I still can't believe Coral and Sidian basically trying to outright kill Meowscarada and Crocalor actually happened in canon. I love Liko and Roy being angry as hell over everything they've done. The way you write it makes everything feel more intense, which is more satisfying than canon's softer edges.
I appreciate the Amethio mentions as well; it was so bizarre in canon that Liko seemed to not have made any attempts to find out what happened to Amethio after they parted ways in Laqua. I know she was more focused on Friede, fair enough, but she didn't even know he was presumed dead until Zirc and Onia told her.
I know right that scene astounded me when I first saw it. Like—what? But I wanted to focus a lot more on how Liko and Roy were feeling, because Pokémon as a show doesn’t give the characters many opportunities to get angry over stuff like this, and in this case particularly I think it’s well-deserved. Liko and Roy have been hurt so much by these two, even if they are half the reason they’re as good at battling as they are.
I actually went back and forth a lot on the Amethio bits, because on one hand, Spinel said that Amethio died in Laqua, and Liko saw him escape firsthand, so she knows that’s not true. But I realized that, on the other hand, she doesn’t know if Spinel managed to get him after the fact, so I think she’d have a lot more hope but also have a lot more to fear. Still considering making that concept into its own oneshot not gonna lie
