Chapter 1: Night Terror and Surprise

Chapter Text

Ayase Seiko, Ayase Momo, Takakura Ken, Enjōji Jin, Shiratori Aira, Turbo Granny, Mantis Shrimp, and Chiquitita had just finished making the house and were saying their goodbyes. Ken, Okarun, as Momo calls him, and Momo, dubbed Miss Ayase by Ken, say their awkward goodbyes, but Momo swears she saw behind Okarun's round glasses a flicker of his eyes going dark with regret and loneliness. Momo decided to keep quiet about it. If something was wrong, he'd tell her, right?

Okarun starts walking home. Can he even call the apartment he owns because his parents want nothing to do with him at home? No, he can't go home; that's where the people who love and care about you are. A home is where you feel comfortable and safe, in a place you look forward to going to when you have a bad day. A home is where you want to be. He can't call the apartment home for him. He just sleeps and eats there, nothing else, well, maybe reading and doing work, but he digresses.

Okarun dragged his feet as he walked, dreading going to his apartment. He felt bad for wishing that Miss Ayase's house was still falling apart because, at least, he was happy to be there. Happy to finally call a place home, and he had to leave and sleep at a place he can't call home.

Okarun opens the door to his apartment, dropping his bag near the door and taking off his shoes. Okarun walked to his room and changed his clothes into a plain t-shirt and sweatpants. He grabbed his phone from his discarded school uniform pants. He flopped onto his bed and lay there for a second before he finally turned onto his side, plugged up his phone, and got on it, just scrolling on social media. Okarun was starting to get sleepy, so he got under his blankets and turned off his phone. He was grateful that he decided to leave his lights off instead of turning them on, so he doesn't have to get up to turn the lights off when he goes to bed. Okarun fell asleep to the thought of him finally being able to fill at home, but knowing that won't happen for a while.

Tossing and thrashing in his bed, Okarun was sweating heavily, having a night terror, which was quite often and expected. Waking up out of breath, anxious, and shaking, he lies there while he calms himself down before turning to his phone that was lying on his bed since he was too lazy to put it on his nightstand. When he checked the time, he sighed loudly before laying it back down on his bed and turning to lie on his back, looking at the ceiling. He lay his arm over his eyes, exhausted from the constant night terrors. He started to realize that while he was at Miss Ayasa's home, he never once had a nightmare, even though he had stayed there for almost a week. That was unusual since he won't go two days without a night terror, but with Evil Eye happening, he never even realized that he wasn't having nightmares.

Okarun decided he was way too tired for this revelation and got comfortable and went back to sleep, hoping he wouldn't have a night terror. Falling asleep within minutes, not having a night terror again that night.

07:30 am

Okarun was woken up by the alarm going off on his phone telling him to get up. He turned the alarm off, checked his notifications, and noticed that Miss Ayase got a temporary flip phone that she found when she had walked back into her room, which she used to have before getting her now destroyed phone. Okarun smiled at the message before responding, saying how happy he was that she had gotten a phone so they could message each other now.

Okarun got ready as he messaged Miss Ayase back and forth. As he started to head out of the apartment, Miss Ayase asked a question that he wasn't expecting.
