Chapter Text
The snake has never thought that a crow and a butterfly could love him, but oh boy how wrong he was. The snake already made a bad impression to the other species for scooping down their talents, well I mean, the crow did stay by his side, but the butterfly? Well it was the snake's roommate, so they'd eventually be bonded together due to their situation despite their clashing personalities. And all of this soon formed a friend group between the snake, the butterfly, the crow and the chameleon whom the butterfly invited.
Damon sighed as he tapped his pen, dotting the blank page on his notebook. He noticed Kai and Eva's recent advances from last month, the way the two were almost with him every second of the day. The way that they glared at each other if he gave the other more attention, he also noticed that they took his interest by heart. Like, he has 10 notebooks and 17 snake related plushies, keychains and posters from the two.
Damon's not the nicest person, it's obvious why, but he's not all that irredeemable as he did made amendments in the middle of the year. But to get two people to fell in love, he may not be in a relationship before but he knows that they like him based on the simple symptoms of romantically liking someone. If he had to be honest though, he liked both of them.. But he's lilithromantic and he can't just use both of them!
Damon groaned in frustration from these thoughts, he pulled his head back and looked up at the ceiling. He shouldn't be thinking about this, he had a debate competition coming up in the next two weeks! He had to lock in-
"Uh hey Damon.." Kai's tone sounded forced as he tried to force a pathetic smile, sadly he wasn't the Ultimate Actor because Damon knew that tone all too well.
"Lost your rings under something again?" He deadpanned, used to his shenanigans.
...
"Yeah.."
Damon turned to Kai and shook his head, not in the disappointed way that Kai usually knew, but he seemed amused with him.
"You owe me after this."
Damon smiled, he was expecting Kai to reply by now, but he didn't? This confused Damon,
"Uh is something wrong-"
"No it's just.. I don't usually see you having a different kind of smile.?"
A different kind of smile?
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Well I mean- I've seen you smile around me before, but their usually just smirks or grins, never a full on genuine smile."
Kai explained sheepishly while he rubbed his neck. Ah, that makes sense. Maybe Damon is just used to Kai's presence by now.
"Hm, I guess so."
"Uno."
Eva announced, she now has one uno card on her hand left. The previous card was a reverse so she put her last card on the table and automatically one. Damon sighed in defeat as he leaned back onto the chair, placing his remaining cards onto the table. How did he even get into this situation? He thought Eva wanted to discuss something private with him in her room. Eva smirked in satisfaction as she twirled a loose strand of her hair and looked at him in satisfaction.
"C'mon don't be like that, Damon. It's just a game."
"And the last time we played monopoly with Kai and Diana you ended up raging."
With that comment, Eva's smug features faltered suddenly, she rolled her eyes to cover up her embarrassing call out.
"Want another round?
Eva quered, her eyes glistening with the thrill of wanting to one up Damon again. Damon refused, shaking his head more times than he could count.
"Nuh uh after the tricks you pulled me into from the last five games, I refuse."
He retorted, crossing his arms on his chest and turning his head away from Eva's view.
"Hm, someone's salty."
"Nuh-uh."
"Yuh-uh."
Damon stuck his tongue out in response and Eva snorted at his childish antics.
"You know I never thought we would get along like this, Damon. I always saw you as someone hard to open up, but I guess I shouldn't judge a book by it's cover after all.
Damon blushed at Eva's comment, well he noticed that he's been putting his guard down around her and a few others.. Did he really have anything to say, not really, so he didn't reply. Eva noticed his lack of response,
"I didn't mean it in a bad way, it's just.. Nice to get to know you. After all, your the only one who truly stayed by my side even after I lied about my ultimate."
"Well I think that's because I was also outcasted like you."
"But still, your the first person who saw me more than my lies and talent."
Eva confessed with a soft smile with red flushing through her cheeks, her words were genuine and Damon was happy to see her be self-assured with herself.
"You know Damon, sometimes I feel like-"
Before she could continue through her heartfelt confession between her and Damon, she stopped herself.
"I.. Nevermind, let's watch Kubz Scouts."
Eva abruptly changed the subject as she took out her phone to search the youtuber up. Damon noticed the change but didn't comment, he knew all too well. But he wasn't sure if he's ready for that kind of commitment.
The butterfly and the crow have similarities; Their wings, their toxins and their mimicry. But that's it, they have less in common and it's obvious from the start. The crow uses it's wits and defend itself as they're left hurt, while the butterfly uses is charisma and leaves itself to be attack. They're basically on the opposite spectrum, yet they still fell inlove with a lone serpent who done nothing but just exist in their lives.
Damon sighed, leaning his head against the airplane's window as it watched it departure, he listened to whatever music he has on his ear phones. Although, his mind was still boggled with his relationships with Eva and Kai, he knew he can't just let it drag on. But he doesn't know how to confront it, they're the only true friends he has. I mean, Diana's there too, but they're not even close.
Diana..
You know, when he thinks about it, she has been picking up on the tension between the three. And, she's also close to Kai and Eva.. Maybe he should seek her guidance? Maybe ask from Toshiko too?
