Fatal Flaw

Summary:

What if Percy Jackson had died during the Titan War?
Nico didn't ask to be the eldest child of the Big Three. He didn't ask for Percy to die.
And he certainly didn't want to be the 'Chosen One' to fight Kronos and probably- definitely- get killed in the process.
Meanwhile, the Doors of Death have been opened. The giants are returning. With so much on the line, and battling his own personal issues, is the fate of Olympus in good hands?

Chapter 1: NICO

Chapter Text

A half-blood of the eldest gods

Shall reach sixteen against all odds

And see the world in endless sleep,

A hero’s soul, cursed blade shall reap.

A single choice shall end his days

Olympus to preserve or raze.

Fatal flaws had never scared Nico, before.

              Perseus- ambition.

              Odysseus- arrogance.

              Theseus- recklessness.

For a long time, fatal flaws were just things Nico read in books. They seemed faraway, unassuming, all bark and no bite. How could someone be killed from a fatal flaw? Wouldn’t they be more careful, or less arrogant if it could save their life?

Grudges, Bianca had said to him. A child of Hades’ fatal flaw is holding grudges.

Hah. As if that would kill him.

The thought did come- almost tentatively, though. Nico knew not to underestimate fate, or flaws. Or prophecies.

A half-blood of the eldest gods

Shall reach sixteen against all odds…

Nico banged his fist against the wall of the cabin. No. Don’t think about that. Think about the prophecy, and then he’d think about Percy.

The real hero.
