Summary:

Congratulations, you are now engaged to the most powerful underworld leader of all of Japan!

Due to you being tied with the Yakuza family yourself, you agree to the arranged marriage. However,
your fiancé was described to be a cunning, intelligent and devious person. The kind of person you want very little to do with, especially when it came to romance. Scared for your own life, you tried your best to put up with this male who might as well be the devil himself.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

You were bored.

Truly, utterly, beyond bored.

With another lofty sigh, your eyes flickered across the large room and noticed your dad talking to other people in the Yakuza, while here you were, left sitting alone at the white round table as hundreds of other bodies mingled around under the crystal chandelier. None of them spared you a glance, seeing as they were all too busy to notice you. Even your own father.

Why does your dad make you perform at these silly parties? Ah, that's right, because to him, you were just a tool he used whenever he needed to make himself look good. And today was just one of those days, unfortunately.

Nevertheless, you kept from showing your boredom on your face and waited patiently before you had to go up and play the piano. Even though you didn't want to be here, you still wish someone would come up a strike up a conversation with you... actually, scratch that. The majority of the people here are mostly over a decade older than you. What kind of conversation would you have with these people? Nothing, that's what.

There wasn't anyone here you knew to reduce the boredom. Not even a person your age-

Oh! You spoke too soon. While scanning the area, you spotted a male sitting alone just a few tables down. A young and attractive male in fact. Like you, he seemed to be bored. Except, it was more obvious from the way he was sitting. He was tilting his chair back, his mercury orbs were dully staring straight up to the ceiling, hands were in his pockets. The way he was sitting just told you that he didn't give a shit about anything. One of his features that stood out to you was his short red hair. It was also a beautiful shade of red in fact.

How come you didn't notice him sooner? Did he arrive late? What family is he from?

The longer you looked at him, the more questions you kept asking yourself, and your boredom had subdued as well. When you had the urge to go up and chat with him, you saw his eyes lazily roll over to your direction as if having the feeling someone was looking at him.

In one swift motion, you turn your head in the opposite direction, with your ruby red earrings that dangled down your ears, and smacked your cheek in the process.

'That was embarrassing,'

You blushed. He probably thinks you're a creep now. And that guy was a total hottie, no less! That makes it ten times worse! Well, so much for going up and talking to him.

Still feeling flushed, you did not attempt to move and kept your lips pressed together and your hands firmly on your lap. The only thing you could do was internally beg that he would just forget about you.

Is he even looking at you? You didn't want to check.

"(Y/n), it's almost time for you to perform." You heard your father's voice. Flinching, you snapped your direction to where he is. You saw your dad, hovering near you, and looking at you with very little affection.

"Ah, right." You said, before your chair back, and standing up. Smoothing out your long black dress and heading in the direction of the stage, which is luckily not in the same direction as that redhead was.

In the back of your mind, you were hoping to find him after your performance to engage in a chat with him. However, when you finished, he was nowhere to be seen.

-😈-

(Two months later...)

Without missing a note, your fingers kept playing the piano accordingly. For the whole time, your fingers never left the black and white keys. The notes you played created beautiful music, and it filled up the empty room.

"Finally found a fiance for you."

You held onto the notes longer than they should have when a memory resurfaces in your mind, but continued to play the song. You wanted to play for yourself as a means to help you forget the conversation you had with your father yesterday. You just... wanted to forget the dilemma you were in just for the time being.

"Everything has all been arranged."

Your jaws clenched.

"Oh... Okay."

You remember saying that and looking composed on the outside, but on the inside, you were completely dreading the fact that someone agreed to marry you. For about a year now, your dad has been finding a fiancé for you. By looking through other Yakuza family members. He had been picky with his choice. It couldn't be just anyone. It had to be someone who has power and more money than your family.

The main reason behind this because your family has become smaller over the years, and not to mention your dad is losing money. And he figured one of the best ways to prevent from becoming any less of a name was to marry you off to someone as if it was a way to form a permanent alliance.

Did you have a say in this? No.

You knew it was coming. But you didn't think it'd be so soon. And to add the cherry on top, your father said more things that you never agreed to.

"You'll start living with him starting next week."

You completely stopped playing altogether.

Alright, it was bad enough that you're forced to be engaged to someone (who you haven't even met) but to actually live with them?! The worst part is, that your dad wasn't at all fazed by this. You, a young woman living with another man?!

However, you said nothing to your dad. You couldn't. You already accepted a while ago that you can never be in those fairy-tale like relationships you longed for, so what's the point of even trying to find a good man? Another reason why you accepted without fighting back was that... well, whether you liked it or not, you are blood-related to your dad, who is indeed a Yakuza boss, and they don't take kindly to the word 'no' even though you were his only daughter.

Your (e/c) orbs stared dully at the black and white keys. Fingers no longer on the surface, but on your lap.

Once again, you were reminded that you were just a tool your father uses whenever he needed you. It's always been like this. So you shouldn't really be surprised.

Slowly, you lifted your hands and placed them on the keys and began to play slowly once again. You were hoping the blissful sound would wash away the anxious and worried feeling that was inside you.

You can only let your imagination run wild. You have never met this person you are betrothed to. You don't have a name, and you didn't even know what he looks like. All you know is that he seems to be a very powerful Yakuza boss. Your dad stressed that enough as he could, meaning you were going to have to be on your best behaviour and use every manner in the dictionary. And because he was so powerful, your father settled with this guy only for his advantage.

Your stomach began to churn at the thought.

What kind of person was he, though?

-😈-

"HUH?! Say that again!"

"You bastard!!"

"I'll kill you!!!"

The scene was total chaos. Punches and kicks were being thrown, the items that belonged in the lobby were shattered due to the shambles. As all this was happening, there was one person who didn't join in the turmoil. On the second floor, Karma Akabane stood there and watched the whole thing from up high so he could look down on all of them, merely thinking of them as mere insects compared to a powerful Yakuza boss such as himself.

He held a devilish smirk on his face for the entire time and took a few sips of his glass of strawberry milk. It kept him entertained by how these brainless idiots were able to get into a fight so easily from his provocative words that made them all go against each other.

The Yakuza boss laughed in amusement when one of them was flipped over. It looked like this was gonna go on for a while. Not that he minded. And if he wanted to end this, all it was gonna take was a few warning shots into the air.

Oh, whatever, he was never interested in working with this family anyway. They provided no use for him and or his family, and he was planning on hiring someone to erratic this Yakuza family once and for all.

Why did he even start this fight in the first place?

... Well, he was just simply bored.
