Chapter 1: Scraped Knee-Memory

Chapter Text

”I’m the ruler of this kingdom you shall not pass me!” Memory called out, wearing a paper crown as she triumphantly stood on top of the slide set as Robbie playfully crouched and crawled on the ground, mimicking a dragon as he leaped towards the slide.

”Rahhhh! I am the evil dragon and I will eat you and take over this kingdom!” Robbie playfully growled, pretending to lunge forward as Memory kept on her toes.

”I will stop you evil dragon! I will protect my kingdom forever!” Memory exclaimed, sliding down the slide as she excitedly ran after Robbie. The two kids running after one another as the little hunter nimbly dodged and weaved through the play set.

Memory was just as fast on her feet as she dashed towards the hunter. Robbie was quicker however and had jumped over a small bump. However, the little girl did not quite catch this and went stumbling over the bump, falling down to her knees as she planted onto the ground making a loud “unph!” sound.

Robbie paused in his steps, turning around to look down at the ground, seeing his friend lying there helplessly as he walked up to her cautiously. He initially thought that this was a ploy and she was about to catch him.

”Are you okay? Did you fall?” Robbie questioned, watching Memory slowly shuffle onto her hands and knees as she glanced up at the Axe Boy and started bawling.

She had made a beeline for the sliding glass door, opening it as she went inside the manor. Robbie was left alone outside as he saw that her dolly was left in the dirt.

”Wait! Memory! Your toy!” Robbie called out, picking it up as he went back inside the manor.

It wasn’t hard to find the little girl as she was standing by the Makeshift Bar as Demi was crouching out of view to talk to the little girl. There was another lady sitting there—she was a new survivor.

”Did you fall dear?” Demi asked, her tone sweet and soft as Memory nodded between tears. Pulling her dress up a little to reveal her scraped knees as the Barmaid stood up.

”Come on Memory, let’s go get you changed into a clean dress. We’ll wash your dirty one.” She muttered, picking up the girl with strenuous effort as she hobbled slowly back to the girl’s room. It was obvious that she never really carried around children in her arms for that matter.

The new survivor turned to look down at the Axe Boy. Her monotonous eyes widening in a bit of alarm as she thought about what to say.

”Oh hello little one. Are you here for something?”

”Memory left her dolly in the mud. And now it’s all dirty. What do I should do?” Robbie asked, rocking back and forth on the balls of his feet as the survivor smiled warmly.

”How about we clean it for her. I think she’d appreciate that a lot.” Robbie agreed to the idea as he took the dolly and used a small towel to wipe off the excess dirt from the toy. The new survivor helped him bring it down to the manor’s hamper to be washed.

”My name is Wendy by the way.” The short haired woman muttered, standing up as she extended a friendly hand out to the Axe Boy.

”Cool! My name is Robbie!” The two giggled as they returned back to the dining hall, Memory sitting on the couch sipping on a juice pack as she was in her pajamas.

”Are you okay Memory? How are you feeling? Can I have a juice?”

The little girl smiled. “I’m fine! I just scraped my knee. I have bandaids on.” The kid pulled up her pant sleeve, revealing her bandaids to the older kid as he stared at them.

”Where is my dolly?” Memory muttered, feeling a little bit nervous as Robbie knew just what to say.

”It got all muddy so I decided to go wash it off for you! It’ll be back clean as new soon!”

The warm smile Memory had flashed him had been nothing more than triumphant as the two kids sat down on the couch, sipping on some juice as they decided to play inside instead.
