Chapter Text
The dark was all Owen could see, and not having night vision was infuriating, but he'd gotten used to it, of course he had, it'd been 200 years; he'd counted all this time, not that it mattered much, but old habits die hard.
As he was wandering it started to get, brighter? And a breeze started to pick up, which rarely happened. Then, suddenly, the gentle touch of a pair of hands on his shoulders.
"Missed me?" A familiar voice said, one he knew very well.
Owen turned around, and there was Louis, hovering infront of him with a playful smirk.
"Yeah, of course I missed you! I've been wandering the dark with seemingly no one else here." He was annoyed, but he couldn't be too much, not infront of Louis, cause Louis didn't put him here, or want to.
"Well, give or take a few more years and we can be together for eternity, like we always planned..." Louis' tone turned from playful to a soft melancholy.
"Really?"
"Yeah..." Louis looked at him so sweetly, before shedding a few tears.
"Then how..?"
Louis wiped his tears away before going back to being bubbly and playful.
"Reincarnation!"
"What-"
"The big boss upstairs," Louis said pointing up, "decided, you know, it's been long enough, and well if you want to stay up there with me, you can. But of course there's some ground rules; number one, stay human, and number two, die by natural causes."
"That's it?"
"Yep! Well I guess, don't do crime, but as long as you follow, we can finally be together. So, what do you say..?"
Owen was speechless, a way out was something he'd wanted this whole time; he'd gotten one when he was with Abolish, but that still wasn't the end, only the prolonging of a suffering that followed him, even to death.
"... of course." Owen started to sob, throwing himself on Louis, embracing him, Louis soothed him.
After a few minutes of sobs and comfort, Louis went back up to tell the big boss the response.
"Next time you see me you'll be anew." He had said before he left.
