Uma Musume: Heroic Derby

Summary:

An experiment gone wrong sends Midoriya Izuku to the world of Uma Musume, where students dream of reaching the top of the racing world. With nothing but time on his hands until he can return home, Midoriya has chosen to help the students of Tracen Academy in any way he can, as any hero would.

Now if only the girls he were trying to help wouldn't stop giving him such strange looks all the time...

Chapter 1: Prologue: A Hero's Welcome

Chapter Text

This... is Tracen Academy.

Here, promising young uma musume gather to train as racers, their hearts filled with dreams of glory found in the Twinkle Series.

Together with their schoolmates, they spend their days training both body and mind...

And after the decision to create the URA finale, it seems that more than just racing is about to change...

"Director Akikawa, are you certain about this? Creating an entirely new racing event so abruptly?" Her secretary Tazuna asked. They had spent the entire afternoon laying out the foundation for what this race would look like, the young academy director insistent on making this race a reality.

"Verily! I already explained that I want uma musume of all different skills and specializations to be able to thrive, and the URA Finale will be perfect for this! We will make this race! We will if I must use my own personal finances if I must so that my beloved students may shine!"

"Please do not dive into your personal finances again. I understand your passion but there is a smarter way to finance an entirely new event." No matter how much money Director Akikawa had to her name, creating an entirely new event not only requires setting up a track, venue, marketing, accommodations, but also staff. More specifically, trainers.

"An event greater than any race before will need trainers willing and capable of preparing umas not only for their preferred races but also this new race. We have a working timetable of three years but how many trainers will have to change training plans to accommodate this new race?  That doesn't even begin to consider if any of our students will be willing to sign up for the URA or meets its potential qualifiers on such short notice." Tazuna began to explain. Akikawa was about to speak up to create a counterargument when suddenly...

VOOOM

A bright light suddenly began to shine down on them, the pair looking upwards to see a man-sized spiral form above them, glowing brightly as a figure flew out before it vanished as if never there at all.

"Uh... you did see that too... yes?" Akikawa asked, Tazuna nodding alongside her. The figure that fell from the portal landed in a small crater nearby, the pair walking up slowly to inspect the scene.

Lying in the center of the crater was a young man, roughly nineteen years old. His outfit was weird, comprising of a dark green bodysuit with white and yellow-orange accents, a ripped yellow cape, long black legwear, and white gloves on top of red sleeves.

The young man let out a light groan, rising from his crater and pulling out a notebook from a yellow backpack.

"I probably should have listened to Aizawa-sensei, but I didn't think Hasume-san would actually figure out artificial teleportation!" He looked around, eyes widening when he saw two pairs of wide eyes staring at him. "O-Oh! Um... I'm sorry about the mess! I was helping out a friend and a lab accident sent me to... wherever I am." He jumped out of the crater. He was about to activate One for All, stopping due to a buzzing in one of his pouches. He opened it up and pulled out his phone, noticing that Mei was on the line.

"Ten Million?" She asked, voice nervous.

"Yes?" He replied, a massive sigh of relief on the other end.

"Oh thank God I didn't accidentally vaporize you. Also bonus points to me for modifying your phone when you forgot it here last time you helped me with my babies."

"Why did you think you vaporized me? Your teleporter worked! Wait- what do you mean you modified my phone?" Nervous chuckles came from his phone.

"I kinda... sorta... modified it to accept frequencies on an interdimensional scale? Don't ask me how I did it I was deep in three liters of black coffee, protein bars, and a five day streak without sleeping."

"Mei, that bender was right before Power Loader made me your personal caretaker. That was last year."

"Yep! From what it sounds like you aren't in any danger right now, so I'll just say that all the stuff that was used to warp you to where you are now is kinda fried? I accidentally crossed a few wrong wires and short circuited UA's power grid so it may take a while until I can get you back here."

"You don't need to. I can just fly back to UA."

"Uh... Ten Mil- Midoriya." The sudden use of his name had him really focus now. "Why did I think you were vaporized for a moment? Additionally, why did I tell you that your phone takes signal from interdimensional frequencies?" Izuku paused.

"Please tell me you didn't do what I think you're implying..."

"That my teleportation experiment accidentally led to me discovering that other dimensions not only exist but they can be traveled to, making me the de facto greatest mind in human history when I eventually figure out how I did it to get you back here?"

"Yeah, uh, that."

"Oh no yeah I absolutely just did that. Again you don't sound like you're in danger or anything so just think of it like a vacation! You kinda deserve one after Shigaraki and All for One pulled an ouroboros and ended up killing each other." A conflicted look popped onto his face, a sigh coming out a second later.

"Yeah... you're right. I'll try and take it easy while I get my bearings." He looked around. "The architecture around me doesn't seem blatantly Japanese but the posters and advertisements I can see around me seem to be. Hopefully yen exists here." He reached for his wallet, noting that he had a few thousand yen on hand just in case. What form of currency existed in this new land? Was this a frequently used area or was it a new relic of a society just recently crumbled? If not, did that make him an alien worthy of study by a government organization? Before he could begin muttering to himself Mei's voice rang out again.

"Unless something really important and potentially life threatening happens I'm going to focus on trying to fix up the baby that sent you wherever you went. Oh, and fix UA's power grid. I should probably do that first. Later Ten Million!" The call ended abruptly, Izuku putting his phone back in the pouch, just now looking up and seeing two very nervous women staring at him.

"O-Oh! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to cause this massive hole. I can fix it in a moment if you don't mind. Wait, even if there's kanji and hiragana here that doesn't immediately imply that the language is spoken here." He began to mutter to himself about the nuance of languages, stopped only when the smaller of the pair cleared her throat.

"W-Well met! I am Yayoi Akikawa, the director of this school, and this is my secretary, Hayakawa Tazuna."

"H-Hello there mysterious stranger. What brings you to our academy?" The brown-haired woman asked Midoriya smiling to himself with the knowledge that they spoke Japanese.

"It seems that I was sent here on complete accident by a friend of mine. I can leave after I fix this if I'm scaring you."

"Nonsense!" The shorter of the pair suddenly exclaimed. "While we couldn't hear the other person on your phone I did hear that you are a Japanese citizen, yes?" Izuku nodded in response. "And from your first action being concern for property damage, would it be incorrect for me to assume that you are here with malicious purpose?"

"O-Of course not! I can explain some of my story if you want, just let me fix this first."

"It's alright sir, I can organize a team for repairs inst-"

FWOOOSH

"Eh?" A mass of dark tendrils sprouted from his body, green sparks amplifying his speed as he created a makeshift excavator to gather all of the disturbed earth from his landing and filled the crater in barely a few seconds.

"See? No problem at all!" He said, only to be met with wide-eyed silence from the duo.

"We can um... set you up with a spare room here in the academy but if I may ask... what was that?" Tazuna asked. At that moment Izuku's eyes widened, the spoken Japanese causing the young hero to completely forget that he was in an entirely separate dimension.

"Well..."

...The Next Day...

"Oguri Cap, TM Opera O, Super Creek, Agnes Tachyon, Maruzensky, and Symboli Rudolf, please report to the practice field. Repeat, please report to the practice field."

"Oh my, I wonder what this is about?" Super Creek asked, dressed in training gear alongside the other girls.

"Surely it is an opportunity to reveal my greatness to an even greater audience! Oh ho! I accept thy challenge, and shall strive to reach even greater heights!" TM Opera O exclaimed, spinning around in a boisterous fashion.

"It must be rather important if all of us were called." Symboli Rudolf said beside them. "Let us see what the staff want before making any assumptions."

"Well whatever it is, it seems like quite the experiment if some of Tracen's fastest are being assembled. Well, aside from that class rep." Agnes Tachyon said, eyes focused as if looking for new specimens for study.

"I passed by her on the way here. She was yelling her name over and over again while running through the halls. Maybe she was hungry? It is almost lunch after all." Oguri Cap added, patting her stomach. As the group got closer they could see the director and Tazuna standing there, alongside a man with green hair wearing a jumpsuit with quite a few strange additions to it.

"A new trainer maybe? I don't know why he's in such strange clothing but if we're getting a new trainer then I'm going to make sure I'm running at full throttle!" Maruzensky said, staying close to Rudolf's side.

"Welcome, beloved students!" Director Akikawa yelled out, the six of them now gathered in front of the practice track. "You may wonder why I gathered you all here." They nodded. "It is for good reason! We have a visitor that we are allowing to stay at the academy for currently undisclosed reasons, and from what Tazuna and myself have witnessed he has potential to be a major influence on our academy!"

"So I gather that we are to race so that he can gauge our potential?" Rudolf asked, only to receive a boisterous laugh from their director.

"To a degree you are correct! However! You will not simply be racing to impress a potential trainer. You will instead be racing against him!"

"Wait, what?!" The man said, eyes wide as his snapped towards the director.

"Um... but he's not an uma musume. He's a human guy." Oguri said.

"The physiology of uma musume are very distinctly specialized for enhanced physical ability. I assume that he is currently wearing something that enhances his physical ability to the extent that it may make him actually capable of matching the speed of one of us?" Tachyon asked, giving an approving look at the stranger furiously writing in a notebook.

"If that is so then I accept! If this man has the potential to claim the spotlight, then besting him in a race shall allow my own light to shine all the greater for it! I say that he race!" Opera said, hands on her hips in a dramatic fashion.

"I'm a little worried about racing against a normal human, but he looks so earnest that I can't help but want to accept! I will race as well." Super Creek added.

"A cool cat like that has got to have something up his sleeve. Let's see what he's made of!" Maruzensky agreed.

"I do not understand why we are racing against a human, but I will represent Tracen Academy in this race." Rudolf said.

"I haven't raced against a human before. This would be a good opportunity to directly observe any strange phenomena this man may possess. I shall join this race." Tachyon agreed.

"Well... okay I guess." Oguri said simply.

"Sublime! Now, to the starting gates everyone!" The umas made their way to the starting gates, taking one last look back when they heard Tazuna's voice.

"Midoriya-san." The now named man looked up from his notebook at the secretary's call.

"Yes Tazuna-san?"

"I know that you would much rather keep your particular set of skills hidden, but the director and I believe that bringing our dear students into the fold will create a strong relationship between you and everyone here at Tracen Academy. I sincerely apologize for forcing you into this situation but please understand that this will help everyone in the long run." That last statement made Izuku think for a moment, giving her a nod as he went to join the now confused girls at the starting gates where he made his first real observation.

'They're so tall!' They reminded him of Ippan Josei from back home, each girl nearly the size of an actual horse from his world. His mind immediately wandered to quirks again, wondering what an uma musume's physical abilities would translate to as proper quirks before realizing that he was about to run in a footrace against them.

'Alright, let's try running quirkless first. I can save One for All for when I get a better understanding of their capabilities.' He walked up to the starting line, noting that he was standing next to Super Creek.

"Midoriya-san, was it?" Izuku nodded. "Let's have a good race, okay?"

"Yes, of course!"

"As unusual as these circumstances are, treat this as if you are doing a professional race. Now then, are you all ready?" The umas' expressions shifted, pure focus filling each and every one as they mentally shifted their attention away from the strange man and instead focused entirely on the track in front of them. Izuku decided to take a page from their books.

While he wasn't familiar with racing professionally, he instead envisioned a long road leading towards people in need.

'They need your help. Be fast enough to save them all.'

"Ready?" Izuku took a deep breath, hands touching the ground in a runner's stance.

"Start!" Maruenzky took off like a supercar, the rest rushing forward but not overtaking her yet. Izuku decided to try and keep up with the front runner, taking off in a similar burst of speed.

After the first corner he was just one length behind the pace chasers, the more metallic footsteps of his iron soles causing them to look back in surprise.

'He can already keep up with this much?' Rudolf thought. 'What else is this human capable of?'

'What a peculiar specimen. He would be a very interesting guinea pig if he can keep up with our final spurt.' Tachyon thought, smiling as she focused on the race again.

'He's... fast.' Oguri thought. 'Are humans supposed to be able to do that?'

'Oh, he can keep up with this much? How wonderful!' Super Creek gave a motherly smile as she turned forward again. 'This interesting man... Please keep up when we reach the final spurt! I want to see more of what you can do!'

'You can keep up with an uma musume? Splendid! Show me your truest speed, human! Let my brilliant radiance shine upon you so that I may find another worthy rival!' Opera grinned as she started to fall to the back of the pack near him. Oguri and Tachyon moved towards the outside as they crossed the first corner, Super Creek and Symboli Rudolf staying on the inside.

Maruzensky remained at the very front, her lead only growing larger as she began to increase distance on the straightaway.

'All right! Just need to make sure I'm not burning too much stamina when they all start kicking it into high gear and I should be able to take this!' She thought. 'I wonder how that guy who wanted to race is doing? Is he keeping up with the others in the back?'

The straightaway continued without a hitch, Izuku at the back while the other racers prepared themselves. The final corner was coming up, and so far it still seemed like an entirely normal race with the exception of Izuku now just about at pace with TM Opera O at the back of the group. His observational skills kicked in as he noticed that the air began to change. Maruzensky began to speed up even more, Super Creek's eyes narrowed ever so slightly, Oguri Cap leaned forward a small amount, Symboli Rudolf's strides began to widen, Agnes Tachyon began to grin like a madwoman, and TM Opera O grinned. Bursts of speed began to change the placement of the race, with Opera immediately shooting up next to Oguri and Maruzensky at the front of the pack with the other three umas not that far behind.

'Each one of them is taking this so seriously... is this the kind of racing that has taken over this world?' Izuku's eyes were filled with wonder as he saw the racers ahead of them begin their final spurts, each and every one showing off why there were selected for this demonstration. 'No more than five percent should be just enough to avoid causing excessive damage. Alright... it's only fair that I show off what I can do as well!' He smiled, and began to feel a familiar power well up within his chest.

'Come on... I can see it! Just floor the pedal a little bit longer! I can see the finish line right up ahead!' Maruzensky thought. Opera, Oguri, and Rudolf were right on her tail, but if she held on for just a little longer she could still just barely keep the lead and-

A bright green light began to glow from behind them, the sound of sparking electricity filling the air.

Six sets of eyes widened in shock as the strange man from earlier materialized in front of the pack, a trail of footprint-shaped craters in the turf circling around the entire pack and leading to Izuku's current position at the front just a small distance ahead of the lead.

'What the blazes?!' Opera's jaw dropped for a moment as the strange man suddenly appeared in front of everyone, her surprise shifting into a manic grin. 'Midoriya was his name, correct? I must share in this mysterious stranger's spotlight! Push even harder, o legs of mine! Burst forth and seek glory that only an overlord shall claim!'

'Oh my! What speed!' Super Creek thought, her expression sharpening. 'The yellow cape, the dynamic colors, it makes Midoriya-san look like some kind of superhero.' Her expression darkened, her steps thundering down the track as she tried to keep up. 'But if he really is a hero, then at least for this final burst, I'll become the villain to oppose him!'

'Fast! How is he so fast?!' Oguri nearly tripped in surprise, using her unorthodox running style to just barely stay balanced as she fought to keep up with this surprising new challenge. 'No matter how fast this Midoriya guy is, I won't lose!'

'Holy cow! His name was Midoriya, right? He really crushed the gas pedal!' Maruzensky thought. 'Alright daddy-o, let's see if you can carry this out to the end!'

'Midoriya... what the hell are you?! What could possibly allow for movement like this? What manner of science could possibly explain a human running that fast?!' Thousands of theories and scientific explanations came and passed in the blink of an eye, none of them being able to even comprehend what was transpiring right in front of Tachyon's eyes. 'No matter. I can ask questions later, but for now this body shall claim victory!'

'What tremendous speed!' Rudolf thought, not even slowing down for a moment. 'It doesn't matter how fast you run, Midoriya. How may I call myself Emperor, nay, how can I even think to become the one who will lead uma musume into a world where everyone can live in true happiness if I can't even take on this challenge in front of me?!'

Each one seemed to gain a second wind, pushing to their absolute limits as they tried to keep up with the newcomer that overtaken them all in a single bound.

'I'll stop you here, hero!'

'I've still got gas in the tank!'

'I'll push on until the day my dream comes true!'

'I won't stop until I prove myself king!'

'Find it, find this body's natural limit... and break through to new heights!'

'I'll give my best and push through!'

Conviction rose as each girl pushed themselves to the absolute limit to beat the strange human in front of them, until one was able to break out of the battle for second place. Oguri Cap pushed past the rest, slowly beginning to catch up to the human racer. Her feet thundered down the track, velocity and acceleration working hand in hand carrying her closer and closer until she was just barely outside of arm's reach.

'I just need to hold on for a little bit longer. If I can keep this up I might just be able to steal the lead!' Her legs worked in perfect unison with her mind, pushing her closer and closer until Midoriya... disappeared?

'He was just here, where did he-'

"Alright, five percent was good, but ten should still be safe enough to not sabotage the others."

The muttered voice came from everywhere at once as a gust blew past Oguri on her right, her eyes widening like dinner plates as she turned to look and only saw green sparks. As she began to turn back another gust blew past her, the corner of her eye picking up a flash of yellow and green. 'What's happening?' She looked back for a moment to see Midoriya at the back of the pack despite Oguri knowing that she had not seen him pass behind for even a second. He met her eyes, giving her a smile packed to the brim with determination as he vanished in midair again, that electric flash passing by one more time to let Oguri realize what was going on.

'He... lapped us? HE LAPPED US?!?!' Midoriya didn't stop, one, two, three more laps around the racers occurring until the rest started to understand why he vanished. Oguri's shock slowed her down just enough for a six way tie for second place, Oguri genuinely falling over this time in her surprise.

Ka-chunk

"Are you alright?! You just fell over all of a sudden!" Her face hovered a meter above the track instead of the expected faceplant, Midoriya stopping her fall even though last she saw he had slowed down to an observable speed on the other side of the racetrack.

"How... HOW?!" Tachyon's voice suddenly rang out, her eyes wide with a mix of scientific curiosity, fear, and a hint of excitement as she ran to him with the same fierceness she ran with just moments prior. "Even excusing the fact that you somehow run at the speed of my namesake without causing a sonic boom or blowing us all away through sheer force alone, stopping that quickly without carving a trench into the turf or annihilating your own legs should be physically impossible!" She walked up to him, sweat creasing her brow as she continued on. "Somehow you violated a fundamental law of physics by obliterating the very concept of inertia just now!"

"Who... what are you?" Oguri asked, Midoriya helping her to her feet despite the size difference before he spoke.

"My name is Midoriya Izuku, and where I'm from you would probably call me a superhero." The six girls stared at him like a modern marvel, Tazuna and the Director walking up to the group.

"It would have been incredibly fantastical of a claim had we not shown off his capabilities to you six in a live demonstration!" Director Akikawa said. "Some of you are of more curious minds than others, so having Midoriya-san demonstrate his abilities prevents any unfortunately timed discoveries of what he can do."

"Midoriya-san wanted to repay us for allowing him to remain at the academy until his way home arrives, so until then he will be helping out here and there around campus."

"As long as I'm not busy at that moment, I can probably help with whatever you girls need. The offer extends to everyone else at Tracen too, but I would prefer if my quirk- I mean my superpowers weren't made public. I'd rather not deal with any extra attention than this meeting has already brought on." The six gave dumb nods, their minds still stuck at the part where an honest to God superhero was standing in front of them.

"Well, I certainly would appreciate being advised by you as a trainer." Super Creek suddenly said, shaking the other five out of their stupor. "I would be happy to help you adjust to Tracen Academy and the structure of uma musume racing." Tachyon narrowed her eyes.

"I will be requesting your presence on many occasions. I must understand exactly what it is that gives you such tremendous physics-destroying speed." Perhaps she could replicate it and truly reach beyond this body's limitations. As she thought of that Opera spun in place.

"Yes, yes! You are the one!" Opera said, striking a pose. "Training under the archetypical superhero. What else shall make my spotlight shine ever brighter! Our combined glory shall inspire all uma musume to shine ever brighter in challenge! The legacy that I will achieve under your instruction shall immortalize me in history!"

"Train me." Oguri said, voice neutral. "I don't have superpowers but I want to try to be even remotely that fast."

"Everyone, be respectful of Midoriya-san's time." Rudolf said, turning to him. "While I would prefer to be the one that you focus on training, I would still be more than happy to receive any advice from someone so extraordinary."

"Really?" Izuku asked. Rudolf began to smile a little wider.

"I believe it would be quite super, man." Izuku blinked while half the horses smiled and the other half cringed.

...One Week later...

Izuku let out a breath, closing his notebook and looking around. The week had been rather stable despite the universe hop, Izuku serving primarily as a trainer and groundskeeper at Tracen. The mobile nature of his new job allowed him to be rather social, with most uma musume treating him with respect and curiosity, primarily about his eye and hair color being different from any other human man that they knew. The few that didn't treat him that way were the six girls that had raced against him, still treating him nicely but with much more curiosity due to him revealing his quirk to them.

Speaking of One for All, Izuku had decided to be a little more adventurous with its usage compared to back home. Since this world didn't have quirks, technically speaking he had full permission to use his quirk. Not in a malicious way of course, but in a similar way to some of the overseas comics that were impossible to find due to their age back home but were rather plentiful here. Some Blackwhip to grab a few cleaning supplies while nobody was watching, a little bit of Gearshift when he was alone doing paperwork, and a touch of float to help look for items that students had lost. It was a surprising amount of fun maintaining a secret identity like in those classic overseas comic books, using his experience training with Jiro to dodge their enhanced senses while using One For All as close to discovery as possible.

He walked around a small group of students, blackwhip very carefully rising from under his collar to adjust the collar of a business suit given to him by the director. The tie was long forgotten, lest an entire dimension discover his inability to properly tie one. The tendrils retracted and he took a breath as he entered the academy's student council room.

"Symboli Rudolf-san? You requested me?" Aside from the rather fancy decor, the main thing he noticed was the other individuals in the room. A tall woman with short hair and a regal air, next to a short woman with much longer hair, a bandage across the nose, and a piece of straw hanging from her lips. Along with them was a shorter, petite girl with an air of excitement as she leaned against Rudolf's desk.

"Ah, welcome, Midoriya-san. These are my friends and fellow student council members. Air Groove is my vice president," The tallest woman have him a small nod. "And my other vice president, Narita Brian." The shorter one (which was just barely taller than him given the natural height advantage uma musume had) with the bandage on her nose tilted her head slightly up towards him.

"Don't forget me! 'Tis I, the great Tokai Teio!" The last girl said, voice filled with excitement.

"Teio here likes to hang around me, so please excuse her."

"Nice to meet you all. Rudolf-san is aware of me but my name is Midoriya Izuku, and after some events that I cannot talk about at this moment I'm helping out with odds and ends around the academy, though most of my time has been giving advice to some of students who don't have dedicated trainers." He explained.

"It's quite nice to meet you, Midoriya-san. The Emperor has spoken quite highly of you." Air Groove said, smiling slightly. "She was rather adamant that you become her personal trainer after her last practice race."

"She said that you were really strong." Brian added on, narrowing her eyes.

"I said that you would be a massive boon to aid in making my dream a reality, if you are willing."

"What kind of dream was it, Rudolf-san?" She stood up, giving him a smile as she spoke.

"One day, I want to create a world where all uma musume can be truly happy." She explained. "I don't expect everyone to follow me, but my goal is to become a symbol for any who want to share in my dream to follow. Whether it be in the joy of racing or anything else, I simply want to lead an era of true happiness for everyone." Izuku blinked. That sounded eerily familiar.

"I think I understand the feeling." He said. "Before I ended up at Tracen, I wanted to do something similar. My mentor did something similar to that, though rather than a symbol of happiness he was known as a symbol of peace." All Might crossed his mind, remembering his training sessions with the man. His face became somber at the memory of his skinny form, and of his own time wearing himself down fighting against the rising tide of villains alone after the first war.

"I wanted nothing more than to follow in his footsteps. To become the next symbol of peace, to uphold an entire era of happiness on my own."

"Did you succeed?" Rudolf asked.

"Sort of. My mentor believed that he alone could be a pillar of society, that so long as he could still stand he would be able to maintain the world that he created. When I tried to do the same I learned that as good as his heart is his methods were unsustainable." He took a breath, a hint of reverence coming to his words. "A... major natural disaster struck my home, leading to my mentor's retirement and the crumbling of the peace that he alone tried to protect. I was able to convince some friends that had believed that they were beyond saving that they were still capable of doing good, and that helped resolve the disaster while I helped deal with the source. I want to help your dream, Symboli Rudolf-san, but I want to make sure that you don't have to experience anything similar to what I did. One person can't lift up the world alone. You need to convince people that they are capable of passing on this dream as well." He smiled. "As long as someone reaches out a hand, anyone can be a hero. In this case, show your fellow students that anyone can share your dream as long as they look for their own happiness regardless of the form it takes."

The four gave him a surprised look, Air Groove smiling slightly.

"Do you hear that, Emperor? Allow us to share in your dreams. We may be your subordinates but I want us to be your equals, not children you need to watch over when you push onwards alone." She said.

"What she said." Narita Brian added, leaving Rudolf speechless for a moment.

"I... I will be sure to remember that. Thank you everyone." She turned to the human. "And thank you, Midoriya, for believing in my vision."

"You're welcome. I'm always willing to help."

"You continue to surprise me, Midoriya Izuku." Her smile grew a little more. "'Anyone can be a hero' huh? Well, I hope that you continue to be as cape-able as you've shown yourself to be in the coming days." Narita Brian let out a sigh, Teio gave a confused smile, Izuku raised an eyebrow, and Air Groove let out a deep groan of agony as she seemed to visibly melt as she cringed. "Truly, as my races improve so too shall the strength of my comedy."

"Emperor, please..."

Izuku smiled. For the better tomorrow that he fought to protect, and the one that Symboli Rudolf wanted to establish today, he would help in any way he could. Until the day he could return to his world, he would start here at Tracen Academy, where uma musume gather to make their dreams come true.

Chapter 2: Experiment 01: The Price of This Body's Dream

Summary:

A few days after affirming his commitment to aiding Symboli Rudolf led Izuku to cross paths with the eccentric scientist Agnes Tachyon, where he learns of her own dreams, and the barriers in the way of making them come true.

Chapter Text

"Oi, trainer!" Years of training were suddenly kicked in as Midoriya Izuku walked through the halls, the sound of thumping footsteps rapidly approaching.

"ORA!!!" Izuku took a step back, catching the mysterious stranger by their extended legs and using the added momentum to place his attacker on the floor in a normal standing position.

"Gold Ship-san, what were you trying to do?" He asked, the umamusume of that name staring at him with a look of pure shock.

"That's now how the scene is supposed to go!" Gold Ship exclaimed, hands on her head. "I kick you, I give you a happy wave showing that I'm not trying to kill you or anything, and then the next five chapters this of fanfic are dedicated to you thinking about how awesome I am before ending in a beautiful ten thousand word smut scene where we consummate our undying love! It's all ruined now! BWAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!" She screamed in anguish, Izuku blinking with confusion at her outburst.

"Um... I-"

"I mean have you seen how people on Umatter have drawn me? I'm supposed to be the super ripped twelve foot tall amazonian femdom dream when I'm not causing aneurisms to trainers! That was supposed to be the spark of fate that would immortalize me, leading to a Cinderella-like slumber for the next ten thousand years until I am to be reawakened to fight Thraggsen Jordan after the destruction of Umatrum!" She got up and turned around.

"I WON'T FORGET THIIIIIIIIIIISSSSS!" She screamed as she ran away, leaving Izuku incredibly confused.

"What... just happened?" As he was left to his confusion he felt someone tap on his shoulder, turning around to see a long white labcoat and inquisitive eyes staring unblinkingly at him.

"There you are, guinea pig- I mean Midoriya-san. Could you come with me for a moment?" Agnes Tachyon asked, Izuku nodding.

"Sure. What do you need, Tachyon-san?"

"If you don't mind, I would like to run some tests on you. You see, I am very interested in the difference between yourself and a normal human on a biological level. Of course, I do not mean I will dissect you or anything, just a few scans and maybe a few demonstrations of your abilities if you are comfortable with that."

'I can save the special concoctions for after I understand his body's differences.' Tachyon thought to herself, guiding Izuku to her lab.

"I don't mind as long as things stay under wraps like the director said."

"But of course! I wouldn't dare ruin my own scientific intrigue by being a blabbermouth. I will warn you that there will be one witness but she doesn't say much so it should be fine." Tachyon pushed him through the door, Izuku immediately noting just now much clutter was around the room. Stacks of books and loose papers surrounded Tachyon's main workspace, room cleared only some equipment and a computer monitor with the main tower buried among the rest of the clutter. The second thing he noticed upon looking left was a petite girl cloaked under her own long black hair, a large yellow eye staring at him as she took a sip of coffee.

The third thing he noticed was the giant shadow creature draped over her shoulders, staring at him with those exact same eyes. The mysterious creature pulled away from the girl, back resting against the ceiling as it peered down at him.

"Um, hello there." Izuku said, looking at the small girl. "Manhattan Cafe-san, was it?" At least that was the name on the student files he received. She gave a nod of acknowledgment. "Cafe-san, who... is this?" He said, pointing directly at the shadowy monster staring down at him. It responded by giving him a very small wave. He waved back, Cafe's already wide eyes widening even further as she followed his gaze.

"You can... see it?" She asked. "That's never happened before."

'You know what it looks a lot like Dark Shadow if she was a shadowy horse girl instead of a shadowy bird.' Izuku thought, nodding at Cafe's question.

"What are you two talking about, Cafe-chan?" Tachyon asked, seeing the two staring at nothing. "Can he see that friend you keep talking about?" Cafe nodded again, Tachyon looking over to Izuku. "You continue to surprise me, Midoriya-san. Now, science must not wait! I must know more about your biology!" She moved over to another large stack of papers, grabbing them with the dexterity someone who's hands were covered by oversized sleeves while shuffling some sheets from the top into the middle of the piles, a move that Midoriya noticed immediately. She moved them aside to reveal a bundle of ekg sensors, and other miscellaneous medical equipment that she had acquired from a recent online purchase. One machine involved a DNA scan, to which he agreed by swabbing the inside of his nostril and placing the cotton swab into a container that Tachyon put... somewhere in the middle of the abandoned classroom she used as a laboratory.

"Now, strip!" Tachyon said, Izuku turning red and Cafe's wide eyes snapping directly towards her own.

"E-Excuse me?"

"Modesty is a social construct designed to interfere with science! Now strip! Just the shirt is enough! Perhaps there is an extra finger, or a hidden gland that separates you from the common man that I absolutely must discover!" Tachyon's eyes were wide and unblinking like Cafe's, her entire brain focused on nothing but science.

"Even something as minute as an extra toe joint may provide vital information!" Izuku smiled, knowing how that toe joint permanently changed the course of his life. He watched Tachyon prepare her workstation, his brain returning to Mei and her crazy antics, along with some of the more... personal moments they accidentally shared when she used him as a landing pad.

'Just think of it like being in her workshop again. Same attitude, same-' Tachyon got extremely close to him for a moment, muttering to herself about how the natural pigmentation of his hair and eyes could have evolved to allow for his natural green. 'Same violation of personal space.' He nodded to himself, taking a seat next to Tachyon's medical equipment and removing both his blazer and the button up underneath it.

As soon as he shrugged off the garments he saw that Tachyon, Cafe, and even the shadowy friend of the latter paused. The former stepped forward, pulling her oversized sleeves back to feel the large rough patch of skin on his right arm, her other hand trailing down to examine the scars he got from his battle against Todoroki. She looked up to see the two scars from his final battle against Shigaraki, eyes passing the large scar under his right eye to see the small hidden one that went underneath his hairline, looking back down to see that there were more on his left arm as well.

"All these scars..." Izuku let out a small breath at her observation, his voice filled with an emotion she couldn't quite place as he spoke.

"I got these saving people. I'll take on even more if there are people that need saving." He said with conviction, Tachyon nodding.

'Some of these injuries look like they should be debilitating. With how he moved in that race...' She imagined a man clad in green lightning, blood trailing down his face as his body was shattered in the protection of others against forces she couldn't even conceive of scientifically. 'He really is a superhero.' Her smile was smaller than normal, but she was no less satisfied with her current conclusion.

Her next conclusion should have followed logically, but her mind had completely glossed over it in the sudden reveal of his scars.

"Guinea pig- I mean Midoriya-san is..." Her eyes drifted off of the scars for a brief moment. "Quite muscular, isn't he?" Cafe nodded from her couch spot, her friend nodding much more fiercely. Tachyon had been so focused on analyzing his scars that she hadn't realized that his muscle fibers were tight like steel cables, his defined torso causing a slight heat to rise to her cheeks. "Surely the fitness centers built for us uma musume are able to handle someone of your caliber, correct?

"I do use the gym in the school's private training center when it's empty. I'm just glad that they have weights that match my normal limits." Tachyon's eyebrow raised, her curiosity overcoming her bashfulness.

"Those machines range into hundreds of kilograms." Izuku nodded. "Is this with or without the superpowers?"

"Superpowers?" Cafe asked.

"Don't worry about it Cafe-chan. Anyways, with or without?"

"Without." Tachyon's eyebrow raised even higher.

"That is... concerning." She said. "That puts your natural strength far above the average human by default."

"My training focused on getting my body to a stable baseline before I could use my powers. I would have, uh... exploded if my body wasn't ready to use it safely." He commented.

"I shall shelf that information for later. For now though, may I see a demonstration of some of your abilities while I fit these devices onto you?" Izuku nodded, looking over to Cafe.

"Please don't let anyone know about this. I don't really want to make it a massive deal."

"You can already see my friend, so I don't think that anything can surprise me-" Cafe immediately ate her words as dark tendrils leaked from Izuku's skin, grabbing some of the equipment to the side and aiding Tachyon in putting them on without moving a muscle. Cafe looked at her friend, the shadowy creature looking back as they both shared a single thought.

'What the hell?'

"Umazing! What can these things do? What's their tensile strength? Maximum distance? Method of control? What about this and that and pi and pa and pe and po and-"

"These tendrils have the ability to latch onto people and objects or reinforce my own musculature. I haven't fully tested the tensile strength but I can easily extend them nearly a hundred meters if not longer. I have full control but anger causes them to become more wild and they can do this and that and pi and pa and pe and po and-"

'Oh no... there's two of them.' Cafe watched as the two became unintelligible, a storm of muttering bouncing back and forth with a random puff of smoke that apparently came from the strange man's skin until the readings from Tachyon's equipment came out.

"Now let's see here." Tachyon said, immediately cutting off the current conversation on artificial limb generation and arachnid men to take a seat and read the findings. "Midoriya Izuku, you are quite the genetic anomaly! Your DNA and overall anatomy are nearly identical to that of a normal human Japanese male. Unlike a normal human though there are melanin compounds in the hair and eyes that contain unknown strands of DNA allowing for a natural green color, and overall density of the skin, muscle, and bones are more reinforced against things like extreme temperatures and blunt force trauma. Though the most interesting thing is this." She pointed to a 3D model of Izuku's DNA, showing an addition to the strain that differed compared to a standard model from a regular healthy male. "Could you please explain what this addition to your DNA is?"

"Oh, my quirk factor." Tachyon and Cafe blinked.

"Your... what?"

"Quirk factor. That's the gene that allows people to develop quirks back home. It's hereditary, and a person's family history determines what powers the child inherits, excluding a sudden mutation that completely changes the ability they develop." Izuku explained. "About twenty percent of the population has that factor dormant, leading to quirklessness being considered a medical condition despite it being the norm throughout most of human history before the rise of quirks."

"I have... so many questions about the nuances of biology in regards to the development of superpowers but I think I'll save those for another time. That aside though, is there possibly a way to synthesize powers should I come into possession of DNA with one of these quirk factors? Perhaps something like a frog mutation, or even an cricket-type ability if possible!" She asked, Izuku recognizing something in her tone that was quite familiar before memories of mindless monsters and a country in ruin filled his thoughts. Tachyon was about to press on with more questions about the potential for quirk synthesis but had stopped when she saw the look on his face.

In her eyes, Midoriya Izuku, the otherworldly enigma, was a man who upon landing had taken his situation in stride and looked at everything in Tracen with the same amount of intrigue that she had towards science. He didn't complain, but simply smiled and asked if there was anything he could do to help people.

Instead of taking her statement in stride like with everything else, he looked... angry. That wasn't quite the right term. He was angry, but it wasn't explicitly anger at her. It was anger towards something else, mixed with a profound sadness and longing.

"Midoriya-san?" He snapped out of it, his face returning to a small smile though his attempt fell rather short.

"O-Oh, I'm fine. I... it's possible, but if you have any amount of respect for life then don't. The person who figured it out back home used that knowledge to create living weapons from synthesized quirks and the amalgamated corpses of powerful individuals." He took a small breath. "I don't like thinking of things in black and white. I like to think that as much as anyone can be a hero, nobody is beyond redemption either. However, the science and the mentality currently associated with synthesized quirks is... evil. Both in the methods of its creation and for the loss of life that came from it."

"I'll keep that in mind, Midoriya-san. I'm sorry." Though her face barely changed Izuku noticed that a hint of disappointment was added to her expression, the man's smile becoming more reassuring.

"I understand what it's like to be driven by the need to learn. You to science is the same way I am to quirks, so I'll be happy to answer any questions you have. I don't think you'd do anything bad even with a more substantial sample of my DNA, but my warning is just to make sure that the mistakes that haunted my home don't get repeated here, even if accidental." With the mystical nature of One for All and his quirklessness at birth he wasn't certain that she would be able to extract anything of value regardless. He noticed that her sleeves were shaking slightly, indents in the fabric implying clenched fists as she looked down. It wasn't her looking down to the floor in shame, but towards her legs with a familiar look in her eyes. Theories already began to form as he noticed that she was lost in herself for a moment.

"Tachyon-san?" She blinked.

"O-Oh, forgive me, Midoriya-san. I was simply wondering if some of my concoctions would produce observable data considering you already possess a heavily enhanced physique. You can remove the equipment now." Izuku did as requested and put his shirt back on, leaving his tie in his inner pocket for now. As he finished buttoning up his shirt he noticed something when Tachyon stood.

'Her leg twitched.' Suddenly a lot of things began to click, Izuku holding his current expression as he spoke up.

"Tachyon-san, can we talk?"

"We already have been, Midoriya-san." Izuku's eyes narrowed in thought. How could he bring this up in a way that didn't seriously upset her? He remembered his failed attempt to reach out to Iida, letting out a puff of air from his nose.

"Tachyon-san, can we move to somewhere with more privacy for a moment?" His voice was serious enough for Tachyon to stop and for Cafe to focus on him. "I'd like to talk about something very important."

"I can leave for a while." Cafe said. "From your tone it sounds like something I would prefer to watch, but if it really is a private matter I will leave you to your conversation." She left, her friend giving him a small wave goodbye as the door closed.

"Now that Cafe-chan isn't here, what was so important that you had to request full privacy?" Tachyon asked.

"Just a hypothesis I thought of that you might not like very much." Tachyon's smile widened with intrigue.

"Oh? What may that be? Something about my demeanor? My physical appearance? Is this a criticism, or an observation?"

"An observation." Izuku said. "I... don't know how to approach this carefully, but I am concerned and want to talk about it."

"And this thing you are so wary of discussing is?"

"Your interest with my physiology isn't merely about scientific interest, is it?" She nodded.

"Of course! I don't believe I explained it to you, but my childhood dream is to discover what lies beyond this body's potential, and reach beyond what umamusume typically consider the limits of speed! My interest in you beyond your otherworldly origin is to see if there is something that your physiology has that can contribute to my dream." Izuku nodded, letting out a sigh as he formulated his thoughts.

"That's quite the dream." He said, Tachyon nodding with a hint of suspicion. "Is that why you want to learn how to synthesize quirks? Maybe to hopefully synthesize an ability that compensates for the fragility of your legs?" Tachyon tried to hide the way eyes widened, but he already knew.

"And what observations drove you to that hypothesis?"

"For starters, I noticed that one of your legs twitched when you stood up just now." Tachyon's eyes darted down to her right leg, then back to him.

"S-Surely that's just because of bad posture. My leg simply fell asleep."

"Then there was the choice of quirks that you wondered about. Frog and cricket. Both abilities that focus on leg strength."

"That is because I am interested in seeing how compatible the average umamusume's physical structure is when introduced to quirks that enhance our natural abilities!"

"I know someone with the former as a quirk. Besides pure power another aspect of her quirk is heavily reinforcing the anatomy of her legs to handle the explosive power of her jumps. Even putting aside the boost that quirks like that would give, someone with more fragile legs would benefit even without the strength enhancement."

"S-Stop, Midoriya-san. It-it's just scientific curiosity!"

"The last thing that tipped me off was that look in your eyes. That desperation, that yearning."

"That is highly classified information, Midoriya-san. I would prefer if this experiment were to end here so we can focus on much more important things." She reached behind her and pulled out a vial. "Such as this! This concoction theoretically should drastically reduce fatigue without the negative effects of caffine!"

"I've been there, you know? That fear that stems from something completely out of your control. That dread, knowing that you were almost who you wanted to be but missing just that last important piece."

"Or what about this one that I've been making that can give you luminous skin! Surely my scientific discoveries are much more intriguing than something like my legs theoretically being fragile."

"But that last piece is never there. It's gone enough for you to almost forget but present enough for you to understand its absence in every moment."

"P-Please, just- stop. Surely you don't need to press on any further."

"And when you lay down at night, you wonder what life would be like if you that missing piece was there. You yearn and you hope and you dream but you know that nothing you can do will fill the void it leaves behind." Tachyon's demeanor changed, her face filling even more with that familiar look as she continued to try and stop Izuku from saying any more.

"What if I decided to make you a concoction of your own choice! U-Usually they come with side effects but with enough time and collaborative testing I could create a concoction that could even send you back home! All I ask for is that you cease this line of thought!"

"I know you don't want to hear any of this, but please, I genuinely have been there. I know what it's like to risk ending your dream early by chasing it. Tachyon-san, I want to help you however I can."

She didn't blow up at him, nor did she break down. She simply stared in silence, mind running as fast as her namesake. Eventually she spoke, her usual tone missing in favor of a much smaller voice.

"...How?"

"How what?"

"How do you know what it feels like?" She asked. Izuku smiled, walking up to her. He shrugged off his blazer again and rolled up his right sleeve, showing off some of the scars on his arm to her once again.

"There were two reasons. I didn't mention it but most humans develop their quirk as soon as they turn four. I didn't develop mine until I was seventeen."

"Seventeen?"

"I was a... really late bloomer. For my entire life before that point I lived quirkless. To most people that was the same as being disabled. When I finally did get my quirk though, I took on a different problem. How much science goes into making one of your concoctions?" She gave him a confused look at the sudden question.

"They require a large amount of knowledge of chemistry, anatomy, and biology to produce. Why do you ask?" Izuku nodded.

"When I first got my quirk it was like being put in a masters course for all of those subjects without even having the introduction. Not only that but because I was a beginner I wasn't able to deal with the backlash of my powers." He pointed to the scars on the sides of his palm. "When I used my powers, I had no idea how to control my input. When I needed to use a vial of solution I poured the entire bottle in, and that led to me obliterating my arms from the backlash." She rolled up her sleeves again, her own hands tracing the scars on his with the new knowledge in mind.

"So all of these scars..."

"Some of them were from fights with villains, but most of them were because of myself. Every time I used my quirk, every time I pushed my body beyond its limits even after I learned how to control it properly I risked never being able to use my arms again." He remembered one moment during the second battle against Shigaraki and All for One, where he laid broken and bloody with bleeding stumps in place of his arms. "A lot happened since then, but... the thought of it never really leaves your mind, does it? That fear." Blackwhip latched onto a few sheets tucked under the papers she had moved earlier, pulling it into his hands.

They were diagrams of Tachyon's legs, alongside notes detailing how likely it was for her to injure herself whenever she ran at max capacity, and theories about how Izuku's DNA could lead to the preservation of her legs if she could figure out how his body differed from standard humans or umamusume.

"I've been there. I know what that's like. I've broken myself over and over chasing my dream, putting myself at risk of ending it each and every time, but I'm still here."

"How did you get over it?" She asked, eyes hidden beneath her bangs. Izuku smiled again.

"I never did. I just put my fears aside and thought to myself that the risk was worth it." He put the papers away, walking up to her and taking her hands in his own. "For me saving people was and will continue to be worth any injury, whether it be temporary or permanent because I want to live my life knowing that I did everything I could to save people." He said, giving an awkward laugh. "I'm... probably not the best one to give advice about risking personal injury considering that most of my friends and mentors agree that self-sacrifice is my biggest flaw, but I do think that you should try regardless of your fear. Maybe you will break. Maybe your career as a racer will end early, but I'd rather you gave it your all and tried than never started in the first place, Tachyon-san."

Tachyon nodded, her expression unreadable as she stepping back.

"Thank you, Midoriya-san. Can you give me some space, please? I need some time to think about your words." Izuku nodded.

"Of course. I'll be there whenever you need me, Tachyon-san." He walked out of the abandoned classroom, leaving Tachyon alone to her thoughts.

...A Few Days Later...

"Just a little further, Urara-san!" Izuku cheered. On the dirt training track was Haru Urara, the pink ball of energy running down the final length with determination in her cherry blossom eyes. She passed the finish line, Izuku clicking the timer to stop as she ran up to him.

"Hey hey, Trainer! Did'ya see that?! I was like 'kaboom!' and 'woosh!' down the track just now!" Izuku nodded.

"Three minutes on dirt versus five minutes at the same distance on turf. I can try and help you work on turf running better, but you do the best on dirt tracks. That aside though, focus on training speed and power your last spurt will really go 'kaboom'!" He said, mimicking the way she said it.

"Really?! Does that mean... does that mean I'll be able to finally win a race?!" She asked, her entire body vibrating with excitement at the idea.

"Of course! Let me figure out a training plan to help you run on turf better if you really want to run turf races, but for now work on speed and power the most when you train!"

"Okie-dokie! Oh, also!" She reached into her pocket, pulling out a few tickets. "Some of the store owners from the shopping district wanted you to have these for all the times you hang out with me!" She put them in Izuku's hands, the man looking at the vouchers.

Haru Urara's bestest friend discount voucher!

The paper was laminated and pink, with the characters at the top written in crayon and the lower subtext typed out.

"Thank you so much, Urara-san! I'll put these to good use." He put them in his blazer pocket, Urara running off to chase a pretty butterfly she just noticed.

"Cute, isn't she?" Izuku heard from behind him, nodding.

"She reminds me of someone I know. Twelve years her junior but she still has the same excitable energy." Izuku turned around, only now noticing that he was talking to Tachyon for the first time since their last conversation. "Oh, Tachyon-san! How have you been?"

"I've been well. Before you say anything else, try this new concoction I made! I increased the potency to compensate for your biology but it should theoretically allow you to float!" She said, excitement in her voice. Izuku responded with an apologetic smile.

"Tachyon-san..." He looked around to make sure nobody was watching before floating above his seat. "I already can float."

"Huh." She looked at the vial. "Well you can float and it won't be suspicious! Here, give it a try!" He shrugged.

"Sure, I'll try it anyways." He had a feeling she wouldn't stop asking much like a certain mechanic would. He took the vial and quickly downed the vial, only to immediately enter a coughing fit.

"Midoriya-san! Is it working?" Tachyon asked, fluttering around him trying to see if anything changed.

"S- S-"

"S what?"

"Spicy..." Izuku breathed out, coughing again. It's like his entire mouth and throat was coated in capsaicin, each breath igniting fire in his mouth.

Tachyon began to look around to see the fastest way to a student store for some dairy to help, her eyes filling with worry. Izuku let out a few more coughs, and suddenly his vision began to darken. He thought it was a medical issue for a second until he realized that he wasn't turning blind, he was just-

'Smoke?' The spice began to tone down as he let out a deep exhale, a small puff of flame coming out of his mouth.

"I- What?" She asked, arms going limp at her sides.

"I'm... breathing fire?" Izuku asked, puffs of flame coming out with each exhale as he spoke.

"Um... are you alright?"

"Despite the fire breath, surprisingly I'm not burning the inside of my mouth. That and I taste a hint of pepper, if you can believe that." Izuku observed. "Y'know, this is actually kind of funny in a cosmic sense."

"In what way?" Izuku chuckled.

"Breathing fire was actually my father's quirk. So... thank you Tachyon-san. You let me live through something I'd been wanting ever since I was a child." She gave him a small smile in return.

"It was my pleasure. Oh, experiment aside... I wanted to talk to you a little bit about our last conversation if you have the time."

"I always have time to help. Have you come to a conclusion?" Izuku said, turning his head away from her to avoid accidentally breathing fire on her.

"I think I have." She said. "You said it best, Midoriya-san. I may break, my career may end early, but I want to give my all. I want to reach beyond the definition of speed. I want to see what lies beyond an umamusume's limits, and I want to reach that discovery with this body's own two legs." She smiled. "Would you help me in my pursuit? I still have plenty of questions regarding your world and the science behind your powers."

"I'm still happy to answer any questions you may have. Don't worry, Tachyon-san. I'll always be by your side."

"Then I will gladly take you on as my assistant, Midoriya-san! Though," Her smile widened just a bit. "With how you phrased it you sound like you were confessing to me. Shall we move to the rooftop, or behind the school so you can say it once more?" Izuku turned beet red, shaking his head.

"T-That wasn't my intention, honest!" Tachyon let out a small laugh.

"I'm fully aware of that, don't worry. I will admit that I can be quite needy, though you likely observed such at the state of my equipment." She walked up next to his ear, conveniently hiding the way blood flowed through her cheeks. "Though I wouldn't mind some emotional experimentation if you truly desired it."

She quite enjoyed the way he lit up even more from vocal stimuli, mentally tucking that away for later as he flailed his arms in front of himself.

"I'm fully aware that the others will ask you for more help, but I do hope that you were being honest when you say that you'll be there for me. Experimentation requires assistance, and I will be making quite frequent use of yours." She began to walk away, sparing one last look behind her.

"I'll be in your care now, guinea pig." She walked away, leaving Izuku by his lonesome once again. He smiled, letting a puff of air out from his nose.

"Um, Midoriya-san?" Izuku turned.

"Oh, hi Cafe-san. What's the matter?" Cafe pointed down to his collar.

"You're on fire." He looked down to see parts of his suit beginning to burn.

"Oh that's not good."

"Was it Tachyon's drugs-" "It was Tachyon's drugs." Izuku confirmed, looking around before smothering the flames with blackwhip.

"Thanks for the warning, Cafe-san. Though I am worried about how long this will last." Izuku suddenly felt his phone vibrating, pulling it out to see a text from Tachyon.

According to my calculations the effects should wear off in a few hours, so try not breathing through your nose or going near flammable material. Don't forget to give me a report on the experience!

"I'll find you some milk in case that helps with the whole breathing fire thing."

"That would be greatly appreciated Cafe-san."

Milk apparently didn't help, Izuku receiving strange looks from Tracen's student body as he puffed flames across campus, but he had no problems with it. Agnes Tachyon was a very eccentric person, her love of science and experimentation concealing fear of losing the ability to chase her dream.

No matter how many concoctions she asked him to down or experiments she had him participate in, he would go through each and every one so long as she was able to take even one more step towards making her dream come true.
