“I feel silly wearing this.”
“Quiet,” Alex hushed as she and Steve tiptoed through the birch forest. The distorted warblings of Endermen hung in the air, and Steve adjusted the carved pumpkin on his head.
“I can barely see,” Steve grumbled as he passed another Enderman, eyes briefly locking onto the bundle of dirt in it's dark grasp.
“Stop whining,” Alex spat. She was ahead of him, and went behind a tree to wait for him to catch up. The duo had been traveling in search of a village, but had to stop to don their pumpkins when they came across a hefty colony of the monsters.
It was true that the small openings in the headwear made it hard to see, but Alex preferred it to a gruesome death. They’d already had too many encounters and not enough food.
Finally, Steve came into her limited view, looking rather goofy in his oversized pumpkin-y costume. Once it became obvious that the worst was behind them, they could finally remove the helmets and return to their quest.
