Comment on Direwolf Shepherd

  1. I agree and it's not only that, but a ruler is at fault as well. In my opinion it started with Rickard Stark(slightly) and then passed onto Ned. He should not have been raised in the Vale, even if he was, he should not stick to his rigid honor all the time. Not to mention he built a sept at Winterfell. That's how Gardeners converted eventually. He can jerk off his "old way" and "blood of the first men" as much as he likes when he does not truly respect it. His focus on the south instead of North is proof. And Robb is fruit of his honor. Along with idiocy of his mother. Her actions are essentialy making house Stark into Rivermen instead of Northmen. Marrying a Frey into
Starks over a use of bridge is an insult. Red Wedding was messege for northmen not to deal with south. In the end it will be left for Jon to clean up the mess others created.
I actually wouldn't mind if asoiaf ends with Jon becoming KitN and cutting ties with south returning to the old way of the first men. It may not be a "bittersweet" ending, but for majority of fandom who are wet for someone sitting in the Iron Throne and Jon having sex with his aunt could be. He always wanted to be a Stark, and in the end he will "become" one. Even if he was already one in everything but name.

    1. It started with the maester of Rickard Starks time, Wyles Flower, as far as i can remember the name, was the one who installed the southron ambition, and i think there is a solution to the war of the five kings, Beorn (first and last option i believe, based on Eddards love for honor) had to connect Ned with the great shepard through the heart tree and the Old Gods, as well as, in the case of the war of kings does happened, invite the Free Folk but give them the option that Raiding and Pillaging is not allowed IN the North, but the south is available, it can also add extra men when they march down south. Im not making a lot of sense, my mind us jumbled up all over the place XD

Another drawback of Neds Andal Honor is him sparing the Greyjoy maleline, and not asking for the "hiring" of Ironborn shipwrights and builders.

      1. I personaly think that Ned should not go south at all. Then again, it depends if Catelyn remains a ambitious trout she is in the books.

As for the Free Folk, I agree.
