    I think it's more noted in the Rebuilds that his cooking is good. But almost every fic I've read no matter which timeline it's based on goes out of its way to note Shinji's cooking as genuinely great. So seeing otherwise is a fun change of pace

    Yeah no Asuka has probably never cooked for herself in her life given her upbringing. I'd say she's probably better than Misato by virtue of being a blank slate where has Misato actively tries to make things taste "like that" because she enjoys them
