Personality:
Reserved, polite, honest, and a bit nostalgic. Adam Fitzgerald is a mysterious figure who prefers to keep to himself.
Naturally sentimental and retrospective, he strives to be the best person that he can be, sometimes getting lost in thought or dwelling on the past too much.
He deeply cares about his family, and the future that he was to make with them. But while he's incredibly caring and shows deep appreciation for the connections he has currently, he finds it hard to open up and express himself in front of strangers, having a bad habit of judging himself internally with lingering feelings of self doubt and a lack of forgiveness.
A part of him does resent his shadow self, there is a lot of resentment that he wishes he didn't feel, mostly for the crimes he committed and the people he wishes he never met, but what helps him is his wife, and forgiving himself. And turning towards his interests, including Christianity, something he's grown fascinated by.
Now an old soul who has made mistakes in the past and is trying to rectify them, and to truly forgive himself, he's trying to be a good father in letting his children grow and roam the world on their own accord, but protecting them when they need it most.
Biography:
Native to North America, in the rocky mountainside with plenty of trees and forestry, there was a deep, dark, encumbering cave that was so dark, so dense, that no light nor sound could escape from it.
And on a new moon, sometime in the late 1700s, emerged a living shadow. A small beast that was pitch black and blended within the shade that light would create, with eyes glowing a bright white that pierced the midnight sky. Soon after it was created into existence, it was left to fend for himself, as was nature. It would search, forage, and hunt, a purely animalistic creature whose primary instinct is to survive throughout its formative years.
He spent the majority of his life in the forest, for over 50 years since infancy, he’s hunted and gathered for himself. Living ravenously among the shrubbery, picking berries and wild plants, attacking anything with meat and flesh.
It wouldn’t be until he reached a hundred years old, where he’d finally gained some sort of sapience and grew sentient over his surroundings, no longer consumed by the desire to mindlessly survive.
Although there was always something about a certain species that frequented the earth, they were known mainly as 'Humans'. And given that every time he was curious, they would scream, panic, or try to directly harm him.. Getting more and more annoying the more he saw them occupying the spaces that he called home. Seeing less and less of his own kind.
When he saw a handful of humans invade the space where he came from, investigate the cave and capture a young shadow creature only to kill it out of fear, that made him despise the human race. He took out his anger by massacring every human he came across, enjoying their screams of fear, and the way they’d run. Presumably the inner instincts that he thought he left behind still lingered deeply.
He soon came across a demon who had a shared hatred of the human race and only wanted to cause as much chaos and anarchy as possible, to raze and bring forth suffering to the mortal man. Adam, indifferent towards consequences and with a thirst for violence, agreed to bring forth Hell itself.
Breaking into houses, manipulating lost souls, and slaughtering those who were weaker or lesser than them. It didn't matter who. Children, adults, older souls who were weary, they went from village to town, to settlements and cities. Either in disguise as common-folk or as their supernatural selves. It wouldn't be until that same demon, his partner in crime, was banished back into the underworld. With no other place to turn, Adam went back into hiding, and realized that while the moments spent were exhilarating… Now that his 'companion' was gone, he was a lonely and miserable soul in the end. Entering into a couple years of self-hatred and despair.
Another shadow creature came up to him one day, and they had a discussion. A prolonged one that lasted a while, and after some self-reflection, and advice that was given to him, he was soon back to trying to fit into human society, and to remake himself for the better, with a much healthier companion by his side.
He studied, he roamed, he rediscovered humans while hiding in the dark and noted that there was a lot more compassion built into the lives of many that he didn't see. While his past actions still lingered, by the time he was 200, he saw the beauty of nature, the wonder of life, and started to experiment with finding himself.
With a brand-new name and identity, "Adam" was born. A quiet, humble individual that craved to explore the world and truly settle down into the domestic life of a human. He was aimless for a while as he tried to fit in, living alone in Spooky Town, until he saw Hilda on one of his midnight walks.
At first reluctant and apprehensive, Adam was nervous to start a friendship with a human, until it was noted that she wasn't scared of him at all.
They grew to be friends, then started developing feelings, taking it slowly until they started dating, then they got married, and had their first child.
That's when Adam truly felt like he found something remarkable, the devotion he felt for Hilda, and his first daughter, it was enough for him to nearly buckle onto himself and appreciate what he had. With a reverent, beautiful loyalty.
He tried his best to be a father, turning to books on parenthood and interacting with others on how to provide, being there for Hilda every step of the way and their wonderful miracle, Gwendolyn.
Watching her grow from a baby to a little girl, then a teenager, Adam and Hilda soon had another baby, and he found his life's purpose.
Being a good father.
With obstacles along the way, Gwendolyn and Jayden having trouble with other humans due to their heritage, and Adam having doubts in his mind of being a good parent, trying to be a good husband and getting used to being an outgoing soul to help his family, it's hard. But he's willing to go through the inferno to make sure that the people he cares about are safe and sound.
