Chapter Text

(Chris’ POV)

I opened the door to the lodge and saw Josh and Sam right away. They looked like they were talking about something interesting. I walked over to say hi.

”Hey Cochise! Are you ready for the greatest party ever!” Josh said before I could even say hello.
“Yeah it’s gonna be so cool!” I responded. I noticed that we were still waiting for some people to show up, like Ashley. I really hope she comes.

“Wanna help us get some things ready before everyone arrives?” Sam asked.

“Uhh, yeah sure," I replied. The three of us made our way to the kitchen. There were tons of supplies scattered on the counter. Josh opened the fridge and pulled out some fruit punch. Sam tried to find some cups. I had no clue what to do.

"Bro why are you just standing there," Josh asked, "go help Sam or something." I nodded and walked towards Sam. She still couldn't find those red plastic cups. 

"Do you need help?" I asked. I knew she needed some help finding them, I just didn't want to walk over to her and be silent. 

"Yeah, I have no clue where they could be. This lodge is huge." Sam said. I didn't even notice it but Ashley had arrived. 

(Ashley's POV)

When I walked in, Josh ran right up to me. He asked if I wanted to help get some stuff ready. Of course I had to say yes, because they would be rude...I think. Josh brought me into the kitchen. Oh shit. Chris was in there too.

"Hey Ash! Wanna help Chris and I find some cups?" Sam asked. 

"Sure," I said, trying not to sound too excited. Maybe I didn't sound excited at all. Oh no, what if Chris thinks I don't want to be around him and then he secretly hates me and then there would be absolutely no chance of us ever getting together. I noticed I was overthinking. I really have to stop doing that. I walked over to Chris and stood beside him. He was looking in the cabinets. 

"Hi Chris," I said. I literally cannot mess up this conversation if I do, I swear- Chris interrupted my thoughts.

"Oh hi Ash! I didn't know you were here. So wanna help me and Sam find these cups? I have no clue on why it's taking soooo long to find them," Chris said. 

"Yeah, it's like a scavenger hunt," I replied. Ok I got this. Chris smiled and returned to looking in the cabinets. That damn smile. 

"Hey guys, Josh said he might need some extra help with something, so you guys are gonna have to find the cups without me," Sam said, I knew what she was trying to do. Please no, Sam come back!  I wish I could say that, but I didn't. I turned back around to face the cabinets and tried to help, but I couldn't focus, not with Chris right next to me.

(Chris' POV)

I knew that this wasn't going to go well for me. Me and Ashley, my crush, alone in the kitchen kinda close to each other? Yeah no, I'm probably going to do something stupid. 

"So uhh, how have you been?" I asked. 

"Pretty good, I just started reading this book and it's really interesting," Ashley replied. I love how she likes reading, I think that it's a pretty cool hobby. 

"That's cool, what's it about?" I asked. 

"It's like a murder mystery book, I love that genre," Ash said. Noted. 

"Nice, I don't read much but when I do, mystery books are usually the type of book I read." I said and Ash smiled and we both went back to finding these cups. 

(Sam's POV) 

"Just look at them, I mean how are they not together yet?" I asked. Josh and I hid the cups in a really hard spot, so that they'll talk to each other. 

"I know right? But I do have a lot of things we could do to get them together somehow. I wrote out a whole plan." Josh said.

"You seem really dedicated to getting them together, huh?" I said. 

"Wait, hold on, I'mma do something real quick. I'll be back." Josh said, while sprinting away. Then came back in like 15 seconds, and he was giggling...? I have never seen him like that wth. He then started to explain his plan.

"So, here's my plan, after this we all watch a scary movie and make them sit next to each other. Then we make them sleep in the same room for the night. Then maybe we'll somehow wake them up early while no one else is awake and then one person has to make the other person breakfast." Josh said. I was amazed. 

"Wow, you really put some thought into this. It actually sounds cute, I think that this would be fun." I said. I couldn't hear Chris and Ashley talking, maybe it's because they weren't even talking. I guess something embarrassing happened while Josh and I were talking. 

(Chris' POV- 5 minutes ago)

I was just going to open a new cabinet but then something terrible happened...Josh snuck into the kitchen, went up to me, pushed me, and made me knock over Ashley. I know it might not seem like a big deal, but when it's your crush, it's a pretty big deal...at least that's what I think. 

"Omg I am so sorry I didn't mean to I-" We made eye contact, but like this was not the normal kind. Dayum, her eyes are pretty. I then realized that I was staring at her. It got awkward pretty fast.

"Uhh..." Ashley seemed confused? Or maybe something else. I couldn't tell. Then we tried to find those cups, in silence. I wish I could just go up to Josh and be like bro I give up where are your cups, but no! I must not give up this very opportunity to talk to Ash, even though we are not talking right now. A couple of minutes later, I heard Josh yell. 

"EVERYONE GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE WE ARE GONNA WATCH A MOVIE!" Me and Ashley stopped what we were doing and went into the movie theatre along with everybody else. 

Notes: So not much happened in this chapter because had no clue what to write so the other chapters are probably much better. Anyways I hope you enjoyed this even though it's my first fanfic. BUH BYEEEE

Chapter Text

(Chris' POV)

Oh boy, I hope this goes well. 

"Ok everyone, go sit in a seat. Now, since this is my lodge, I will be choosing the movie." Josh announced. Everyone looked tired and annoyed.

"Are you serious? We are the guests. We had to walk through so much snow and it was freezing, and you can't even let us pick the movie? At least let us vote." Emily exclaimed. Of course she had to say that. She is like the popular mean girl that everyone either hates or wants to be like her. 

"Cry about it. Anyways we are going to watch...drum roll please."

Absolutely no one did the drum roll.

"Ok...never mind. But we are going to watch one of my dad's films!" Josh seemed very excited to watch this movie with everyone. I thought we were going to watch a classic horror movie but this is fine too. Everyone else actually looked like they wanted to watch this, I guess Emily's "speech" was useless. Josh then turned on the projector, and he started the movie. Josh then sat down next to Sam. I was sitting next to Ashley. The movie was pretty slow in the beginning, it was just introducing the characters. 

"I'm bored," Ashley whispered, trying not to be too loud for everyone else. Ah ha! Now I get to entertain her.

"Hi bored, I'm Chris," I joked. It's horrible, I know, but at least Ash likes them...I think?

"Nooo I just realized I have to deal with you and your lame ass jokes the entire time we watch this movie," Ashley said while trying not to laugh. We got shushed by someone, I think it might've been Jessica. Me and Ashley stoped talking, at least for a while. I had my attention on the movie for a couple of minutes, but then my attention went to Ashley. I glanced at her for a second, until we made eye contact. Then we just...looked at each other? It felt...different somehow. I felt the same thing when Josh made me bump into Ashley. I quickly looked away so Ashley couldn't see my face getting slightly more red. Then I went back to actually watching the movie. I tried to forget about that moment, but I just couldn't. I know I have a pretty big crush on Ashley, but this just was...I don't know how to describe it. I have never felt that feeling before. 

(Ashley's POV) 

Omg omg omg OMG! He looked at me, like he actually looked at me. Should I do something? Should I say I'm cold and see if he does something about it? You know what, I'm feeling brave today. 

"It's kinda cold in here," I said, hoping that Chris would do something. And he did do something, actually he did a lot more than I expected. 

"Oh uhh I'll get some blankets, and maybe some pillows, and umm here...you can borrow my hoodie for the night." Chris said. AHHHHHH.  I can't believe he said that. Is it a sign that he might like me back? No, I can't be. He just really cares about me and is a really good friend. Plus, as a reader I would probably know when someone likes me...right?

"Hey, I'm back. Here's a pillow, a blanket, and...hold on," Chris then took off his hoodie and handed it to me with the smile, "here's my hoodie." I gladly took the hoodie and put it on. It was big on me, but I didn't care. I then put the pillow behind me and wrapped myself up in the warm, fuzzy blanket. I just know that my crush on Chris is getting stronger everytime he interacts with me, and I like it. I smiled to myself and continued to watch the movie. The movie was getting suspenseful. I do not like scary things. I don't know why I even sat down and decided to actually watch this movie with everyone else. Maybe it was to spend more time with Chris...yeah it definitley was that. The suspense started to build up, and I was getting really scared. I wish I could run out the movie theatre and go into my room. I actually don't know where my room is and who is going to be in the same room as me. All of a sudden, the suspenseful music stopped, and it seemed like the scary part was over, but no. It was not in fact over.

(Chris' POV)

I noticed Ashley fidgeting a lot more than usual. I realized that she's probably scared from the movie. The suspense is really intense. Then, all of the sudden, there's a jumpscare and a lot of people react. Jess, Emily, and surprisingly Matt screamed. Everyone else jumped a bit, including Ashley. I was determined to comfort Ash, so what did I do? I put my arm around her and pulled her closer. It's a bold move, but I was feeling brave, which is kinda rare for me. Then I actually realized what I was doing. I was basically cuddling Ashley. I didn't want to stop comforting her, but it was getting a  bit too embarrassing for me. I kept on comforting her anyways. Ashley then looked up at me and smiled. I think I did the right thing. Then, I heard Josh.

"Brooo, you finally did something. Just look at you two, you guys are adorable," I froze. I could feel my face getting warmer. 

"S-shut up!" I said. Knowing Josh, he is definitely not gonna shut up. This is really embarrassing, I mean imagine "cuddling" your crush and your best friend says that out loud. He's basically telling her that I have a crush on her! It seemed like Ashley was embarrassed too. She was trying to hide her face, but it wasn't working. Josh was trying his best not to laugh. After a minute or two, things started to calm down. I focused on the movie and tried to forget all about what just happened. Then, I could feel something on my shoulder. I realized that Ashley had fallen asleep and she rested her head on my shoulder. I was shocked. Is this really happening? I look over to Sam and she's just smiling and looking all happy. I have no clue what to do now...I should just ask Sam.

"Psst, Sam...what do I do, because I have nooo clue," I asked.

"Dude, you're so pathetic. Ok so you kinda just have to try to make her more comfortable." Sam responded, still smiling. I did try to make her comfortable, and I think I succeeded. We stayed like that for a while. When the movie ended, Ashley looked like she wasn't waking up anytime soon. 

"Bro, just carry her to your room," Josh said. What?! My room?! Carry her?! There's no way I'm doing that. I guess everyone else heard what Josh said because they are all staring at us now. Great. 

"No way, I am not bringing her to my room," I said. Josh laughed, and so did Sam. 

"Chris...there isn't enough rooms for all of us to sleep alone, so you gotta share one with Ash," Sam explained. Oh...oh no. I am going to mess up our friendship so badly if we share a bed. What if she hates me if I tell her that I like her? What if I accidentally say something in my sleep? There's so much more that I could possibly do that would be very embarrassing for me. Then, Josh grabbed both of my arms and tried to make me pick up Ashley. 

"Dude, what are you doing? I can do this perfectly fine on my own," I just realized what I said... "uhhh I mean, no I'm not going to do what you want me to do."

"Do you want the girl or not?" Josh asked. 

"Ok, ok fine... I'll carry her, I guess," I'm actually kinda glad that I get to do this, I mean who wouldn't be, right? I then scooped Ashley up. Josh was delighted that I was actually doing something. Then carried Ash all the way to my room, Sam and Josh followed me the whole way there. I gently placed her on the right side of the bed and looked at Sam and Josh. 

"Is this what you guys wanted?" I asked. They both nodded and bolted out of the room. They didn't even bother to close the door, or say goodnight. It's been a long day and I can't wait to go to bed. Right when I was about to get comfortable, Ashley woke up.

Chapter Text

(Ashley's POV)

How did I get here? I guess someone must've moved me here after the movie ended. I look to the left and realize...Chris. We're sharing a bed together. This was probably Josh's idea. I wonder how Chris feels about this. Wait...I gotta get my book. I then quietly get up from the bed and walk out into the living room-ish area thingy. I really don't know what it is. I spotted my bag next to one of the couches and I quickly grabbed it and ran really fast back to my, well... our, room. I hate being alone in the dark because like...what if there's a monster lurking in the shadows, and I go out there and I get decapitated or something. You'll never know. Once I make it back to our room, I sit on the end of the bed and open up my book. I hate reading while laying down, it's just so uncomfortable for some reason. I'm on chapter 10 in my book, and I only started a couple of days ago. Since this book is a murder mystery, I have some people that I'm suspicious of. I have many theories, you could say that I'm Matpat. THAT JOKE WAS HORRIBLE WHY DID I THINK THAT. I think I'm becoming Chris...actually that wouldn't be so bad. Ok, ok back to reading. Ooo, add another suspect to my list because this is just really weirdddd. Huh, this person was near the room where the murder happened at the same time when it actually happened. I think that it might be her. I can't wait to finish this-wait...I feel like someone is watching me. I turn around to find Chris in the iconic "giggling and kicking my feet" laying pose. That's actually so cute...WAIT HE WAS WATCHING ME THIS WHOLE TIME????

"C-Chris? I-uhh...I didn't know you were awake," I could tell that I was blushing a bit. 

"Oh, uhh yeah I was just..." Chris wouldn't dare to finish that sentince. "never mind." I decided to be brave and tease him a bit. 

"Oh come on, you were totally watching me read," I said. He kinda just froze for a couple of seconds before speaking.

"I-uhh...what? Why would I ever do that," Chris knew that I caught him. The only reason I could tell is because his face was red. 

"Just admit it already,"

"I wasn't watching you," Chris paused for a couple of seconds, then he smirked and said, "or was I?" 

"Ah ha! I knew it!" I stood up and pointed at him while smiling. 

"Nooo you got me...SURPRISE ATTACK!" Chris lunged forward and pulled me back onto the bed. We were both giggling and having fun. I grabbed a shirt out of my bag and started smacking Chris with it. He also grabbed a shirt and it became a battle. We probably woke everybody up, but I didn't care. We were having so much fun. Chris then tackled me and we both fell on the bed. I fell facing up, and Chris...he was on top of me. It was like he was pinning me down. We both froze and were completely silent. My face felt like it was burning. 

"Oh shit-I uhh...I'm so sorry Ash...I didn't mean to," Chris apologized. 

"...it's ok," I said, trying to avoid eye contact. I was too stunned to really do anything, but we both got up and laid down on our side of the bed. We didn't say a thing the rest of the night. Then, I fell asleep.
