whatever it takes to get you to stay

Summary:

Antinous is about to leave the palace, but Telemachus has a proposal to keep him around, closer to Telemachus than ever before...

Work Text:

Antinous was leaving the palace. He had withdrawn his suit to Penelope, and now he had no reason to stay. So of course he was going home, unless Telemachus did something about it right now.

So he was going to do something about it!

“WAIT!”

Telemachus caught up to Antinous, panting and catching his breath for a few moments as Antinous just watched him with a slightly amused look on his face. Telemachus would have hit him if he wasn’t trying to get Antinous to stay.

“Stay. Here in the palace. Become my guard. You can become my royal bodyguard and you can stay. I won’t let anything happen to you. You’ll be safe, even when my father returns. I won’t let him touch you.”

Antinous raised an eyebrow, definitely entertained by the prince’s antics. It was all rather enjoyable, watching the prince pretty much beg for him to stay.

“And what do I gain by being your employee? What exactly would my duties be, little wolf?”

Oh, that nickname. It had driven Telemachus up the wall when Antinous first insisted on using it every time he referred to Telemachus, but now it had become more of an affectionate thing between the two of them. At least if he was using that name, it meant there was no animosity between them, or at least Telemachus hoped that was the case.

“Well, you stop me from getting hurt by anyone.”

“I’ve got my work cut out for me already, and we’re only on the first of my assignments.”

Telemachus sent him a glare, which Antinous responded to with a smirk and a wink. This man was going to be the death of him, he was certain of it.

“I suppose you’ll have to stay with me at all times, to make sure I’m safe of course.” Definitely not because Telemachus wanted an excuse to have Antinous near him as he slept. Not at all. Why would anyone even think of suggesting that? It was an absurd thought.

“Oh? I thought you’d want a little more privacy than that. Does with you mean properly with you? Or just outside whichever room you’re in?”

Telemachus gave him a look, one that got Antinous to shut up again very quickly, although nothing could wipe that stupid smirk from his face it seemed.

“I will inform you of where you are needed. And I think that will be everything, along with doing whatever I ask of you, within your own limits of course. I will not force you to do anything you are uncomfortable doing, Antinous. I swear by the gods.”

Antinous nodded and put a fake thoughtful expression on his face. Telemachus knew it was fake because that man had never once had a thoughtful moment in his entire life. Still, Antinous did seem to be also genuinely pondering the request. After a few more moments of agonising silence, Antinous finally spoke up.

“Alright then, little wolf. I’ll become your bodyguard.”

“Wait, really?”

“You heard me the first time, I won’t say it again. Now come on, where is it you want to go first?”

“I think it’s about time you properly meet my mother.”

“Oh shit.”

“Watch your language around her, or you may not be allowed to take this job after all.”
