Chapter Text

Eren groaned as his phone began vibrating just before its ringtone blared through the room.
“Who in the hell…” Eren mumbled wondering who would be calling at this ungodly hour.

As he unlocked his phone, his eyes were too sore to adjust to the sudden brightness emitting from the screen so he answered without a thought for who the caller may be.
“Whoever you are, you better have a good reason for calling at three am!” He barked, half assed.

“Oh..” The caller replied while clearing his throat. “I’m sorry..I forgot about the time difference.”

“Levi??” Eren asked, sitting up, voice still heavy with sleep.

He’s welcomed by silence, not a sound coming from the other end. He’s about to say hello when he hears Levi clear his throat again on the other end.
“Are you alright?” He asked, worry present throughout him due to Levi’s suddenness.

He’s never called before sounding so lost.
“I was just…” Levi began. “I’m sorry…Jesus fuck this is stupid I’m just gon-”

“Please don’t go” Eren pleaded, knowing Levi was about to hang up in a frenzy.

When it was clear that the other had stayed on the line, Eren looked to his wrist to see a message. It was strange, usually Levi wrote in English to Eren, but it was written in Kanji..spiking his curiosity.
“What did you message?”

“Nothing.” Replied Levi very quickly, too quickly to satisfy Eren’s curiosity.

But he respected Levi at this moment, something was clearly wrong and if he didn’t want to talk about it right now. He’ll find out later what the message says.

“Why did you call me, Levi?”

“Why are we soul mates?” Countered Levi. “Logically, it makes no sense. I don’t understand.”

Hurt, Eren didn’t know what to say. Is Levi disappointed with me? He thought to himself.
“Logically it makes no sense, yet I can’t fucking stand it when we’re not talking. I feel like screaming that I can’t hold you, or touch you, or talk face to face.”

“Levi..” Eren breathed.

“No don’t. I called you because I wanted to hear your voice but now I’ve called you I think im going to cry if I hear your voice.”

Eren suddenly felt his whole body ache with want, not with lust, but with an ache. He ached to feel Levi’s arms around him, he wished things were different. That they didn’t live continents away from each other.

“God, I hate this.” Levi spoke again.

“I know..I’m sorry..maybe if fate had been kinder and your soul ma-”

“Don’t even say what I think you’re going to say, Eren.” Interrupted Levi. “I’m sorry..I’m just frustrated. I wish you were here..or I was there..or..ugh something..”

Silence began to be the dominance as seconds passed..Eren wasn’t sure of where to go from here. It had now been months since himself and Levi began talking, they had accepted it was the connection between soul mates, and had figured out it was back when Eren had been touring in Japan. But they hadn’t been able to meet since.
“I’m sorry..” Began Levi.

“What??”

“I don’t know, I just had tantrum over you saying sorry. God, I’m sorry this is ridiculous.”

“No it’s not, I’m so thankful we crossed paths even for a second, all those months ago.”

Eren could hear Levi exhale a shaky breath, letting him know that he was smiling.
“I’m thankful too.”

“We’ll make this work, Levi. I know we will.”

“Thank you..” Levi replied.

“There’s nothing to be thanking me for, I’d make it work even if you were horned vampire with crazy teeth!!!!” Eren exclaimed, letting his head get away from him.

Levi let a bubbly laugh get away from him, suddenly feeling so much better. As his laughter subsided, Levi spoke up.
“I love you”

“What??” Sputtered Eren, not expecting to hear something like that.

“That’s what the message said”

“Ohh..” Eren replied, elation filling his body. “You fuxking sap.”

Levi let out another bubbly laugh, so content with that reply. It was so very Eren.
“I love you too.” Eren replied with a smile once Levi’s laughter died down.

“Yeah?” Levi said with a smile back.

“Yeah. You feeling better now??”

“I am..I’m sorry for calling so late. I’ll let you go to sleep now..”

“Nono, let’s talk for a little longer.” Pleaded Eren.

And they did, both content with each other and waiting for the day they could finally be together in person.

Chapter Text

It had just passed ten pm in the evening and Eren had found himself wallowing on his sofa. On a night when he had no distractions were the times missing Levi hurt the most.
Sitting on his sofa, half-attempting to concentrate on the television and with a glass of red wine on the table, he brought his knees into his chest and sighed.
Eren couldn't afford to leave for Japan because of work, studio days have stretched to a thirteen-hour work day, aswell as his contract wouldn't let him take off enough time to be able to spend enough time with Levi and travel back and forth.
It was about to verge into six months since the two began talking and two months since they told each other they loved one another. Each night that went by, the feeling of loneliness kept growing.
The pair skyped and called as often as they could, but virtual contact doesn't beat physical. He just wanted to be able to hold Levi in his arms.

Sighing in exhaustion, Eren picked up his phone.

E: You busy? X

As he put down his phone beside him, it chimed.

L: Not at all. You alright, love?

E: I wish you were here X

Eren sighed as he texted his response. Tears prickling his eyes.
"Get a hold of yourself" he muttered, pressing his forehead to his knees.

His phone chimed again.

L: I'm sorry, I wish I was there too.
Soon, I promise

E: Skype later? X

L: I don't think I'll be able to Skype tonight.

Eren shook his head in confusion. "Tonight? But it's the morning in Tokyo..." He whispered.

Just as he was about to reply, a knock came at the door. Slowly, Eren made his way over. Undoing the chains and main lock, Eren sighed. He didn't have the energy to face whoever was on the other side, all he wanted to do was to hop on a plane.

As he opened the door, his eyes widened. His breath caught itself in his throat. His whole frame was paralysed in its stance.

In front of him was Levi, with a suitcase by his side. Before he could kick himself back to working operation, Levi pushed forward and hugged Eren's middle. Resting his face on the others chest, breathing in his scent.

A switched flicked in Eren's head and he gently pushed Levi away to give him enough room to yank the suitcase inside and shut the door behind them.

Turning around, he felt relief to see Levi still standing there. Apart of him feeling like this had to be a dream.

The two just smiled at each other for a few seconds, taking in the fact they were in the same room.

Eren walked forward briskly and kissed Levi with all he had. Picking him up in the process, his hands under the others thighs, Levi wrapped his legs around Eren as they kissed hungrily.

As the minutes went by, Levi propped himself back to the ground. Just looking at Eren, awe in his eyes.

"Let's sit down" Eren said, taking Levi's hand as they walked to sit.

"Wine?" He asked the brunette.

"I was sad and wine is nice." He replied, eyeing their intertwined fingers. "How are you here?? Why didn't you tell me?? Oh my god, you're he-"

Levi pushed forward and kissed Eren again. With his other hand on Eren's leg, he replied. "Armin and I have been talking over the last two months, trying to make it possible for me to come here."

Eren's heart burst, he loved Armin like a brother but he couldn't believe he went to such lengths.

"How did you even get Armin's number?"

"Facebook is a wonder." Levi replied, sarcastically.

"What about work?? I'm so confused, I'm so happy, but I feel like I'll blink and you'll disappear."

Smiling, Levi moved his hand to the back of Eren's neck. "I'm not going to disappear, not for two weeks anyway. And Erwin practically kicked me out of the office when I mentioned using my leave days. He apparently thought that it was borderline insane to never use my days, but I guess I never had a reason to use them before."

"God bless Erwin," Eren smiled. Just as it appeared, the smile faded again. "But, I have work, I can't spend most of the day with you!" He sulked.

"Armin and I sorted that too, you have the next two weeks off aswell."

Confusion setting in, Eren blinked up at the ceiling. Then realisation, "that's why the studio days have been so long..."

"I'm sorry, I hope you weren't worked too hard."

"Are you kidding??" Eren replied, turning to face Levi. "Having you here makes it worth it."
He moved forward and embraced the other; arms around his neck, he pulled him down so Levi was lying on top of him on the sofa.

Looking into each other's eyes, Levi started moving side to side. Reaching for the lamp switch right by the sofa's arm, he turned the lamp on. "Holy shit." He whispered.

"Hm??" Eren questioned.

"Your eyes are beautiful, they looked gorgeous in pictures and videos, but seeing them in person. You're beautiful."

Eren blushed, not used to having someone say something like that with so much genuine awe.

"Me or my eyes?" He replied, trying to shrug off his embarrassment.

"You...and your eyes."

"I love you" Eren whispered.

"I love you too." He replied back with a blissful smile.

Bringing his hand up to the back of Levi's head, carding his fingers through his hair, Levi sighed. A sigh of relief of finally being where he's ached to be for months.
