Chapter Text
007n7 didn't fully believe that his job was righteous, he's just a cybercrime investigator under the administration. After his so-called retirement from his days of hacking he sought out different ways for work, he used to duplicate money and exploit businesses to gain his everyday needs but his easy-going lifestyle ended when a new face was promptly- and discourteously, placed at his doorstep.
It rained heavily that night when he found that little thing.
He was just a mere three month old baby.
The hacker didn't know what to do exactly that night when he found his soon-to-be adoptive son but he knew even as immature as he was back then that no robloxian child should leave through being left on a doorstep to be ignored, to die even.
So now here he is living on the meager wage the CEO of Roblox hands down to him as he sits in his small cubicle neck deep in a supposedly "quick" problem about a random hacker who decided to duplicate robux in broad daylight, it in fact was not easily fixed and the perpetrator had been wearing many faces as he enacted his crimes. Whilst he typed away on his laptop- which he conveniently carries anywhere.
He had been working in the company for nearly a decade ever since his supposed retirement from exploitation and hacking, still he feels like he sticks out like a sore thumb in his workplace. Someone who doesn't belong at all, that and with his track record he's infamously well known within the office as simply a criminal that Builderman took pity on and thus here he is.
But that’s all he is to them, someone who committed atrocities across Robloxia.
A hand tapped him on his shoulder making me straighten up his posture immediately as he turned around to greet whoever it was.
"You good seven?"
007n7 eyes met a yellow faced robloxian grinning down on him, a familiar face which to be honest the retired hacker is more grateful in seeing, if it were Doombringer he wouldn't be able to meet the helmet wearing man eye to eye.
"I'm good" He says, tone low, gaze avoidant.
"Do tell me if you want to eat lunch with us cause we're going out soon, or if you want I could just bring you lunch"
Another thing he likes about the admin, he doesn't have any underlying bias towards him despite his past, the first steps he took in the headquarters were paired with Shedletsky's over the top touring session of the place dragging him along the various floors and offices.
So yes, he has a favorite among the admins.
"Oh sure, if it's fine with you that is"
"The usual?" The man adds, hovering over him.
"Yes, the tuna sandwich and salad"
"Stop eating that, whenever I look at your cubicle I can't help but cry"
"Very funny coming from a man who gorges on fried chicken"
"Can-" Shedletsky huffs in annoyance, arms at his hips, it seems he's now the butt of the joke in the room. "Can we stop bringing up my obsession with fried chicken? that was one time"
"Well you brought up my choice for lunch so...let's bring up yours"
"..."
The silence was deafening.
"Don't tell me you ordered fried chicken"
"Chicken fillet"
"Ah, still chicken-"
"Oh shut up" He pokes the man at his side, chuckling.
He ate outside, he never liked the stuffy atmosphere the office halls brought him, and he can't actually bring himself to eat together with Shedletsky since he's together with most of the admins hoarding around him. It was rare though if he ever managed to sit down with the yellow faced robloxian to eat.
So here he is in his lonesome eating a tuna sandwich.
Under the parasol he's shielded from the bright rays of the afternoon sun, the headquarters isn't so generous but at least the canteen has a wide balcony carrying fresh air and cold winds. Wrapping up the now finished tuna sandwich he turned his gaze to the salad in the plastic container, opening the packet of caesar dressing with his teeth he opened the salad tossing it. As he continued to eat his lunch something from the corner of his eye caught his attention and he had to slowly munch away like a beaver staring at the streets from below.
He wasn't sure if he saw it right but he's sure he saw a flicker of red run past the garbage bins behind an alleyway.
Looking around him he sighed then stood up pushing the chair away from the table as he cleaned up his lunch, maybe he should go downstairs just to make sure it wasn't another of those drakobloxxers lurking around, it had been some time since their infestation so it couldn't have been possible that their population increased that quickly after their extermination. But a select few survived, evolved even.
Because his child is one of them.
A few minutes later he found himself taking the elevator to the ground floor, everyone was packed like sardines within the little machinery, he let out another sigh wishing this moment would go quicker.
Arriving on the ground floor of the headquarters, he was immediately thrown into the crowds of employees pushing past him as they hurried into the elevator, he was nearly squashed to death but thankfully he got out of the near-death situation and managed to get out of the overpopulated lounge. Exiting through the entrance was easy enough as he tapped his I.D. on the revolving gate, the steel beams swiftly allowing him his exit. Now outside he surveyed the area, his view fixated on the nearby alley he caught a flash of red from earlier.
He ran across the road apologizing profusely as he nearly hit a passerby who glared at him, brushing off the encounter he returned his attention to the alleyway and upon arriving there all he found was an empty area with no wandering red figure whatsoever, that and the constant humming of the broken air conditioner some random apartment is using.
Maybe he was just overreacting.
Then a gunshot broke out, his instincts kicked in making him dive in the garbage bins lining the alleyway hiding himself among the most heinous smelling trash bags you've ever smelt in your life. He held his breath trying not to puke at the stench that invaded his nostrils, it felt like he was breathing in manure.
Soon the sound of footsteps followed, it sounded heavy as if it were combat boots worn by a veteran.
He heard the garbage bin rattling and 007n7 came to realize the person was leaning on the dumpster, and they might be the same person who shot the gun earlier. Deducting this in the most haphazard manner possible he opened the garbage bin's lid all too impulsively which resulted in hitting whoever poor guy was leaning on the dumpster.
“Ow!” A man exclaimed, voice gruff.
“I'm with Roblox Cybercrime Investigations Unit, don't move!” He says, procuring his badge that he barely shows.
The retired hacker cringed at his own authoritative tone but he pressed on, if this was the same man who shot the gun earlier then maybe he's finally doing some good other than investigating petty crimes-
“Uh…”
The man stared back, blue hair messily slicked back with stray hairs hanging off his forehead as if it were hurriedly slicked back with gel before he left his home. Gray eyes stared back into 007n7's own brown ones, he looked absolutely confused.
“Um, stay? you shot the gun earlier right?” The retired hacker thought that it was stupid he is asking a suspect to confirm if he did shoot a firearm, stupid.
“Yes, I'm in the military”
“Oh”
Well he done ###### it up again, he just tried to arrest a man in the army.

“What were you doin’ arresting a police officer?! and a veteran at that!” The C.E.O. of Roblox shouted in his office as Shedletsky stood by the retired hacker’s side comforting the poor guy.
It was bright that afternoon. With some hours of arguing and complete miscommunication with the Police Department they managed to come to a consensus as the yellow faced robloxian apologized profusely on behalf of the stammering retired hacker.
007n7 then spoke up trying to defend himself. “I didn't know I just- I heard a gun shot so I-”
Hearing the man sigh at his response he told himself inwardly to just shut up, he has gone through this multiple times already but that doesn’t mean he would want to humiliate himself multiple times as well.
“Shedletsky…handle him properly alright? I know you’re handling another batch of interns but-” Builderman just stares at 007n7 for a long while, unsure what to say next. “Keep him under wraps”
“Well it wasn’t that bad I talked to them already and it was just a big misunderstanding so all’s well”
“You keep saying that but next time something like this happens again you do know I have to do somethin’ with his behaviour?”
“Yeah boss got it!” He mockingly gave the C.E.O. of roblox a salute then promptly pushed out the poor employee at his side to the doors of the office, the retired hacker wore the same pitiful face he's always had whenever he was reprimanded.
Now outside the yellow faced robloxian closed the glass office doors still wearing the same smile as he faced the one at his right, his expression scrunching up about to sob.
“Hey don't let his words get to you, yeah?” Shedletsky placed his hand gently on the other man's shoulder, shaking him slightly.
“I know…I know that”
“You keep saying that but your face looks like it's about to cry”
“I'm not crying”
“I didn't say that” The man argues but he apologizes afterwards with his tone, he takes a deep breath and exhales as he tries to comfort the retired hacker. “Look, it was just a big misunderstanding, don't let it get to your head that you made such a big mistake it's just that bigtime C.E.O. over there worries too much about our reputation that's why he's acting like that”
“Yes you don't have to say all that-” At this point his eyes began to water as if an onion were cut right below him and he's fighting against it.
“Don't cry!, you'll get those old man wrinkles”
“That doesn't- that doesn't happen from crying!”
“It does” Shedletsky argues with the now incoherent near sobbing sounds that the retired hacker tried to stifle. “That's why Builder looks so old when he's just what? a decade older than me?”
“I thought you were both the same age” He responds, confused.
“Now that’s just insulting”
“I wasn’t insinuating that at all Shed you’re uh-”
“I’m what” His sentence ended harshly, but his tone wasn’t all too condescending as if he were offended that his friend may or may not have said he’s probably old.
“Very hale and hearty?”
Both men were silent, especially 007n7 as he scratched the back of his neck awkwardly wondering why he specifically used those two words to describe the admin’s very youthful appearance because it sounded like the description he was making him out to be was-
“You’re saying I'm a healthy horse?
“No!” He raised his arms in alarm as he frantically disagreed.
“Don’t be so scared seven I don’t bite, I do think describing me as a horse isn’t too far off”
“I’m serious I didn’t mean it like that at all”
Shedletsky began to laugh at the man’s poor attempt to apologize and instead he clapped the retired hacker at his back and brought the man closer to him, arm around his neck.
“Hey don’t apologize further, it’s fine, y’know this is why people tease you so much in the office because you’re so easy to rile up”
“That sounds concerning” 007n7 replies, he does remember how most of the people at their office floor often tease him about simple things and more often than not they chuckle at his demise, it was only the admin at his side who doesn’t go too far.
“It isn’t”
“Well it is to me”
“Well it ain’t to me” The admin repeats the words back at him in opposition.
“Oh so you find some amusement in my suffering as well?”
“No, you’re adorable whenever you try to argue with someone teasing you”
Clocking out of work, 007n7 punched in his card near the lounge room as he headed for the fire exit stairs just to his right, he avoided taking the elevator whenever it was closing hours at the office since the elevator would be crowded with people and he didn’t want to be packed like sardines with the other also equally tired office workers like him.
It was also not the most viable option he has in mind since of course the fire exit stairs are so creepy at night compared to in the day so he had to turn on the flashlight of his phone before heading down, taking a deep breath he ventured into the darkness bravely like many times before and carefully took each step down. His worn-out shoes echoed through the steel stairs, and with only a few more floors to go he continued on in the dark.
That’s when he got hit with a door opening right at his face and his phone nearly fell from his hands.
His hand came up to soothe the pain that came from his poor nose as he soon heard a man grumbling, most likely the same person who unpromptedly opened the steel door right at his face, he was about to speak up and complain until he saw the face of the man emerge behind the door.
“Oh- Builder-” The retired hacker corrects himself, he must have gotten that habit from Shedletsky he should not be calling his superior a kindergarten nickname. “I mean Mr. Builderman Good Evening” He forced his most polite tone out from the crevices of his throat just so he can escape whatever foreboding conversation may come out from this interaction.
He oh so desperately wants to leave, now.
“007n7, what are you doing right 'ere in the fire exit” Builderman had always looked all too prim and proper in the television broadcasts, that and he puts up a smile that screams marketable but unlike now he’s just a guy who may or may not look like your average manager at a mall, tired and temperance near boiling up.
“Well I thought the elevators would be too crowded at this hour so I decided to take the stairs”
“Is our hq that populated already?” He asks not because he wants to refute that man’s claims that their headquarters is reaching levels of which population can compete with a city but his tone is saying he’s concerned but 007n7 didn’t notice that.
“Oh no! Completely fine”
“Then why are you takin’ the stairs, it’s dark in ‘ere ”
The retired hacker looked around him for answers, literally, if he were to say that yes he took the stairs because the elevators were too crowded then the C.E.O. would put up some random memorandum about it and close it off to renovate it and then they’d all suffer but if he were to lie and say “oh i’m taking the stairs because I don’t want to be with other people” then the man would assume he’s being antisocial and up to something which doesn’t want to ever happen lest he loses his job over suspicions and paranoia that Builderman already has about him even though it isn’t all to obvious, he knows the man is wary of him to some extent.
“I want to rest my eyes?” He answers, unsure.
That was the most stupidest thought that came from his pea sized brain.
“You want to rest your eyes?” Builderman also throws back the question, unsure himself if he should trust the answer that just came from the man’s mouth.
“Oh y;know, I've been staring at the screen for so long I thought maybe it’s better to take the long route and exercise as well, cause y’know sitting all day isn’t all to productive”
“I’m startin’ to think you’re just making up excuses because you don’t want to take stuffed elevator”
The retired hacker gives up making excuses, sighing as he admits the truth. “Yes”
“Same here”
“What?” 007n7 replies surprised that the man would rather take the stairs as well, though it made him wonder why the C.E.O. of a company would take the stairs if he can just make a person step out of an elevator allowing him to take a ride quickly.
“I know what you’re thinking, it isn’t like that, I don’t want to bother tired employees and make them get out of an elevator for me”
“Yeah but still-”
“I don’t want to be that kind of boss 007n7”
“I see…”
“Am I being too overbearing?” He asks out of the blue, readjusting the orange hard hat on his head, looking away from his employee.
“No!” The man responds, voice higher than the building they’re standing on making the C.E.O. nearly jump from where he was standing. “I mean- you’re nice”
“That scared the #### out of me”
“I’m sorry I just-”
“I know, i’m a intimidatin’ man, be honest with me are you sure i’m not too…mean?”
“Not at all”
“I feel like you’re lying through your teeth here” Builderman took a long look at him, wary.
007n7 stared at the man unblinking before he decided to run off heading downstairs as the C.E.O. stared at him incredulously wondering what's gotten into the man to make him sprint like that so recklessly.
Builderman wanted to go after him but he stopped himself, sighing, that would seem unprofessional.
Arriving back home with arms heavy with groceries, he found his son sitting on the carpet in the living room staring at the T.V. as the news played for the night.
"What's on the news kid?"
"Admins"
"Ah...I see"
007n7 had a love-hate relationship with admins and to be fair, they do too, only person on the administration who seems to have some liking towards him is the rowdy Shedletsky who seems to like teasing him more often than not. Dusekarr too didn't find him frustrating unlike the C.E.O. himself.
Setting down the groceries on the kitchen he began to organize them in the fridge taking out the spoiled ones, immediately throwing them in the trash bin nearby.
He's hoping that maybe they weren't so harsh towards him in the future.
His phone then began ringing in his pocket, he scrambled for it and momentarily picked it up.
"H-hello? Who is this"
"Hey 007n7" The familiar gruff voice of Buidlerman echoed throught he kitchen. "A exploit report came in and we need you on deck, someone is also looking for you in the office, mind dropping by?"
"Oh...is it alright if I bring my kid? no one is here to watch him at home-"
"Sure, we can have someone watch him over in hq, just hurry up" The phone call ends and the retired hacker sighs, placing the phone down.
It seems that he is being forced to do overtime.
