This is a really good start! Putting this in a universe where Yu actually chose to protect Adachi is a really interesting choice. I am a little worried about how things will pan out, since I really can't imagine how Chie would ever forgive him for aiding and abetting the serial killer that threatened their lives and ruined their town. I mean, you could go the tragic route where they get together but this discovery breaks them up, but if they're eventually heading toward a happy ending, Yu is going to need one heck of a redemption arc.
Thanks for the kind feedback! Yu's road to redemption will be really hard one and honestly for what I have planned, some might just call it atonement rather than redemption. I don't want to reveal too much but I can tell you Chie won't take it lightly for sure, once she finds out and who knows ? Maybe she won't forgive Yu, maybe she will just understand him and his mistakes and have feelings for him at the same time. (Small Goro Akechi reference).
