Chapter Text
Mono stirred as he slowly woke up, the air warm and the sun shining in his eyes. He could feel the warm sand and hear the waves crashing and the palm trees swaying and…something else familiar, someone calling him. It became louder.
“Mono..? Mono..!”
Then he opened his eyes to..find himself surrounded by the oh so familiar flesh walls. Their many eyes blinked at him.
He had became so used to their repulsive noises and moving. He had become used to the constant loneliness and the cold wind that blew above him. It was quite boring there. Over the 3 years he had suffered down there he had found out many ways to entertain himself. There was the usual sleeping, throwing small rocks at the walls eyes, (poorly) attempting to do a backflip, building stuff out of the occasional debris that fell down, and of course day dreaming. He would constantly ponder about how to escape the pit but in reality he knew it was pointless. He would also wonder how Six was doing and if she ever thought of him. Even though he resented her greatly, there was a teeny tiny part of him that wanted her to come back.
He sighed and pulled out a folded, tattered piece of paper from his pocket. It was a small postcard that had blew down there a while back. On the front was a picture of a sunny beach with golden sand and crystal blue water. It was ripped so badly you could hardly make out the words Aloha! written in the front in white blocky letters. It seemed like a nice place. A paradise where everything was not trying to kill you. He imagined writing to Six. Asking her how she was and if she ever got to join a real family. He had always wanted to have parents. To not be lonely all the time…
There was a sudden gust of wind and his makeshift fort made of three wooden boards came down with a crash! He rushed over to try and fix it when he heard a snap! and some more junk came crashing down. He jumped out of the way, almost knocking over his chair. It was a couple of boards and a…T.V.?
He walked over cautiously. He hadn’t seen a T.V. since..he could hardly remember! Slowly he inspected it. It was quite old, the screen was cracked and the rest of it was very beat up. He wondered if…he slowly pressed his hands to the screen. It had been so long since he had done this. He felt the tingly sensation in his palms and saw the screen slowly flicker…suddenly there was a huge burst of light! He must have blacked out because when he woke up he was lying on a dusty wooden floor. He reached for his bag which had been knocked off while he traveled when he spotted something yellow in the dark.
“Couldn’t be..” he thought. There was no way in hell that was her. He crawled closer, trying to be as silent as possible and sure enough it was Six! She looked quite older, she was a little taller and her hair was longer. But so did Mono. He had gotten very tall in the past years. He could hardly recognize himself!
He felt conflicted at the sight of her. For three years he had suffered in that dump while she sleeps in this fancy room waiting for him to waste away. He wanted to shake her and yell at her! But he knew he couldn’t. He sleepily crawled behind the T.V. and decided he would wait till morning to confront her. All he had to do was not fall asleep….

Chapter Text
Six sprinted as fast as she could across the wooden floor of the ship. She heard the squealing sounds of the bellhop behind her as she slip under a food cart. She covered her mouth to muffle her breathing as she watched the shadow of the bellhop look around and then finally leave. God she hated them so much.
The servants on the ship were mindless beings that looked human enough except their head which was a lump of fungus. They were disgusting to look at but thankfully extremely stupid. Their only job was to clean the rooms in the ship and serve food to the guests coming to the maw. Luckily six had hopped on board when the ship had departed. Her plan was to escape the nowhere and find a real place to live where she wasn’t being hunted 24/7.
Suddenly the cart started to move, as the staff were preparing food for the next round of guests. That meant they were close to land. She hopped off and sprinted behind a chair. No staff in sight. She slowly crawled out and jumped on a long, red curtain leading up to an open vent. She struggled to crawl through, being much taller. She didn’t even realize that 3 years had passed. It was hard to care about that when you’ve spent your entire life running.
“Jeez why is this so hard?” she thought.
She saw the light of a ship bedroom.
“Almost…there..” she thought, crouched down as far she could go. Suddenly the bottom of the vent swung open and she fell to the hard ground.
“Oof!” she said as she struggled to get up, her whole body sore. As if things couldn’t get worse, she heard the screaming of an angry server grabbed at her. She scurried to the nearest bedroom and hid under the bed, behind the one of the posts. She heard the door swing open and the footsteps of the server. She didn’t dare to turn around. After a half a minute of silence she heard the door close. Thankfully he was gone.
She sneaked out of her hiding spot to look around. It was a bedroom, meant for a guest. The bed was obviously huge. There was also a small round window above the T.V. and there was a cabinet in the corner of the room. The floor was dusty and the low sun made lines across it. She yawned and curled up on the floor. “I think I’ll just stay here for the night…” she whispered to herself as she began to fall asleep. She didn’t notice the sun go down or the T.V. begin to flicker…
