   Summary

   Once, a child called for help in a snowstorm, but no mage came. Young Jayce was rescued by passing travellers, but his mother did not survive.
   Adopted into clan Giopara and still haunted by his trauma, 26-year-old Jayce is now a friendless academy researcher aching for a direction in life.
   Such a direction will come in the form of an unexpected job offer from Clan Ferros and the meeting with Heimerdinger’s charming assistant.
