Time travel. It was always something that confused Jackson. He doesn’t understand its correlation to ancient magic either.
Because a few months ago the year was 1995 and he and his half sister were investigating some ruins with traces of ancient magic, and the next they were being tutored on magic by some guy they’d never met and it was 1898.
Jackson’s quill lightly tapped his potions notes as he stared off into a corner of the classroom. He often found himself zoned out, probably some sort of thing his mind did to keep him from thinking about the eldritch horror that awaits him when he finds his way back to the future, his present.
Professor Sharp cleared his throat and spoke in an authoritative tone, “Mr. Burns, care to join us?”
Jackson’s attention snapped to the professor as a few students snickered.
“Yes, sir,” Jackson nodded and sat up straight.
The professor sighed and returned to his lecture about some color changing potion. This would definitely be on the exam.
Jackson found out very quickly that he preferred Professor Sharp over Professor Snape, even though Snape was the head of Slytherin house. Snape always seemed harder on Jackson than the other students in his house, most notably Draco Malfoy. Jackson’s sister insists it’s because Snape sees more potential in Jackson than Draco, not that any of that would matter now. The siblings are stuck in the past with no idea how to get back.
Jackson remembers the situation at Hogwarts in the present. Umbridge was in charge, and seemed to hate Jackson and love his sister. Jackson always thought it was because she was popular with the rest of the slytherin and was friends with Draco. He’s not sure now because the headmaster in 1898 doesn’t seem to like her at all. He kinda reminded Jackson of Umbridge.
