Chapter Text
Freminet…
Neuvillette never truly talked to him often. He had seen him in passing and was aware of his siblings he had seen on strange before. However, unlike the two twins, the young boy seemed to linger in the background. Neuvillette often heard him call out for the hydro dragon in the rain, but other than that, he never spoke to him.
That was until he was in the fortress of Meropide. Sigewinne was treating the young boy due to him having been in contact with primordial sea water. After all was said and done and he sealed the waters away, he went to say goodbye to his daughter figure, Sigewinne. She saw him checking on him while his siblings stood, worried, off to the side. He walked up to the young nurse.
“Sigewinne? Did something happen to him?”
“Oh Monsieur! He simply came into contact with primordial sea water but he should be fine.” Neuvillette felt both worried and relieved at this news, but it didn’t show on his face. He knelt down to the boy, “Are you in any pain?”
Freminet groaned, his face pink with blush from the fever he had. Neuvillette placed his hand on his forehead and used the power of hydro to cool his fever down a bit. Sigewinne smiled and thanked him.
As Neuvillette walked out, the siblings thanked him for his gesture and he was off again. He stopped by the cafeteria of the prison. Requesting to use the kitchen for a small period of time. The cook, Wolsey, allowed this.
Neuvillette began to prepare ingredients and grabbed a pot. In it, he began to make a soft and tender soup for the boy. He served it in a plain bowl with a small garnish. He grabbed a small slip of paper and wrote on it:
“I saw you were ill, I prepared this stew for you to eat. If it is cold, ask the head nurse to heat it up for you ok?
I wish for a fast recovery from your ailment,
Monsieur Neuvillette”
He place it on the tray next to the soup with a cup of water and a spoon. He walked briskly to the infirmary and place it on the bed side table. Sigewinne had noticed but didn’t say a thing, just softly smiled to herself. As swiftly as he arrived again, he departed again.
-The day after the prophecy-
He was in his office, swamped by towering papers all in need of his attention due to the tragedy that had happened in Fontaine. A soft knocking rang from his door.
“Come in” the two magic twins had walked in.
“We are here to give you thanks for helping our little brother.” Lyney said. Urging the younger boy in. He seemed bashful and held a small mechanical blue dragon in his hands. Lynette patted his back as if to urge him to walk toward the Iudex. And so he did. Freminet placed the small creation on his desk.
“T-thank you for the soup… it was delicious.” Neuvillette picked up the small mechanical toy to find a small wind up handle. He turned it softly a few times and watched and the dragon bobbed his head up and down. The Iudex… smiled… which came as a surprise to the three young siblings in front of him, but neither had said a thing.
“Is this the hydro dragon?” Neuvillette questioned and Freminet quietly nodded. “It is beautiful… did you make it?” Again the young boy nodded, playing with his sleeves. Neuvillette placed it on his desk gently. He stood up and walked around his desk and held open his arms for the young boy.
The twins were taken aback by the strange gesture. Freminet, however, simply walk forward and hugged the man and be embraced him back. “Work has been awfully hard recently. This gift… it means very much to me. You possess a great talent and you should not be ashamed or shy about it, young Freminet.” The boys face grew hot in embarrassment and shyness, but simply nodded and pulled away, the siblings quickly left the room all still confused at the strange site.
Freminet that night laid in bed. His chest felt tight and… warm… his interaction with the Iudex seemed to be comforting in a way Freminet only felt around his siblings.
Since then Freminet would come up to the Iudex more often when he saw him outside. He would share his projects and what happened during his day recently. Sometimes, Neuvillette would even buy him something to eat or drink. He didn’t feel like he needed to hide himself or his feelings like he did with father.
They bonded over their love of the ocean. Neuvillette sometimes sent him small shells and Kamera photos he and the Melusines took. Freminet simply kept them under his bed, this little family of his felt more complete in a way.
