jungkook wasn’t quite sure how he had managed to convince his hyung to come out with him for the evening, but here they were, walking down the streets. the sun was setting, the night cooling down, and while yoongi hyung wasn’t much of a talker, his company was a warm presence in the autumn evening. jungkook couldn’t remember the last time he had felt so free, without any pressure of schedules for the rest of the day. the rest of their work was all set to happen tomorrow, and they were free until then.

 

so that’s how they had ended up here, walking around by the river now. it had taken ten minutes of jungkook dropping hints around the dorm for yoongi to finally stand up, saying that he needed to stretch his legs too. the air was chilly outside, and jungkook had gotten himself bundled up in a large fluffy sweater that was too big on him. in his defense, it was cozy. yoongi hadn’t only come with him out for a walk, but also given into to his request to go out for lamb skewers. all in all, jungkook was generally very happy with how things had played out.

 

as they walked beside each other, their breath came out in puffs of smoke, and the tip of jungkook’s nose had gone completely numb ten minutes ago. he couldn’t find it in himself to complain though; this moment was worth everything to him. sometimes he forgot, he forgot that it was a mere few years ago when none of this had even existed. he wasn’t making music, he wasn’t doing what he loved. and it was times like this, out in the cold night, his stomach full and with good company, was when he felt the overwhelming gratefulness was over him in waves. he couldn’t stop himself from smiling down at his feet.

 

yoongi’s fingers reached out to tangle with his, their hands dangling between them, and jungkook looked back up to see the hint of a smile on yoongi’s face.

 

yeah, he had definitely gotten more than he had ever expected.
