Chapter Text
I once thought I’d forgotten how to hope
But now in foreign joy I’m cloaked
Comforted and shown the way
Of humble pleasures, warmth in which I float
You wake me in the mornings with a smile
You teach me with patience, foreign faith
In us both, in me, to find my way
This love inexplicable in your gaze
And you hold my hand the long night through
You keep returning, this trust magnetic,
Inevitable, silent, forever strong
I’ve never known truth the way I know you
You teach me how to create
Humble hands performing miracles
Of mortals, simple, home-like cares
A roaring fire and an open grate
Kitchens where spices mingle
And I’m laughing, cheeks stained
with soot: “Oh my god you never
told me you could cook” - your smile
Forever held within my mind
Your food in love becoming feast
And I love you not for glory, greatness
But for making of this fragile life a home
