine.
Sipping the wine again mirroring the Captain, Neuvillette considers.
"I have been continually peppered with the suggestion to take a break. You yourself have made the suggestion no less than four times in our brief conversations. I believe that I can move things to be available after the trial tomorrow. Especially if I state it's for a break."
Removing the napkin from his lap he dabs his mouth leaving his soup half finished, he instead returns to sipping the wine.
Kaeya nods in understanding. "Someone as busy as you needs time for yourself, Monsieur, you are allowed to do things that make you happy and relax you. If visiting the coast will do those things for you, then please, do allow me to be your company for an afternoon. I will bring you some fresh water for you to drink, my treat."
This wasn't exactly the plan he had in mind, but it would work just as well. It was more time alone with the Iudex, more time to try and pry answers from him gently, and to perhaps help him relax in other ways.
"I look forward to it. Will you be able to come by the Opera house tomorrow?" His lavender slitted eyes widened in curiosity.
"You are welcome to stay for the trial as they are open to the public. It is not as exciting as Lady Furina's Oratrice I fear."
"I was invited to go conch hunting for the morning by a melusine informing me she needed them for her art, however my afternoon is free. I will stop by the Opera house when we're done, yes," he said, enjoying the way Neuvillette lit up every time something positive was mentioned about the melusines. "If I am in time to catch the trial, I'll find myself a seat in the audience. It will be interesting how the Nation of Justice handles cases compared to the other nations."
"Ah Mamere, yes she is an impressive artist." His smile deepens at the mention.
"Thank you for a delightful meal and sharing my company. I do not have much experience and I do hope that it was to your liking." Looking at his ancient pocket watch again he sighs.
"I must say good night and leave you for the evening. You may stay and have dessert if you wish everything will be covered on my tab."
Kaeya felt a pleasant warmth in his stomach at the sight of Neuvillette's smile. He stood, holding his hand out for Neuvillette to take, offering a slight bow and a warm, flirty smile.
"Your company has been most pleasant, I've had a wonderful evening with you. I'm looking forward to experiencing the coast with you tomorrow, it'll be nice to relax and go for a swim, it's been some number of years since I got to swim for leisure," he said, walking Neuvillette to the door of the hotel.
"I am pleased you are amenable to meeting again. I found your company refreshing. Enjoy your evening Monsieur." Bowing slightly he manifests his cane leaving the hotel.
As he walked home, smelling the sea in the air and thoughts focused on Kaeya. The Captain was a curiosity, the laughing child in the hazy memory seemed a far cry from the suave charming man that held his company earlier that evening.
Perhaps he could use this well versed gentleman to practice his social skills. It seemed to go well enough. Unable to sleep he entertained possible conversation topics the two might share tomorrow, while he worked through the night in his home office.
Kaeya finished the wine that was left on the table and left some mora to cover some of the meal, he couldn't allow someone to entirely pay for him.
He slept well through the night, comfortable, calm, looking forward to seeing Neuvillette again.

Chapter 3: In the Deep End
Summary:
“Apologies for my silence. I take time to reflect on my response. I-“ he adjusts his cravat. Suddenly flustered at Kaeya’s singular attention on him.
Focusing on his next words instead of any strange feelings he was having he extrapolates.
“I’m intrigued in how you went from one sort of relationship to another assumed adoptive guardian role. Commendable, to maintain that link.”
Biting his lip, a habit he’d picked up from Sedene, he continues his thought.
“I would say your demeanor lends itself to favored status. I’m inclined to agree with your small friend. I too favor your company.”
Kaeya waved off his apology. "Don't apologise, it's quite alright. I don't mind at all," he said smoothly.
Neuvillette shows Kaeya one of his favorite quiet places by the waters after a stressful trial. Their intrigue with each other continues to deepen.
Notes:
Kaeya's vacation is getting a lot more interesting don't you think?
The interest we have gotten in our story is really encouraging, I have delighted in each kudo and comment I cherish each one.
These two are remarkably fun to write together, I smile so wide with how cute they are being.
Enjoy!

Chapter Text
For the day he was going to have, Kaeya decided to dress down a little the following day. His long hair was braided neatly down his back. Upon meeting up with Mamere for their conch hunting trip, she gifted him a small trinket from her basket that she tucked into his ribbon.
He smiled thankfully, bowing to her and listening to the laughter as they walked together. Neuvillette crossed his mind, specifically the way he'd smile when the topic of the melusines came up. Perhaps he'd smile knowing that a melusine had given him a gift, even if it was just a bolt with a small cog wheel jammed on it that now sat in his ribbon.
Neuvillette stands outside during a recess in the trial. Closing his eyes he takes in the feeling of the breeze through his hair.
Warmly he smiles at Blathine as she skips past on duty "Good Day Monsieur Neuvillette!" She waves and smiles.
"Wonderful to see you, Blathine. What are you doing today?"
"Oh I am helping Monsieur Kaeya here. He said he was looking to put together a bouquet of Fountainian flowers." Looking up he sees the Cavalry Captain approaching.
"Blathine! We agreed not to mention it out loud!" Kaeya teased as he approached, the gentle breeze shifting his white shirt and the loose hairs that hadn't stayed in the braid that hung over his shoulder.
"Monsieur Neuvillette, good day to you," the knight greeted politely. "Your melusines are as wonderful as usual. Oh!" he took hold of his braid, lifting it to show Neuvillette the new trinket in his ribbon. "Mamere gifted me one of her trinkets, she insisted it would go with my hair and my ribbon. Do you agree with her?"
"What a lovely coincidence Monsieur Kaeya." The warmth in his smile deepens once more. Softness seeps into his expression as he looks at the prize ornamenting Kaeya's hair.
"Ah yes, I agree fully with Mamere's artistic eye. It was she who dyed my silk ribbon. The melusines are generally the only beings who style my hair. I trust their judgement."
Kaeya let his braid drop back down again. "Well I think they do a wonderful job, not a hair out of place. Perhaps I'll see what they can do with mine before I go back to Mond and see if anyone notices."
He laughed softly to himself. "I'd hate to dash, but I don't want to keep Blathine waiting for me for too long. How much longer will this trial last? I'll meet you here, as agreed."
"Perhaps an hour or two. I feel the arguments are becoming circular but I must give all sides fair time."
The warm breeze twists wisps of silver hair in dancing ribbons around his head. Nearly a halo when the sun reflects off of it.
"Your attention to the melusine is unique. Fontainians have grown accustomed to them but you have simply accepted them with no bias. It's remarkable and commendable Monsieur Kaeya."
Kaeya nodded in understanding, feeling a small, soft hand grab his. Blathine was impatient, but she held herself well to allow Kaeya to talk to Neuvillette.
He rubbed the back of his neck shyly, humming. "As someone who was an outcast once, it wouldn't be fair to outcast others like that. They've done me no harm, they've been nothing but kind and helpful since I arrived in Fontaine."
"I am needed back in the courtroom. I won't keep Blathine from your task any longer."
He chuckles with amusement. "She will make sure your task is done above and beyond your expectation Monsieur. She has impeccable taste and infectious tenacity. I will meet you here as soon as I can."
Humming a tune the melusine taught him he walked back into the Opera.
Kaeya smiles as he watches him go, disappointed that the robes hide the view of his backside.
He's soon being tugged along by Blathine, the little melusine talking his ear off about flowers, what they mean in Fontaine and how they bunch well together, never once asking who they were for, only promising the best bunch they could find.
It was a few hours later that Kaeya stood outside the Opera Epiclese. He'd missed the end of the trial, but he didn't mind. He had a small bag in one hand with things for the coast trip, including the water he'd promised Neuvillette, and in his other he held the flowers he'd had help in selecting, the bunch mainly consisting of romaritime flowers.
The trial had taken an unexpected turn. The plaintiff and defendant had become viciously dark with one another. It had been a dissolution of a business. Under a contract and straightforward.
The insults and accusations slung back and forth were affecting the families of the two men bickering. Neuvillette could not help seeing the confused faces of the children sitting behind their fathers.
After settling the court he gave the judgement honoring their original contract. Melancholy ebbed in his heart as he heard a child apologize for being a bad kid and getting his father in trouble.
Walking out into the courtyard the skies opened up in a steady rain.
Looking up and seeing his guest standing in the sudden downpour adds to his discontent. Walking forward he lets the water run unrestrained down his face.
“My apologies Monsieur Kaeya, I had forgotten how often it rains after trials. It seems you may not be able to enjoy the waters after all.”
Kaeya offered a sympathetic smile to the Iudex, stepping closer and handing the flowers to him.
"That's not true, Monsieur, I was going to get wet anyway by taking a swim," he chuckled. "And, if you'll humour me, I have an idea. We can still enjoy the coast, just in a different light."
Kaeya made sure to purchase an umbrella on the way past one of the shops, though it was pointless for now since they were wet already, it would come in handy for his plan, should Neuvillette still feel like humouring him.
The knight noticed a small girl jumping through puddles with one of the melusine guards, right before her mother ran over and thanked the melusine for watching her daughter. As they all parted ways and ran for shelter, the little girl looked up to the heavens and at the top of her lungs, a short, sweet rhyme came from her.
"Hydro dragon, hydro dragon, don't cry!"
Taking the flowers Neuvillette furrows his brow.
“I’m partial to the sea during a rainstorm. I did not want to impede on your comfort.”
Walking in step under the umbrella he watches the child play. Another hinted soft smile directed towards the melusine as they passed.
Kaeya blushed, noticing the confusion over the flowers. "I, uh, thought you might need something to brighten your day after your trial this morning. Blathine was a huge help picking them out with me."
They walked quietly, making small talk as water set the chill into Kaeya's bones, but he didn't mind, as a cryo user it was something he was used to.
“I do like them, they are lovely. I-“ breathing in the fragrant flowers he closes his eyes.
“I enjoy how a scent can bring a crisp pleasant memory unbidden to you. Thank you Monsieur Kaeya, you are most thoughtful.”
Walking along the path he gestures to a small beach remotely located. Two otters played in the water tossing a shell between the two of them.
Kaeya's smile brightened immediately when he saw the otters playing together. They were so small and so sweet, it made his heart feel light.
Leaving Neuvillette beneath the umbrella, Kaeya rushed forward to pick a spot. The vision on his hip started to glow a soft icy blue, and with a few waves of long practiced hands, he built them a small cryo shelter, protecting them from the rain.
He set the bag he carried down inside the shelter and smiled widely, quite pleased with his own work as he motioned for the Iudex to join him.
“This is quite innovative. I’m impressed.” Offering a restrained careful smile in return he joins Kaeya under the shelter.
“They are siblings. I’ve watched them grow from pups.” Neuvillette’s gaze rests on the playful otters.
"Thank you, Monsieur. There are no longer worries about the rain ruining our afternoon," he said, digging into the bag to retrieve a thick, dry towel. He lay it over Neuvillette's shoulders, looking out at the otters again.
"They're so sweet. There's a little girl I know back home who would be awed by these creatures," he hummed, mind trailing back to how much Klee loved small animals, learning now that fish blasting often took away their homes so it shouldn't be done in certain areas.
“You are too kind, Monsieur. I confess the rain is not a concern of mine. I’m comfortable in it. Hmm I'm used to it I suppose.” Using the towel he wipes access water from his face and pats his hair.
“I would like to hear more about your life in Monstadt. You have a gentle way with my melusine it makes sense you would be patient with children too.”
Kaeya nodded, sitting down under the cryo shelter he'd created. A swim could wait, it wasn't often he could talk about Klee.
"A colleague of mine has a young sister, she's under the care of the Knights while her mother travels around. She even has her own title as a Knight so she feels like she fits in. Her name is Klee. About as tall now as one of the melusines, equally as excited to be involved and to help people.
"I often have her in my care. She loves all of the knights, but she favours some over others. I am one of the favoured, I have been since I had.. uh... relations, with her brother. We go on small adventures together, and I do my best to keep her out of trouble. It definitely taught me patience over the years, taking care of a child. I love her like my own family, and I wouldn't change her."
Neuvillette sits quietly. His mind processes carefully. The man had unloaded quite a lot in a few words. His slow response time was a large reason many others tired of his company. But he truly just wished to understand.
"The Knights have looked after Klee for years, so I was already familiar with being a guardian, but I just did it a little more than the others when I was having sex with her brother. I was always around and often the closest in an emergency, so they'd call on me to take Klee for a while," he explained, blushing briefly. Sometimes he and Albedo did still hook up, but there wasn't much time for a relationship anymore since they were both often so busy and stationed apart.
He softened a little, his smile more genuine. "Thank you, Monsieur. I'm glad you enjoy my company. Many don't."
As Kaeya describes his relationship further Neuvillette feels further heat drift up his neck.
“I have had no time for relationships myself. I don’t think I can completely appreciate the complexity of your past experiences.”
Tangling his fingers through his long locks of hair he fidgets uncharacteristically. “I can’t imagine why anyone would not care for your company. You have been accommodating, generous, gracious, friendly and patient.”
A soft chuckle passes his lips. "I'm not always like this. Back home in Mond, I drink a fair bit. I'm known for sleeping around. I'm often called obnoxious. Alas, I'm not everyone's cup of tea," he hummed.
"Don't fret about me, Monsieur. I'm quite content with my life and the small company I do keep," he assured the other, glancing at him. His eyes caught the blue strands in Neuvillette's hair, and something that he couldn't quite pick out was different. "Forgive me if I'm intruding, but why are the blue strands in your hair glowing, Monsieur?"
“Hmm yes, my rhinophores are a unique sensory organ. I’m normally much more in control of myself Monsieur. I haven’t lost control of my glow since my youth.”
His fingers are worrying knots in his silky strands now. “I cannot say I understand completely myself.”
"An... organ?" he asked slowly, curiosity burning in his eyes and his words. "Monsieur Neuvillette, what are you?"
The strange behaviours and his lack of understanding of humans was obviously a sign that he wasn't a human, but that still left the question of what.
“It’s well known throughout Fontaine that I’m not human Monsieur. I’ve been the Iudex for over 500 years. What I am is not truly that important.” He waves away the question with a gloved hand.
“Ah it seems the rain is beginning to lift.’ The rain begins to taper off as the clouds begin to melt away.
"I am not from Fontaine though, so it's not well known to me," he countered. "I must disagree with you, because I am fascinated by you in every way."
Kaeya looked out to the water, seeing it beginning to settle where the rain was easing off. "Almost a pity, it was peaceful to sit beneath it like this. But nevermind, I will thoroughly enjoy my time here with you regardless."
“You find me fascinating? I think I still smell like dusty books and ink. I don’t know the first interesting thing to talk about.” Looking out at the settling water.
“I haven’t had that much excitement. I don’t drink or uh sleep really much less around. I am more intrigued by you Monsieur. Why come here and place a mask on your face if this is not who you are?”
"I do, yes," Kaeya said thoughtfully, deciding now was as good a time as any to swim. He unbuttoned the top few buttons on his shirt and stripped it off, placing it aside along with his vision as he stood to kick off his boots. "You'll join me for a swim, won't you Monsieur?"
He huffed a soft laugh, more of a sigh really. "Much of my past is a mystery, even to me. There was conflict when I was a young boy, about whether or not it would be safe to keep me in Mondstadt. I was just a child, I didn't understand. If not for my adopted family, I'd have been left orphaned. The mask protects me, and others around me. But that doesn't matter, I'm not here to bring the mood down. Oh!"
He turned to the bag suddenly, his warm, tan coloured skin a stark contrast to the ice surrounding them. He pulled out one of the bottles of water he'd brought with him on the journey to Fontaine, handing it over to Neuvillette. "I found this among my things, I had it while I travelled. This one I believe I picked up from Springvale."
Lavender eyes widen at the gift. “Springvale, yes not quite as chilled as Dragonspine, but refreshing, a sweet aftertaste rounding off the mouthfeel. An excellent choice Monsieur.” Noticing the half clothed man standing next to him he stammers.
“Y-Yes a swim would be pleasant.” Removing his ceremonial robe and mantle he meticulously folds them and places his pointed ankle high boots and spats squarely next to them. Removing the ribbon from his long hair it flies wild in the breeze.
Stripped down but still wearing a cravat, crisp white shirt tucked into tight trousers that hugged every curve.
“We can swim at your leisure, Monsieur Kaeya.”
"You're under no obligation to swim with me, I just wanted to extend the offer." He flashed a warm smile, stripping out of his pants, leaving him in underwear. He pulled his ribbon free along with his gifted trinket to set safely aside, but his eyepatch remained, keeping his Khanri'ahn heritage hidden from Fontaine.
"I am pleased you like the water selection. I've never known anyone so well versed in the water differences before. It's interesting. I'd like to hear more sometime," he confessed, his braid unravelling slowly to let out his long hair as he crossed the beach to the water.
He was pleasantly surprised that despite the rain, he found the water warm. He didn't hesitate to go right in until he was floating a little above the ground, his body relaxing.
“I haven’t had a proper swim in ages.” He took notice of the man’s physique. His body was well built and muscled. He kept the eye patch on even now. Even knowing that Neuvillette knew its true visage.
He slips into the water like it’s a second skin. He swims in circles around Kaeya then breaks the surface to check on him.
Kaeya's face is alight with delight as he watches the Iudex join him, his stern nature easing off until it's something much more relaxed and carefree. The knight swims further away from the shore, delighting in the way the water surrounds him like a warm hug, dipping under for a moment before surfacing, his hair plastered to the back of his head where he's pushed it out of his face.
"The waters here are calming. And warm. very different to Mondstadt at this time of year."
“The rest of Fontaine is equally inclement. However the algae that grows here produces a carbon effect which keeps the water fairly temperate most of the year.”
Invigorated by the water Neuvillette dives back under the water. He becomes a blur of glowing blue rhinophores and the white of his hair and shirt.
Some minutes later he returns to the surface relaxed, a pleasant smile ghosting his expression.
He had been underwater far longer than Kaeya felt most anyone could hold their breath.
The more Kaeya watched the Iudex swim, the more he began to feel his thoughts racing, trying to piece together the puzzle. He had very little knowledge of Fontaine, and far less of Neuvillette himself, but there had to be something that he could piece together.
Sucking in a breath, Kaeya dived again, feeling the peace as the water clogged up his ears, the noises beneath the surface taking over. His mind was running faster than he could comprehend.
Glowing streaks in his hair, lack of understanding of human habits and emotions. There was a lot of avoidance to his questions regarding what he was. And to be over 500 years old? The Adepti were based in Liyue, so he wasn't one of them. He definitely wasn't an Archon, he'd heard all about the fall of Focalors. Something of minimal power or elemental energy could never exist the way Neuvillette does.
He watched the glow as Neuvillette swam around him again, much faster than even the best swimmers he's ever known. That rhyme the children sang was sticking to the forefront of his mind, and he had no idea why. Hydro dragon, hydro dragon, don't cry.
Strange, for the rain to hit so suddenly and out of the blue. Neuvillette did mention it often rained after a trial's end. And the legend of that rhyme, should he remember correctly, is that it was a call to stop the sorrows of the Hydro Dragon, who was able to make it rain with his sorrows.
Kaeya gasped, inhaling water. His mind slammed to a halt as he dragged himself up to the surface, coughing and gagging.
Hearing the man distressed, Neuvillette burst through the surface unsure exactly what happened or really how to help.
“I heard you in distress Monsieur please allow me to assist you back to shore”
With the bit of offered help, Kaeya got back onto the sand, flopping down as he coughed up the water he'd inhaled.
"Dra-agon-" he choked out, thumping on his chest to dislodge whatever was left. It either needed to go down, or come back up, but it couldn't stay where it was.
Confusion clouds over Neuvillette's features. He didn't understand the man who seemed to be a much poorer swimmer than he boasted.
"I was sure that you had practiced swimming in Mondstadt waters. Had I known you were a weaker swimmer we would have stayed in the shallow pool. Here you need this fine water more than I, at the moment."
Opening the bottle he unceremoniously, and anxiously shoves the bottle in the sputtering captain's hand.
Kaeya shakes his head, the coughing finally calming down. He took a few mouthfuls of the offered water before handing it back, then sat himself up, leaning against his cryo structure for a moment, allowing the chill to settle his body from the panic.
"I apologise, for disturbing you like that," he said, slightly winded as he spoke. "I assure you I can swim, I have been swimming since I was a child. You, however, swim far better than any human can because you're a dragon."
Notes:
Kaeya figured something out... I wonder how Neuvillette is going to react? It would be a shame if all this flirting didn't get the knight a chance with the Iudex. Hope it all turns out ok for them.

Chapter 4: Revelations and Confessions
Summary:
Neuvillette stilled in that moment, feeling exposed. His rhinophores flicked in annoyance.
"Monsieur, you stated you were not here on business. You were here for your own desires. I took the liberty of refreshing my knowledge of Mondstadt. The cavalry was most recently deployed with Varka, your Grand Master and King. It is curious that the Cavalry Captain was not in their number." He steps forward straightening his back to full height. A dull menacing growl emanates from his chest.
"I remembered why your eye was so remarkable. I have seen its like before but it has been some time."
Lavender eyes narrow into fierce dangerous slits. "I am naive in many ways that humans interact but I am by no means a fool. Your spy craft will have no effect on my likes Monsieur. You have exactly one chance to explain what your true intentions are here. I will know if you are lying."
Kaeya held up his hands in defense, unable to hold back the laughter that bubbled up. Him? A spy? Ridiculous.
"I can assure you I really am not here on business," he said firmly.

Chapter Text
"The Acting Grandmaster was tired of me never spending my off days out of Mond, so she granted me extended leave and insisted I travel. She paid for my boat, and I was told to pick a location. Fontaine and Natlan are the two nations I've not seen in person, so I chose Fontaine."
He straightened himself up a little, his ribs aching from the coughing. "A cavalry was deployed, yes, but not my cavalry. Varka prefers I stay in Mond, I have too much history with the Fatui to leave the city behind for months at a time. Another reason I never leave on vacations. There really is much I don't know about my past, but I know enough. My eye is irrelevant, I didn't ask to be born this way."
"As for a spy? No, that was a long time ago. I'm just a Favonius Knight. I'm in Fontaine to take a much insisted break. I am here with you because I've found that I enjoy your company and you're pleasant to look at, so I'd very much like to have sex with you." He smirked, his blue eye flashing with mischief and honesty. "You left me too many breadcrumbs, Monsieur, I figured out your identity by chance, and because of the coincidence of that sweet little rhyme the child was singing earlier. Hydro Dragon, Hydro Dragon, don't cry."
Crimson bleeds into his cheeks and even dusts the tips of his pointed ears.
"You wish to fornicate with me? Is this your Fontainian desire? I assure you I left no crumbs. Much like you I too was born this way. I feel that your eye is of great relevance or you wouldn't hide it Monsieur."
With large gestures he pulls the water out of both of their clothes and jets the water back to the sea. "The song has been part of Fontaine culture for decades. It is the whims of children. "
He begins to pick up his robes , he mumbles as he bends to slip into his spats. "The audacity to seek to bed me."
"But you did, Monsieur. Your age, your struggle to understand human concepts and emotions, the blue glow in your hair. You're too powerful to be something as simple as an elemental being. You told me of the coincidence of the rainfall after trials end, but it was that rhyme that gave it away. At first I doubted myself, but then I realised that when the rain stopped for us, your mood had lifted. You were feeling better," Kaeya said, explaining his thought process.
With a sigh, Kaeya slipped under the cryo shelter, unlacing his patch and letting it fall away from his face, blinking to adjust to the light. His golden iris shimmered a stark contrast to the bright blue, and the Khanri'ah star sat where his pupil should be. "There are very few of my people left, Monsieur. But my people are not welcome. Those of us that live are scattered. I'm the only one in Mondstadt from the lost land. The eyepatch is to protect me. To protect my home and my friends."
He finds himself smirking a little at the blush still coating Neuvillette's face. "Have you never been approached before? I assure you, bedding someone wasn't my goal, much less the Iudex of Fontaine, but over this past couple of days, I've enjoyed getting to know you and spending time in your company. You're interesting, intriguing. The more I look at you, the more beauty I see."
"No, I most certainly have not been approached in such a manner before. As the Iudex my impartiality is my promise of Justice. I can show no favoritism. I assure you no one has ever spoken to me in such a manner, not even to the very few I let get close enough to even remotely consider it." He spins around to continue his admonishment and is struck dumb by the sight of Kaeya's eye.
Several things pass through his eyes: surprise, curiosity, and remorse tinged sadness. "You removed your eyepatch for me Monsieur?"
"It seems to be important for you, so what better to offer than my vulnerability? My apologies will mean nothing to you, but I assure you that everything I'm explaining is the truth, and should I be found caught in a lie, may my Archon strike me down," he said, tucking back the bangs of his hair that had started to dry out, letting Neuvillette get a good look at his golden eye.
"A harlot I may be, but I'm an honourable man. I will let the matter drop with an apology for making you feel that my goal to be in Fontaine was to bed you. That goal was decided after I met you and got to know you, but if your interest doesn't lie there, then I promise on my honour as a Knight, I will let it drop."
"Monsieur, your apology and vulnerability are accepted." With a singular spat on he sits on a log and pats the space next to him.
"Sit, I will tell you what I know of my nature. I honestly have never considered where my interests lie. As you proclaim yourself a known man as it were. I am chaste these long years."
A thankful, relieved smile crossed Kaeya's lips. He pushed himself up to his feet, moving to sit beside Neuvillette.
"You don't owe me any explanations you aren't comfortable with," Kaeya assured him, fiddling with the patch in his hands. He wasn't used to being without it in company anymore, especially not powerful people who could see an end to the remaining few Khanri'ahns alive.
Deeply sighing, Neuvillette looks up and meets Kaeya's striking eyes with his own lavender eyes.
"Dragons mate for life. I am a singular lone being. I was not able to be born in my full draconic body. The abyss had corrupted my vishap and progeny beyond repair. I am alone in this world."
Lost in thoughts he may have never shared with another soul, He removes the gloves from his hands. Shimmering blue scales glinted in the sunlight and claws colored similarly to his rhinophores were revealed.
"I have never lain with another because there is none like me in existence. Apep, the Dendro Sovereign, went mad centuries ago and thinks of me as a half formed whelp. I am not a creature of beauty or desire, I am now simply a vessel for this authority with a tasked purpose."
Kaeya listened, his heart aching for the dragon. To be so alone, to not even have a companion for a night because your kind doesn't do single nights and fleeting feelings. And to not even be born into his full power? He was robbed of it by the same curse the rest of Teyvat was fighting against. Kaeya couldn't even begin to imagine the pain Neuvillette must feel.
"I'm sorry, Monsieur. I understand the feeling of being alone," he said softly, admiring the scales he was being shown.
"Is that why you have never bedded someone? Because your kind do it for life?" he asked curiously. He didn't want to offend by continuing to flirt if it was only going to break his heart.
"I came into this world without my memories. Being a hydro dragon means I am immortal. I was to come back intact I suppose." he looks down at his slightly pointed claws.
"I am neither fully dragon nor fully human. I was given a position that required me to act, appear and be impartial to every citizen and being I had contact with. One cannot have an intimate relationship with another and act impartially to them."
A single tear began to fall from his eye as a light sprinkle began to mist over them. "It seemed an impossibility Monsieur so I never entertained the idea,"
Kaeya shuffled a little closer, lifting his hand to brush away the tear. "Hydro dragon, hydro dragon, don't cry," he whispered kindly.
"Forgive me if I'm being too forward, but please, I'd treasure the chance to continue to know you, and to bed you. I am not from Fontaine, you do not need to be impartial around me. Let me show you how to let go, to breathe, to relax and let someone else take your burdens from you," he proposed, more than willing to back off if the answer was no.
Large lavender eyes glittered with tears left unshed. "I don't know Monsieur. I cannot imagine it would be enjoyable to lead someone who has never felt the touch of another in an intimate way." Rouge tinting deepens on his cheeks.
"I feel it would end in deep disappointment for you. As you say, you are knowledgeable and skilled in the area." Softly so softly it is almost not audible.
"I do not know, but perhaps I would like to try."
"Sometimes, the best part of intimacy is the learning curve for both parties," he said gently, a reassuring smile on his lips. "I can guide you, Iudex. I can teach you. In turn, I will learn how it feels to lay with a dragon. I've never even met one before, let alone lay with one. You will enjoy things differently to us humans, I imagine."
He wiped away another stray tear, glancing to see that the sky had dimmed a little again. "I won't force you, but I have five days left of my trip. I will leave the decision to you. You will find me in my hotel, should you decide to come to me, or call for me. For today, though, let's finish enjoying our afternoon, yes? Now that there's no more secrets, I don't have to worry about an epiphany under the water almost drowning me."
Neuvillette nods quietly. "You are a kind man Monsieur. Do your comrades find you obnoxious because you keep them at arms length on purpose? Are you also not lonely Monsieur? Do you not wish to mate for life?" Neuvillette finds the words pour out of him; he does tend to babble but not like this.
Kaeya finds himself startled by the questions, but nonetheless, he nods.
"I am as I am in order to protect myself, and in turn, protect others. Even my own brother can't stand the sight of me. I'm from a Nation long gone, a Nation I never got to know. I was born outside of it. My history was burned to ashes. I do find myself lonely, which leads me to having sex as much as I do. It staves off the loneliness, even if it's just a night. One day, I do hope I'll fall in love. Maybe even have children, continue my family legacy and prevent Khanri'ah dying out completely," he confessed.
Nodding again Neuvillette reaches out and places his scaled hand over Kaeya's hand.
"I have handled my loneliness differently. I don't think you are wrong to handle it the way you do. I suppose you are the first person I have met that I do not have to judge. I hope that you find this love. I hope that one of us is able to continue our legacy."
Rubbing gentle circles into Kaeya's hand absentmindedly he adds. "Having children is not in my future.
He felt a blush rising in his cheeks and at the tips of his ears, surprised that the Iudex was touching him like this. He gently placed his other hand over Neuvillette's, feeling the texture of the scales and memorising the shape and how they sat.
"I hope that you're proven wrong, Monsieur. I hope that you find the love you deserve so your own legacy can continue. You deserve it for everything you've done and have been through."
“Regardless of how much more I do or what I deserve. There are some things that can’t be changed.” Slipping his hand back he offers the ghost of a sad smile.
“I should see you back to your hotel Monsieur. While I’m capable of defending us, the wilds of Fontaine can be dangerous and I prefer not to invite such excitement.”
He chuckled gently, the sound much softer and less cheerful than usual. "I suppose that's true, yes. And you need rest of course, you have plenty of work to keep you busy."
Kaeya got up from his spot, retrieving his clean, dry clothes to dress himself, returning his vision to his hip where it belonged.
Once both men were ready, Kaeya took away the shelter he'd built, the ice turning slowly to fluttering snowflakes, drifting into the waters to become liquid, no trace left behind of it ever being there.
Neuvillette had once again donned his full judicial raiment. His hair returned to its usual flawless array. Boots and spats arranged with perfect attention to detail.
Picking up the bouquet of flowers nearly forgotten he inhales the scent deeply.
“I have acquired a new memory for this scent today.”
The two walk back towards the Opera as Neuvillette regales Kaeya with vishap migration patterns and the local flora and their uses.
"I hope it's a positive memory for you," Kaeya hummed, a rough braid back in his hair to keep it neat until he could bathe.
Kaeya gave Neuvillette his full attention, listening to every word he said. The information was really interesting, and he was hoping he'd remember all of it for future references.
They stroll past the Fountain of Lucine towards Marcotte Station, people part and give the Iudex a wide berth and a polite bow.
Boarding the aquabus Neuvillette listens to the melusine with a smile and genuine interest. This was at least the five hundredth time he had heard this speech but he adored Elphane’s attention to detail even if her delivery was not as passionate as her sister’s.
Kaeya watched Elphane with his head propped up on his hand. This line was one he hadn't been on yet, having been exploring so much of Fontaine around the Palais so he could stay close to Neuvillette. At least he didn't think he'd been on this one, anyway. He made mental notes of the things she was saying, wanting to explore the areas she mentioned before leaving for Mondstadt in a few days.
Soon enough they are in front of the Hotel Debord.
“As I promised, you are safely returned.” Neuvillette pauses leaning on his cane.
"I am very grateful for your company, Monsieur. It should've been me accompanying you home, but I've enjoyed our time together regardless." He paused for a moment, making sure his eyepatch was fastened properly now there were more people around. "Will I see you again while I'm in the city?"
“You have given me a great deal to ponder Monsieur Just Kaeya. I will at the very least send correspondence. I will give you word either way. I am not one to drop in unexpectedly.”
His demeanor had returned to a stoic neutrality. A trace of crimson still dusted the tips of his ears, the only tell of his embarrassment.
"You keep making that joke with my name," Kaeya chuckled. "Don't over use it, it'll lose the humour. But it's a very human thing to do."
Kaeya offered a polite bow, and a charming smile, his blue eye glinting in the evening light. "I look forward to hearing from you, Monsieur Neuvillette."
“Ah yes my apologies, it won’t trouble your ears again. Enjoy your evening. Monsieur.”
Sudden warmth flooded his stomach. It was strange. He turned with a nod and swiftly returned to the sanctity of his office.
Even the comfort of documenting the trial was unable to quell his thoughts. The man he’d met was not like any other person he’d ever met. Wishing to bed him? How ridiculous. He shouldn’t even continue this thought.
Yet the thought kept tempting him. Memories of golden skin glistening in the sun. That one beautiful haunting eye.
He touches the back of his gloved hand, ghost sensations floated in his memory of Kaeya petting his scales in fascination.
Perhaps he should sleep. Yes, a decent sleep would see him in a clearer mind in the morning. Retiring to his room above his office he tucks in for a rare night of sleep.
Kaeya watches until the Iudex is out of sight before heading up to his room, a smile still etched on his lips as he relives the day in his head.
He understood the moment of drama at the coast, of course he did. Neuvillette had to protect his Nation, and Kaeya was a stranger in his land who had just figured out he was a dragon. Yet, Nevuillette seemed to soften in a totally different way once the secret was out and he'd seen confirmation of Kaeya's golden eye for himself. It was strange circumstances, but not terrible ones.
Someone else knew his secret and hadn't pushed him away or tried to kill him.
His heart fluttered at the thought.
Notes:
Archons these two make my brain go brrrrr. Kaeya had to do some real quick talking there. Good thing he kept it honest and straight forward. Sweet talking would have gotten him nowhere. Stay tuned for more - they keep getting cuter.

Chapter 5: The Law of Attraction
Summary:
Kaeya felt flattered that he was the one to do this to Neuvillette. The Iudex was feeling desire for him. A crush.
Stunned silence was the only reaction Neuvillette could muster. Was that really what was happening to him?
Earlier that day he had tried a walk to clear his head. Instead he had stumbled upon a ribbon the very same color as Kaeya’s singular starred eye. On impulse he had bought it and had it gift boxed.
Looking down at its small box now he realizes he’s bought a courting gift.
“These feelings do not make any sense Monsieur. You are not a dragon.”
He places the gift on the table with a slight tremble in his gloved hand.
“And yet I’ve brought you a courting gift.”
Neuvillette awakens to distracting thoughts, after several attempts to get through work, he decides he has to invite the alluring stranger from Mondstadt to dinner again.

Chapter Text
Waking up Neuvillette feels an unfamiliar slick stickiness under his stomach. A dull ache between his legs as his dual cocks peak out of his vent.
He had not had such a lack of control over himself since he was a very young dragon. Hazy visions of golden skin and a gentle starred eye ghost his consciousness.
Frustrated with his foolish body he turns his shower to an icy temperature stepping in he is reminded of the pretty snowflakes that dissipated into the sea.
Quickly showering and dressing he manifests his cane heading to the Palais. Work would surely clear his mind.
Kaeya slept soundly all night, his mind feeding him flashes of scenes that made him hard, aching for the touch of dragon scales to his warm skin.
It was nothing a shower couldn't fix.
Once clean and dressed, he pulled his hair into a braid again, fixing his ribbon and the trinket into it again. His goal today was more exploring, but first, breakfast in the hotel's main lobby.
Morning light shifted to bright mid strength. Neuvillette’s plan to stay focused had been detracted for the twentieth time.
Distraction of this level had never been an issue in the long centuries of being the Iudex. Perhaps the only way to rid himself of this was to see the man with the enchanting stare.
Monsieur Kaeya
I find myself experiencing quite unusual symptoms that I feel your unique expertise could assist in my understanding. I would humbly request another meal shared with you. Please feel free to respond to me here with your response.
Monsieur Neuvillette
It was a Melusine who found Kaeya to deliver the note when he returned from his walk, politely stopping him and handing it over with regards from the Palais.
He couldn't help but smile to himself as he read it. Was Neuvillette perhaps experiencing the same thing as him?
He requested some paper from the desk of the hotel, scribbling back a reply then turning to the patiently waiting Melusine, handing over his response with thanks.
Monsieur Neuvillette,
It is a delight to hear from you again so soon. Name a time and a place that is convenient for you, and I'll be there.
Kaeya.
Looking through the mid afternoon letter drop Neuvillette smiles as he reads the return letter. Curious warmth fluttered in his stomach. Furrowing his brow he settles a gloved hand over his stomach.
There was no way he had caught a human illness, this raising fluttering was new. Not unpleasant though also slightly unsettling.
Elegant intentional letters pen his reply.
Monsieur Kaeya
I am equally pleased with your prompt response. Due to the delicate nature of conversation, I will simply reserve a private room at the Hotel Debord for 7pm.
Monsieur Neuvillette
Kaeya didn't receive the reply until that afternoon when he bumped into that morning's melusine in a cafe. She happily pulled the note out of her coat for him, asking if he wanted to return one. Finding out the time from another customer, he realised he had a little under two hours before the meeting. He scribbled a response for the melusine to take, simply informing Neuvillette he'd be there, then finished his drink and set off again.
He checked with the hotel just to be sure, finding that he had in fact got a reservation with Neuvillette again. He requested in advance another variant of Dawn Winery's best wine, and some water from Natlan for Neuvillette, then made his way up to his room to freshen up and get ready. He wouldn't want to keep Neuvillette waiting.
As the appointed time drew near Neuvillette decided that perhaps he should leave his judge robes behind for the evening.
Kaeya was not a citizen of Fontaine. There was no real need to keep such a distinction in their positions.
He was innately a vain creature, he’d collected any number of exquisitely crafted clothing. He rarely had reason to wear it but he hoarded things of beauty instinctively.
Opting for a precisely tailored dark blue long tailored jacket. It was embellished with gold filigree. Placing a sizable blue gem to pin down his cravat he leaves, arriving at the Hotel precisely at seven.
Just as seven rolled around, Kaeya was making his way down from his room, dressed neatly in his fitted pants, his boots, a white shirt and a deep blue waistcoat that matched his hair, decorated at the front with silver buttons and swirled patterns on the pocket.
He smiled upon spotting the long, silvery hair waiting for him.
"Monsieur, a pleasure to see you again," he greeted, eyes flicking over Neuvillette's figure. "You look wonderful, what's the occasion?"
“Ah, I suppose you are the occasion Monsieur. I took the liberty of exonerating this jacket from its isolation in my wardrobe. I very rarely have reason to dress in anything outside of my judiciary robes.”
He nods politely as a smiling polite waiter leads them to a side room and leaves them to contemplate the menu after taking their drink orders.
"I feel honoured to be your reason to dress up outside of official duty," he chuckled, sitting down at their given table. "I hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of pre-ordering some drinks for us after receiving your confirmation of our reservation. Another variant of the wine we enjoyed last night, and a bottle of water from the rivers of Natlan."
Kaeya's eyes scanned the menu, trying to decide what he was going to have this time. "So, your letter said there's something I could assist with. Is everything okay?"
“Hmm I’ve had a very unusual day Monsieur Kaeya. I lack the words to describe it fully.” He sips the Natlan water offered, closing his eyes a satisfied moan leaves his closed lips.
“There is comfort in the warmth and richness of this water. Apologies, I seem to have forgotten myself.” Flushing deeply he’s sure that from his torso to the tips of his ears are blazed in color.
Kaeya chuckles, the sound soft and warm, not in any way mocking. "No, it's fascinating to hear you talk about it. And now I understand better how you can taste the differences."
He sipped at his wine, humming, satisfied with the taste. "There's no rush, take time finding words to explain what you're thinking and feeling."
“I suppose I should take events chronologically. I woke this morning with hazy memories of dreams. Monsieur I cannot tell you the last time I had a dream at all. I do not require much sleep in general. That and I awoke in a -“ He pauses here fumbling for the right word.
“Compromised state. Something I haven’t experienced in centuries Monsieur.”
Feeling the color rise in his cheeks he quickly picks up the wine glass and sips the wine.
“This is really quite good. I’m told this beverage is helpful when one needs courage.” He takes a deeper sip.
“My day was filled with distractions Monsieur. My thoughts kept circling back to various points in our day together. It took me twice as long to get through my morning work.”
Realizing he’s babbling he takes another long sip of wine.
“That’s when I decided to write to you. When your letter returned my abdomen became warm internally and it felt like worms made of energy were vying to leave my body through my stomach. I am not able to get sick however it feels like I may have become unwell.”
Taking a final sip the glass has been sipped empty and Neuvillette trains his lavender eyes on Kaeya awaiting his expertise.
Kaeya was smiling, laughing softly at how flustered the Iudex was becoming in such a quick manner. The knight had already figured out what was going on here, but he let the other finish, not wanting to interrupt him.
"What you are feeling, Monsieur Neuvillette, are very human feelings. You are experiencing a crush, or desire on some level," Kaeya told him kindly. "It sounds like you woke up from a, uh, a wet dream. A sexual dream. You are experiencing sexual desire.
"The distractions are happening because you are having positive responses to the memories of our time together. You seem to enjoy my company, and the break spending time with me offers from your work.
"The feeling in your stomach is known as having butterflies, which means that you are feeling attraction and desire. You are not unwell, I assure you, these feelings can be very natural."
Kaeya felt the heat rise to his face immediately, his expression dropping to surprise, and a very clear sign of being flustered.
"I- a courting gift?" he breathed, reaching for the small box. He opened it carefully, finding a gold ribbon neatly curled inside, the same colour as his Khaenri'ahn eye.
He looked at Neuvillette, hands trembling as he held the box.
"It's beautiful," he said quietly, brushing a finger over the soft silk. "Thank you, Monsieur. It's perfect."
He smiled warmly, almost shyly. Kaeya never felt shyness, so feeling it now had him feeling some kind of strange way. "Will you explain dragon courting to me?"
Pausing to collect his thoughts Neuvillette is struck by the genuine joy Kaeya reflects. His inner dragon preens.
His prospective mate accepted his gift and smiled so sweetly a deep rumbling purr radiated from his core.
He’s about to expound when the waiter comes in to get their orders. “Consommé please,” Neuvillette calmly stared, quelling the purr as soon as the door opened.
Kaeya goes for Fricassee de Poulet this time, thanking the waiter as he walked away before turning back to the new ribbon. He pulled his braid over his shoulder, gently pulling his little Melusine trinket free, then unwinding his usual blue ribbon. In turn, he tied the gold one in, the colour standing out beautifully against his dark blue hair. He wedged the trinket back into place, then stored his usual ribbon in the box for safe keeping.
He smiled at Neuvillette, hoping he could convey how thankful he was through the look alone. "You're... purring? I didn't know dragons purr."
Blush immediately blooms on the tips of his pointed ears and slowly bleeds onto his cheeks. Giving a soft cough.
“Yes when content I purr. It’s quite rare for me however seeing you so pleased with my offering triggered that response. My draconic instincts see you as a prospective mate. By accepting my courting gift in essence you accept me and I suppose that pleases me.”
Refilling his wine glass he sips again forgetting to taste it. “I don’t know a great deal, myself. I’ve not had too much experience or others to ask regarding typical behaviors. Information only seems to come to me as needed.”
Kaeya nodded, thoughtful and understanding as he flicked his braid back over to rest along his spine.
"Well I feel glad that you're so content with me that you can purr like that," he said, sipping his wine. "I accept you as you are, Monsieur, and I would be honoured to be courted by you. We can figure it out together."
Purring again but softer Neuvillette nods. “I feel that’s the only way through whatever I am experiencing.”
He’s on his second glass of wine. His body feels warm where the alcohol settles.
“I’m not sure how to start any of this. I'm completely out of my depth.”
Kaeya smiles, sliding a glass of water to his companion. He didn't want to get the Iudex drunk, especially not if they had things to talk about.
"If you like me enough to be courting me, but your instinct is driving you, I think you should continue to let it. Your instinct, I think, will help you along. I... don't have much experience in dating, so I'm a little lost, too."
Blinking Neuvillette sets down the wine and takes a long slow draft of water.
Confusion crests his features. “You had inferred a past history of dating. The brother of the young girl was a past relationship correct? “
Kaeya nods. "Yeah, he was the only one, though." He smiled fondly remembering how much he adored Albedo. "Some things just aren't meant to be, though, and we're at peace with that. He and I are still great friends, and we're colleagues, too. But that is the only experience I have with dating, everything else has been just having sex with someone."
Thoughtfully Neuvillette mulls over Kaeya’s words.
“So humans do not mate for life?”
"Not all the time, no," he said thoughtfully, trying to understand the best way to explain this to him.
"Sometimes, there's too many differences that make the relationship unbalanced, or things that prevent proper time being put aside for one another. Sometimes humans are unfaithful and lose the trust of their lovers. Humans aim to be with someone forever, but it doesn't always work out that way."
Their food arrives, Neuvillette quietly thanks the waiter, but remains deep in thought.
Listening to Kaeya politely interact with the staff he still has questions. Sipping his water quietly he waits for the waiter's polite retreat and the door to close.
“Are many humans just interested in just having sex as you said? I thought this act was related more to expressing affection and closeness. Is it not seen as a close intimacy?”
"Sometimes sex is all it is, yes," Kaeya admitted, taking a bite of his food and humming in satisfaction at the taste. "Humans for some unknown reason were built with the need to do that. Sometimes it can be just for the fun of chasing pleasure, but when relationships are concerned, then yes, it's also for intimacy and being close to your loved one."
He really hoped he was making sense to the dragon, he'd never had to explain this kind of thing to anyone before.
Sipping his soup carefully, he again never lost a drop.
“ When you first thought to bed me were you thinking of just sex Monsieur? Am I a curiosity and conquest?”
"A curiosity, yes, but a conquest? No, not at all," Kaeya hummed. "I never take conquests, Monsieur. I take good care of each person I bed." He paused for a moment, finger tracing over the box that still sat on the table beside him. "Now that I have accepted your courting, does that not make it an intimacy for us?"
“I see.”Neuvillette’s lavender eyes focus on his ribbon tied prettily in Kaeya’s long locks.
“I would say you wearing my gift signifies a subtle claim. It would mark you as my mate. I am comforted by seeing you display it. Others will know who you belong to.”
His purr deepens and grows louder. “I would say for me yes I’ve offered a token of intimacy and am acknowledging that I feel a bond to you.”
Kaeya smiles warmly, his blush still deep on his cheeks and his ears. "Then as your prospective mate, I'd like to request that we drop formalities when we're able to. Call me Kaeya."
He pulled his braid forward, absently playing with the trinket that sat embedded between the wraps of ribbon, the silk almost shining in the warm light. There was so much Kaeya didn't know and needed to learn. He also needed to get a gift in return for Neuvillette, surely it was the right thing to do to court him in turn? To... mark him as his mate. He needed to spend time thinking about what Neuvillette would like, perhaps talk to some melusines for ideas.
"Will you tell me how courting works among dragons? How would it work if I were a dragon too? Are there expectations you have of me for our courting?"
Closing his eyes Neuvillette steeples his fingers together.
“Dragons revere strength and a willingness to protect their home and mate. You might court me by a show of strength or by offering me something that signifies your claim on me. I feel this is similar to human wedding rings. You would show care for your mate seeing they are fed and provided for. My inner dragon preens at having a shared domestic space. Safely for hatchlings. We covet pretty things that closely bonded ones give us. We show affection by providing mutual grooming and scenting one another. We can be possessive and territorial. I’d not wish to share you. Dragons mate for life and will bite a claim into the neck of their mate to solidify the bond.”
Opening his eyes he looks straight into Kaeya’s eyes.
“That bond sets up a telepathic bond, where there would be no secrets from each other. We would know each other fully. That bond is as immortal as I am Kaeya.”
Kaeya nodded along as he listened, drinking in the information. Dragons were incredible, interesting beings. And to have the chance to be speaking to and getting to know one was a blessing in itself.
To be pursued and courted by one? Diluc would never believe him.
"I have the utmost respect for your ways, Neuvillette," he said smoothly, a reassuring smile on his lips. "To court you would be an honour. To be mated to you would be a commitment I will gladly take through the rest of my life with me."
He definitely needed to find a courting gift.
“You wish to pursue a relationship with me after only knowing me for a couple of days?”
Thoughts rushed like a swift river through his mind. He too had subconsciously wished to court Kaeya after a very short period of time.
“An unfair question as it seems my instincts sought to court you even before I fully understood my actions. Would you really wish to commit yourself to me and me alone?”
"From what I understand, your courting is the equivalent of how a human dates. When humans date, we may not have necessarily known someone for very long, but we use that time to get to know each other before fully committing, but during dating we remain with only one person in order to get a feel for the relationship," he explains.
"If I've understood you correctly, the mating bond happens after a bite. While courting one another, we can spend time getting to know each other better. We will keep in touch with letters when I return to Mondstadt, and I will do my best to visit often. If the feelings grow into something stronger, we will know that mating is the right choice for us."
Nodding Neuvillette maintains eye contact. “I am amenable to this Kaeya I wish for you to address me as Neuvillette.” His eyes sharpen as he sees the ribbon his rhinophores flutter and glow.
“You look well in my gift, it suits you. I am deeply pleased to see you wear it. I wish to touch your hair.”
"Neuvillette," Kaeya purred, the name rolling sweetly off his tongue. "I look forward to getting to know you."
"I hope I'll be able to find something equally as beautiful for you," he responded. He got up for a moment, moving his chair a little closer so he was in reach of the dragon, his braid still hung over his shoulder. "You're welcome to touch, if you like."
Pulling himself closer he pulled his gloves off and reached up tentatively. Kaeya’s hair was soft like silk and thick. It flowed like a deep blue river through his fingers.
Inhaling deeply he caught a mingling of scent of a morning after a cold snap mixed with Calla Lilies.
“Exquisite, you are quite lovely Kaeya.”
Carefully untying his gift he begins raking his claws carefully and soothingly through Kaeya’s long locks.
Kaeya finds himself letting out a soft, pleased sigh, his eyelids fluttering for a moment as his body started to relax.
"Thank you," he said quietly, almost leaning into the touch. No one had played with his hair since he was young. It felt... good. It felt nice, peaceful. He felt like he could sleep a full, peaceful night with Neuvillette stroking his hair like this.
After several minutes of massaging Kaeya’s scalp and combing through the mesmerizing blue strands Neuvillette brings it together in a low ponytail exposing Kaeya’s neck.
His fangs salivate, as his mate does not smell like he should. He leans in to scent his mate’s neck and stops centimeters away.
Kaeya felt his breath catch in his throat, his cock stirring with interest at the feeling of warm breath tickling his skin.
"It's okay, Neuvillette. Do what you need to do, I consent," he said quietly, tilting his head just a little bit.
Grazing his fangs along the smooth planes of Kaeya’s neck his purr deepens. He luxuriates in the intimacy of dousing Kaeya with his scent.
Finally after some time he felt his inner dragon ease. He returns his gift to adorn his chosen companion.
“I am satisfied you smell like me now.” A deep contented sigh leaves his lungs.
The knight gasped at the feeling, his heart racing in his chest. He'd never been scented before, but it made him tingle all over, his stomach fluttering.
He took a moment to compose himself before clearing his throat. "And, uh, how would I return the favour? I'm not a dragon, I can't do what you can."
“I wish for you to claim me as you are accustomed to. I wish to be wooed by you as your precious one.”
Taking a golden brown hand into his pale lightly blue-scaled hand smiling.
Kaeya hummed, lifting Neuvillette's hand to press a gentle kiss over his scales. They were hard, but the surface was smooth like the silk of his ribbon.
His ribbon.
Kaeya reached over and picked up the box, pulling his blue ribbon from it and neatly tying it around Neuvillette's wrist in a bow.
"It's only my hair ribbon, but remember me each time you see it. Keep a part of me with you, even when I'm far away. Let it be my promise, on my honour as a Knight of Favonius, and the future mate of a dragon, that I will prove myself worthy of being your one and only."
Neuvillette turns a genuine warm smile towards Kaeya. He removes his ribbon from his hair.
“Would you please adorn my hair with it, Kaeya.”
Kaeya nods, watching the way Neuvillette's hair falls in soft, silvery-white waves for a moment before pulling it free of his wrist and standing. He moves behind the Iudex for a moment, stroking through his hair to make sure it was neat, then wrapping the ribbon into it, a little further up than he usually wears it. He takes the time to make sure it's neat and presentable before sitting down again, the box now empty on the table.
"My colour suits you," Kaeya hums, gently taking his hand again to leave kisses over each of his knuckles.
“I am content right now. Your presence is soothing. I’d love to hear more tales from you.”
Looking at the half finished dinner he pulls his chair closer. His instincts desire proximity.
“Let’s finish and then figure out where the evening takes us.”
Kaeya nods in agreement, retrieving his own meal as he settles beside Neuvillette. Seeing where the evening went was a good idea.
"What tales do you want to hear?" he asks, sipping his wine, his leg gently bumping against Neuvillette's.
“I wish to hear about what drives you, my Kaeya. What passions you have. I’ve only seen glimpses of you dropping your guard. I wish to see more.“
His soup is left cooling and forgotten as he rests a hand on Kaeya’s forearm.
Kaeya inhales deeply for a moment. He's never shared his life with anyone before, not so deeply that he was sharing the secrets he kept close to his heart.
"I'm driven by the want to protect Teyvat. To protect Mondstadt," he said quietly. "I won't see someone else go through what I did when I lost the only father I really knew properly. But that's... depressing. Not really date talk." He paused for a moment. "I want my work to mean something. To leave a legacy behind that inspires people to be good, to be the best version of themselves."
Nodding Neuvillette listens carefully. “I was born alone and lived alone. I was recruited quite early by the former Archon Egeria. She vaulted me to my position. It is all I’ve ever known these long years.” Grabbing Kaeya’s free hand he begins scenting his wrist.
His draconic instincts seemed hell bent on keeping the man close. “I wish to know all sides of you. Your sadness, joys, frustrations, as you feel open to sharing I will listen. You are the only one on my shores that I need not judge lest you break the law.”
Feeling a sense of ease and calm with Neuvillette, Kaeya found himself spilling his story without fear of judgement. His heart ached as he remembered every moment vividly, and he felt queasy, but he got through without shedding a tear or faltering.
"I was abandoned as a child near Dawn Winery," he began. "I was no older than nine, perhaps ten? I was found by the owner of the winery. There was a storm that night, I was soaked to the bone. He took me home with him. He got me clean, dry and warm. He fed me. I was introduced to his son, who became my brother. I still don't know to this day what my real father meant when he said that I'm Khaenri'ah's last hope. All I know is that I was left as a spy, but I didn't know what I was supposed to be spying for. I grew close to my new family instead. They took care of me, raised me. I became a Knight."
Neuvillette was enraptured by Kaeya; listening intently as he gently coaxed the story out of the Knight. The moment of vulnerability was rewarded with light touches and brushed touches of thighs and knees together.
The dragon laments deeply for the confused child left in the rain.
“Do you ever wonder if your father will reappear and test your loyalties’”
"I used to," he confessed, shrugging. "But it's been years. If he was going to come back, he would've by now. I'm a different person now."
He sighs softly. "The Fatui got my adoptive father killed. My brother had to end it with his own hands just so he didn't suffer. I got there too late to do anything about it. I, uh, went to my brother to tell him everything that night. A mistake on my part, we were both grieving. He tried to kill me when I admitted where I'd come from. I survived that night because I was granted my vision. Cryo saved my life."
“You are a tapestry of pain and abandonment. It is no wonder you’ve walked a lonely path. I’m quite glad you’ve survived all your trials.
Now rubbing his thumb over Kaeya’s hand hoping to push reassurance through his touch.
“I’d love to see Mond as you call it through your eyes. I’d like to speak to all the people who made cameos in your story. I will try to keep my inner dragon in check meeting the men that nearly took you from me. By nearly taking your life or heart.”
Speaking in a mellow soft voice he leans in, tempted by the long graceful line of Kaeya’s neck. He scents him quelling his draconic need to claim.
Kaeya offered him a gentle smile, the touch between them keeping him grounded. "I'm glad my path has brought me here where I was able to meet you. It's... been so long, since someone has looked at me without resentment or hatred."
"Mondstadt is beautiful, I think you'd like it," he hummed, tilting his head a little once again to allow Neuvillette to satisfy his instincts. "It's mostly wide open space, fields and nature. Plenty of ruins to explore. And the views from the mountains are breathtaking."
“I will enjoy seeing it through your eyes.”
He stops scenting as Kaeya’s words echo through the room. He gently tilts his head cupping his chin gently.
“I can sense all those words of resentment and hatred color your perception of yourself. But you are my precious one now. A crown jewel in my personal treasure hoard.”
Kaeya's breath catches in his throat, his body responding to the touches with warmth pooling in his stomach, fluttering in his chest and twitching in his pants.
"I... yes. Yes, I am yours..." he said quietly, lifting his eye to meet Neuvillette's.
“Good we have an understanding. What do humans do at this point?”
Lavender eyes full of curiosity and warmth look into Kaeya’s face expectantly.
"It, uh, depends. It's different for everyone. Some choose to spend the night together on the first date, others say goodnight and part until the next one. Some will give a kiss goodnight, others prefer not to," he explained, his eye bright with interest as he watched Neuvillette for his response.
"I suppose this would be a first date." Neuvillette searches the Captain's face, smoothing stray hairs of his midnight blue hair. The texture was soft and pleasant, he enjoyed the feel of it under his hands,
"I am at your mercy my Kaeya. What would you like to do with me?"
Kaeya gently reached forward, his hand resting on Neuvillette's cheek, thumb brushing beneath his eye in a careful swipe.
"If it's alright with you, I'd like to kiss you."
"Yes, I am amenable to kissing you. I have never done this before. You simply put lips together, correct?"
Neuvillette leaned in closer with anticipation and heat crackled between the two. His lavender eyes darken with desire. The scent of romaritime flowers and ink wafted in the air as his rhinophores glow and rise in interest.
Kaeya chuckled, soft and kind.
"I'll show you," he said with promise, leaning forward and slotting their lips together. First just a peck to test the waters, then something a little deeper, encouraging with movement and soft hums.
Neuvillette's eyes widened at the initial peck. He tastes traces of Kaeya'a dinner on his full lips. The deeper kiss had him feeling quite out of sorts. Heat rushes to his cheeks and his heartbeat feels like it is in his ears.
Desire curls in his stomach aching and cloying. It spills out in spastic waves urging him closer.
Mate
Kaeya makes sure to control himself, not wanting to scare the dragon away after his first kiss. With their combined tastes on his lips, he pulls back.
"Was that okay?" he asked.
“Yes” Pausing Neuvillette takes assessment of all of the sensations running through his body. Canting his head to the side with an inquisitive vane.
“I feel quite pleasant. A warmth in my center. I must ask in turn if I have performed the task to your liking.”
Kaeya laughed breathily at the seriousness. "Don't take it so seriously, it's not a task, it's just something people do when they date and feel attraction. It's a feeling. And yes, you did fine. You'll keep improving the more we kiss."
He dug into his pocket for some mora he had on hand, leaving it on the table as a tip for their waiter. "Can I walk you home, Neuvillette?"
Neuvillette blushes fiercely and attempts to hide it by scenting Kaeya’s wrist.
“I’ll improve as quickly as I can. Please let me know what will please you better.”
He nods, raising to stand next to the Captain running fingers through midnight silk. “Yes my Kaeya I’d like to show you my home.”

Summary:
Kaeya gasped, feeling his long tongue trailing along his neck. He was pressed so close they were almost one, and his words and the burst of confidence he'd not even shown an hour ago was going straight to Kaeya's core.
"If that's how I taste then perhaps I was made for you," he breathed, licking back into Neuvillette's mouth the moment he stopped biting his lip.
Kaeya had intended to be a total gentleman tonight. This wasn't supposed to be happening. He just couldn't resist, though, the way the dragon kissed him was intoxicating and he only wanted more.
"Mine."
Growls Neuvillette softly. Sensations swarm him, overwhelming and enticing. His dragon wants to claim and own Kaeya. He drags sharp hard claws down Kaeya's neck, just hard enough to edge in pain. Leaving satisfying red marks raising on smooth sun-kissed skin.
Neuvillette brings Kaeya into his home. Their romance deepens as the two begin to deepen their connection.
Notes:
Neuvillette is too good for this world. He deserves a level of worship that I think only Kaeya can deliver. This is more of a slow burn than I expected. But they are starting to catch some feelings. It's so soft. I love them!

Chapter Text
"We'll learn more about each other over time," Kaeya assured him, standing with him and offering his hand. "I'd like to see your home, yes."
Kaeya thanked the waiter as they passed, smiling politely as he and Neuvillette left the building
Strolling through the quiet streets, Neuvillette felt anxious. He’s about to show his prospective mate his home. It’s possible Kaeya will reject his home. Reject him, his ability to provide.
Worried thoughts keep him from speaking. His normally impartial face was broken as he worried his bottom lip through spiraling thoughts.
The quiet between them wasn't as awkward as Kaeya feared it would be. The night was peaceful, and he enjoyed the company of the other.
"What's on your mind, Neuvillette?" Kaeya asked, noticing the distant look on his face when he looked at him.
Gripping the head of his cane tighter he hums. “Several things, but mostly I’m anxious to show you my home.”
His rhinophores droop flat against his head. “I’m - the dragon side.” He quietly adds almost a whisper. “Is afraid you will reject my home. It would mean that you don’t see me as a capable mate able to provide shelter for you and potential hatchlings.”
Kaeya gave him a gentle nudge, offering him a kind, comforting smile.
"I think your home is going to be wonderful, there's nothing to worry about," he assured him cheerfully, lips still tingling from the kiss and stomach still curling with desire.
Bolstered by the reassurance Neuvillette pointed out areas of interest. Realizing he was monopolizing their conversation. “I seem to be unable to find a balance. I was rude and silent then spoke so much you couldn’t interject if you wished to. But uh-“ He tucks his long locks behind his ear pulling a key set from an inner pocket in his robes.
“We are here.” Neuvillette has stopped in front of a modest townhouse turning to smile at Kaeya. “Would you like to come in?”
"Don't apologise, I like listening to you. Your voice is very calming," Kaeya told him truthfully. He'd hung on every word the man had said, following where he was pointing as he'd explained things to him.
"I'd like to, if you're comfortable with that," he said, nodding. It was a nice size townhouse, not as extravagant outside as he'd expected from someone with the power and status as Neuvillette, but it was pleasant. About the size of his own home back in Mondstadt.
Neuvillette lets the door close behind them and gestures to his foyer which is open concept; the living room sits in the front of the townhouse. The furniture is something out of a museum. As if no one ever used it. The kitchen was spotless and void of any sign of use.
Book cases lined with scores of leather bound books and display cases of shells, trinkets, and colored glass. On the walls were framed pieces of abstract art. Blurs of color each one placed meticulously and thoughtfully.
"Wow," he breathed as he stepped inside, looking around and taking everything in. "It's definitely unused here, it smells too clean. But your collections are incredible."
Kaeya stepped closer to shelves, carefully admiring each shelf of items and reading over the book titles, most of which he'd never seen before. The coloured glass was his favourite.
"This is beautiful," he said, continuing to look around. Despite being clean and unused, Neuvillette had a beautiful home.
“I don’t require much sleep. Lady Furina gifted me this townhouse and I’ve simply not had a reason to change much of it.” Removing his mantle, robe, and boots he places them carefully in their designated homes and pads quietly across the floor.
“Ah yes these are from the melusines. I adore every gift. The art is from Mamere. Her unique perspective always makes me smile.” The smile he reserves for his melusine daughters graces his face as his eyes light up.
Kaeya spent a few minutes looking at each painting, remembering Mamere taking him conch hunting just that morning. It was unlike any art he'd ever seen, and it was certainly strange, but it was beautiful nonetheless.
"The use of colours are interesting and abstract, but they fit surprisingly well together. I have no idea what she was imagining when painting these, but that's what makes them beautiful. Her mind is unique and no one could ever recreate these. I'm actually looking forward to seeing what she uses our conches for," he said.
He politely kicked off his boots, setting them aside with Neuvillette's so he didn't track dirt through the pristine house.
"As for the house, sleep or not, you deserve a break from being at the Palais all the time, Neuvillette. Being at home separates you from that to give you a break."
"Mamere sees in a spectrum that humans cannot see. This is how she perceives emotions, humans, her home, her sisters and even myself. I adore her and these pieces are part of my dearest treasures."
Turning towards Kaeya he offers a shy smile as he brushes back a stray lock of midnight hair. Petting down the length of the hair resting on the ribbon. "I hope to include you as well."
"That's... incredible. Maybe I'll have to ask her to explain her thought process to me," Kaeya said thoughtfully.
He smiled at Neuvillette, leaning a little into the touch, enjoying the feeling every time his gentle touch came in contact with him. "A treasure is not something I've ever been called before. I... think I like it."
"Dragon's prize their mates. I would adorn you in finery, place you in jewels to compliment your remarkable features. It solidifies our bond and my claim. If none have ever known you to be a treasure they are foolish. You will be my treasure, My shining golden jewel."
Moving into Kaeya's space led by pure instinct he presses his lips into Kaeya's fuller lips.
Kaeya's tanned cheeks burned red at Neuvillette's words, his mind drifting to images of what he said. Finery and jewels were not something he'd ever known, ever even dreamed of, yet here was a man - a dragon - promising him all of it.
His heart raced, and he responded immediately when soft lips pressed to his. One hand pulled at the front of his clothing to bring him closer while the other lifted to thread into soft, silk hair.
Deepening the kiss he pulls Kaeya closer to him. Feeling their bodies press together his rhinophores perk up, a blue glow surrounds the pair.
Warmth coils in his gut. He wants, craves this man. His dragon has chosen and covets.
Kaeya makes a soft, slightly startled noise as their tongues meet, his body melting easily into the touch. He was teaching Neuvillette to kiss not even an hour ago, and now the dragon was taking the lead.
Already after such a short space of time, Neuvillette was making him feel... comfortable. Cherished. Safe. Like he was the most important thing in all of Teyvat.
Purring deeply, Neuvillette’s tongue forked elongated and snaked its way to taste Kaeya’s mouth.
Realization of his transformation hits as he tastes the back of Kaeya’s mouth. Breaking away from the kiss a deep flush graces his cheeks.
“Apologies, I lost myself in the moment. Your acceptance of me and my home, imagining you adorned in finery, my jewelry, one of my more draconic features manifested.”
"No, it's- it's okay," Kaeya assured him breathlessly. "I liked it. A lot, actually. Your instincts really help you with kissing, I- that was wonderful."
His heart was thumping against his ribs, almost salivating from how delicious the kiss was. He'd started to imagine all the wicked things that tongue could do, and it wasn't helping his situation. He needed to stay level headed and in control of himself.
“I’m relieved my sudden shift did not alarm you. I also enjoyed kissing you again in my home.” The glow of his rhinophores dims a little but still twitch expectantly.
“Would you like to see the other floor of my home? It's just my office and bedrooms but I’d find comfort in your approval of them.”
Hearing that the comfort would help him, Kaeya nodded immediately.
"Yeah, I'd love to see the rest of your home,'' he said, motioning for the other to lead the way.
Being a solitary creature by nature Neuvillette has never had anyone to his home save one of his beloved daughters. Kaeya here in his lair felt right.
Taking Kaeya’s hand in his own, a pulse of energy radiated from the touch, warm, pleasant, and enticing.
Kaeya’s golden brown skin against his pale blue scaled skin contrasted and complimented each other. “You’re quite striking my Kaeya. I cannot take my eyes off of you.”
Upstairs is much the same, the office is exceptionally tidy. There is a singular folder on the desk every quill, ink well, book, note and stationary is exactly in its spot. There are some more book shelves and another painting on the wall.
The guest bedroom looks untouched, well furnished, expensive looking upholstery furnished as window dressings. Blues and golds accent the room.
Neuvillette’s master suite is impeccably furnished. A large bed with thick lush blankets neatly made. A vanity with a large mirror and scores of ribbons brushes and makeup precisely arranged. The master bathroom is attached.
The bathroom is the most modern room as a very large deep tub is the central focus. In the far corner is a shower. The tiling is white with occasional small gold diamonds.
Kaeya looked around as Neuvillette led him through the house, taking in everything he could see. It was definitely very Neuvillette styled, with his colours everywhere and everything else quite plain and simple. Kaeya liked it.
He couldn't help the way his mind drifted to how those sheets would feel beneath their bare skin as he took Neuvillette apart slowly with his mouth and his fingers-
The thoughts were shaken away abruptly. That wasn't what he was here for.
"You have such a beautiful house, it's a shame you don't spend time here to enjoy it," he said.
“I’ve lived a very solitary life. It had never felt like anything more than a place to lay my head. My job is demanding and I’ve spent many evening hours simply working at the Palais.” Softly purring he entwines his fingers with Kaeya’s.
“When you are here with me this space feels much more like a home.”
"Then I will leave something of mine here for you so it might help you feel like I'm close," Kaeya promised, already deciding in his head to leave a part of his uniform and a shirt behind for the dragon. "I hope it might encourage you to rest at home more often."
"That is a dear kindness I -" he faltered, collecting his thoughts. He should be a good host and allow Kaeya to leave for the evening. But he selfishly did not want him to leave. "None before have ever done anything close."
Blushing he looks down at their fingers still intertwined. Kaeya was not wearing any rings or adornments, Those men in Mondstadt needed to know Kaeya's status. His dragon demanded it. A ring from his collection came to mind. It was the same blue as his hair and gave the same hint of a glow as his playful eyes. It was perfect.
"I wish to return the gesture, I have something for you." he moves through his room and stands in front of the vanity. He opens a drawer and pulls out the bottom. He returns holding a small velvet box. Lavender glow fills the space around them as his eyes react from his contentment.
"Please open this."
"I'm hoping I can impress you with the nice gestures," he said shyly, a soft chuckle leaving his lips. "And you've talked a little about the dragon thing, and I think from the scenting, that you may find my clothing being here appealing, is that right? Please let me know if I'm wrong, I don't want to offend you."
Kaeya raised a brow as he took the box, carefully opening it. He felt his heart leap into his throat. "It's beautiful," he breathed, tilting the box to watch the stone shimmer. "Neuvillette please, this looks special, I can't possibly take this from you. It's part of your collection, it’s personal, it should be kept hidden away safely."
He looked at the dragon, eyes shining with emotion as he held the box in his hand, his heartbeat thundering in his ears. His clothes were nothing special, but to be granted something so precious and probably expensive? Insane. He could barely wrap his mind around it. He really hoped he wouldn't take this as rejection, but Kaeya could already feel guilt settling in the pit of his stomach knowing that Neuvillette would give him something so special.
"Yes, the scenting is a dragon thing. I am coming to realize a few more things. Your scent in my home would make it much more comfortable. Your clothing, yes I would find that quite soothing." Taking Kaeya's hand again he scents the wrist.
He takes the ring from the box and slides it onto his finger marveling at how exquisitely perfect it sat against his skin. "I wish to give you this for many reasons. Firstly, I wish you to have a token you can look at to remember me. But I also wish others who might covet you to know that you are spoken for. Dragons love fiercely and tend towards possessiveness. I will not keep you from your intended path. But I insist you allow me to shower you with gifts." His purr deepens while he looks at the ring on his prospective mate.
"I find you quite beautiful Kaeya. This ring is a reflection of that beauty. You outpace it easily. It reminds me of you, you are much more precious in value to me than that ring is."
Kaeya had barely stopped blushing the whole time he'd been with Neuvillette. The ring was cool against his skin, only deepening the warmth of his cheeks.
"I don't think I'd forget you, even if I tried. And I have the ribbon in my hair to remind me of you, too. I like you a lot, Neuvillette, and I hope I'll make a worthy mate for you," he said, leaning forward to press their lips together, soft and sweet,
He hadn't expected to come to Fontaine and find someone he was falling for beyond just a single night between the sheets. Being with Neuvillette felt special, it felt different. Neuvillette deserved more, and Kaeya wanted to give him more.
When Kaeya kisses him so sweetly he felt a soft warmth build in his core. This coupled with seeing him so content with his attention. and adorned in his gifts, the dragon inside wanted his mate to know indelibly that he was a worthy mate.
Stepping closer to Kaeya he stands a little taller. "You have shown me more consideration, thoughtfulness, attention, and - " he pauses and slowly unties the eyepatch. "Shown me true hidden parts of yourself. Dragons do most things with a great deal of intensity, The part of me that is dragon has chosen you. It wants you and only you."
Pretty blue claws comb through Kaeya's midnight locks. His rhinophores splash them in a gentle bluish glow that gets brighter as Neuvillette kisses Kaeya back. Deepening the kiss, his dragon wants. No longer fearing his dragon features his tongue forks and tastes Kaeya's lips and tongue.
Pulling the Captain flush with his own body he can feel how solid and warm Kaeya is. He lets his hands smooth over muscled shoulders and pull them closer together.
Kaeya had to tilt his head just a little to look up at Neuvillette, his authoritative air bringing a gooey warmth to his stomach. Kaeya was never chosen, not like this. Not only had someone chosen him, but that someone was one of the most ancient beings in all of Teyvat. Powerful, firm, intense. Possessive. Neuvillette had confessed to being possessive.
He felt himself tense when his patch fell away from his eye. No one else had ever taken it off before, especially not a partner of any description. Neuvillette liked his eye, though, despite the history and the ancestry it proved. His Khaenri'ahn heritage was in that golden iris, and Neuvillette acted like it was the most valuable treasure in the world.
The tension melts immediately when he finds himself pressed against the Iudex, back slightly bent as Neuvillette leans over him, asserting his dominance and his claim with his tongue in his mouth. He made a quiet, aroused noise into the kiss, gripping the front of Neuvillette's shirt to keep them pressed together as he fought back with his own kiss.
Kaeya's clutching hands urged Neuvillette further. Breaking the kiss briefly he licks at the pulse point on Kaeya's long neck. A satisfied growl rumbles through his chest. "You taste as though you were made just for me." He decided he loves the sweet little noises Kaeya makes and wants to hear more.
He sucked in Kaeya's full bottom lip. Nibbling carefully to keep his sharp fangs from biting through. His tongue searched to immerse himself in Kaeya's unique exceptional taste.
There is no separation between their mouths, There is no point that Neuvillette ends and Kaeya begins. They have merged, made whole again in soul through entangled lips.
The loud chime of an ancient grandfather clock breaks the heated spell on Neuvillette. He breaks the kiss off. Staring intensely into Kaeya's gorgeous jeweled eyes.
"Yes, you were made for me, my jewel."
Kaeya can barely agree to the word before he's moaning, the stinging along his neck making him ache with desire. It was like he was under a spell and Neuvillette was pulling the strings. He wouldn't be mad if he was pulling the strings.
The chiming of the clock grounded Kaeya again, reminding him where he was, and what he was doing. It was late, and he was only supposed to walk the Iudex home. A part of him didn't want to leave, though.
"I should get going," he said quietly, reluctantly, still pressed against Neuvillette's front.
Neuvillette smooths a lock of silky midnight blue hair. "If I am honest I do not wish for you to go. However, that would be selfish of me. You will need rest to enjoy the rest of your vacation."
Taking time to scent along Kaeya's neck for a few moments he purrs. "I do wish to see you again before you leave. Would it be alright to send word to you at the Hotel?"
The Knight wanted to stay, he wanted to tell Neuvillette there and then that he'd stay if that's what he wanted, but he had to be reasonable. He had to be smart about this. And besides, he couldn't collect what he wanted to leave for him if he was still here.
"Yes, please do send word," Kaeya said, nodding, head tilted as Neuvillette nuzzled there. Kaeya was quite content to let him do so. When Neuvillette was done, Kaeya returned the gesture, though instead of being able to scent, Kaeya placed gentle kisses to soft skin instead, nose brushing against the length of his neck.
Neuvillette shivers, enjoying the attention. Kissing the corner of his golden eye he offers Kaeya back his eyepatch.
"I have grown quite fond of you Kaeya." smiling softly he coughs awkwardly.
"Let me show you out,"
Kaeya takes the patch back with thanks, putting it back into place as his skin tingled where a kiss was left. He was starting to like his odd eyes.
"I'm fond of you, too," he responded, following Neuvillette down to the door. He took the Iudex's hand in his, bowing low as he pressed a kiss to the back of it. "I'll see you the next time you call for me. Tonight has been wonderful, thank you."
"Tonight was enthralling, Kaeya, I have sincere gratitude for your patience with me. I hope sleep finds you easily. I promise to call on you tomorrow." Leaving one last chaste kiss on soft honey-suckle skin Neuvillette shuts the door and leans against it, sighing out shakily.
His body was an open nerve of emotion and sensation. Kaeya's scent lingered in his home. Calla Lily and tundra. Neuvillette licked his lips and could still taste the addicting taste of the Captain.
Picturing the mesmerizing golden eye that causes Kaeya such pain. To Neuvillette it was a jewel plucked from the heavens stolen and placed in his eye. He was beautiful, gracious, patient, kind, his words flowed like melodic honey through his memory.
Heading over to his fridge Neuvillette grabs a Monstadt water and chugs it down. Images of windmills, narrow streets, carts pulled by oxen carrying barrels of fresh water. Kaeya greets the merchant and bows, flashing his perfect smile. It seems that the bewitching Captain leaves more of an impression than he realizes.
The water was meant to relax him , now he had taken to pacing his living room. All of their moments together replayed in his mind. Fluttering sensations flood his abdomen. He wished Kaeya had stayed.
Kaeya spent a few minutes standing still once he'd moved away from Neuvillette's home, taking deep breaths to collect himself. He needed to remind himself that this was the first date, and he'd known this man for a mere few days. He couldn't let himself dive in so deep in such a short amount of time, especially not with his impending trip home.
Yet Kaeya was hooked. Already addicted. Rainbow roses and romaritime flowers seemed to follow the Iudex, leaving a pleasant warmth within him.
Neuvillette was nervous and unsure, wanting to learn the human way of things so he could fit in more. The dragon, on the other hand, was a dominant presence with a need to possess and to claim. He couldn't remember ever being kissed so breathless before, blushing like a lady who he'd been flirting with.
Sighing to himself, he made the walk back to the hotel, intent on cleaning himself up and getting some sleep, hoping Neuvillette would send him a note to see him again sooner rather than later.
The cool dawn air brushed against Neuvillette's cheeks. He had not slept, he stayed awake thinking about how moldable and willing Kaeya had been in his arms. How his kisses made him just want more.
He had begun getting ready some time ago. He’d made time to braid Kaeya's hair tie into his hair. Kaeya's scent still lingered on it even now. He left his door precisely at sunrise. Well before his office opened, he was hoping to get extra work done as he needed to rearrange his schedule.
Kaeya
I would be honored if you would meet me this afternoon at 1:45pm, I will be at Cafe Lutece waiting for you.
Yours, Neuvillette
He sends the sealed correspondence with his trusted melusine and attempts to get work done.
Kaeya was exploring the market when the little melusine found him some time after sunrise.
He'd had his morning tea and a light breakfast, his hair was in a high ponytail this time with the golden ribbon hiding the tie, and his trinket sat among the gold fabric. He was hoping to find a jeweller who could turn it into an earring for him, that way it wouldn't keep getting snagged in his hair.
With no paper to hand this time, he requested the message be passed verbally.
"If you don't mind, I'd appreciate it if you could let the Monsieur know that I'd be delighted to meet him for lunch. I will be there right on time."
She repeated it back to him to make sure she'd heard it all, and when she had his nod of approval, she bid him goodbye and skipped away, heading back to deliver the response to Neuvillette.
Looking up from his desk he smiled genuinely as he recognized Minthe skipping into his office. “Good morning Monsieur Neuvillette. I delivered the message to Monsieur Kaeya as instructed. He has a verbal return message for you.”
His rhinophores twitched at the mention of Kaeya. “Good morning Minthe, thank you for taking care of this task for me. Please share the message.”
Standing straight, her tail wagging back and forth she recites. “Let the Monsieur know that I’d be delighted to meet him for lunch. I’ll be there right on time.” She beams up at Neuvillette knowing she did her job to her fullest ability.
“Thank you very much Minthe.” Standing up he hands her several trinkets and pats her head with affection. “Enjoy the rest of your day.”
“You as well Monsieur Neuvillette.” After she skips out Neuvillette notices his heart rate has increased and his body feels tense. Kaeya was becoming a fixture in his thoughts, a locus point to tether to.
He sits down to continue working, memories of their heated kiss keep interrupting his concentration.
Finally the morning had finished torturing him with its slow passage. Leaving his office in order he heads out to meet with Kaeya.
Kaeya spends his morning resting, enjoying the bustling of Fontaine as people pass him by. Melusines stopped to say hello and check if he was okay, sometimes guards did the same. He was never short on company.
He had a soft white shirt folded back in his room ready to gift to Neuvillette for his home, along with the fur cape from his uniform. It was one of a kind, he'd have to have another made to replace it, but Neuvillette was worth it.
Neuvillette had consumed his thoughts even in his sleep, leaving him to wake to a hard cock and a cold shower.
When lunch crept near, Kaeya took a leisurely walk over to the meeting place, feeling his heart fluttering knowing he'd be seeing the dragon again.
Notes:
Oooooooooo Kaeya did a great job getting in Neuvillette's mind. That dragon cannot stop thinking about the pretty silver tongued knight. (I can't blame him). This RP has become a fun little obsession. I really hope it's being enjoyed!

Chapter 7: Courting Justice
Summary:
It's their first official date, Kaeya is being treated like a princess. Neuvillette cannot be told no.
Taking a sip of wine he kisses Kaeya softly tasting wine stained lips.
“I wish for you to feel treasured. I hope you can be patient with me.”
Kaeya huffed again, nuzzling close to the comfort Neuvillette's shared anger brought to him.
He moaned softly to their kiss, his tongue freely tasting the wine on the other's lips, even more intoxicating than the wine itself.
"I am treasured with you, Neuvillette. No one has ever looked beneath the eyepatch and seen beauty. No one has ever seen me." He felt a shudder roll through him. Neuvillette's desire to possess him was so strong, so intense, but Kaeya wanted it. He wanted to be desired so hard that it was a possessive feeling.
Notes:
I love how much Neuvillette wants to show off Kaeya. Like no one will know, because we won't tell them. But I am going to drip you in so much finery that everyone will know. Neuvillette is not terribly good at dissembling. Never one to lie or deceive. He just fell in love. What can he do! I hope you enjoy it as much as we have really loved writing it.

Chapter Text
Smoothing his robes, Neuvillette stands near where he first met the mesmerizing Captain. He passed a flower vendor on the way who had fresh Calla lillies, on impulse he bought a bouquet of Calla lilies and romaritime flowers. The symbolism soothed his dragon a little.
His shoulders relax, as soon as Kaeya’s figure approaches the cafe. The perfect mate. Locking eyes he offers a small smile and a nod of acknowledgment.
Kaeya's smile brightened as he picked up the pace a little, almost jogging to meet up with him. He wanted so badly to just kiss him, but he was the most important figure in the whole nation, so he couldn't risk anything like that. Instead, he settled for waiting.
"It's wonderful to see you again," Kaeya said, smiling warmly. How he wanted to take his eyepatch off just to please the dragon, but he couldn't while there were so many people around, he needed to protect himself, and that meant his eye remained a secret.
Neuvillette ghosted a touch on Kaeya’s forearm while gesturing to the menu. A quiet claim; a secret between the two of them.
“Please order a beverage of your choice then we have an appointment to keep.”
"We do, yes," he hummed in agreement, glancing at the menu. "Ooh, that tea is delicious, I've had it a few times now. It's very floral, but it's sweet, too."
Kaeya had come to find a few new favourites in the time he'd spent in Fontaine, and he hoped he was able to get some shipped to Mondstadt with him.
Neuvillette orders two of them and sips his while he strolls casually through the Court of Fontaine.
“I’ve taken the rest of the day off. So I am at your disposal. I hope you enjoy what I have planned.” Leading them into a very posh looking high end clothing shop Neuvillette opens the door and holds it open for Kaeya.
Inside are beautifully crafted clothing, each a work of art in itself. A self assured woman stands in the middle of the shop.
“Close the door, come in, let's get started. I don’t have eternity.” Her tone is not impolite but efficient.
“Lady Chiori, a pleasure, yes I’m your two o’clock.” Closing the door he expounds. “My companion is visiting from Mondstadt. I’d very much like to treat him to Fontaine’s finest. Charge everything he likes to me please.”
"I'm looking forward to spending the day with you, whatever we end up doing," Kaeya said, overjoyed that not only had Neuvillette taken time for himself, but to want to spend it with Kaeya, too. "I'm glad you're taking time for yourself, even if it's spending it with me, but I hope I haven't interrupted anything important."
Kaeya had heard of Chioriya Boutique. It was every woman's dream in Mondstadt to own a piece of her clothing. Stunning, original, not a thread out of place. But also expensive.
Kaeya looked nervously at Neuvillette.
"Monsieur, please, there's no need for that," he said shyly. He knew exactly what this was about, but he couldn't just let Neuvillette spend all this money on him without trying to talk him down a little at least.
“Nonsense, it’s really not a problem at all. Monsieur I insist.” He steps a little closer and speaks quietly so only Kaeya can hear.
“Allow me to do this. It may be some weeks before I can see you again. I need to know that you’re taken care of and feel as cherished as you are. Parts of me wish it to be very clear you are claimed.” He offers a small reassuring smile.
Kaeya sighed softly. He couldn't outdo this. There was no way he'd find something worth this to gift to Neuvillette in turn.
Reluctantly, he nodded. He had plenty of clothes to wear, he was well taken care of in Mondstadt, but rejecting this part of Neuvillette would be equivalent to rejecting him as a whole. He wasn't going to do that.
"Alright, but you have to promise not to overdo it," Kaeya bargained.
Neuvillette levels a soft smile that only Kaeya can see. Lavender eyes show genuine warmth and joy.
“There is no way to overdo this. Chiori is the foremost knowledgeable person I know regarding fashion. You are in excellent hands.”
Turning away from Kaeya, he takes in rich fabrics and turns to Chiori. “I’m commissioning a one of a kind suit. I’d like it to take Monsieur Kaeya’s already charming demeanor and elements that are decidedly Fontainian. Using my personal tastes as reference.”
Chiori nods. She sizes up Kaeya. Moving more quickly than he thought possible Chiori has him by the arm. “Come, come , Monsieur, I need measurements and a moment to sketch.”
Kaeya yelped softly as he was pulled along, glancing back at Neuvillette. He stood exactly where he was told and did as he was told while Chiori took his measurements in every crevice she could find from top to toe, and then sent him back to Neuvillette so she could sketch a few ideas to show for approval.
Kaeya had his arms folded as he approached the Iudex, a small smile on his face and curiosity in his eye.
"What have you got planned, Monsieur?" he asked. Surely there was more to a new outfit than just a claim on him.
“Why would I not want you to remember how cherished you are when you are away from me.” Neuvillette says softly. He’s picking up a shirt and holding it up. Comparing how different colors look against Kaeya’s caramel skin.
“I looked over my schedule for the next month to see when I may take some time. As it will be at least 4-6 weeks. I insist you allow me to update your wardrobe. Adorn you with symbols of the security I can provide.” His voice tumbles out a velvet soft lilting caress meant only for Kaeya’s ears
In that moment, Kaeya wants nothing more than to embrace Neuvillette, to kiss him silly. They're in public though, so he has to behave. His hand feels heavy with the weight of the ring on his finger.
"I don't need symbols of your affection or security, Neuvillette," he says as his body shudders gently, reacting to his warm voice. "I already know. I believe what you say to me."
“Perhaps, it’s not a custom for you. Though part of me will be more at ease with this gesture.” Chiori flips pages over and shoves it at Neuvillette. “Here, Look at this.”
An approving nod is the only movement of his face. “This is truly stunning, yes. This is perfect. I’d also like 2 additional Fontainian suits. Something that won’t interfere with the existing armor.”
He’s on his best behavior, though he wants to scent and kiss Kaeya again. Hopefully, Kaeya will be up for his additional plans after shopping.
Kaeya listens, quiet and obedient as Chiori and Neuvillette go through details and payments and also collection arrangements. It was so much to take in that Neuvillette wanted to do this for him.
Three new outfits to go home with? He really hoped his bag was big enough to pack them properly.
"What's the next part of your arranged day?" Kaeya asked when Neuvillette was done with Chiori, who seemed to already be getting to work.
“Have you seen much of the countryside other than our swim? I would like to take you for a picnic in Elynas and visit Merusea Village where my melusine live.”
Lavender eyes sparkle with expectation. Neuvillette has quickly come to associate a warmth flooding his body when Kaeya is around. The man’s presence soothes away any tension left in his mind and body.
It’s curious that it’s been merely a couple of days. There is no way to deny that he has grown to have a great deal of affection for this man.
"I've seen little bits around the city and along the aquabus lines, but I've not actively explored yet. I admit I got distracted by a rather handsome Iudex," he hummed, a flirtatious smile on his face.
"I think a picnic is a wonderful idea, and meeting more of the Melusines would be an honour."
Neuvillette filled him with warmth. Warmth and love and freedom. He could be fully himself, right down to his Khaenri'ahn heritage and Neuvillette didn't bat an eyelid at him. He was safe with this man.
Neuvillette was going to have everything Kaeya could give him.
“I do hope it’s been a pleasant distraction. I’m very pleased you’ll allow me to distract you further. I’ll simply finish with Chiori. When is your last day at the Delbord? I’d like to make sure the tailoring is done before you go.”
His eyes are warm. He almost reaches out and grabs Kaeya’s hand and remembers himself. He is still the Iudex; he must conduct himself as such publicly.
"I've had a wonderful time being distracted," he hummed, nodding. "I leave in four days. My last night is in three days time."
Hearing it out loud like that really puts it into perspective. Kaeya would be leaving in four days, and he'd have to go a while without seeing Neuvillette. They could write, of course, and Kaeya would write as often as he could, but he wouldn't be able to see him. To touch, to kiss. It made his heart ache with sadness.
“That should be plenty of time.” He smiles though it doesn’t reach his eyes.
As he finishes letting Chiori know his wishes and provides the address for delivery his mind keeps drifting to Kaeya . He knew Kaeya was only here for a few days. That does not give him a lot of time to convey just how far he has become enamored. More than material things, he would imprint just how much the Kaeya as a being pleased him.
Chiori pushes them out of her shop. “Out, let me work. You’ll have them soon Monsieur Kaeya, enjoy your day.”
“Well then let us secure a boat. I normally simply swim to the island. I think a short row over to the island will be invigorating.”
"Thank you, Miss Chiori!" Kaeya calls to her as she closes the door, laughing softly.
His attention turns then to Neuvillette, agreeing to their plan as they start their walk to get a boat for their trip. Kaeya made a mental note to have Neuvillette walk him back to the hotel so he could gift the clothes to him. He wanted to embrace every part of Neuvillette the way he had done to him.
The further they get away from Fontaine Court the closer Neuvillette stands next to Kaeya as they walk. Feeling the tension leave his shoulders and back as they get closer to the water.
Unmooring a row boat he helps Kaeya in allowing their hands to connect just a little longer than normal. Being that he was the host he rowed them out to Elynas. Sunlight filtered through light wispy clouds. Light sea scented breeze catches tendrils of white strands of hair.
“Ah, here we are. Let me just pull the boat to shore then you can jump to the shore.” Kaeya and the boat weigh next to nothing when compared to his natural strength. His inner dragon wanted to show off a little bit.
They made small talk during the boat trip while Kaeya looked around and admired how beautiful and peaceful it was. He easily could've gotten his feet wet to help Neuvillette, or he could've created himself a path to get to shore to assist, but he let Neuvillette have his moment.
Kaeya stood for a moment, taking in a deep breath of the fresh air, admiring what was around him. It was peaceful here. Quiet. The perfect place for Neuvillette to be himself, and for Kaeya to encourage it.
"It's beautiful here," he said, looking at Neuvillette and smiling.
“Yes, Fontaine has many beautiful, wild spaces, though I’d rather spend my time here looking at you. All of you.” Gently, he steps closely kissing Kaeya softly, a little hesitantly. Then removes his eye patch.
“There, you truly are a vision. A hidden gem, my rare Jewel.” A deep rumbling purr fills the space between them.
How had this man moved from being a stranger into a person he did not want to part sides with. His dragon had chosen, after centuries of suppressing his draconic instincts, they had risen up and staked a firm claim.
Kaeya's face warms again as his patch is removed, blinking as his eyes adjust to work together. No one had ever been so fascinated by his golden eye before and seeing the love Neuvillette felt for it was filling his stomach with warm flutters.
"Fontaine is a beautiful Nation," the Knight agreed. "But my favourite sight so far has been the dragon that seems to have stolen my heart. I've never known someone so interested in what's under the eyepatch before."
Kaeya leaned in again, connecting their lips more firmly this time, tongue teasing along the seam to ask permission to deepen it, to show Neuvillette exactly how interested he was.
Encouraged by Kaeya’s teasing kiss, Neuvillette removes his gloves and tucks them in a pocket, it’s an indulgence to feel Kaeya’s soft midnight ink colored hair.
His exploring fingers pull Kaeya’s head forward, deepening the connection of their lips. He allows Kaeya’s entreating tongue access.
Moaning deeply quietly with deep satisfaction and contentment. Here in seclusion he can stretch long hidden pieces of himself. His tongue, and fangs elongate while his claws lengthen. A tail that he rarely allows to show seeks to pull Kaeya’s body closer by pulling him closer at the waist.
Kaeya gasps into their kiss when his body is jammed closer to the Iudex. He pulls away for a moment to catch his breath, eyes widening and words failing him.
Neuvillette was beautiful.
The soft glow of his eyes and his rhinophores cast a crystal glow over them, scales shimmering like little gems among the rocks by the shore. His claws and teeth were deadly, yet he was so gentle with Kaeya, like he was afraid to break him.
"I- Neuvillette-" Kaeya breathed, reaching up to touch a patch of scales on his cheekbone. "You are... so beautiful. I've never seen a dragon up close before. You're incredible."
He looked down at the tail hooked around his middle, its hold on him gentle but firm, possessive even. It sent a shiver along his spine.
"I suppose I feel at great ease around you. I-" pointed ears tinge red. Kaeya is looking at him as though he were a one of a kind wonder, a rare artifact from another world. In a way, they both were exactly that. Anachronistic creatures given form, stumbling around a world that cannot fully accept or understand them.
"I am mesmerized by your eyes Kaeya, I have come to understand that it is through a person's eyes that you can understand a great deal about them. In yours I saw so much sadness, and fear, but also hope. That hope, I recognize it, I've used the same tether to carry me through my hardest times."
Indulging in petting Kaeya'a silky strands a few more moments, he knows he is stalling, stretching out the time entwined and close to the Captain. "I am loath to break my hold of you, however I should collect the picnic and find a suitable place to enjoy it together."
"We have time," Kaeya said quietly, pulling Neuvillette down so their foreheads rest together. "We have time to stay like this a moment longer."
Kaeya felt like he was under some kind of spell. His very being was consumed by thoughts of Neuvillette, feelings that he's never experienced before. He was drowning, and the dragon was his air, his lifeline. His Fontaine trip hadn't been with this intention, but now he wouldn't change it for any amount of mora.
Kaeya tilted his head, pressing their lips together, soft and sweet, just wanting to see how much the Iudex would indulge him before insisting they stick to their plans.
Tidal waves of sensation shorten Neuvillette's senses. Kaeya had become all he wanted to think about. His lips tasted of desire, yes but under it was intrigue and affection. Emotions that hit Neuvillette's core, overwhelming him, lifting him, they were honest, genuine and pure.
Kaeya had completely usurped his thoughts in just a couple of days. How unlikely that a chance stroll to the cafe and completely altered so much in his life. Now he had the Captain all to himself. Celestia tried to destroy all of Khaenri'ah and yet this glorious shining jewel remained. Now his jewel... Mate
Kaeya's teasing kiss made Neuvillette dizzy with need. There was a reason he had started to pull away, it is forgotten with the sweet resonate words whispered throatily in his ear. Yes they had time. He could indulge a little longer. Kissing back into Kaeya driven by the heady mix of emotions and true sweet taste of the Captain's soft lips. He lets his curiosity slide down Kaeya's back caressing softly down to his slim hips.
Feeling curious hands at his waist, over his hips, Kaeya slid an arm around Neuvillette's shoulders, pressing himself up close to the dragon while his other hand took a hold of the front of his clothing.
Blunt teeth nipped gently at soft lips, teasing, gauging a reaction and how far he would be allowed to push. He deepened their kiss slowly, a quiet, pleased noise being muffled by Neuvillette's lips.
Kaeya could feel warmth spreading through his body, slow and saccharine. It started at his very core, deep within his very being. The ring was a heavy weight on his finger; both a reminder of the claim laid to his very existence, and it served to make his desire stronger.
"Neuvillette," he breathed against the dragon's lips, inhaling what air had been stolen from his lungs.
His name sounded like a prayer from Kaeya’s parted sweet lips. His hind mind was reeling. It craved this man intensely.
Neuvillette needed to control himself. Dragons were intense in how they loved, claimed and possessed their mates. He feared hurting him or scaring him.
Parting their lips he takes a shaky breath. “You are a temptation unlike anything I have ever experienced. I fear the intensity of my feelings, my desire to claim and make you mine will scare you.”
Smoothing away a stray wisp of silky midnight blue hair, he touches their foreheads together.
“You are correct, we have time. I’d very much like to take that time to ensure you are comfortable and content.” Stepping away took all his self- control. He wanted to crush their bodies together and bite marks making his claim evident. Unquestionably his mate. He must practice restraint.
He relinquished his hold on Kaeya, offering a warm smile as he let his tail maintain contact with Kaeya’s thigh as he retrieved the picnic basket.
“Let me take care of you today, answer your questions. Put you at ease. I do desire you. I simply wish to slow my instinctive pace. I do not wish to overwhelm you.”
Kaeya was breathing heavily as they parted, eyes blown wide with interest. His heart ached that the Iudex was rejecting his advances this much, but he understood.
"I have faced far worse than a dragon who wants to mate," he said, clearing his throat briefly. "However, I will respect your decision. Just know that... that I really want you. You have been the centre of my thoughts for days now."
Kaeya reeled himself in, patiently waiting for Neuvillette to collect their food and guide him to where they were going to go.
His stomach was still thick with arousal, tongue like cotton from their kiss. He could smell Neuvillette's hair products, drawing him nearer to the dragon, whose scales were shimmering in the daylight.
Neuvillette was so beautiful, Kaeya could just stare at him for hours, basking in his presence. Did Neuvillette have a proper dragon form? Would he ever get to see it? Was being mated to a dragon inclusive of... taking a full dragon?
Shrugging out of his robe and mantle his figure is much more visible. The trousers he favors cling to his legs, long with spats that accentuate the curves with precision.
His tail had not unfurled from wrapping around Kaeya’s thigh. He truly does not want to be out of physical contact with the Captain.
“I assure you my Kaeya.” He looked over his lavender eyes staring directly into Kaeya’s beautiful heterochromatic eyes. Communicating genuine connection, the dragon was truly enamored with Kaeya; it was a singularly unreal experience.
“I feel quite strongly about you. I’m exercising a great deal of self restraint. Part of me wishes to whisk you away to my trinket cave and keep you there.” Blushing, he intertwined his fingers into Kaeya’s.
Kaeya felt himself growing interested in the confines of his own tight pants, aching to worship those legs, with and without the spats. He took a quick moment to adjust himself, knowing that Neuvillette would have noticed.
A gentle, breathy laugh passed his lips as he listened. "Of course you have a trinket cave. You're a dragon. I wouldn't be upset about being a part of your hoard, though."
He paused for a moment, stepping closer to rest his head on Neuvillette's shoulder, lightly squeezing his hand as he breathed in the scent of his bath products.
"I'd like to request you tell me everything you need to tell me, and soon, because Monsieur, I am barely a breath away from talking you into taking me and staking your claim here and now."
Neuvillette stops and blinks at Kaeya staring for a moment. His brain began processing several things at once, his own growing desire, Kaeya’s tented trouser’s, and now these forward overtures.
Cheeks burning crimson flare as he coughs grounding his words. “I- your forward manner is putting my words in the back of my mouth. Let us find a quiet spot to eat. I’ll share all I know. Lay out what I expected or imagined I suppose.”
Pointing to a small copse of pine trees he moves pulling Kaeya along with him. “There I think. This will do nicely.”
Pulling out a blue blanket he sets up various assortments of food, small sandwiches, various fruits and vegetables prepared in various ways all easily eaten with hands. Two high quality blue linen napkins, crystal wine glasses, and a fine vintage of Mondstadt wine.
Sitting here gestures for Kaeya to join him. “Please ask for specifics. It may help unlock what I need to know.”
"This is the fanciest picnic I've ever been on," Kaeya mused, sitting himself down on the blanket, looking around at his surroundings, finding peace in the quiet spot. He presses himself to Neuvillette's side, humming in content.
"Explain to me how your instincts work. We've known each other for such a short time, and yet we share these feelings as if it's been longer," he said, gently touching the scales along the tail still holding onto his thigh.
A contented purr rumbles through Neuvillette’s chest. There was a feeling of security with Kaeya tucked in so close and stroking the scales on his tail. He found he quite enjoyed how affectionate Kaeya was with him.
Every place their bodies touched pulsed with electric current of enticement. Focusing on making a plate of food for Kaeya allows him enough mental break from the overwhelming physical closeness to consider Kaeya’s question.
“I agree that I feel that our shared intimacies have created a bond that feels like it was forged decades ago. I am not an individual that operates this quickly normally.” Making himself a plate quickly he pours themselves each a glass of wine, handing one to Kaeya.
As their hands touch briefly he shivers at the shock of crisp heat that floods his body, adding to the building desire within his psyche.
“I don’t know how much you know about the early times of Teyvat. I should have been reborn as a full dragon. One with a stature much like Apep. Abyssal toxicity is especially brutal to elemental beings. The hydro vishaps were corrupted to the point that there were no pure hydro vishaps left. “ Shifting to get more comfortable, he pulls Kaeya closer with his tail.
“Therefore I had no proper vessel to inhabit. I was forged into a hybrid being. I’ve only started having access to this information after my authority returned to me. My authority to preside over life and the Primordial seas had been stolen from me by Celestia and handed to the hydro archon. Only through her death was it returned to me.” Familiar sadness returns to his eyes, though the skies stay clear.
“This is all to say that my draconic instincts have laid dormant for nearly my entire life. I have lived as near to humans as I could through Lady Furina’s tutelage. It is only recently that I’ve had any real connection to them. I would only stretch my true form once a year on my birthday which I spend with the melusines and in quiet contemplation.” He looks back at Kaeya, suddenly aware he was monopolizing the conversation.
“Apologies, I’ve let my words take over all the quiet spaces again. I seem to have missed the trees for the forest. I’ve explained all this to say that I’m learning about my instincts as we go.”
Kaeya scoffed upon hearing that Celestia had been responsible for his fall to human life.
"It seems like Celestia has a lot to answer for," he commented bitterly, a soft gasp escaping as the tail of the dragon pulled him closer.
Kaeya let his body tuck itself into Neuvillette's side as he drank his wine, the familiar taste of home and family on his tongue.
"If you're learning as you go, then how could you possibly answer questions I have?" The Knight asked. "Surely learning as you go along would entail feeling and doing, not just hoping questions will spark something, no?"
Kaeya couldn't deny the selfish part of him wanting to bed the dragon, wanting to be as close to him as he possibly could, to bond and to mate and to be claimed. Neuvillette saw past the front he put up, past the eyepatch and past his ancestral heritage. Neuvillette saw Kaeya, for all that he was.
“Yes Celestia has taken much and given back very little. I feel personally that their wrath against your city was unnecessarily vindictive.” He touches Kaya’s face looking again into his beautiful jeweled eyes.
“I am quite taken with you. I wished to make our time together special for you. Dragons are vain creatures, possessive and prone to jealousy. I do not want my first time to be a hasty roll under a tree. Instead, I wish to make it a memory that tattoos my countenance over every other experience you’ve ever had. So that I inhabit so far into your psyche that you nearly forget you had ever been with another.” Taking a sip of wine he kisses Kaeya softly tasting wine stained lips.
Pulling the Captain closer Neuvillette lets out a low growl. “Those that disregarded you are fools. Though it has allowed you to make your way to me. It is now my great benefit and privilege to adore all of you.”
Lazily he begins scenting Kaeya’s neck. “I feel that given your position you’ve proven your worth, loyalty and talent to Mondstadt repeatedly. What more would they need from you, my treasure?”
"I've never felt desire in someone as strong as yours is," he hummed, laughing quietly at the feeling of Neuvillette at his neck. He tilted his head aside, allowing the dragon more room to do what he needed to do.
"They need me to lead my team, I'm still one of their best," Kaeya said, humming quietly as Neuvillette brushed over his pulse. "They still need my loyalty to Mond."
“You give it freely. That is what is cherished in Mondstadt correct? Free as the winds that caress the fields.” He cannot help but nip a little at Kaeya’s pulse point.
"Mostly, I suppose," Kaeya hummed in bitter amusement, inhaling sharply at the feeling of sharp teeth. "I willingly remain loyal to my home because it's the Nation my chosen family love, and I'd hate for them to lose it the way my ancestors lost our homeland. But I owe them nothing, I'm bound by duty and loyalty. I'm useful there."
Kaeya was so unused to the bitter feelings that were bubbling in his veins. He loved Mondstadt, he truly did. Neuvillette, though? He brought out something different within him.
Placing an arm over the Captain’s shoulder Neuvillette’s hand massages over Kaeya’s chest enjoying the solid plane of muscle under the friction of soft fabric.
“My desire will only grow the longer we are together. That much I’m aware of. There is an intensity that not everyone can stomach. I do hope it’s not too much for you.”
"I'm not afraid or intimidated by it, Neuvillette. I want it as much as you do," the Knight told him, lifting his arm to place a kiss and a gentle nip on the inside of his wrist.
"My Knight I sense great uneasiness in you. Please let me in. I wish to know what it is that ails you." Tenderly he kisses Kaeya's forehead. "The way you speak just now it was laced with something darker." his rhinophores perk up as if tasting the air. "I cannot quite place it."
Kaeya sighed gently. "It's... complicated, Neuvillette. I don't want to ruin our time together."
The Knight pressed another kiss to the dragon's wrist. "There's just... a lot of sour feelings between the Knights and my family, it's old wounds that have stretched for years now."
"There is something I hope you will come to understand Kaeya. Part of being loved by a dragon is that they will accept you wholely. All parts of you. I will come to feel as though these pains are mine. Your fights and struggles are mine." A large part of him wanted Kaeya to understand that any part of him he shared couldn't destroy the day. Those soft lips pressed against his wrist sends shivers through him.
"You do not have to worry about ruining our day together. Understanding more about you can only deepen what is already here. I would desire to celebrate the deepened intimacy and reward you for trusting me with it. I doubt at this point you can scare me away Kaeya."
Kaeya took a deep breath. He hadn't spoken about any of this in years, not even to Albedo. To open up to someone he barely knew in a whole other Nation was anxiety inducing.
Neuvillette wouldn't judge him though, would he? He'd comfort him, and love him in a way no one else ever has.
"Mondstadt, when I was a young man, had dealings with the Fatui. Specifically the Second Harbinger. It was all for business, among other things.
To make sure Mond was indebted to the Fatui, he released Ursa the Drake into the Nation, and the city was attacked. He showed up with intent to save us so we'd owe him, but my adoptive father had other ideas and went out with the knights to deal with it himself. He didn't have a vision, and he wasn't a Knight. But somehow, he'd gotten hold of a delusion."
He paused for a moment, fists clenching with anger and hurt.
"It backfired, and the injury was too severe to treat. My brother... put him to sleep to save him the pain. I got there too late. I am still often blamed for some of it. And to this day, the Favonius Knights cover up his death like it was a big accident. My brother left the knights and disappeared for four years. When he finally returned, I'd been promoted to his old position, and it was like nothing had happened."
Pulling the Knight closer he kisses Kaeya's forehead. "Why are you to blame for the second's depraved behavior? How are you to blame for your adoptive father's desire to protect his country?"
With a furrowed brow he simply holds Kaeya close. "I feel this is the part of the story where your brother not only cut you out but nearly killed you. You must have been young at the time. Is that not something that is taken into account?"
"I wasn't nearby, I was dealing with... other issues, so it was thought that I was the one who allowed the Fatui to do what they did. Some who saw me as nothing but an outcast as the adopted son always thought me just as depraved as the Harbinger." He scoffed. "I would never do that, I loved my father. He raised me like I was always his, and he never made me feel inferior."
He sighed quietly, nodding against Neuvillette's side. "Yes, it was that night that he almost killed me and I was granted my vision. We were eighteen. It was his eighteenth birthday. When being accused of a crime, age is not taken into account unless it is an impossible age to act at. I was deemed of age. Nothing ever came of the investigation, no one could prove I had anything to do with it, but there's still some shadows that follow us to this day."
"I am so sorry, it was a tragedy all the way around. You were both young in an incredibly charged emotional situation. Maybe someday you will share what other things kept you from helping your father. The point is you and your brother both lost an important person you loved that day. You were grieving as well." He kisses the Knight sweetly, deeply conveying acceptance, compassion, and love.
"A loss like this is hard enough without all the added complications. Why would I judge you for any of this? I, too, have always been considered an outsider. While Fontaine is my home, I am not human and that is well known. In order to maintain an impartial view I have never let anyone close to me. You are the first to know me like this." Kissing his Knight once more he wishes to communicate just how special, unique and wonderful he is. He pulls away to look at Kaeya's beautiful face and jeweled eyes.
"It is commendable that you went on to take a position to defend people who never accepted you. I find you extraordinary Kaeya. You continue to throw your heart at those that never reciprocated. I will never let your heart fall on the floor unwanted. It is mine now and I will keep it safe, protected, you are mine now."
The hind mind screams, his dragon side wants to claim Kaeya then and there, fighting with himself he settles for crushing the Knight into his arms kissing him deeply. His tongue pushing into parted lips forked thick as he tasted Kaeya's delicious mouth. His arms were a vice grip pulling Kaeya as close as he could, their chests seamlessly touching no air can pass. The dragon wants and it takes.

Chapter 8: Quelling the Dragon
Summary:
"Neuvillette, please. I don't want to be alone," he said quietly, his voice cracking. He dived back in for another kiss, clinging to the dragon as the kiss became more teeth and tongue than anything else. In just a few short days, the dragon he had intended to bed for a night had become the centre of his thoughts, of his world. Showering him in kindness and love and being so, so patient with him. His mind was made up already, no matter how long he was made to wait. His heart belonged to Neuvillette now.
Neuvillette deepens the kiss further. His mind stops trying to be careful with his fangs, nicking Kaeya's lip, the sweet taste of his blood trickles onto Neuvillette's tongue. It surges with need, desire, need and burgeoning connection. He wants to fill Kaeya with only him. Cleanse all the hurt and pain away with his touch. He pulls Kaeya onto his lap, searing heat pulsed in waves outward from his core. He can feel his cocks begin to shift tentatively pushing out of his vent.

Chapter Text
Kaeya felt the familiar sting of unshed tears in his eyes as Neuvillette showered him in nothing but kind words and affection.
I don't deserve this. I'm a monster, an outsider. I'm what they always said I am.
The press of a cool body against his and a long tongue taking control was enough to pull Kaeya away from those old thoughts, moaning and whimpering into the kiss.
There are so many sensations bombarding him at once, it feels as though his skin cannot contain him. His glimmering scaled blue clawed fingers clutch at Kaeya's shoulders, searching for an anchor. Kaeya's solid body feels hard and real against him. Sinking further into these sensations his tail wraps around Kaeya's round perfect ass keeping him on his lap sheltering them in this perfect moment.
The moment Kaeya is straddling the dragon's lap, a tear escapes his eye and he's pressing himself impossibly close to the other, almost like he was trying to become a part of his very being.
The tail around his body and the way Neuvillette held him had Kaeya melting into that touch, his mind blanking of all negative thoughts and memories as he found safety and solace in his lover. He slid a hand up into soft, silky hair, blunt nails scratching at Neuvillette's scalp while his other hand held onto the front of his shirt.
Neuvillette tasted salt, pain, rejection, sadness, self deprecation, and all Kaeya's pain laid out in that tear. He licks up the singular tear, holding that pain for Kaeya. "Your pain is mine now." he whispered, panting to catch his breath. He kissed away each tear that fell from those bewitching jeweled eyes. "You are and always have been so much more than anyone ever opened their eyes to see. I see you, my Knight."
His pulse raced, he wanted more. He wanted to devour Kaeya whole, keep him safe and keep him close. His forked tongue sought more of Kaeya's unique taste. The scent that was his, the bite of frost, mixed with Calla lilies and something sweet, a forgotten decadence. His tongue traced down Kaeya's neck. His taste was something Neuvillette did not think he could ever tire of. He craved more.
"Neuvillette, please," he breathed, shuddering as the air around them cooled the trail Neuvillette left on his neck. His cock was hard, twitching in his pants. He could feel Neuvillette, too. He didn't have the capacity in that moment to take in that there were two.
A new kind of warmth spread over his body, lust and desire and want and need and love. Safety and stability. A promise. An unbreakable vow of loyalty.
With a fistful of white hair, Kaeya pulled Neuvillette back to him for a kiss, pouring everything he could into it to promise his loyalty to the dragon.
Purring deeply Neuvillette loses himself in Kaeya's warm mouth. He feels how much the man desires him as Kaeya's cock grows in interest. His own desire felt like a conflagration overtaking his mental cognition. All he could think, feel, see, taste, and smell was Kaeya.
Hot molten need pooled in his stomach, he had never felt such an overwhelming draw to anyone. His own trousers became tighter and tighter as the dual occupancy of his twin cocks emerged further.
Growling he felt his claws itch wanting to rip through the layers of Kaeya's clothing. He realizes he is seconds away from losing himself completely to his baser instincts.
"Kaeya" he panted trying to string together words. "I desire you so much. I am moments away from losing myself. My claws are aching to rip through your clothing, lay you bare and own you here and now. I wished to make you feel loved, adored. Adorn you in silks and finery, worship you bodily as you deserve. If I take you in the way I mean to, there will be nothing left of your clothing, I have nothing here to re-dress you with."
"Then allow me just a moment to undress for you," Kaeya panted into their kiss, grinding his hips down. "Let me bare myself to you, Neuvillette, my dragon. The finery can come later, I want to feel you at your most instinctual."
The Knight wriggled, putting a little bit of space between them so he could start pulling at his clothing, desperate to get it off, wanting his lover to see every blemish and scar over his tanned skin, craving the same acceptance that he was given with his golden eye.
"How will you take me, Neuvillette? Tell me what your instincts desire," he requested.
Neuvillette's eyes begin to glow, lust pools in their depths. Perfectly still he watches every movement Kaeya makes, as a predator would stalk their prey. Only his eyes track the planes of Kaeya's body as more and more of his skin is exposed. Rhinophores glow and begin to move sensing the air.
Finally he leans forward, taking a deep breath. Kaeya's presence overwhelmed the dragon. He wanted every part of him. He knew that as soon as he moved into Kaeya's personal space he would not stop until he had claimed him in every way he could. He stared in reverent awe until Kaeya was completely bare.
"Beautiful, you are more exquisite than the rarest jewel in my collection. Mating with a dragon is about intensity, my Knight. My fangs hunger to bite, to draw blood and mark to make you mine. When I bite you here." He dusts his fingers where the shoulder meets the neck, watching a shiver run down his potential mate.
"That tells all other potential suitors you are taken. I wish for you to see as well. As fully as I can in my hybrid form and still comfortably be with you." Watching Kaeya's reaction closely he removes his cravat, unbuttons his cuffs and shirt shrugging out of it. Baring his scale flecked chest. The spats have always been a ridiculous vanity, he has come to be able to undo them fairly quickly after the number of years he has worn them. He breathes out as soon as he can drop his tight trousers and release both of his now hard aching cocks. Sparkling iridescent scales gather on Neuvillette's shoulders, thighs, abdomen, hands, feet and neck.
"I simply know that I crave you with an unprecedented need Kaeya and once I gather you into my arms I will not be letting go until I am completely satisfied deeply and thoroughly."
Kaeya inhaled deeply as Neuvillette got closer to him, a shiver rolling down his spine the more he bared his body to the other. Once all of his clothes were in a pile beside them, he stayed where he was, still and anticipating what the dragon would do.
The knight watches as pale skin comes into view, speckled with shimmering scales of iridescent colour. He gasped quietly, not knowing where to look first as he took everything in. This beautiful being wanted to take him for a mate?
He almost choked on his own inhalation of air when two cocks sprang free. He'd been right in what he felt, and they were so, so big. He ached to feel them inside him, desperate to know how it would feel to be impaled on them.
"I don't want to be released," he said quietly, eyes still roaming in awe. "Own me, Neuvillette. My loyalty will always belong to you." He paused, unable to pull himself together properly. "Shit, you have two."
"I am a dragon, Kaeya, though technically one is an ovipositor, to ensure the continuation of my species. Until it is time for my yearly cycle, it functions in much the same way."
He sees the others' surprise and awe. "You need not worry, I am not a brute, I would not be so uncontrollable that I hurt you. I'm a great deal stronger than you, please, I wish to know how to please you and not harm you."
Unable to stay away any longer he steps into Kaeya's space. Heated, lavender eyes filled with pools of lust take in every inch of sun-kissed skin. Their skin barely grazed against one another. "You are extraordinarily beautiful Kaeya. Tell me how to honor your beauty."
"An ovi- oh. Oh my-" he mumbles, feeling his heart stuttering in his chest. His mind began to race with all the possibilities as he closed the miniscule distance between them, finding Neuvillette's skin much cooler than his.
"I trust you, Neuvillette, it's okay," he assures the dragon, smiling pleasantly. He threads one hand back into soft white hair, while his other begins to gently explore tracing scales and bare flesh, wanting to learn and memorise every single detail.
"I don't know, I'm not usually on the receiving end," he chuckles, leaning close, their lips just a breath apart. "I suppose you'll have to find out, won't you, Monsieur?"
Neuvillette feels the dam holding back his desire break. Carnality was not something he was familiar with, though he would trust Kaeya to guide him. Letting instinct guide him he closes the gap between their mouths crushing their lips together. He needs to taste his Knight again, whose taste was becoming a highly favored experience.
Licking down Kaeya's neck he hums enjoying the heady mix of lust, anticipation, desire and affection rolling from Kaeya. He wanted to taste every inch of this man. He allowed his clawed fingers to rake over Kaeya's sensitive nipples, relishing the shivered moan that Kaeya releases.
"Mine. You are mine Kaeya. Your taste is divine. I desire all of you."
Kaeya moans to every sensation, every touch. Dragons could be such dangerous beings, and yet Neuvillette's claws only aimed to tease him, his kisses stealing the very breath from his lungs.
"I give myself to you, Neuvillette. All of me," he responded, pulling him into another breath-taking kiss, licking into his mouth, careful to avoid catching his tongue on sharp teeth.
The arousal rolling through him in waves was unlike anything he'd ever experienced before. He felt hot, almost too hot, and Neuvillette's body was the perfect counterbalance, pressing firm against him, smooth scales scratching at his scarred skin.
Kissing back into Kaeya he welcomes the knight’s questing tongue. His inner dragon craves, letting his instincts take over he sinks his clawed fingers into Kaeya’s well formed ass. Lifting him up as if he weighed nothing.
The heat of Kaeya’s skin feels decadent, further enticing long buried instincts to the surface.
Spreading Kaeya’s gorgeous round ass cheeks wide, he slathers hydro over the end of his tail as it spears smoothly into Kaeya’s waiting hole.
Neuvillette feels the heat from Kaeya’s insides squeeze his exploring prehensile tail. He swallows the knight’s moan as he licks deeper into Kaeya’s open receptive mouth, eager to taste more of his lover.
Kaeya made a surprised noise when he was lifted, grabbing hold of Neuvillette's shoulders as the kiss broke, his heterochrome eyes meeting Neuvillette's glowing lavender ones. There was something hungry in those eyes. This was more dragon than man, and it sent a ripple of excitement through his body.
His mouth gradually dropped open as his ass was stretched open. He'd been fucked before, but never like this. This was something entirely different.
"Neuvillette-" he breathed, leaning back down for another kiss, this one messier and more needy than before.
As his tail starts fucking earnestly into Kaeya. Lavender eyes glow brighter as desire grows in intensity. Neuvillette has never felt so alive before. He craves only Kaeya, all thoughts come back to taking and claiming his treasured Knight. Pulling away from the kiss he possessively bites into Kaeya's full lip just hard enough to draw blood. A long, thick, forked tongue licks the crimson divine liquid off quivering lips.
"Mine. You. Are. Mine." These words rumble with authority, growled from deeper in Neuvillette's sound register. His rhinophores glow brighter, as Neuvillette's fangs grow longer. Bite, he wants to bite Kaeya's neck, needs to claim him now. Simultaneously as the tip of his clever tail finds the hidden trove of bundled nerves, Neuvillette bites into Kaeya's shoulder, piercing the skin.
Kaeya's mind blanks as he wails, clinging to the dragon with his head thrown back. He could taste his own blood from the tease of the bite to his lip, and then there was a burning pain in his shoulder that after a few moments melted away into something warm, something blissful, leaving his mind floating and his cock leaking.
The combination of the sensations were overwhelming, but oh how good it felt. Neuvillette's tail was stretching him in the most delicious way, the firm and possessive grip on his body was setting every nerve ending on fire. As his mind started to focus back in, he felt drunk, like he'd had too much to drink at the tavern back home.
"I am yours," he said, his words slurred, the dizzying pleasure rolling through him in waves. He kept a hand on Neuvillette's shoulder while sliding the other between them, taking hold of his cock and one of Neuvillette's, stroking them together with a long, drawn out moan.
Licking at the wound on Kaeya's shoulder, a low rumble of need echoes through his chest. Kaeya's touch radiates pulses of pleasure through him. Ecstatic nodules of intensity explode fractally through his psyche.
"I must have you now." His voice thick with desire, he continues lavishing Kaeya's neck with the flat of his thick tongue. Behind them a large tree catches Neuvillette's attention. He wants the solid surface to pin Kaeya against. He needs to feel himself inside the Knight now.
Moving with alacrity, he's pinned his pleasure dazed mate between his craving body and the thick tree trunk. Using his tongue to demand more of Kaeya's taste, he delves once more into a messy, needy kiss. Keeping Kaeya aloft with one arm his free hand once again generously applies hydro to the cock not enjoying Kaeya's attentive strokes and he replaces his tail with his cock.
Slowly he pushes into Kaeya's willing supple heat, watching every micro movement Kaeya makes..
A second startled noise tumbled from between Kaeya's lips as his back was pressed firmly to the tree. Neuvillette's words sent a shudder along his spine and he nodded eagerly, words lost to him momentarily.
Kaeya wasn't usually one to let a plan fall apart, but to have a dragon's cock sliding inside him was the best failed plan he'd ever made. Even with the preparation from his tail, Kaeya could feel every inch sliding into his body, making him moan out, staring at the creature in a daze. His mind was gone, fuzzy and warm and filled with naught but Neuvillette.
Blood. There was blood in Neuvillette's mouth. His blood, from the bite on his shoulder that was pulsing, throbbing, reminding him that he'd just been claimed. A dragon's treasure, a precious jewel. Terms Neuvillette would use to describe him. His stomach twisted tightly with glee, a sense of calm and belonging overcoming him.
"Neuv- Neuvillette-" he groaned, still messily stroking their leaking cocks, feeling an intense orgasm creeping under his skin.
Feeling the moment he is fully seated inside Kaeya an overwhelming cataclysmic shift in his reality happened. He was utterly lost for eternity to those bewitching Khanri'an eyes. There was none other than his Jewel, his Treasure, Kaeya would be his Future, his Forever.
As that realization crystalized, he pulled out slowly, suddenly a guttural roar echoed as Neuvillette's hips snapped fully. Nothing had prepared him for the intensity of his need to claim and keep Kaeya. He fucked back into Kaeya in concert with the knight's stroking pace. Holding Kaeya with crazed reverence he shudders as waves of exquisite torturous pleasure course through him. It builds into a heavy molten ball, set in his abdomen bordering on the edge of sweet orgasmic oblivion.
His pace began to falter as zaps of electric pleasure shot up his spine, pulling gasps and groans repeatedly from him. He was intensely close now, so much that he could taste it at the tip of his tongue.
Taste. He could still taste the coppery twang of his own blood where he'd shared a kiss with his lover, his mate. Less than a week after getting to know this man and they were mated, yet Kaeya had never felt so certain or so whole.
Another call of his name was punched from his mouth as the cock inside him found the bundle of nerves with near perfect accuracy. Kaeya let his head dip forward, mouthing kisses over pale skin and shimmering scales. His teeth were blunt and very human, but nonetheless, he could bite a deep bruise into the dragon's body. He picked the spot that approximately matched his aching bite, and he latched on, biting and sucking the flesh to mark his own claim.
"Kaeya!" Neuvillette roars as he bites down on the same mark he's made earlier. The combination of Kaeya's blunt teeth against his skin and the knight’s tight hole squeezing his throbbing cock, pushes him over the precipice into an intense orgasm.
He feels spurts of hot cum pulse continually for several long intense seconds as he rides pleasure after pleasure.
Kaeya felt the throbbing and pulsing of three cocks and it put him in a spin. One was filling his insides, the other adding to his own mess in his hand.
He was yelling, he could hear himself yelling as his forehead rested against the shoulder he'd just been biting a bruise into. The throbbing in his wounded shoulder was practically numb compared to the overwhelming ecstasy he felt throughout his whole body.
He was certain everything had gone black for a moment. When he blinked and slowly lifted his head, his eyes were glazed over with every emotion he could feel in his chest.
Neuvillette’s entire body sang a benediction in praise of Kaeya. Never before had he felt such extreme pleasure followed by such extreme peace. Emotions flood him, a mix of his and Kaeya’s it seemed their shared intimacy had unlocked a deeper bond.
Sliding out carefully he used his remarkable control over hydro to clean them both and whisk away the access water. Scooping Kaeya up he returns them back to the picnic blanket and sits with his mate on his lap held closely as he would any rare treasure.
“My Kaeya” he breathes out softly, starting to sooth himself by scenting his mate. “You are extraordinary. I fear my dragon nature overrode my sensibilities. Please tell me if I was too much.’
The knight starts to make quiet, satisfied noises through the process of being scented, boneless and peaceful in his mate's arms. He'd had some good sex in his life, but nothing had ever been that intense or that incredible.
His long hair was slightly dishevelled, his skin decorated with marks and bites of possession that were, though few, very obvious. Neuvillette hadn't been trying to hide anything from others who might spot the bruises left by sharp teeth or the marks of a firm hand.
When he started to come around a little more, a quiet moan passed his lips as he nuzzled himself to Neuvillette's neck, mimicking the actions of his dragon.
"N'villette," he mumbled, kissing sweetly between movements.
Neuvillette holds Kaeya closely enjoying this soft moment after nearly as much as the primal act they had just finished. Kissing him softly, tenderly petting through his soft hair he marvels at the man’s beauty. Waiting patiently for coherence to return to his mate he watches Kaeya’s expression in love-drugged heterochromatic eyes carefully.
“How are you feeling, my jewel?”
"I feel wonderful," he said softly, voice a little rough from the loud cries he was certain came from him.
He could feel an ache in his body, but it wasn't unpleasant. Instead, it kept his mind floating, basking in the afterglow of being mated.
"I'm sorry I can't return the bite," he mumbled, lifting a hand to carefully touch the wound, feeling the blood had already stopped flowing.
Starting to scent Kaeya’s neck again he scoops together flowing locks of midnight blue hair. Soothingly he runs clawed fingers that glitter blue in the afternoon sun.
“I’m quite satisfied. Your bite felt wonderful nonetheless. I’ve chosen you knowing you are not a dragon my jewel. I’ll not hold that against you.”
He re-braids Kaeya’s hair, tying it off with the golden ribbon once again.
“You are so beautiful.” Having Kaeya on his lap, he cannot help but trace various scars over golden hued skin. The man was an eternal temptation.
"But is the bond not incomplete if it's only one-sided?" he asked worriedly. He didn't want to disappoint Neuvillette, or hold him back because the bond was only one-sided.
He hummed quietly, relaxing into the gentle movement of his hair being braided neatly. He'd forgotten how much he enjoyed others touching his hair sometimes. It was relaxing and peaceful.
Goosebumps raised on Kaeya's skin with each scar that was touched and caressed, bringing the memories of how he got each of them to his mind. He settled against Neuvillette comfortably, and without even thinking about it, he was relaying where each one came from.
"That's from a Hillichurl." A long scar on his left arm.
"Ah, that was a cat in the Cats Tail Tavern back home." A small scar on his right hand.
"That was from a rather nasty fall out on patrol a few years back." A thick scar on his left shoulder, stretching down to a bit above his shoulder blade.
The one that would always burn his memory the most was the barely visible one over his Khaenri'ahn eye from the night Diluc nearly took his life. His eyepatch did more than just hide his golden eye, it hid the scar, too. It hid the memory.
Kissing each scar he reaches out with his mind wondering if a light bond had formed. Something tells him it’s possible. He feels Kaeya’s deep relaxation with spikes of worry, insecurity.
“My Kaeya, you have nothing to worry about. Our bond is unique. Please relax and still your mind. You will be able to sense my emotions within yourself. That’s our burgeoning bond. It won’t be exactly the same as two dragons. But it’s not incomplete. Your intentions rang true. Your feelings and mine coalesced together and have created a mating bond which will steadily grow as we do. That’s what my instincts are saying at least.”
Kaeya felt a presence in his head, like a shadow almost. There was no threat, only curiosity and love. Neuvillette.
Interested to see what would happen, Kaeya pushed back at it as he trailed his fingertips over Neuvillette's chest, feeling contentment and possession, and also reassurance. Neuvillette was right, it seemed to have worked.
"It's very strange to literally feel someone else's emotions and feelings," Kaeya said quietly, focusing on the feeling so he could identify what Neuvillette was showing him.
Neuvillette purrs quietly contentedly. “I agree, it is just as reassuring to me. Please my darling Kaeya put your mind at ease.” He kisses the corner of Kaeya’s golden eye.
“I adore you. These feelings are larger than my own body. I’m grateful to have yours to share them with. Let me dress you, take care of you.”
With adoration deeply pouring from their bond Neuvillette dresses Kaeya helping still relaxed limbs into arm holes and pant legs.
Usually, Kaeya isn't one for this level of pampering after sex. He'll take care of his bedmates, of course, he'll make sure they're hydrated and warm enough and even fed if they wish, but he doesn't often enjoy this kind of treatment.
Everything was so different with Neuvillette. Every single movement and touch of clawed hand to scarred skin was like a ritual almost, like he was handling the most delicate artifact known to Teyvat in his very hands. And this time was so, so much different to the other times Neuvillette had done something to care for him, because this time, he could feel the love and the care going into every movement.
Once dressed, Kaeya settled where he was put to sit, smiling warmly, still stuck in the post-mating daze he could feel.
Neuvillette smiles down at Kaeya feeling how full of bliss and fuzzy thoughts his mate's head is. "Please rest, my love. I will get myself together." He hands Kaeya some water and a little fruit. "Drink, eat a little, you need to ground yourself again."
Efficiently he gets himself dressed, making sure that Kaeya actually drinks a little more and breathes a little easier as he senses the man feels more settled in his thoughts. He comes over kissing him once more softly. "How are you feeling, my jewel?"
Kaeya watched as Neuvillette got himself straightened out again, looking much more put together once again when he rejoined him on their blanket, taking a drink of water for himself.
"I feel happy," the knight responded, shuffling over so he could tuck himself into Neuvillette's side. "I feel... good. Cared for."
The knight did his best to let Neuvillette feel what he was feeling through their new bond, unable to really describe the intense things he was feeling.
Gently caressing Kaeya's face he looks into those perfect, thoughtful, eyes. He feels Kaeya's devotion, gratitude, love, peacefulness, and something settled, a feeling of homecoming. It stirs Neuvillette deeply. To be able to provide something so needed and dear to the knight.
"Thank you for making this experience so incredibly special for me, my love. I am beginning to understand why so many crimes are committed around people's passions for the others they love. It was a piece that was missing." Bringing Kaeya's wrist up to his mouth he scents the Captain's wrist while keeping his eyes on his treasured companion.
"I find myself feeling quite an attachment to you. I am reluctant to let you out of my sight. I realize this may be an intensity you are not used to. My heart feels several times larger, and filled with you."
Kaeya makes a quiet noise, his arm remaining relaxed as Neuvillette satisfies his own instinctual urges.
"I hope you're not going to start committing crimes for me, Iudex," the knight teased gently. "I could only imagine the headlines in the papers, they'd be scandalous."
"Perhaps you are worth scandalizing an entire nation my mate." he chuckles. "I feel I have chosen quite well. You are, in a word, perfect." He nips at Kaeya's wrist as he continues to think.
The Knight was content to lay against Neuvillette's side, slowly eating through some of the juiciest fruit he'd ever been given while Neuvillette scented him, though he could already smell their combined scents through the shampoo and the perfumes they chose to use. The smell of sex also surrounded them, leaving a warm feeling settled in Kaeya's stomach. The warmth this time was peaceful, though, rather than arousing. It was comfortable.
"Be careful, Monsieur, or Mondstadt may not feel like home anymore by the time I return," he chuckles, feeling a pang of sadness zip through him momentarily at the idea of having to be so far away from his mate. "I... don't think I mind how intense you are, Neuvillette. It's not a level of feeling I've experienced from someone before, and I thought I'd be overwhelmed, but I find myself quite comfortable and at home with the feeling."
"For me now, my home will be wherever your heart travels. While I have a duty to Fontaine, I have always been a little bit of an outsider. I cannot say I have ever called it home." Feeling Kaeya so pliantly laying against him relying on his strength was dragon nip. Kaeya was the perfect mate. Loyal, generous, strong, bright, thoughtful, and caring, these qualities made him an impressive mate. His mate.
"Are you ready for the rest of our outing? I do not want my melusines worrying thinking we were taken out by the wilderness." he smiles and his eyes widen as he remembers something. "My mate, would it be forward to request you spend the remainder of your time in Fontaine in my nest?" deep crimson tips his ears as he hides heated cheeks behind Kaeya's wrist still scenting it.
Kaeya laughs, his cheeks seeming to permanently be tinted with a blush when Neuvillette speaks to him. "I'm far from perfect, love."
Sitting up for a moment, Kaeya takes Neuvillette's other hand into his, shyly copying his actions. He couldn't scent, of course, he was human. He could copy the actions, though, hoping that it would make his dragon happy. So far, it seemed to work in his favour.
"We'd of course have to collect my belongings from the Hotel Deboard, and I'd need to settle my bill with them for the time I've spent," Kaeya said, heart fluttering in his chest. "I'd... really like to spend the rest of my stay with you, Neuvillette. If you'll have me in your home."
He pressed a loving kiss and a playful bite to the soft, thin flesh of Neuvillette's inner wrist before lowering his hand down. "I am ready to get going when you are, Monsieur, I don't want to worry the melusines. Sedene is already quite busy without the others reporting us missing."
Notes:
Thank you for your support! Now there is nothing like meeting the family and Neuvillette has a whole village of daughters eager to meet his brand new mate. Oh Kaeya what have you flirted yourself into?

Kaeya gets himself into some wild situations when he thinks with his dick, man. But I'm sure he'll find it thoroughly worth it.
