SCENE #4
Ext. Cuatro Taco - Night
After a long day of hard work, Paul hauls a garbage bag out through Cuatro Taco’s back door. He heaves it into the dumpster without looking. He turns to go back inside, pauses. He’s sensed something. Perhaps even smelled something?
He opens the dumpster back up and spots the body.
Cut to:
Now the body is out on the ground. Luca has joined Paul. They analyze it.
LUCA
Way I see it, we got two choices: tell the sheriff and potentially get the joint shut down for a crime scene investigation, or accept that the guys who did this poor fuck in are long gone, never to be caught, and bury the body ourselves.
PAUL
Agreed.
There is a gleam in his eyes. Luca notices.
LUCA
You okay?
PAUL
Hm? Yeah.
LUCA
Want me to do it?
PAUL
No. Get some sleep. I’ll do it.
LUCA
Sure?
Paul gives him a look. Luca holds up his hands defensively.
LUCA
Alright, alright.
He re-enters the cantina. Paul continues to stare, expressionless, at the body.
SCENE #5
Int. Cuatro Taco - Night
Paul is in the back room, trying to sleep. He cannot. He is restless; something is on his mind.
Finally, he gives in to whatever is plaguing his mind.*
He leaves the back room and quietly enters the kitchen. He selects a sharp knife. He returns to his room. Under the light of a dim lamp, he calmly, without expression, slices a piece of his own thigh off.
He bandages the wound.
He returns to the kitchen and cooks the flesh on a skillet.
He sits and eats it with a piece of gouda cheese and a beer.
*soundtrack: Ennio Morricone’s “Il dolore sulla Casbah”
