Comment on curses, miracles, and pale silver linings

  1. Thank you so much!!!! I fear I’ve been a tad slow getting to comments to reply to them recently, but believe me, this made my day the first time I saw it :]

They’re just such a potently interesting combo to me. Two people so different on the surface, because you have Hornet, a hunter, trained her whole life for combat, resilient to all kinds of malicious forces, and then also Eva, defined by her frailty as it is what would have her be seen as a failure to herself and her mothers, who may only aid from inside a cage… But they’re also still parallels! They both break the Weaver curse and see each other as fantastical and wonderful, because they both first look at each other and go “wow…” whilst Hornet also instantly relates Eva to herself. They see each other as so incredible, so when they then share that feeling of relation to each other, it’s uplifting!! Gently so!!! So tender!! I just love how the game set them up so intimately in so few lines, eheh.

Super happy to hear that your excited ;) I took a little break after this chapter to write for a couple of other fandoms for a week, but honestly, I’m super excited for what’s to come to. The Abyss was (before I realised the length of what I was writing) supposed to originally be the climax of the first chapter, so I always had a lot of thoughts about where it was going to go. Obviously it’s been pushed back a little by now, but those thoughts haven’t gone away ;)

Really glad you like the flow of this!!! A lot of the structure of scenes here was written around just what would flow best, and I admittedly struggle a bit with pacing fight scenes, so I wasn’t totally certain how well it would work once completed, ahah. So, yeah, just super happy to hear that all worked out. I really really like Karmelita, so I really really wanted to do her justice here, but as I said, I don’t consider battle scenes to be my strong suit, so I had to get a little creative with how to build it up satisfactorily. Eva’s song is clearly so important because she defines as the Sylphsong in game, so I thought it would be neat to use that, and if you particularly enjoyed that sequence, then it must have hit its mark!! :D

Thank you once again for this lovely comment, and I hope you continue to enjoy in the future!
