What better way to deal with writers block than make another story that I’ll struggle to keep up with UwU

Chapter 1: A messy situation

Chapter Text

You were nervous about starting your new job. Driving through a dense forest with a barely visible path was making you more and more nervous the longer you drove. You had just started working as a professional cleaner, going through a company rather than freelance and your first job just had to be out in the middle of fucking no where, in a cabin the woods.

If we’re being honest here, you volunteered to take this job.

No one else was brave, or stupid, enough to take the job but you. You had felt wild and adventurous at the time. In all honesty you were kind of hoping that he might get worried when you told him about the job in the middle of the woods. But the last time he replied to any of your messages was two weeks ago. He had just sent a simple ‘lol’ to a meme you had sent him. You almost missed the generic excuses he would use to avoid hanging out with you.

‘i’m busy.’

‘works been rough lately.’

‘i just don’t have time.’

‘you’re being too clingy.’

You batted your eyes a few times, forcing yourself to not think about it as you focused on the road instead. Just how far into the woods were you going to find this place? It felt like something straight out of a horror movie, and you were the dumb girl heading straight towards an axe murderer or something. You let out a sharp exhale from your nose. You had brought pepper spray and a pocket knife. Just in case.

After several more minutes of driving you finally came upon the place. For being out in the middle of nowhere, the place didn’t look too bad. It actually looked like a cute little wooden cabin. It was quaint. It had a cute little path of stone leading up to the porch, and flowers planted around the path. There was a telescope that was sitting on the porch, pointed up at the sky. You quickly looked away from that, batting your eyes once more as you exhaled sharply again.

Get it together already. You had a job to do. Parking your car, you got out and walked around to your trunk. Opening it, you quickly got out your cleaning supplies and gloves before heading down the path to the door. Walking up to the door, You juggled the supplies in one arm as you raised your other arm to rasp your knuckles on the door. You gave it a few polite knocks before waiting. After a few minutes ticked by, you gave another few knocks. Still nothing. Taking a deep breath, you tried the door knob. You twisted.

It opened.

You hesitantly stepped inside, glancing around warily as you did. This was starting to really really feel like a scene out of a horror movie. Call it curiosity, but it was probably stupidity, you kept walking into the cabin.

“Hello?” You called out, standing half out the door as you called into the place. You waited for a moment before taking another step inside. “I’m with Happy Cleaners, I’m here to clean your house.” You called out again, taking one more step until you were fully inside. You carefully closed the door behind you.

“Hello?” You said again, walking forward into what seemed like a living room slash kitchen. Glancing around, you didn’t see any sign of anyone.

“Is anyone home?” Walking further into the cabin, you went down a hallway. There were three doors. The first door was wide open and held a bathroom. No one was in there, thank the stars. You would’ve been mortified if you had walked in on someone on the toilet, or stars forbid, the shower. You came to the second door, closed, before knocking. When no reply came you curiously peeked inside. A pristinely clean room met your sights. Well, this room you wouldn’t have to worry about at all. Walking to the final door you, again, knocked and waited. No answer once again. Opening the door your eyes widened in horror.

While empty the room was an absolute mess. Dirty clothes and trash was thrown everywhere. You were sure there was a bed somewhere under all that pile of junk but you had no idea where. Thankfully you didn’t see any, or smell any, rotten food. The other guys and gals have been telling you their own little personal horror stories about different houses and it definitely left an impressionable mark on you. You shuddered as you remembered the pictures one coworker, Donny, had shown you. You could practically taste the photo in the back of your throat and had gagged so violently that all your coworkers had laughed and made fun of you for the rest of that day.

Thankfully, aside from this room, this place didn’t look that bad. There were some dishes in the sink, and maybe the floors could be mopped, but the only real issue in the house was this room. And it looks like the owners are gone. They had probably felt a little embarrassed by the state of the room and hadn’t wanted to be around while you cleaned it. Well, that works better for you anyways. You could work in peace and quiet, maybe listen to music while you did. You had brought your headphones on the off chance the owners were okay with you jamming out as you worked. And seeing as they weren’t here, you totally could.

~~~~~~~~~~
He didn’t like this. Axe didn’t like some… stranger in his cabin. In his room.
Watching you silently with narrowed eye sockets, he wished you would shut up so he could think. You were singing off key to some song Axe had never heard before.
Things were so different here.
He couldn’t strangle you to death just because you got on his nerves. Realizing he had been reaching for the back of your neck, Axe ‘ported away, watching from the half closed door to his room as you stiffened and rubbed at the back of your neck. You glanced around, eyes confused before shrugging and continuing to hum out nonsense.
Axe squeezed his fingers together into fists, wishing he could just materialize his axe and chop you into little bits.
You could probably feed him and Jaws for a day or two.
But Axe held back. Jaws needed a break from constantly cleaning up after Axe. The taller skeleton was starting to look noticeable worn out, his magic still not where it used to be. So Axe had convinced his lesser self to give him enough money to hire a cleaning service, just something on a weekly basis to keep Axe’s room from turning into the mess it currently was now.
But still, seeing you in his room, touching his things, he might just gut you for it after it’s all said and done. After Jaws is back to one hundred percent stars knows that Axe will never be there again he might just get rid of you. What his lesser self didn’t know couldn’t hurt him. It was just some cleaning lady. No one would miss you.
Stars, Axe couldn’t wait to strangle that little neck of yours.
~~~~~~~~~~

You were dirty, tired, and sweaty, but you were done. You had finally cleaned up the bedroom. You had indeed found a bed under the mountains of dirty clothes and trash, a very dirty bed. You were absolutely shocked that you hadn’t found any bugs around the room. The several full trash bags outside the porch were a testimony to your hard work.

After you were done with that room, you gave the floor around the cabin a quick mop before you started on those few dishes you had seen. You had just gotten the temperature perfect and had picked up a glass cup to start washing it when you heard the door slam open. You jolted on the spot and whirled around, still holding the glass cup. You saw a familiar looking chest plate before starting to glance up, a half smile playing on your lips.

“Papy…rus?” The name soured on your tongue as your eyes widened as you got to his face. He looked like Papyrus. Even had the same outfit as him. Something that was very noticeably different though was his teeth. They were spilling out of his mouth, crooked and much sharper than you remember them being. Squinted, you noticed that he was wearing braces. Had Papyrus had something happen to his teeth since the last time you saw him. The look alike Papyrus seemed to jolt as you spoke. Hearing rustling, you noticed for the first time he was carrying grocery bags. You two just stared at each other in silence before the maybe Papyrus’ gaze slid past you to something behind you.

“AH, AXE! THE CLEANER LADY KNOWS PAPYRUS SOMEHOW.” He talked just like Papyrus too. Loud. You grimaced before your head turned slightly. There shouldn’t be anyone behind you. That way led to the hallway with the bathroom and rooms and there was no one in there when you checked. So imagine your shock when you saw a very familiar face. Or well skull.

Your eyes brightened and a giant grin broke out on your face as you set the cup down and rushed towards your soulmate to give him a hug.

“Sans!” You exclaimed cheerfully. You knew he wasn’t big on affection, but surely he’d forgive you this one time.
