Comment on A Shred of Hope (The Walking Dead Game) (Retelling of the Final Season)

  1. Ahhh man. Happy endings are rare (and even rarer to have pulled off decently)

But these Ericson kids definitely make me want to protect them from all harm. If only our mighty Boat God Kenny was around.

Also Mitch died far too soon and Marlon and Brody has a lot going for them before they croaked. Pretty salty about their deaths, specially since we couldn’t even do anything about it

    1. I think I have your Marlon and Brody problems sorted haha. I really enjoyed working with all of them. They have a depth that Telltale didn't exploit. Mitch was a good character but I guess you had to kill someone in the raid. Pretty unbelievable that no one would die.

I see you're a Kenny fan yourself! Always good to hear that. His death really pissed me off. It was so shallow and plot-based

      1. I don’t even think it was plot based honestly. The survivor options in s2 didn’t matter, Kenny, Jane, or Wellington would’ve died/get razed.

And for what? It was all sudden and left me feeling dissatisfied. And yes I enjoy your Brody and Marlon characterization. Hate Marlon all you want, but dude was a kid when all this went down.

And everybody makes mistakes. His just happens to be bigger then the usual. Plus, Ericson for Troubled Youth and all

        1. I agree. He was faced with a horrible choice. I'd probably do the same in that situation.
TFS was far too end-oriented. It seemed like the entire purpose was to quickly finish up the story. The characters are really good, but you don't feel particularly happy. I mean, the mark of a really good story is the aftermath leaves you feeling empty. Or maybe, the fact that I was writing my own rendition negated that effect for me. Either way, I wish Telltale hadn't gotten cocky

          1. Feel like if Telltale didn’t shut down, we might’ve had a moderately better story (Maybe less character deaths or determinant fates instead?) and The Wolf Among Us 2! Why Telltale ;_; I wanted Bigby’s sequel

And yeah, the setting was good, the characters likable, but it certainly felt limited

            1. Oh yeah! TWAU 2 is something I really want to see. That is the best TT game after TWD.
I would've loved determinant fates. Choices that actually got Clem or AJ killed. Would've felt more..... personal

              1. And if Marlon, Mitch, Brody, and Minnie’s deaths were all determinant, I would’ve been a hell of a lot happier.

And you would’ve bet your ass I would redo the game as many times as necessary to give those wacky kids their happy ending. They deserve that much

                1. Happy endings give you the warm, fluffy feeling. Unfortunately, in a world like TWD, happy endings are rare. It's the humans that are a threat. Walkers are simply a catalyst for their lack of humanity

                  1. Walkers are sort of the filler. It’s humanity that is the main threat.

          2. I wonder... Did this fic's Marlon choose not giving up twins and got full scale Delta attack as a reward?

            Comment Actions
            1. Yes. Marlon was never faced with that choice since that wasn't what Delta wanted. Beth is a calculating woman and if she decided to take down the entire school, she knew there was more to gain. This would technically take place much before the book starts since we meet Louis and Violet staying at Forest House, not Ericson's.
