Chapter Text

“Good morning Ranpo, I assume you already figured out why i called you here?” Fukuzawa questioned
“Yea yea cut to the chase old man!!!” Ranpo replied already tired of this, he was just about to get to his favorite candy store before A CERTAIN OLD MAN called him here to discuss a mission. “So i need to infiltrate UA and find the traitor because you owe the rat a favor?”
Fukuzawa sighed “yes Ranpo thats correct.”
“Can i atleast bring Poe-kun along?”
“..sure just stay safe.”

While walking to Poe's house Ranpo notices something..odd, a tired looking guy is talking to a loud guy with REALLY weird blond hair. obviously Ranpo knows these weirdos are "pro hero" Eraser Head AKA Shota Aizawa, and the blond with weird hair is Present Mic AKA Hizashi Yamada, and Ranpo knows that if he wants to look like just another normal student he should take the long way to poe's house and avoid letting them see him, after all the rumors about Yokohama are quite dark, but thats boringggg!!! and ranpo would WAY RATHER just be known as the great detective he is! so he just takes the normal way passing by their table along the way.

Hizashi Yamada POV:
while talking to Aizawa I noticed a young man wearing a classic detective outfit, is he cosplaying? well either way he cant be very happy, he looks sad..even bored ? but he must just be scared after all he lives in Yokohama of all cities..poor kid, I hope he stays safe..I wish us pro heros were able to help the civilians around here..but its ruled by villains, even the government is full of villains..every hero that tries to help out here never seems to come back..he and Shota had to go trough alot of work to just explore..
but its alright the HPSC said they were handling it so ill just wait at least my little listeners are safe.

Normal POV:

"Poe-kun~~!"
"Ranpo-kun?! w-what are you doing here? you didnt say you would visit today ! n-not that im not happy to see you !"
Ranpo grins largly
"well Fukuzawa-san gave me a mission wanna come?"
Poe blinks confusingly a few times
"uh sure ?"
"great!! bring karl alongg!!"

“Ranpo-kun please tell me what this mission is about ?”
“We are going to school Poe-kun.”
“Oh”
Poe looks at ranpo with a questioning look,and ranpo looks back with a look that just states ‘you’ll figure it out’

The second Ranpo and Poe attempt to enter the school grounds some random student with blue hair and glasses start shouting at Poe about no animals allowed or whatever Ranpo stopped listening a while ago.
“Sir this raccoon is part of my quirk.” Ranpo decides to just say to get the man to stop talking.
“Oh carry on then I apologize for the inconvenience”
As they walk Poe questions Ranpo nervously “R-Ranpo-kun Karl isn’t your quirk though ?”
“Well I just wanted to get rid of that weirdo, either way I’m going to have to lie and say he is my quirk now”
Poe blinks a few times
“Uh alright”

Would you look at that building! It’s crazy big imagine how much money they wasted building it! I could’ve bought so much stuff with that money..
While walking Ranpo notices a green haired boy trying to hype himself up, only to fall the second he takes a step forward. Luckily for the broccoli some brown haired girl catches him, her quirk must be gravity related then.

While waiting for everyone to be done with the written exam Ranpo starts getting really bored obviously he knew all the answers like they were mostly just weird morality questions like
"if you saw a house getting robbed but the cops were already there would you help?" and Ranpo just went with saying the answers he knew that weird rat would like best.
but how is Poe not done yet?! he should've been done by now! those questions were easy..

meanwhile Poe already finshed the written exam but he feels too nervous to go all the way to the front of the room infront of all these people and submit it, but he will do it to prove himself to Ranpo!!
but he still takes a while to come outside, and thats NOT because he got too scared to go put it in 2nd right after Ranpo totally not!!

"What's up, UA candidates?"
Ranpo groans while struggling to not cover his ears, why does he have to be so loud?!

"Thanks for tunin' in
to me, your school DJ."
god that title is so stupid. Ranpo looks at Poe to see if he agrees but Poe is basically about to rip his ears off at this point. Ranpo almost pities him. almost.

"C'mon. And lemme hear ya!"
Ranpo has to hold a laugh in when no one makes a sound.

"Keeping it mellow, huh?"
and thats exactly when Ranpo starts ignoring the guy.

"Excuse me, sir"
the same annoying blue haired kid he met at the gate speaks up and Ranpo almost just zones out again.

"On the printout,you've listed four types
of villains. Not three."
valid point if you were an idiot who couldnt think ahead a bit.
its pretty damn clear that yellow guy was JUST about to get to that.
then bluey starts rambling about how this would be shameful for such a "prestigious" school he also complains about the broccoli kid from earlier being too loud and somehow disrespecting the school by doing that?? Ranpo already hates this guy.

sadly he and Poe are in different battle centers so he has to deal with this alone, well atleast he has Karl and Karl is a pretty smart raccoon so he will probably be fine.

THUD

Ranpo watches as the large door to the battle ground opens and everyone runs inside.
wow what a safety hazard with this many people running trough at once someone could get seriously hurt.

Ranpo runs around pushing people out of danger, he cant do much strength or fighting wise so he sticks to the hidden point system, it was quite easy to figure out.

this whole exam works against people without flashy quirks it sucks!! he is going to buy so many treats for him and Karl after this.

after a few hours of pushing people out of the way of robot fists and making sure everyone stays safe he hears a loud noise

THUMP

a gaint robot appears out of nowhere and everyone runs in the opposite direction from it trying to not get crashed by it, Ranpo got enough points already so he just goes with the crowd.

he notices the broccoli kid breaking the big robot with one punch which is crazy! but all his limbs are broken. thats odd. he'd have to investigate that later.

he hopes Poe got in too..though he doesnt really doubt it anyway.

I miss Karl. I hope Ranpo is taking care of him well.though i dont doubt it much.Karl trusts Ranpo and so do I.

on the way to the fighting center

Poe is sitting on the floor,there are too many people here. he really doesnt like big crowds like this, he is scared, And on top of that he lost Karl in the crowd!! he cant deal with this.
he needs Ranpo.
he needs Karl.
he needs someone. anyone.

what ? a man with yellow hair and a mark of black hair shaped like a lighting bolt is sitting near him, looking at him worried.

Poe is too tired for this today.

Sry yall ao3 authors curse hit and I almost got put in mental hospital for trying to jump from window :P
Anyways to make up for the fact I won’t post for a while I’m drawing a thingy for this fic because I also do art on the side :D so once that’s done I’ll post it and next chapter!! Also I made a YouTube account for fic updates:

“W-who are you ?”
Poe asks the guy with yellow hair still trying to calm down.
“I’m Denki Kaminari! But you can just call me Denki”.
Denki says pointing at himself proudly.
“What about you?”
Now pointing at Poe, Denki questions.
“Uh, I'm Edgar Allen Poe, you can call me Poe, I guess ?”
Poe, now calm answers nervously.
“Huh? That doesn’t sound Japanese?”
Denki is now giving Poe a weird look.
“Oh uh I'm American..”
Poe answers nervously.
“Woah epic! You came all the way to japan to go to become a hero? You must have an epic quirk then!!”
Denki’s eyes are sparkling now.
“Yea uh sure, lets just go with that..”
Poe is becoming uncomfortable now. What is with this guy?
“Anyway! Why were you all stressed and stuff?”
Denki tries to switch the topic, noticing Poe getting uncomfortable.
“Oh, I lost my raccoon Karl..have you maybe seen him ?”
Denki perks up.
“Oh yea i did see a raccoon!! Follow me!!”
Denki says pulling Poe along after him.

After a while of searching they find Karl raiding some kids bag
“Karl!!! Ohhh why did you leave meee i missed you so much”
Poe whisper yells at Karl ignoring Denki’s presence fully
“Uhh Poe-kun man we should probably start walking to the exam, right ?”
“O-oh yea um Denki-kun meet Karl, Karl meet Denki-kun”
Karl looks at Denki like he is looking right into his soul, Denki shivers “creepy..” he whispers to himself

whooshhhhh

THUD

the second those doors opened everyone rushed in, Poe and Karl along with them.

Poe runs around, every robot he finds he sends Karl to attack, Karl goes and rips the wires the robots rely on to move. 

After what felt like an hour of ripping robots to shreds Poe collapses from exhaustion and Karl, like the super genius he is, starts chewing Poe's hand to attempt to wake him up..totally not because he wanted to annoy Poe..noo, never! After that, they keep running around and defeating robots, Poe is so tired... He really wishes he got more sleep the night before, but can you blame him?! he was excited for the mission!!

After a while they hear Present Mic. 

"And that's it. Time's up!" 

After the exam Poe and Karl go and wait for Ranpo outside UA so they can take the train together, they go to the small apartment they rented for the mission, Poe and Ranpo collapse on the bed they share while Karl sleeps between them.

Ranpo woke up to a shouting Poe, 

"Poe-Kun please calm down..you woke me up.."

"but Ranpo-kun Karl is out of food!!! this is a perfectly justified reaction!!!" 

Ranpo lets out a small sigh, and opens the door. 

"Poe-kun lets go buy him some food and some treats for me."

"O-okay"

as they walk around town Ranpo makes Poe buy stuff at every single candy store they pass, by the time they get home Ranpo has 1000$ worth of candy.

once they get home they see two letters in their mailbox, they open them at the same time, a large hologram of All Might "young Ranpo congrats on passing the written exam you and one other person got 100% on the exam truly incredible! despite not getting any villain points there was a hidden point system, rescue points! you got a total of 58 rescue points landing at 9th place!"

"young Poe congrats you and one other person passed the written exam with an incredible score of 100%!! despite getting 32 villain points you also got 31 rescue points thats right! a hidden points system! in total you got 63 points landing at 6th place!" 

"Ranpo-kun we got in !! "

"I know Poe-kun but it was obvious anyways" 

"either way we should celebrate!" 

they spend the rest of the day shopping Ranpo gets even more candy they also buy more everyday clothings and they buy a bunch of food for the both of them.
