Chapter Text

“Hello! My name is Elli! I just transferred from outside of Sage Island and am excited to make everyone's acquaintance!” Elli was a shorter boy with short brown hair and dark blue eyes, he had transferred about 3 months into the school year and was placed in Silver’s history class with him. “Let’s see…” Mr. Trein thought over his seating arrangements before pointing next to Silver. “You can sit with Mr. Silver, Elli.”

Elli shot a large smile at the young knight and all Silver knew how to do was nod back accepting the greeting.

He sat down next to Silver. Diasomnia. Both of them were in the same dorm it turned out, that would explain why he was excited. “I heard that you are Draconia’s personal knight! That is just so cool-""Please be quiet in the front!” Elli apologized to the teacher quickly and Trein went to the assignment for the day.

Everything felt normal and class was as it always had been, except for the random looks he got from Elli, he seemed fascinated in Silver. When they locked eyes Elli’s face seemed to grow even wider. The fact that class was close to ending filled Silver with relief.

Elli ran up to Silver after class had ended and followed close behind. Something about the silver haired boy intrigued Elli. He was a knight for a well known prince and he wanted to get closer to him. The Draconia’s destroyed his life and if anyone was near that forsaken family line he would deal with them.

Elli couldn’t thank the Sevens enough for putting him next to the easiest one to destroy, Silver Vanrouge. Even though he didn’t take the last name Elli saw him as Lillia’s son, afterall that would make the job way easier, get rid of the child of the same person who took care of their precious prince and Sebek, Lilia, and Malleus would be powerless.

Silver never noticed the boy and he was glad. The invisibility curse that had finally disappeared when he got into his 2nd year at Night Raven was gone. Now he could stop his watching from the shadows and attack.

Malleus’ grandmother had put a curse on Elli after he tried to break into the castle. The fact that it was right before his first day at the college made him feel way more angry. He would get people on his side.

He stopped and turned a different corner than Silver and saw his new friends. There they are, they always have hated Silver and Sebek, perfect!

His scheme was perfect, catch him right at his locker when he is alone. Elli and his new friends all nodded and walked up behind the unsuspecting young knight.

Silver reached his locker when a pair of hands slammed the door shut. Silver was grateful for his fast reflexes as he moved his hands away just in time.

“Sorry Silvy didn’t see you there~” He looked back to see Elli and 5 others behind him snickering. “Silvy? Awwww didn’t know you were already so close Elli~” One of the kids remarked at the strange nickname that Silver seemed to have gained from nowhere. “Yeah well, didn’t I already tell you, I have been with him for the past 2 years!” What? 

Silver blinked at the strange lie. “Together? We just met today, Elli.” He reopened his locker no longer having it be shut by Elli. “Sorry you 5 he likes being quiet about being gay.” The others snickered, “I can’t believe it though Elli, you chose to date Mr. Sleep?”

Silver forced himself to ignore the fact they seemed to know about his sexuality and pushed back any sense of tiredness. “Elli, crocodile 12:00!” Elli turns over and notices Sebek but he wasn’t done with Silver, “Listen little Silvy, if you want your little secret and father to stay hidden then you will not tell anyone about today.” He whispered next to his ear, Silver held back a shudder instead just nodding back to Elli.

“Thanks for the help today Silver! Great pleasure in meeting you~” The group of 6 walked past Sebek who was too oblivious to what had happened and was only focused on Silver. “THERE YOU ARE SILVER!”

Silver hid any sign of something having happened earlier and waved to his fellow knight.

Seeing Malleus again he and Sebek started standing by his side again. Everything was normal for the most part, the same usual routine, Sebek yelling about how amazing Malleus was and Malleus just quietly walking with them.

“Silver, I heard there is a new student in your class?” Silver was a bit surprised by Malleus’ question, “yeah, Elli.” Sebek started focusing on the conversation, wanting to clearly join in but didn’t know how. “The child of man said something about him seeming ‘familiar’ although I am not sure what they meant.”

“Familiar?” Sebek chimed in

“Like they have seen him before in the school.” Malleus looked to Silver, “It might not be anything but when it comes to their senses they are usually right.” Silver nodded back to Malleus, he couldn’t tell him that he also felt that way about Elli.

“Thank you Lord Malleus for the heads up.” Silver simply stated as he continued walking with them.

Elli was someone that even the Prefect was worried about, that seemed strange to Silver more than anything.

Chapter Text

The second time they came up to Silver alone was a seemingly normal afternoon.

“Hey, look, it’s the sleep kid! What? Gonna sleep here or something?” Elli looked at Silver with his little group he had made. Silver had just wanted to go to his normal spot next to the tree, but it seemed that the group of kids had taken it. “Sorry for dis-” Elli pulled his arm unexpectedly, causing him to fall over. “Oh my Sevens, I thought you had muscles? But nope, guess those are as pathetic as you are!” He tried to get up when all five of the kids pushed him down. Their strength together made it impossible for Silver to get up.

Drowsiness came over Silver, great, now my curse is here… He was losing focus, but could still hear Elli.

“Silvy thinks he is strong enough to be that dumb dragon's knight, you know!” He most likely already told the other kids about that, not like it was a secret from the student body. “I almost forgot that he was a knight!” A kid called out with mockery, pushing harder on Silver’s leg, making sure escape was out of the question.

A sixth kid notified the others about something, maybe Malleus being nearby or Sebek, and caused the rest to release him. Elli grabbed onto Silver’s arm, too numb after all of the times it had been pulled and hit, and dragged him to the tree. “Sleep well, Silvy~ and don’t forget: Don’t tell anyone or I will tell everyone about your little secrets~” He couldn’t mutter anything, instead just nodding back to Elli. He looked pleased with the response and started walking away.

“Come on, guys, let’s get going. Bye, Silver.” Whenever Sebek, Malleus, or Lilia were near them he would immediately call Silver by his actual name and not the strange nickname he had wanted to keep using on Silver.

“SILVER”

Sebek was calling him, and he got up, ignoring all sleepiness in his body. He looked back up at Sebek, holding in any pain the kids inflicted. “Quiet down, Sebe-” “I WILL BE QUIET WHEN AND IF I WANT TO.” Sighing, Silver stood up and smiled gently at his fellow knight. “Lord Malleus is out of class now, and we must get back to him!” Silver nodded and calmly followed him to Malleus.

“Hey Silver!” A kid walked up to him as he was heading to class. Next to him was Ruggie who seemed distracted by a text and was deciding if he should answer it.

Silver looked at the kid and realized who the kid was; one of Elli’s friends. He flinched a bit and backed up a bit giving more space between him and Elli’s friend. “Awww, come on Silver, Elli just wanted to invite you to an event!” Ruggie looked up with excitement, “An event? Like, with food?” Ruggie seemed very eager.

“I think Elli wouldn’t mind if you brought a plus one.” The kid looked at the hyena with an idea hitting him, Elli wants to destroy Silver, right? Well losing a friend would definitely hurt~

“Could I get your name?” “Ruggie!” Silver seemed to have wanted to stop him from revealing his name to someone Elli is friends with. “Nice to meet you, Ruggie.” Letting out a little laugh, Ruggie shaked the boy's hand. “Silver, Ruggie, the party will be at lunch today, don’t forget!” Ruggie nodded eagerly as the unknown friend of Elli walked away.

“So, are we going to this party~” Ruggie seemed set and Silver never truly had the heart to deny an invitation, especially when his friend seemed excited. “Yeah… is that okay with you?” Silver knew the answer already but still asked respectfully. “Of course~” Ruggie let out a chuckle.

“Alright then, see you at lunch?” Ruggie nodded and ran off to deal with Leona, as Silver was guessing.

At noon Silver and Ruggie met up at the event room in the school.

“Uh, Silver? Not to be a killjoy but this party it’s…” Ruggie looked around at the table, nothing, no food or anything. The room was used as an event room, but not even half was used for anything relating to this “party” the two had been invited to.

“Silvy~” Silver shuddered at the familiar voice. “Silvy?” Ruggie tried to hold in a laugh at the strange nickname that Silver had grown accustomed to by Elli. “H- Hello, Elli.” His voice came off with a struggle. Elli laughed, “That’s no way to be a knight, you know, stuttering.”

“I- I- I- I am so- so- sorry~” A kid from behind started mocking Silver with a response that Silver was going to say, his face grew a bit red and Ruggie noticed this. “Hey! He doesn’t stutter that much!” The kids heard the hyena growl a bit back to them. “Sorry for them, they don’t know how to act super well.” He gave a pointed look clearly telling them, not yet.

“Well, you can apologize with some good food, there is some right?” Elli nodded pointing at the table, which suddenly without anyone noticing had food, a mix of meat and vegetables with some sweets on the table next to it. Ruggies eyes started to shine as he ran over to the table.

10 minutes into the party, nothing had happened, no one was injured or anything. Silver thought maybe he wouldn’t do anything with Ruggie being around.

All of a sudden Silver saw Ruggie and Elli walking into a room together, Elli gave a smirk back at Silver as he closed the door.

Something felt something off when two hands grabbed his arms and started walking him to the table. “Silver, try this, you must be famished!” The one kid gave him a grape and offered it to him. “Here, these are my favs so far!” Silver didn’t have any way of not accepting the offer and accepted it with hesitation.

His world started spinning after eating the grape, realising what had happened, what was in the grape, he ran out of the room. He would push his body to the limit, get to someone and fast, maybe a teacher was nearby.

He noticed 2 familiar people: Kalim and Jamil. He felt like he was getting farther away from them before falling onto the ground.

“SILVER?!”

His consciousness was weighing and he could barely make out anything the two people were saying.

“Ruggie, what do you know about Silver?” Ruggie looked at the host of the party confused, “He falls asleep quite often, he is the knight of Leona’s least favourite person, Malleus…” Ruggie trailed off confused while stating such obvious facts. Elli laughed at the hyena, “what if I told you his father is in the school~ or what about the fact he has a crush on a certain someone~” Ruggie’s ears went down as he listened, “wh- what do you mean his ‘father’ is in the school, like faculty. And-” 

“His father is Lilia Vanrouge~ Not biologically, but with what I learned, he took care of little Silver since forever~” Ruggie could barely make his voice louder than a mutter as he said, “The vice-houseward of Diasomnia?” Elli laughed even louder at the response.

“Come on, that's what is the most shocking~” Ruggie snapped back, “Well, yeah?! A student has a kid here?! Why wouldn’t that be shocking!” Elli laughed harder, “reminder I said he has a crush on someone, he. Is. Gay.” It was Ruggie’s turn to laugh, “Oh noooo he is gay~ shocker… Pretty sure at least half the student body is, and have you met some of the housewardens?”

Elli snapped back with his own remark, “Being gay that’s jus-” “Just what? Wrong? Sevens I didn’t know we had people here with those ideas.” Elli pointed outside of the room, “well as you can see quiet a few~ and little Silver wants to keep his sexuality a secret too.”

Ruggie stared at the strange boy wondering why he hated Silver to the point of making a whole group. He noticed when coming in around 8 people excluding himself, Silver, and Elli. Before he could say something to get out of the situation Elli continued. “You know that housewarden, Riddle I believe his name is, yeah Silver is actually in love with him~” Ruggie stopped, he had questions, how did he know any of this, has he been stalking Silver? But he just got into the school, and what about Riddle? Silver, liked him?

Ruggie couldn’t understand everything he had learned when he suddenly sees Silver running out through the window. He didn’t notice anything before he ran but assumed he was being harassed by some of these kids.

He ran out ignoring Elli yelling about wanting to continue talking about Silver. He finally caught up only to see Kalim and Jamil next to him on the ground. “Silver?!” Kalim was crying and Jamil looked up a bit shocked, “Ruggie, get the nurse, now!” Ruggie looked confused but nodded and started running to the nurses office.

He could hear while he was leaving the three Jamil say something about a deadly poison that Silver had consumed somehow.

Chapter Text

The feeling of poison slowly eating away at Silver, his body felt numb and he couldn’t even open his eyes. He tried over and over for what had felt like an eternity before moving his attention to the noises around his still body.

“Poision?! How did he even-""Please Mr. Vanrouge, we are still trying to figure out what happened.”

He recognized the voice of his concerned father, Kalim probably told him… He has heard Lilia worry over him but something about this time felt strange, what poison was in his system? Why couldn’t he move anything?

“Lilia, we were informed of you and Silver’s relationship, we understand you are worried about him.” Another nurse seemed to be in the room with them. The other nurse spoke up next to Silver. “We need to take tests on him, Mr. Vanrouge I understand your concern for your child, I have my own in fact, but we need some space alone to do tests.” “And what kind of tests will you be performing on Silver?” Lilia spoke with displeasure, Silver knew his father was against tests on him.

“Poison, we will need a blood sample, that is all sir.” The nurse's assistant had answered Lilia immediately. “Plus some magic tools to help figure out how it got into his system.” Lilia sighed as he walked up to Silver, “Please, call me back in immediately when you have results.”

After a few moments Lilia left the room leaving Silver with the two nurses who were readying their tools for the blood test.

After 3 hours Lilia had a call to the nurse’s office saying they were ready. He teleported there immediately without telling Sebek and Malleus where he was going; they knew where he was going after learning about Silver’s condition. He opened the door and went up with his son.

Silver had a needle attached to him removing poison from his system. There was some magic with it causing it to only take the blood that had it.

Lilia looked down at his child, his face in a pained expression, never changing, he went up to Silver’s ear, “Baby? Are you awake?” He heard nothing and didn’t see him getting anywhere close to being awakened. “Nurse, what were the poison test results?” He shot back at the man who was looking down at a board. “He seems to have had something that had botulism inside it.” Lilia looked back down at Silver, his skin seemed paler than usual for the boy.

The nurse cleared his throat before continuing, “Well we are getting signs of being conscious, botulism causes paralysis causing him not to be able to move, he will most likely need physical therapy after this, if Draconia or any classmates want to visit they will be allowed to once we are able to communicate with him.”

Lilia nodded and asked for some time alone with him, the nurse was told about the relationship between the fae and human understanding that Silver’s father probably wanted some time with his son alone.

When the nurse left Lilia sighed and got closer to Silver, holding his hand tightly, “Silver, it’s going to be okay, I know you are probably scared but I am going to be right here and…” He squeezed harder, “I will find out what happened and punish whoever dared to harm you.” His voice was soft but felt vicious, he couldn’t believe someone would poison his own child.

Silver could only listen, unable to respond to Lilia’s words of comfort. He felt like he was just floating there, unable to give his father any notice of his mind being awake. Silver was grateful for the nurse for being able to tell, with magic of course, that he was conscious.

He felt a flinch when they heard the door open, “MASTER LILIA!” Sebek’s voice brought some normality to the room and he could only guess that he was with Malleus.

“Lilia, I heard what had happened from Asim, has he shown any sign of awakening?” Lilia didn’t let go of Silver’s hand as he explained, “Silver is conscious, he was poisoned earlier today it seems…” His voice trailed off noticing the storm outside. “Malleus, it’s going to be okay, the nurse said it would only be in effect for a day.”

Lilia noticed Malleus focus his attention on his knight more than before. “Silver, you are released from your duties of being my knight for the next week, rest up and take it easy.” Lilia chuckled at the scene in front of him, Malleus crouching over Silver holding his hand. He let go after hearing Lilia’s laugh, standing up straighter and turning to Sebek.

“Sebek, could you tell me who Silver has been around?” Lilia looked over to the younger knight as he went into thought, “The usual? Kalim, Ruggie, sometimes Riddle… Oh! And he has this… New…” Sebek seemed to have started trailing off as it hit him. “What’s this friend's name?” Lightning flashed outside with Malleus sitting up and walking up with Sebek, “Elli… I saw him and a few other kids hanging around Silver, only twice though…”

It was as if all the poison fell out of Silver, he couldn’t let his family deal with his issues, “no… he…” Lilia shot back at him eyes wide, Silver barely had his eyes open but still couldn’t talk much. “Silver?! Dear, are you okay?” Lilia hugged him close to his body even though Silver was taller than him.

“Numb…” Silver could only mumble a word to his concerned father. Lilia sighed at the response, “I would tell you how foolish it is to eat random food given from others, but this hardly seems like the time.” He turned back to Sebek who seemed to be in shock from Silver suddenly saying something.

Malleus turned back to Sebek, “Elli again… That still isn’t enough evidence of it being him who poisoned Silver though.”

Silver’s eyes opened more, feeling the botulism that was inside the grape being removed from his system. Lillia noticed this as he grabbed onto Silver’s hand more. “Shh, it’s going to be okay, I promise… Sebek, could you ask Ruggie to come over here, please? Silver I’ll let you rest for a bit, it’s been a long day, I know.” He kissed Silver’s head before turning to Malleus and Sebek and leaving.

Silver was still stuck in bed when Elli arrived. He loved seeing the distress on the other three’s faces. Both nurses left after hearing a fight had broken out. He was thankful to whoever it was who had a fight.

“Silvy~ oh looks like you have some scenes back…” Just how little did they put in the food? “Well either way I was just sooooo worried about you! My friends shouldn’t have done something like that huh?” He looked close at Silver before revealing why he was there.

“I didn’t get to have my fun before that with you, I wanted to see Ruggie join, but he is either a part of this little rainbow group, or he is supportive of it! Either way it was disappointing, I still loved his reaction to hearing you are the son of a student~” Elli saw Silver waver more and more as he revealed what he had told Ruggie.

“Don’t worry because soon enough, actually right about now… EVERYONE WILL KNOW HOW DISGUSTING YOU ARE!” “Wha-”

“I have all my amazing friends who helped me of course! Awww Silvy you didn’t think I was only going to tell everyone if you hid this group from your dear dad did you~” With the satisfaction of Silver not being able to say anything back he started laughing.

“Rest well, Silver.” His voice changed to something more sinister as he walked out of the room hearing Silver mutter, “Shit.” He turned around and called out, “language Silvy~”

Chapter Text

After a day Silver was finally able to move again, although he still had to do physical therapy for a week. He noticed his father, Malleus, and Sebek appear in his room. He cursed under his breath, after all Elli told the school, or as much as he could, about Silver’s crush and Lilia being his father. Silver was taking a break from moving and was resting on the bed when he saw Lilia looking worried, it was storming outside, most likely from Malleus, and Sebek looked down at the floor. “Silver, dear, Diamond came up to me during club practice and asked if you were, well, my son.” Silver felt his eyes water up, “I believe it has something to do with that Elli kid, Lilia.” Malleus cut into the conversation wanting to help with what he could.

“Is Malleus correct, Silver?” Silver nodded slowly, still not looking at Lilia when answering. “I see, what has happened for the past few days?” Silver couldn’t figure out how to answer, all his effort to comply with Elli ended up not mattering, it made his blood boil at the fact that he made Silver feel like he had some, even if it wasn’t a lot, of power. Silver sighed still looking down, he couldn’t bear seeing what his family would think of him.

“Elli told me to never tell you anything he had been doing because he would tell everyone what he seems to have found out about me…” His voice cracked and tears he had been holding in had started to pour out. “He somehow knew about you being my adoptive father and…” His words drifted off.

Silver knew his father most likely wouldn’t care if he was gay but he didn’t know how to admit he had a crush on Riddle. “I understand that part now, you don’t need to tell me everything, it’s okay to go slow with this process, what did he do to you and what happened yesterday, those are the most important questions to me.”

Lilia listened to Silver recount being pressured into eating a grape that was poisoned, how he was visited last night by Elli, the 2 times he was harassed by Elli, what he used as a nickname. Lilia held in any anger as well as he could, for 3 days his child believed that if he kept silent the school wouldn’t find out about his and Lilia’s relationship. “THE AUDACITY TO HARM ONE OF LORD MALLEUS’ KNIGHTS!” Sebek broke in after Silver spoke about everything that happened, still looking away from the trio. “Sebek, inside voice, please.”

“Apologies, Lord Malleus!” Sebek turned to Lilia who didn’t notice any of the tears falling from his face, “Master Lilia, what should we do?” Malleus interjected Sebek’s question with his own question, “Why did you want to keep you and Silver’s relationship a secret, Lilia?” Lilia looked back at them knowing that he had to admit it one day, “I thought it would keep Silver safe, I mean, you can see how he is being treated with people who know…” Lilia looks over at Silver turning his face to his, seeing his father’s tears falling, “Don’t worry, dear, we will deal with Elli, and we will take care of the rumors, promise.” He kisses Silver’s cheek and Silver smiles slightly back at his worried family.

Suddenly a call comes from outside the door, “Silver!” Kalim runs in and hugs the silver haired knight tightly ignoring the three other people in the room with him. “I was so worried about you! Are you okay? Does anything still hurt, I can help with some medicine I have been given when I was poisoned before!” Kalim was eager to help Silver, he hugged the prince back calmly, “I am fine now Kalim, thank you for helping me yesterday.”

“That was all Jamil and Ruggie mostly!” He looked at him smiling at Silver before dipping his head down a bit, backing up, “He also told us that Elli has been stalking you… If you need any help just know we can help, okay?” Silver smiled lightly and nodded to Kalim, Jamil behind them just watched before calling Kalim for class.

Lilia looked over to Malleus and Sebek nodded before lightly kissing Silver on his forehead, “We will be back, get some rest now sweetheart.” He smiled at his father’s kind words and started drifting to sleep.

“What do you want?” Silver looked at Elli feeling anger well up inside of him. It had only been an hour since Lilia, Malleus, and Sebek had left, Elli looking excited at the sound of Silver’s voice, “I thought you might want this~” A note with a rose on it, Silver knew who it was from and felt his blood run cold. He was able to move more since they talked last so he sat up when taking it.

Dear Silver,

I heard about the rumors, I apologize for having to learn this way, members from my dorm keep asking about us and I think it would be appropriate if we could talk.

Neither your feelings or relationships should be used like this, please tell me who started this and I will punish them for their disgraceful behavior to a student in the school.

Of course after you are healed. Please take care of yourself, we can talk whenever you are ready. I don’t want you to blame your feelings on anything, I actually do enjoy your company as much as it seems you enjoy mine.

I still need time to think about my answer to the fact that you love me though I hope you understand, please get better soon.

Riddle Rosehearts

After reading the note Silver felt his pulse rise, Riddle reached out to him, he couldn’t comprehend the note even when he read it the 5th time, Elli stared at him before ripping the note from Silver clearly upset that it was taking so much time. “Sevens you read so slow!” Silver couldn’t hold in any of his anger from everything, Riddle found out he liked him. He couldn’t handle anything he was feeling.

Silver jumped out of his bed with pain in his leg and slapped Elli in the face. “Wow, sleeping beauty has some fight in him after all~” Elli put his hand against his face smiling wide looking back at Silver. “How could you, I thought you said that you wouldn’t tell anyone if I kept your bullying a secret!” Silver snapped holding Elli up by his collar.

Elli simply laughed at seeing the usually calm knight turn angry with hatred finally showing. “Awww did I really say that, I don’t have a good memory Silvy, sorry~” Elli pushed Silver back to his bed with force, he was still weak from the poison, “If only that damn poison actually worked and got rid of you forever…”

Silver blocked the incoming attack from Elli and pushed him back before getting back on his feet. “Seriously, you've done your damage! Just leave already!” Elli laughed as he got back up, “Leave? YOU PEOPLE ARE THE REASON I WAS NEVER NOTICED! Don't tell me to leave when I never had the chance to be seen by the school!” Silver didn't know how to respond to his reveal, “You think you're suffering because of me, ha! It's quite the opposite, you're little dad and prince will PAY!” He ran up to Silver with his pen before Silver dogged him.

“What is your problem?!” Silver backed up ready to attack, even if he didn’t have his pen with him. Elli was just about to send another burst when Silver slammed him to the ground. He couldn’t let him ruin the room no matter what.

Elli pushed Silver off of him before looking at him, “Do it. Now little knight.” Silver didn’t move from against his bed, “HIT ME AGAIN, THAT’S CLEARLY WHAT YOU WANT TO DO IT!” Silver shook his head, “I won't Elli, just leave right now.” Elli couldn't come up with anything instead getting up and started to leave the room, leaving Silver alone with his thoughts.

Silver was completely alone with his thoughts, he could hear kids looking in snickering at his condition. He only had to hold out for 2 more days before he was able to go back to being a student. He looked at the nurse tools that were left.

No one was around him, good.

He got up to the tools moving his hand to the scalpel and picked it up. His body shaked as he went to the bathroom. He needed to do something about the pain he felt, maybe, just maybe if he left the harassment would end, Lilia was probably being bullied too over this, his son was gay and revealed who Lilia was to him. Silver felt like he caused too many issues for the fae who loved him so much.

As he moved the scalpel across his skin it felt like, even if for a moment, everything was better. The blood dripping down his arm, he was still shaking and didn't notice the tears coming down his face. It was like his body and mind were completely cut off from each other. As he moved on to his third? He didn’t remember how many lines he had made on him just that he was dizzy, he felt a force push him down.

“SILVER STOP, PLEASE, DON'T DO THIS.” His mind and body suddenly being put back together causing pain to attack him in a frenzy. He flinched as his eyes stayed closed, the force on top of him breathing heavily and Silver felt, what he could only describe as, rain. The other person pulled him into a hug while shaking. “Shhh, it's okay I am here now dear, let me clean up all of these marks now…” He heard a gasp, “How long have you been in here for Silver… 1, 2…” The other person counted his scars he had inflicted on himself.

“20… Oh Sevens- shit- these have to hurt sweetheart…” He felt his skin crawl from the pain as he opened his eyes to view the person who had stopped him.

Lilia wanted to bring Silver a surprise, after everything that had happened, people stopped him left and right asking about his child. He could hear laughter and slurs being spit out about Silver. He hated every moment that he walked the halls. Malleus and Sebek clearly felt uncomfortable with this new attention coming their way.

When he reached the nurses office he saw boys snickering and snapped at them, “Excuse me, do you need something?” They ran after seeing him. He sighed at the ridiculous way they ran away. He felt like a general before, scaring people just by being near them. Of course they only ran because they knew that Lilia was worried about the child, his son, that they were laughing about.

He felt something tickle his nose and he felt his heart drop, no, no no no no-

His son, Silver, was crying in the bathroom with the door open. The scalpel in his hand got closer to his left arm, which was clearly already bleeding, so was his right arm as Lilia could see. “SILVER!” Lilia snapped, pushing him to the ground holding him, “PLEASE DON'T TELL ME YOU WERE HURTING YOURSELF! PLEASE. Please… Silver, dear…” he never sobbed so much before even when he witnessed murder. His child harmed himself.

20 times. He counted all of the scars that he had on his body. Silver’s eyes were dark with pain as he looked at Lilia. All he could do was do a healing spell on the poor child's arms. “I'm… Sorry… Fath-""Shh, just sleep Silver, please.”

He watched as Silver fell asleep in his arms, breathing, finally slowing down. His heart broke even more when seeing all the blood on the ground, “oh Silver…”

He had an idea suddenly and pulled out his phone texting Sebek and Malleus:

I will be taking Silver back to the cottage. Please tell the teachers and headmage. Could either of you bring his stuff to the house? Thank you

He sighed as he wrote a letter to the nurses about him taking Silver back home before picking up his child in his arms, “You sure have gotten big, huh Silver~” He knew Silver couldn't hear him but couldn’t help but make a little joke before teleporting them to their cottage.

Chapter Text

Silver awoke in a familiar location, he barely could open his eyes but smelled something burning. He sat up slowly looking around. The cottage walls around him and the small kitchen that he and Lilia used. “Silver?” Lilia turned over with a grin when seeing him awake again.

Silver couldn’t remember why he was in the cottage, why Lilia was there with him. Pain shot up his arm stopping his thoughts and he held his arms close. He remembers now, he had harmed himself, cut his arms, Lilia had found him and stopped him from doing any more harm to himself. Looking at his arms now though, they were clean of any evidence of being injured. Clearly Lilia had cleaned them and healed them. He looked up where his father was holding his arms suddenly.

“Shh, you’re okay now, dear.” Lilia looked at him moving a blanket to him, he felt pathetic at that very moment. He wanted to cry, he was weak, he let something as small as rumors, that were true, get to him. He hated every part of his being. He hurt himself, he worried his family, he caused too much pain for them. “I’m sorry father.” He didn’t look Lilia in the eyes when addressing him. “It’s okay Silver, just promise me, never, and I mean never, do such things to yourself, promise?” Silver finally looked up to him and nodded slowly, not being able to hold in any more tears.

Something broke inside of him making all his pent up emotions break after hearing Lilia sound so worried over him. “I’m sorry for everything! I am sorry for harming myself, for never saying anything about Elli, for- for” His head felt foggy and he couldn’t stop anything from getting out of him.

“For being pathetic, weak, always falling asleep, not good enough for any of you! I-” His words cut off with a hug from Lilia suddenly getting him, “None of it was, or is, your fault Silver… Oh, how could I have let you think such thoughts.” He sat up holding Silver’s face, sevens he was a mess, as tears fell from the fae’s face. “Pathetic? Weak? Silver, you are none of those words, you are strong, you help out everyone, Kalim, Sebek, Malleus, no one would disagree if they knew you. Your sleeping curse isn’t a bother to any of us, and you are way more-” Lilia cut himself off trying to compose himself in front of Silver before continuing. “You are far more than we deserve, don’t think for a moment you're weak, Elli hurt you, people will always want to do such things, but don’t, and I mean don’t let his words affect you.”

Lilia looked at Silver waiting for the boy to say something before smelling something, “Um, father… There’s a-” “Oh shit-” He looked back at Silver laughing a bit before getting up and running over to the burned meal. “See, what would have happened if you weren’t here~” He looked back at Silver who smiled, even if it was small, and felt his worries fall away.

Sighing he looked at what was there for dinner. Even his standards were a bit higher than this. Silver moved beside him and offered to cook, “Aww, what a sweet son I have!” He saw Silver blush at the complement as he heard a knock at the door realising who it was. “Come in you two!”

Malleus and Sebek stepped inside of the cottage, nothing in their hands, surprising Lilia, “Um, Malleus, Sebek, did you get my request?”

“We did Lilia, but there was something about your sudden decision that made the Headmage confused.” Malleus turned to Silver looking at the boy who was cooking, “why did you decide to take him home?” Lilia flinched, he would have to tell them, he knew that, looking at Silver who simply nodded as an acceptance to Lilia wanting to tell them, he sighed and looked at them.

“Earlier, Silver… He harmed himself. I rushed and thought that this was the best place for him to be, away from Elli…” Sebek and Malleus looked between the two of them before Malleus simply walked up to Silver, Sebek had his mouth hanging open at the fact that Silver harmed himself.

Silver couldn’t look into Malleus’ eyes as he heard the prince talk, “Silver-” “I already talked to him about it Malleus, no need to push more.” Lilia looked over at Malleus before seeing him simply continue, “I never want to see, or hear about you harm yourself, understood?” Silver nodded before feeling hands on his shoulder. “Silver, you are my knight, someone who I need to stay by my side, but that doesn’t mean your feelings should be pushed down.” Sebek spoke up behind him, “Lord Malleus is correct, human!” He hurried over to Silver.

“Lord Malleus and the Headmage took care of Elli! He has been kicked out of the school!” Malleus added while Silver and his father looked at each other surprised at seeing the rare moment of doing something for the students from Crowley. “He also expelled anyone who was a part of the group Elli made. Everything has been taken care of.” Lilia laughed loudly after hearing about such strangely good acts that had happened in the school.

A thought hit Lilia when they were having dinner, “Silver since the school knows about you being my adopted son…” He trailed off suddenly not knowing how to ask the question. Silver looked at him while Malleus tried figuring out the question he was going to ask, “Do you want him to gain your last name, Lilia?” Silver’s face was full of shock and tears were welling up. “Yes… Silver, I understand if you-” “Yes!” Silver’s rare moment of screaming the answer back was short but Lilia enjoyed seeing such excitement over something he saw as strange to want. He wanted to be a Vanrouge?

“Yes father, I would really like that…” He blushed as looking down at his food again, “If you’ll let me.” Lilia laughed at how foolish he saw Silver being, wasn’t he asking if he wanted it? Sevens how he loved his awkward son. “Alright then, Silver, when we head back tomorrow we will ask for an update on your name. Silver Vanrouge… That has a charm to it doesn’t~” He looked at Silver who was smiling while looking at him, “yes, thank you father.”

Sebek was crying and saying how gracious Lilia was while Malleus was simply continuing his meal happily watching Lilia kiss Silver’s cheek with love. The storm had finally passed for them. The only issue would be how Riddle responded to Silver, Lilia only hoped that he would see how Riddle would respond to hearing his son loving him.

Chapter Text

Silver had to hold in his breath while walking to the equestrian club. Riddle had told him to meet him there after school. The halls felt like they lasted forever as his thoughts spiraled. The note in his hand from Riddle felt like a stone to Silver, he hated feeling nervous over something like this. “Silver~” Suddenly he felt someone hug him, surprising him, Lilia looked at him smiling wide, “Oh, are you going to meet up with someone, ah young love~” He grabbed the note from Silver who was still in shock looking at his father who was reading it. “Riddle really is a sweet kid isn’t he.”

Lilia looked up at Silver who’s face was already burning up with embarrassment, “I doubt he actually likes me… I mean I- ""Stop with that thinking, I doubt he doesn’t, heh, you might not have noticed him but I have, he enjoys your presence.” Silver felt a hand hold his and Lilia looked at him once more, “How about your old man joins? Would that make it better?” Silver laughs a bit and nods, “Yes, thank you, father.”

They had headed to the club where Riddle was already in his club uniform, hair pushed back and having his helmet in his arms. “Ah you're here Silver.” He looked next to the silver haired boy and added, "As well as Lilia it seems.” Lilia walked up to Riddle, “Just curious, if you say no and don’t explain I will comfort him, that’s all I am here for.” He felt proud as saying something Silver saw as childish to do, “It’s fine, really father…” Silver felt his face turn more red before Riddle spoke up.

“Well there is no need to worry…” Silver noticed then that Riddle’s face was a bit redder than usual as he put down his helmet. “Silver I- Sorry I really am not good with these kind of things, and well…” His eyes turned to Lilia who was still standing there with a fang showing before turning to Silver, “I really am sorry about everything, you shouldn’t have had to be forced out with your feelings, with your relationship with Lilia.” Silver shook his head before cutting Riddle off. “It’s okay, really, thank you though Riddle. I am sorry for feeling-”

“I do like you!” Riddle’s voice sounded like a small shreek, “I do, and have for some time. So, Silver…” Silver knew what was about to be asked and simply said, “Yes, thank you, Riddle.” He got closer to the shorter boy and hugged him before hearing his father clap at the confession. “See, nothing to worry about, I raised a sweet and amazing son, who wouldn’t love you Silver~” Riddle and Silver laughed at the interruption and Silver nodded with Riddle agreeing to his statement.

Sebek suddenly appeared with Malleus, they definitely heard the confession and Malleus walked up to his young knight patting his shoulder, “It’s good to see you feeling better Silver.” Sebek seemed embarrassed for interrupting a romantic moment between Riddle and Silver staying quiet as they all talked.

Everything was back to normal, with Lilia and Silver’s relationship being revealed and Silver having a boyfriend Lilia went back to his energetic self. “Silver!” The father and son heard someone call out to Silver behind them, “Oh? Kalim hello there~” Lilia spoke first, “He- Hello mr. Vanrouge!” Lilia laughed loudly after hearing himself being called mr. “No need to call me that, just treat me like before Kalim.” Kalim looked between them, “It’s just-””It’s okay Kalim, I don’t want you to think of me any differently just because I raised a friend of yours, okay?” Kalim nodded before Silver spoke up, “Did you need something?” He suddenly got snapped back to what he was there for and handed Silver a notebook. “Here are all the assignments that you missed, I copied all the notes down on this page and…” Lilia watched as Kalim talked about everything that had been happening since Silver’s accident and smiled.

After a moment Jamil sighed and spoke up to Kalim, “We need to get to your next class Kalim.””Oh right! Well see you later Lilia and Silver!”

“How sweet” Lilia watched them walk off before looking back at his son who had a relaxed smile on his face, “I believe we should be heading to our next classes too, see you dear~” Silver nodded waving to him, Lilia could only think; What an amazing son I have~

Silver felt someone chuckle, it sounded familiar, as he opened his eyes he saw Lilia looking at him. He had fallen asleep under the tree he usually goes too and looked up to see Lilia smile at him. “How are you feeling dear?” Silver picked himself up. After his breakdown in the bathroom Lilia made sure he didn’t do anything of the sort again and would check on him at least three times a day making sure he was okay.

“Father again, I am okay.” Lilia perked up, he probably was happy seeing Silver snap back, it wasn’t something Silver did when he was younger so it was an interesting change. “Sorry, I just need to make sure my child isn’t doing anything reckless again~” Silver sighed as he got up feeling hands on his shoulders. His father looked like he was on the brink of tears, “I am just so proud of you, know that Silver. I love you, and will love you forever, and ever.” He felt a sudden hug from his father.

“I know, I love you too, father.” He felt Lilia hold him more tightly, “good.” He let go of Silver and turned his face, “Now, it’s lunch, why don’t we head to Malleus and Sebek.” Silver nodded and they headed over, confidence welled up inside of him when around Lilia. He was truly loved by this fae. He was loved by so many people in the school he felt stupid for never noticing it before now. “Thank you father.” He whispered under his breath hearing Lilia answer.

“No, thank you Silver, you truly are the best thing to have happened to me.”
