Bruce would definitely benefit from therapy. Especially to learn how to treat himself-and-Hulk nicely. But you're right. He's not at a point where he'd take it in.
The hell of traumatic stress is that it fucks up your ability to adapt. Bruce's logical-mathematical intelligence buffers that in terms of lab space; he's still comfortable with it, Hulk really isn't. With Hulk it's the opposite; he's much more adaptive in response to people, being the emotional genius of the two. Bruce is having a really hard time realizing how much his environment has changed and what he needs to do in order to capitalize on that -- including the fact that Hulk behaving better means Bruce should stop treating him like a monster.
But well, this is something that happens with abused children, they tend to repeat the cycle. Bruce's "call him a monster and lock him in the closet" approach to managing Hulk is straight out of their own childhood. :( When that sinks in ... kerplowie.
Oooh! I am not looking forward to that breakdown. (Well, I am, but for the comfort that comes after it.) Hopefully, Uncle Phil can see the breakdown coming though, and help reduce the damage?
Eventually, yes. The problem is that Bruce is a runner, and when the team's support of him abusing Hulk exceeds his tolerance, he'll bolt. Which lasts until Hulk manages to sit on him long enough to sneak home and get help.
South America. Bruce is small, fast, experienced, and fucking stubborn. But Hulk is just as experienced and stubborn, with his own resources for moving at speed, and much sneakier than most people realize. ;) Except Steve. It only took one example of Hulk mimicking a boulder for Steve to clock him.
Yes, Hulk is so smart. He just hasto use different aspects of hiding, but he can still hide. Both Bruce and Hulk are brilliant at hiding in plain sight. At least one of his team members know how good Hulk is at being sneaky.
