Chapter 1: Prologue
Chapter Text
The alluring pull of his new Sapphire ring was simply far too powerful, and Eijirou embraced it whole heartedly, never slipping it out of his finger since he had received it.
He grinned, kicking his legs up giddily in the air just from the memory of Teijo asking for his hand in marriage.
It was an unexpected proposal to say the least considering how the pair had only begun dating two months ago, and they haven’t even been on a single date since his boyfriend was swamped with work all the time
Hence why he was taken aback when Teijo popped up the question last night through a cheesy serenade of a love song, but Eijirou wasn’t complaining in the slightest.
So it was without any doubt that Eijirou said ‘yes’, entrusting his future into Teijio’s clutches which the redhead had no problem doing.
After all, he loved his boyfriend with every fiber of his being, and he wanted nothing more than to spend his life with him.
They were now fiancés, and everything felt so much more right in the world.

“It’s not unusual, but you seem to especially be in high spirits today.”
Eijirou’s humming came to an abrupt halt as he shifted his focus from the current training regimen he was conducting to regard one of his regular clients—Tabata.“Well, you see… my boyfriend surprised me a couple days ago and-”
Shyly, he raised his right hand up to the other’s vantage point, letting his ring do the talking when his coherency wasn’t all quite present.
“Congratulations, young man!” The elderly man cheerily proclaimed, pushing himself to do another push up with renewed vigor. “What great news! Marriage is truly one of the most exciting events in our lives, so I’m truly happy for you both. Why, I still remember my wedding over four decades ago…”
Engrossed in Tabata’s animated storytelling, Eijirou placed the clipboard on the ground, completely losing track of the number of push ups that the old man was doing.
“And then, my wife took me up in a waltz before everyone’s eyes. We had such a great time that we still re-enact that event to this day every year on our special day!”
Images of himself and Teijo dancing their nights away entered his brain, and Eijirou smiled dreamily, wanting nothing more than to experience that sort of romantic fantasy with the man he loved.
Warm arms came up from behind him, and the redhead snapped out from his lovestruck man, spinning around to lock gazes with the very subject of his imagination.”
“Babe, what are you doing-”
“Ouch, have you already forgotten about our date today?” Teijo pouted adorably, drawing Eijirou closer to his chest. “I’m here to pick you up.”
“Sorry, it must’ve slipped off of my mind,” Eijirou shook off remnants of guilt which clung to him from his lapse in memory, angling his head up to kiss Teijo on the cheek. “I hope you’re not too mad?”
“Of course not, I can never be mad at you for something like that,” Teijo graced Eijirou’s lips with a kiss in response to the question, wrapping an arm around his beloved’s waist. “Now, let’s go, I have the most perfect place in mind for our date.”
“Ah, wait, I can’t,” Eijirou jutted his head towards the abandoned clipboard lying on the ground. “I still have items off of the list that I need to cross off with Tabata-san.”
“No, don’t mind me,” Tabata refuted, rising to his feet. “I assure you that you youngsters can go on ahead with that date of yours. We can just finish up the rest of the regimen next time, Eijirou-kun.”
And then, before Eijirou could even begin to voice out his gratitude, the elderly man strode off to the changing rooms, moving at a quick pace he wouldn’t even have been capable of even weeks ago.
“C’mon, let’s go then, babe.”
Teijo interlaced their fingers together, his free hand already reaching to grab the clipboard from the floor, sending Eijirou’s heart into an overdrive just from the sheer sweet action alone.
He really had the best partner, didn’t he?
```
Lunch hour brought about a huge crowd to the cafe, making securing seats a challenge for their date.
Yet, even if it took some extra bit of time and effort, they still somehow managed to find themselves a place to sit the back of the cafe, a cozy atmosphere floating between them whilst they stuffed their cheeks with delectable pasta and sandwiches.
“Thanks for taking me out today, Teijo.” Eijirou said in between his bites, sliding their limp hands from below the table. “I always wanted to go on a date with you.”
“Eijirou, I was-”
Bearing no hard feelings whatsoever, Eijirou kicked the blue haired man playfully on his shin in order to bring back some levity. “Hey, don’t worry, like I said so many times before, I get it, babe, so you don’t need to apologize.”
Recently, after last month’s financial crisis, Teijo’s oil company had been facing some serious troubles these days, sapping away the majority of his free time which left the blue haired man too stressed to even entertain his personal life on most days.
For them to be able to go on this date right now was a blessing at its finest, and Eijirou extended all of his thanks to the beings above for this lucky opportunity.
“So, enough about my work, let’s talk about our upcoming wedding,” Pushing his finished plate aside, Teijo slapped a notebook on the table to lay on its stead, practically emanating an air of pride from the way he had smiled and spoken next. “I took the liberty of doing some planning for it already.”
With his curiosity now piqued, Eijirou browsed through the offered notebook, his eyebrows knitted in a furrow upon catching sight of the date which was scribbled and encircled in the first page—
July eighth, only four months away from now….
“Isn’t the date a little too early?” Eijirou pointed out, hoping that his betrothed wouldn’t take any offense to what he had to say. “I don’t know much about wedding planning, but I’ve heard that it’s a complicated process. I’m not sure that four months would be enough.”
“We’ll be fine,” Teijo nonchalantly dismissed all of Eijirou’s worries with the wave of his hand , the smidge of a frown marring his lips . “And an early wedding is always better, I mean aren’t you excited for us to marry? I, for one, couldn't wait to marry you, babe. I’ve been counting down the days even.”
Horror instantly struck within Eijirou, knowing that he had committed a mistake by doubting his lover. “I’m sorry, Teijo. I- you’re right. An early wedding isn’t a bad thing since I also feel the same—I’ll have you know that our wedding is what I’ve been most looking forward to since you proposed to me that day.”
His words did the trick, and Teijo was back to talking about the wedding as if nothing had happened, a sunny smile replacing his previous frown.“Now that we’re on the same page, let’s move on with the other stuff I had planned for us…”
```
“Fuck, I can’t believe that this is harder than I thought!”
A rare exclamation of cursing left his partner’s mouth as he paced around their home, glaring a hole at his own notes.
“What’s wrong?”
“At first, I thought we could handle all the planning, but I don’t know if that’s the case anymore” Teijo answered, throwing his hands up in the air in his frustration. “I feel like I might collapse if I press one more thing in the calculator. The only thing we had decided was that it would be an indoor wedding.”
“Babe, about that, I didn’t mention this while we were in the cafe yesterday…” Eijirou moved to stand beside the other man, resting a hand on Teijo’s shoulder. “But I think we’d be better off with an outdoor wedding, it’d help with the vibes and everything.”
“Right,” Teijo scoffed, shying away from Eijirou’s touch, levelling the redhead a sarcastic look. “Because the chance of it raining would be totally zero on our wedding day!”
“Babe, I don’t mean it like-”
“I’m going to bed,” Teijo stepped past his lover, shaking the hand cupped on his shoulder. “I have an early shift tomorrow, so you also don’t have to make me any breakfast.”
All too aware of the fact that Teijo might value his space at the moment, Eijirou hadn’t given into his urge of following his significant other, instead choosing to stay behind the living room.
The mere sight of the notebook containing all of Teijo’s wedding plans had him grimacing, and one of his fists inadvertently curled into a ball as he inwardly cursed the fact that it was the source of all his partner’s current troubles.
If only they wouldn’t have to deal with wedding planning…
```
Eijirou had just finished a session with an overly eager gym enthusiast when he received a call from his betrothed.
“Hello?”
“Ei, be sure to keep your schedule free afterwards today,” Teijo stated, his tone leaving no room for discussion. “We have an appointment later for a wedding planner.”
The surge of resulting relief eased the tightness in his chest swiftly, all worry leaving his system completely as he noted how Teijo had sounded much more relaxed compared to how stressed he had been the night before.
“A wedding planner?”
At that, Teijo readily elaborated, pep evident through his voice.“I did some research just now, and I found this highly acclaimed wedding planner. His office is just near our home, so it’s very convenient for us both to access him every time that we need him.”
It was without a question that Eijirou was in agreement immediately, not wanting a repeat of last night’s events. “That sounds great, Teijo! So I guess that our problem is solved?”
“Yep, problem solved!” Teijou stated, and the redhead could hear him smiling widely at that. “Trust me, Ei. He’s a problem solver, I tell you… that soon to be wedding planner of ours!”
“Cool, I can’t wait to meet him then.”
