Work Text:
Wilhelm and Simon finally graduated high school, in honour of surviving for so long, they go on vacation, just them, out of the country to a beautiful beach.
Oddly, Simon thought he was going to have to plan the whole thing, but Wilhelm had everything covered, from hotels to restaurants.
He had already scoped out a few places he wanted to bring Simon.
It was July and they were in Woolacombe Devon, England.
They were just chilling on a towel at the beach, their plane arrived a bit later so it was too cold for swimming.
But Wilhelm would die to be in the water with Simon, to carry him where Simon couldn’t quite reach and toss him, and watch Simon squirm to climb up Wilhelm’s body, which sounded like a nightmare to Simon but a dream for Wilhelm.
Simon rested his head on Wilhelm's shoulder as he buried his feet in the sand.
“Did you really plan this whole thing by yourself?”
Wilhelm bit his bottom lip at his boyfriend’s question.
“Felice helped, just the slightest. I couldn’t pick a beach… or a hotel.”
Simon closed his eyes and chuckled with a hum, he knew Wilhelm was too indecisive to pick all this without crying once.
“You still find it romantic though, right?”
Wilhelm wanted to make sure, cause he did put in hard work for it even though Felice helped.
“Absolutely,”
Simon placed a soft peck on his neck.
“I didn’t really think you could do it by yourself without a single breakdown.”
Wilhelm chuckled as he placed his hands behind him in the sand and leaned back.
“I did want to decide everything myself. But there’s just… so many beaches and- and hotels. And… they all looked so great. I felt bad for not pick o-“
Simon cut him off before he could continue rambling off with a soft kiss to his lips.
“It’s okay…”
Simon chuckled as he pulled away from the kiss.
Wilhelm’s cheeks turned a tint of red.
“What restaurant did you and Felice plan for us tonight?”
Simon chuckled as he fidgeted with the collar of Wilhelm’s shirt.
Wilhelm thought for a moment, licking his lips before remembering.
“Some Beach House place looked like it had good food. It was one of the places I picked by myself. I thought you would like it.”
Simon hummed.
“Can’t wait to try it.”
They just stared into each other’s eyes for a moment before Simon patted his chest and stood up, gesturing for Wilhelm to follow and pick up the blanket.
“We gonna colour match?”
Simon playfully asked as he tilted his head with a smirk.
“Oh, absolutely. We wearing pink?”
Wilhelm teased as he stood up with a blanket, rewarding himself with a slight, playful push from Simon.
“3, 2, 1…”
Simon said without a warning they were gonna race, just sprinting through the sand to get back to the hotel.
By the time they both reached the side-walk they were carrying their flip flops and out of breath.
Running in the sand isn’t the smartest idea.
“Carry me.”
Simon leaned on Wilhelm once he reached beside him, and Simon did in fact win the race, but only because he got a head start.
Wilhelm groaned, but obeyed, turning his back towards Simon and crouching down for Simon to hop on, which Simon did happily.
“Thank you, babe.”
Simon kissed his cheek, all of a sudden he didn’t seem so tired anymore.
Wilhelm carried Simon all the way back to the hotel, even if Simon said he was good to walk, Wilhelm wouldn’t let go of his thighs.
“I call the shower first.”
Simon hopped down from Wilhelm’s back as they appeared at the room of their hotel, he grabbed the key out of his bag and swiped it, it unlocking with a nice green light and a ding.
Simon sighed of relief as he opened the hotel door, taking in the new hotel room smell that was so comforting.
Wilhelm didn’t like it much, maybe that was ’cause he was a rich boy, but he liked the way Simon looked as he took in the smell and flopped face first onto their bed.
Wilhelm quietly took off his shoes and shut the door, creeping over to the bed, climbing on and straddling Simon’s sandy hips; Wilhelm pressing his chest against Simon’s back.
Simon let out a nice, pleasure hum, not quite a moan, but close.
“Do we have time before dinner?”
Wilhelm ran his hands down the back of Simon’s arms.
Simon whined, as he softly shook his head.
“Reservations are at 7, right?”
Simon checked the clock that read 5:45 pm.
They could have time, but they both needed to take a shower, get ready, Simon wanted to take pictures before, they didn’t have time for what Wilhelm’s dick brain was thinking right now.
“We can shower together…”
Wilhelm pressed a few light kisses to the back of Simon’s neck.
“Wille,”
Simon stopped him with a chuckle.
“after dinner…”
Simon lifted his head from the pillow to look back at Wilhelm who had stopped kissing his neck and was smirking lightly.
Wilhelm rolled off of Simon and laid next to him.
“I was thinking about going on a night beach walk.“
Wilhelm informed Simon kinda sternly.
Simon was a bit taken back that Wilhelm would choose that over sex.
“Oh, okay…”
Simon wasn’t sad or offended, he didn’t mind taking a night beach walk with Wilhelm. He would love that in fact.
“Okay then,”
Simon kissed Wilhelm’s forehead as he got out of bed.
“see you after…”
Simon disappeared into the bathroom to take a shower, which Wilhelm told himself he wasn’t going to join him.
The second Wilhelm heard the water running and jumped out of bed, running over to his suitcase to not just get his clothes but to get a ring.
There Wilhelm sat on the floor, his suitcase slightly disheveled from Wilhelm digging through it.
He opened the box to reveal a nice gold ring with 3 small little diamonds around the band. He and Felice had looked at magazines and magazines, Felice wanted him to get something big and extravagant, but Wilhelm knew Simon would much rather a basic gold one that would match with all his outfits then a massive one that would draw attention.
Wilhelm knew they were only 18 and they were young, but he knew, he KNEW Simon is his one and only, he’s loved him since he was 16, he loves him now, and he’ll love him 50 years.
They don’t have to get married right now, he just wants to be able to call Simon his ‘fiancé’ instead of ‘boyfriend’ all the time.
He would love to introduce Simon to his mom as ‘fiancé’ just to bother her.
Wilhelm quickly shut the box that held the ring and shoved it in his shoe as he heard the water stop.
He picked the clothes he was gonna wear for dinner tonight up off the ground, standing up and waiting for Simon to get out of the bathroom so Wilhelm could go in.
Simon walked out with a towel wrapped around his waist, his black, luscious curls sticking to his forehead, his body glistening. It was such an amazing scene to witness, and Wilhelm’s lucky, he gets to witness this all the time, but he still feels soft and bubbly with love every time he sees it.
Simon smiles at him as he walks past him, he knows how much Wilhelm loves staring at him in these situations.
“Hop in the shower, please…”
Simon requests as he digs through his own suitcase.
Wilhelm obeys Simon more than he does his own mom, he quickly hops in the shower and washes his dirty-blond, wavy hair that was slowly turning brown as he got older.
Wilhelm’s all blushy and giggly as he washed his body, practicing how he’s gonna ask Simon, how he’s gonna ask his boyfriend to marry him, it’s still crazy that they went from sneaking around to… this.
Eventually Wilhelm got out of the shower in the clothes he picked out, he took one look at Simon and realises they didn’t quite discuss what they were gonna wear.
Simon was sitting in bed with a white button up and jeans while Wilhelm looked like, well, a tourist. He was wearing a colourful shirt with flowers on it and casual jeans.
“Willie?”
Simon chuckled as he stood up from the bed and started walking towards, embarrassed, Wilhelm.
“I love your outfit.”
Simon fixed the collar on sad Wilhelm’s shirt.
“I didn’t know we were dressing up classy.”
Wilhelm said, his tone low as he let his boyfriend fix his collar.
“No- No… this is… adorable.”
Simon smiled as he flatted out his shirt with his hands.
Wilhelm just stood there, thinking, how could they have gotten the dress code messed up so bad.
“Should I change?”
“No!”
Simon grabbed Wilhelm’s shoulders.
“You’re adorable as hell. You’re wearing this.”
He said sternly.
The whole dinner was basically a blur, Wilhelm and Simon drank a few drinks, in their very different outfits, while they ate sea food, Simon yapped, and god, Wilhelm doesn’t know what he was talking about, but he was hot as hell while he did it.
Wilhelm’s brain half focused on proposing later and half focused on Simon.
He and Felice rehearsed Wilhelm getting on his knee and opening the box.
Every time Wilhelm would either stutter, drop the box, or become unstable on his knee, and he REALLY hopes that doesn’t happen in front of Simon, he wants this engagement to go perfect.
“Babe, are you listening?”
Simon chuckles as he waves a hand in front of Wilhelm’s face, he wasn’t hurt Wilhelm wasn’t listening, that happens sometimes.
Wilhelm snapped out of it and nodded his head.
“Yup, absolutely, I agree with you.”
Wilhelm has no idea what he agrees with Simon on, but he knows that Simon likes it when he agrees with him.
“Oh, so you agree all puppies should be executed?”
Simon tilts his head, somehow keeping a straight face.
“WHAT?!”
Wilhelm’s eyes shoot wide as he puts both hands on the table, he did NOT mean to agree to that.
“I’m fucking with you.”
Simon informs him with an eye roll and a soft chuckle.
Wilhelm doesn’t think he’s ever had such a deep sigh of relief, he loved puppies, he would cry if anything happened to the cute, sweet puppies.
Wilhelm also knows he’s got caught not listening.
“You’re so fucking hot.”
Wilhelm puts his hand on top of Simon with an awkward, apologetic smile.
“It’s okay… it wasn’t important.”
Simon, honestly, reassures Wilhelm that he wasn’t missing out on much.
“But do we HAVE to go on a beach walk after this?”
Simon whines softly, he would love to another night, he’s tired and just wants to cuddle.
Wilhelm puts his other hand on top of Simon’s.
“Yes. We have too.”
He spoke sternly, he wanted to do it tonight so they could spend the rest of the trip as fiancés, not boyfriends.
“Okay- Okay…”
Simon releases his hand from Wilhelm’s grip with a chuckle, raising his hands in defense.
Wilhelm nodded as he took a bite of shrimp.
The sun was dipping below the horizon, not quite dark, but stars were slowly peeking out.
Simon and Wilhelm were walking hand in hand as they strolled down the beach, taking in the sounds of the waves crashing on the shore and the sand between their toes.
“This was an amazing day.”
Simon squeezes Wilhelm’s hand as he glances at him then looks out onto the water to look for dolphins.
“Yeah…”
Wilhelm only has his eyes on Simon, he can feel the ring box in his pocket, waiting to be pulled out and presented to Simon, but not yet, the timing would… come, as Felice said.
And maybe the moment did come a few times, but none of them felt RIGHT to Wilhelm, except when Simon let go of his hand to look at the dolphins jumping.
This, THIS felt like the right moment, Simon occupied in such a romantic cute spot. Wilhelm sorta hesitated and started sweating as he reached for the ring box in his back pocket, he was more scared that Simon was going to turn around too early and see him holding the box before he was on his knee.
But Wilhelm successfully went to his knee, his position stable with his back straight, quietly and slowly opening the ring box, he took a deep breath in and a deep breath out, waiting for Simon to turn around and see Wilhelm with the gold ring firmly in his hand so he doesn’t ruin the ring box when dropping it in the sand.
“Babe- Babe! There’s a baby…”
Simon awed as he reached for Wilhelm’s arm but was not at his normal height, Simon turned around confused before being his body just shut down, he stood there blankless, a ring most likely more expensive than his childhood house being presented to him.
“Simon,”
Wilhelm started with a shaky voice.
“will you make me the happiest man alive, and let me be your husband.”
Wilhelm finally chokes up the words with an awkward chuckle because Simon hasn’t shown any reaction yet.
Simon starts bouncing his leg before evening making a face that could show a ‘yes’ or ‘no’, then the biggest smile just jumped onto Simon’s face as he nodded, his eyes tearing up slightly as he just stood there and nodded.
Wilhelm let out a soft chuckle of relief as he nodded along with Simon.
He held his hand out, wanting Simon’s hand so he could put the ring on his finger.
Then full realisation hit Simon as he put out his hand for Wilhelm to slide the cold metal onto his ring finger, and with his free hand he wiped away the eyeliner that had run down his cheek.
“You’re ruining my eyeliner.”
Simon sniffed jokingly as Wilhelm kissed his hand and stood up.
“I’m sorry.”
Wilhelm chuckled as he leaned down and caught Simon’s lips in a soft, passionate kiss.
Simon pulled away to catch his breath, crying and kissing weren’t the best mix.
“We’re- We’re engaged?”
Simon wanted to make sure he knew what was happening before he got too excited about it.
Wilhelm chuckled.
“Yes. We’re engaged and we’re gonna get married.”
Wilhelm swooped Simon closer by his waist and dipped him slightly as Simon’s hand found the back of his neck.
