Alright ! As many other kids did, I used to watch the PPG and I really liked this show. And one month ago, by accident, I watched a short video of the PPG on Facebook. It reminds me how much I loved the show and specifically the RRB ! Then funny ideas popped into my mind very shortly after I rewatched some episodes :D And because I always wanted the boys to have a kind of second chance and develop a friendly rivalry with the girls, those following stories are a little AU. Just remember it's for fun, and I hope you'll enjoy it.
Brick's weak point
Mojo Jojo was known for being a stubborn one and for his stupid plans. But he never really learned for his past mistakes. So, he decided to conquer the world for the umpteenth time. He stole the joyful ones and the head of Anubis for the third time. He swore to himself that the Powerpuff Girls would not defeat him this time. After all, he got something he hadn't in the past : the Rowdyruff Boys ! Ok, the boys didn't really stand with him again after they had been revived by Him, but he was still her father, right ? They had to listen to him sometimes, right ? After all, they were squatting very often in his house, even when he didn't agree. He couldn't control the boys anymore because they decided to follow their own road. Mojo was a little sad about this. He created the Rowdyruff Boys. They were his property. Unfortunately, he lost their control. Oh, of course, he could try to stop the boys by using the antidote X, but for that he had to steal it at the professor Utonium's house. And it was a difficult task. On the other hand, it would be a waste. The Rowdyruff Boys were the only ones capable of defeating in a fair fight the girls. They already succeeded once. Regularly, Mojo didn't understand why they didn't destroythe girlsfor good. For all he knew, the girls always had a backup plan. Something like that. Anyway, he thought that he could this time persuade the boys to help him handle the girls while he would take control over the world for good. He had something in his mind. And Mojo never questioned his intelligence. He should have.
Everything was set up. He stole the magical Anubis dog head in the night, knowing the girls and the boys were asleep. Yeah, the boys could be really annoying sometimes and make things difficult for him. After all, they were just small kids, and most of the time they just wanted to have fun.
So, in the morning, he rushed into the boys' room – one that they decided to make theirs without his approval – and woke them up.
- Wakey wakey boys. Daddy has good news for you, he said with a big smile on his face.
He then tore off the sheets and raised the blinds. The boys groaned. Boomer turned onto his stomach, burying his head in his pillow. Butch simply shielded his face from the light with his arms. As for Brick, he put his pillow over his face.
- Go to hell, Brick grumbled.
- That's not a way to talk to your father.
- You're not our father ! they retorted.
- Of course I'm. I'm the one who gave you life.
- That doesn't make you our father, though. You don't care about us, you just want us to destroy those stupid Powerpuff Girls, said Brick.
He emerged from under his pillow with an angry face and then threw it at Mojo's face. The latter avoided him just in time, before sneering.
- Alright, stand up now, boys. We have something important to do today.
- We ? I don't think so, retorted Brick with a smirk.
- Oh I'm pretty sure you might want to help me on this.
- And what makes you think that ? asked Brick.
- You'll see. Just come, said Mojo before leaving the bedroom with a smug smile.
For a while, the Rowdyruff Boys exchanged a sceptical look.
- What does this crazy monkey have in his mind this time ? asked Boomer.
- I dunno, but I don't trust him, replied Brick.
- Yeah. He probably wants us to fight again the girls, said Butch while yawning.
- Well, let's figure it out. We don't have any plans for today. So, let's pretend we take part in his plans, and then we'll betray him, suggested Brick.
- I'm in, replied Butch.
- Me too, said Boomer.
The three boys exchanged a knowing look before clapping their hands, all in agreement. Then, they stood up and quickly dressed up. A few minutes later, they joined Mojo in the main room of his house.
- Alright, we're in, Daddy, said Brick with his eternal smirk while crossing his arms.
- Good, simply replied Mojo ignoring Brick's sarcastic tone. Have a breakfast, boys.
He invited the Rowdyruff Boys to sit down with him at the table and enjoyed it. No one talked. Boomer was at a certain point a little distracted by a fly and dropped his slice of buttered bread on the floor, while Butch let out a burp. As for Brick, he ate with his mouth wide open, clearly his mind elsewhere. Mojo sighed inwardly, thinking that these boys had absolutely no education. Whose was the fault ? He didn't have the time to do it after all.
When the four finished up their breakfast, Mojo decided it was time to conquer the world. So, he started to laugh loudly. The boys looked at him with dismay.
- This time, he went mad, comments Brick.
- Alright. Let me explain my plan to you. I'm going to take over the world, and this time for good !
- And what are you going to do about the Powerpuff Girls ? asked Butch.
- You want us to fight them, right ?
- Yes and no. Tell me, boys… how do you feel about having dogs ?
- Huh ?
- Every father should offer a present to his children, don't you think ?
- You're not our father !
- Yeah yeah, I've already heard this before. So, as I was saying, what do you think about having dogs ?
- I dunno. This is not really fun, replied Brick while Boomer and Butch thought about it.
- And what if I said those dogs are the Powerpuff Girls ? asked Mojo with a big smile.
- Huh ? Really ? How could you do that ? asked at the same time the Rowdyruff Boys were suddenly captivated.
- Don't forget I'm the master of evil !
- Or the master of losers, Brick sneered.
The three boys then laughed loudly while clapping their hands at the same time. Mojo didn't reply; he just let out a little sigh and then murmured "He who laughs last, laughs best".
- All right. All I'm asking you is to have fun with the girls who will become dogs.
- You didn't answer. How are you going to do this ? asked Brick.
- You will see. Now sit down and watch. And when the girls show up, just hold them for a few moments.
Mojo laughed again before turning his back. This time, his plan can't fail. He has everything under control. He wasn't a fool. Furthermore, he perfectly knew he couldn't trust the boys. They would betray him at a certain point and ruin everything trying to take control or just having fun. So, his plan was very simple. He was going to transform everyone into dogs like the first time. Then, when the girls show up and try to arrest him, he'll send the boys to fight them. And while they'll be fighting, he'll transform the six of them into dogs. And so, no one would be able to stand up in his way. The boys wouldn't see the betrayal coming in time. Before realising his plan, they would already be dogs ! And he'll take for good over the world.
- I still don't know what he is planning, but I know for sure it will fail, whispered Brick at his brothers.
Boomer and Butch nodded before the three boys took a seat and watched as Mojo demanded it. The latter then started his plan. He seized Anubis's head, which he had taken care to hide from the boys' eyes until now, and activated his power.
- Oh, cool ! said Brick immediately.
- Can we play with it ? asked Butch as he was flying to Mojo.
- No ! Go back on the couch. Let me transform everyone into dogs first, replied Mojo protecting the statuette with his arms.
He activated his giant screen connected to Townsville and began to transform the people into dogs while starting to laugh. The boys were indeed fascinated by what they were watching.
- Jeez ! This is so cool, commented Brick.
- Yeah. I want to play with it too ! said Butch while sulking.
- Why don't we take it ? asked in a whisper, Boomer.
- No. Let's first let Mojo transform everyone into dogs. I want to see the Powerpuff Girls become dogs ! replied Brick in the same tone.
They didn't have to wait very long before the girls showed up. Like the last two times, they arrived by drilling a hole through the ceiling. Mojo started laughing hysterically.
- You never learn from your mistakes, Mojo Jojo, said Blossom with a victory smile.
- Oh yes, think again, mocked Mojo.
- It's over for you, added Bubbles.
- Alright ! Boys, it's your turn ! shouted Mojo.
The girls turned in time to see the Rowdyruff Boys flying towards them.
- The Rowdyruff Boys ! shouted at the same time the girls.
- What are you doing here ? asked then Bubbles.
- Well we're living here, remember ? replied Brick with a smirk.
- Only when it suits you, you mean, scoffed Blossom.
- Enough talking ! Let's fight ! said Brick with determination.
- So you paired with Mojo Jojo. Ok, girls, let's take them down, and then we'll deal with Mojo Jojo, decided Blossom.
- This is gonna be fun, said Butch who started to get itchy.
But before the fight could begin, Mojo transformed the six flying children into dogs, as he had planned from the beginning. He also made sure to be high enough and therefore out of reach of the dogs. He knew the boys would be excited about seeing the girls becoming dogs and wouldn't try to stop him before. But they clearly didn't see the betrayal coming. Mojo began to laugh more hysterically than ever. He won.
- This time, no one would be able to stop me ! he shouted in a victorious tone.
- Hey ! Wait a minute. Why didn't I turn into a dog too ? asked suddenly, the voice of Brick.
Mojo didn't take the time to watch the transformation of the six children. He was already rejoicing in his victory by turning his back on the puppies. So, he quickly turned toward the puppies and saw that indeed Brick didn't turn into a dog and was still flying in the air. Why ?
- Oh right, said Brick by clapping his hands, my main ingredient is a puppy tail. So, it doesn't work on me. Ah ah ah !
The five puppies looked at him with astonishment while Brick watched them with amusement. There were two puppies with blond hair, two with black hair, and one with orange hair.
- Let's see now. Of course, Blossom you are the only orange dog. Then… Boomer, is that you with the hair in front of your eyes ? he said before laughing.
Boomer couldn't see anything with his hair in front of his eyes. The latter barked softly, confirming that it was indeed him. Brick came to sit near him before laughing even harder. Butch approached him and tugged at his sleeve, displeased.
- Hey, it's not my fault. Let's have fun, shall we ? Take care of Bubbles and Buttercup. I will have my fun now.
- No… no no and no ! said Mojo behind Brick with anger. Everything was perfect !
He tried to transform again, Brick, but it still didn't work. The boy didn't care and was still watching his brothers. He looked at Boomer more closely, thinking about what he could do to help him with his hair.
- Oh, I know. Don't move, I'll fix it for you.
And he took out a hair tie from his pocket before putting his hair in a ponytail. He burst out laughing, but at least Boomer could now see something.
- So actually, I have five puppies for me, said Brick with joy, who clearly doesn't care about Mojo who was still angry and frustrated.
Butch and Boomer started to bark at him, unhappy, before paying attention to the girls. Blossom backed away while growling at Brick. He rose again into the air while approaching her with a big smile. He would have his revenge this time. On their side, Boomer and Butch were in front of Bubbles and Buttercup. The four dogs were watching each other in the eyes, all while growling and showing their teeth. Then, they started to attack each other. Boomer quickly took advantage of Bubbles, while Buttercup and Butch were more or less of equal strength. As the fiercest fighters of each team, they were obviously strong dogs. But without their powers, the fight won't last very long. Brick still had a big smile on his face. This was so pleasant that he wanted to take his time to enjoy this situation. Blossom could only back away and growl, showing her teeth. Brick slowly approached her, and very soon she found herself cornered against a wall.
- Let's see… What should I do with you ? asked Brick.
Blossom simply barked angrily in return. Brick looked at her with amusement before bursting into laughter.
- In fact, yes, this situation is so much fun, said Brick in response to Blossom.
Blossom then widened her eyes, surprised. She barked again.
- Of course I understand you. I can talk to dogs. Didn't hear you ? My main ingredient is a puppy tail ! Anyway, I just had a wonderful idea. Come here !
He then pounced on her. Blossom tried to escape, but Brick easily caught her by one of her hind legs. He then lifted her into the air, suspending her in the void. Blossom couldn't do anything. Without her powers, she was no match for Brick. She could try to bite him, but she knew the boy wouldn't let her. She was his toy. Furthermore, she could only watch Bubbles and Buttercup fighting Boomer and Butch. Boomer had taken advantage of Bubbles. He was sitting on her back while she was trying to escape. Buttercup and Butch were starting to get tired. They turned around, growling.
- What would happen if I let you down ? mocked Brick.
She could only moan softly, hoping that Brick wouldn't carry out his idea. Unfortunately, she knew all too well that the boy was cruel. She risked getting really hurt falling from that high. Unfortunately for her, Brick let her go with a snicker. But before she hit the ground, he caught her by the tail, making her scream in pain.
- Oh ? Did I hurt you ? I'm sorry, babe.
Buttercup tried to help her, but Butch stopped her by blocking her path. Behind the puppies and Brick, Mojo had stopped shouting. He was now watching the fight between the girls and the boys. His plan wasn't a total failure after all. Brick was maybe still himself, but he was too busy bullying Blossom to remember he was there. A child will always remain a child, with or without powers. But after a while, he thought anyway he should take care of him. Brick will eventually get tired of torturing Blossom and may want to stop him after. So, he left the room without a word.
Meanwhile, Brick was still roughing up Blossom. She had managed to bite him once, but it hadn't had much of an effect. The boy had simply gotten angry and shaken her a bit more. Suddenly, he stopped being rough with her. Blossom, who was now a little dizzy and had closed her eyes, reopened them. She looked at Brick with astonishment. He stared at her for a long time, a strange expression on his face. Did he still have another twisted idea to torture her ? But as she feared the worst, he gave her a big hug, holding her close with unexpected tenderness.
- Raaaaaaaaaaaaah ! Stop looking at me with this vacant stare, he said in a softer tone.
Bubbles, who was still struggling against Boomer to escape, stopped and watched Brick in astonishment. And so, Boomer. Buttercup and Butch did the same. All of them were watching Brick as he had gone crazy. They then exchanged a look, trying to understand. Bubbles could finally get free, but she was now sitting on her buttocks, next to Boomer.
Mojo chose this moment to reappear with a big gun in his arms. Fortunately, Blossom saw him behind Brick's shoulder. She then let out a small bark as a warning. Brick turned around just in time to avoid Mojo's shot. He immediately wore a furious expression. He released Blossom before intercepting Mojo's weapon with superhuman speed.
- You shouldn't do that, he said angrily before destroying the gun with his heat vision.
He punched Mojo in the face and knocked him to the ground with a kick. Then, he grabbed him by his cape and locked him in his room.
- I know it, he would try to arrest us. Stupid monkey !
Boomer approached him and started barking before showing him the central tower, where Mojo had placed Anubis' head at its top. Brick raised his head and looked in her direction before smiling.
- No, I have no intention of destroying it. Not yet, he replied.
The four puppies looked at each other before barking at him, unhappy. And before they could add anything, Brick had already taken Blossom into his arms. He hugged her affectionately again, much to everyone's surprise.
Boomer and Butch thus discovered that their brother liked dogs. As for the girls, they discovered on their side that Brick wasn't just arrogant, short-tempered and a bully. Even a boy with such a bad temper could be affectionate and childish. All it took was finding his weak spot. Surely, Blossom won't risk forgetting it in the future.
I really like the idea that Brick can't be transformed into a dog because of his main ingredient, lol. I found the inspiration from a fanart where Brick is the only one who doesn't become a dog. And as we say in French, "jamais deux sans trois" (things always come in threes), I thought it would be funny that Mojo tried for the third time to transform everyone into dogs.
