Work Text:

Ryoutarou shifted on the couch, one hand resting lightly on his rounded stomach. The evening sunlight streamed through the window, warming the room, but he felt a little faint from all the cooking and cleaning he’d tried to do on his own.
“…Ryoutarou?” Yuuto’s voice came from the doorway. He had just returned from work, tie loosened, camera bag slung over his shoulder.
Ryoutarou turned, managing a small smile. “…Yuuto… I… I tried to make dinner, but…”
Yuuto crossed the room in a few steps, immediately taking Ryoutarou’s hand in his. “…You don’t have to do everything by yourself,” he murmured, brushing a kiss over Ryoutarou’s forehead. “…Come on, let me help.”
Ryoutarou’s lips trembled in a shy smile. “…I just… I wanted to do something normal, you know?”
Yuuto pressed his forehead gently against Ryoutarou’s. “…You’re carrying our child. That’s more than enough. Everything else I can handle.”Later, they were in the kitchen together. Ryoutarou leaned against the counter while Yuuto chopped vegetables. Occasionally, Yuuto would glance at him, a soft smile tugging at his lips.
“…You look tired,” Yuuto said gently.
“…A little,” Ryoutarou admitted. “…But I wanted to help.”
Yuuto reached out, brushing his thumb across Ryoutarou’s hand. “…You’ve already done more than enough,” he murmured. “…Now it’s my turn to take care of you.”
Ryoutarou leaned slightly into him, enjoying the warmth. “…I like being taken care of,” he admitted softly.
“…Then let me,” Yuuto whispered, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of Ryoutarou’s head. “…Always.”
They curled up on the couch, Ryoutarou’s head resting against Yuuto’s chest.
“…Do you think… it’s really going to be okay?” Ryoutarou murmured, one hand lightly pressing against his stomach.
Yuuto wrapped an arm around him, holding him close. “…Of course,” he said firmly. “…We’re in this together. Every step.”
“…Even when it’s hard?”
“…Especially then,” Yuuto replied. “…I’ll be here. Always.”
Ryoutarou smiled softly, closing his eyes. “…I’m glad it’s with you,” he whispered. “…Always you.”
“…Always,” Yuuto murmured, pressing another kiss to his temple.
And in the quiet of their home, with the soft rhythm of heartbeats and the gentle anticipation of the new life growing between them, they found comfort in each other, ready to face the journey of parenthood together.
Ryoutarou had started showing more now, his belly round and firm beneath his shirts. He often found himself tired more quickly, and Yuuto had been an ever-present support.
One afternoon, Ryoutarou sat on the couch, his legs stretched out, a hand resting lightly on his stomach.
“…You need to lie down,” Yuuto said softly, setting down his camera. “…You’ve been on your feet too long.”
“…I’m fine,” Ryoutarou murmured, though his hand pressed instinctively to his belly as a faint flutter moved beneath his fingers.
Yuuto knelt beside him, brushing a soft kiss across Ryoutarou’s temple. “…You’re never just fine when you’re carrying our child,” he said gently. “…Let me help.”
Ryoutarou smiled faintly, letting himself lean against Yuuto. “…I guess… I don’t mind being helped,” he admitted.
Yuuto’s lips curved. “…Good,” he murmured, pressing another kiss to Ryoutarou’s forehead. “…Because I plan to take care of you every step of the way.”
Evenings became a mix of quiet routines and small rituals. Ryoutarou would prepare simple meals, often sitting while Yuuto chopped or stirred, leaning close to share little touches.
“…You’ve been so careful with everything,” Ryoutarou said one evening, a faint blush on his cheeks. “…Even me.”
“…Because I love you,” Yuuto replied softly, brushing a hand across his back. “…And I love this little one. You both mean everything to me.”
Ryoutarou pressed a hand to his stomach instinctively, feeling the gentle movement within. “…I can feel them,” he whispered. “…It’s amazing.”
“…They’re lucky,” Yuuto murmured, resting his hand over Ryoutarou’s. “…Lucky to have you, and I’m lucky to have you both.”
They ate in comfortable silence, occasionally sharing quiet smiles or brushing fingers, letting the warmth of home and love fill the space around them.
Yuuto became more protective as Ryoutarou’s belly grew. He would often wrap himself around Ryoutarou while he rested on the couch, pressing gentle kisses to his forehead.
“…Yuuto…” Ryoutarou murmured one evening, leaning into him. “…You don’t have to hover so much.”
“…I want to,” Yuuto said softly. “…I just… can’t help it. You’re carrying our child. I want you safe, always.”
Ryoutarou smiled faintly, closing his eyes. “…I like it,” he admitted quietly. “…Being close to you.”
“…Then I’ll stay,” Yuuto whispered, tightening his arms around him. “…Always.”
As the due date approached, they spent hours preparing the nursery, carefully arranging tiny clothes, blankets, and toys.
“…Everything looks perfect,” Ryoutarou murmured, running his hand over a small crib.
“…It’s going to be perfect,” Yuuto replied softly, pressing a kiss to his temple. “…Because it’s ours.”
They spent the evenings imagining the little one’s personality, talking in hushed, excited tones about the life they would share together, and sometimes just holding each other in quiet anticipation.
Ryoutarou couldn’t sleep well that night, the mix of excitement and nerves keeping him awake.
“…Are you nervous?” Yuuto whispered, brushing his fingers through Ryoutarou’s hair.
“…A little,” Ryoutarou admitted. “…It’s a big change.”
Yuuto pressed a gentle kiss to his forehead. “…I’ll be right there with you. Every moment. You’re not alone.”
“…Promise?”
“…Promise,” Yuuto murmured. “…Always.”
They held each other close, the quiet hum of anticipation wrapping around them, hearts beating together, waiting for the new life they had created.
