This is a fascinating look at how the Hyper Intuition might work - the descriptions are intensely minute (also in the title. Great title, btw.), and it even explains why Primo's ghost keeps popping up with its head on fire.

Some of the Family's historians had wondered whether Primo had, later in his known life, suffered from hallucinations or some sort of encroaching insanity which he could unconsciously overcome through his Dying Will - but Reborn had known the truth from long hours of silent vigil, gun in hand, even before he was ever told of this theory.
The world is awfully noisy. Period.

This part is really cool - it adds something to Reborn's character, and also is pretty badass. It was also interesting to see the bit about he experiences being turned into a baby over and over.

I've always thought that there were instances of the hyper intuition during the Daily Life arc, though, even if it hyper intuition is probably still an idea that Amano came up with later. Tsuna was the only one who spotted weird behaviour, noticed that Bianchi's cooking is from hell (along with Gokudera, who has prior experience), and saw through Reborn's disguises. It's one of the funniest parts of KHR to me how all that ridiculous crack of Daily Life had such a bearing on the more serious parts of the manga.

      Thank you!

I guessed that, back in the 1800's (assuming that's when Giotto lived), there was a lot less noise and distractions, all the more in a shit-hole town such as the one we see in his flashbacks. And when you live in a dangerous place, or are under constant danger, being acutely aware of your surroundings would be extremely helpful.

On the other hand, in our noisy and colorful modern world, being acutely aware of everything would be pretty much hell. The least damaging and invasive sense would actually be sight, ironically enough, which is why I imagine the world through Tsuna's eyes would be intensely colorful and textured (and all those instances in which Reborn is wearing an obvious disguise... maybe it's actually not obvious at all and we're seeing things through Tsuna-vision? This idea wouldn't let go of me).

Oh gosh, I hadn't thought of Bianchi's cooking at ALL - it must have looked AND smelled beyond foul to him! D: And maybe... all those bugs which constantly crawl through her stuff... what if he's the only one who can see them?! That's some sixth sense stuff right there .__.

Now what else did we have in the Daily Life arc that looked obvious to Tsuna but went over everyone else's head?

It's one of the funniest parts of KHR to me how all that ridiculous crack of Daily Life had such a bearing on the more serious parts of the manga.

Suddenly Giotto seems more awesome, and also a more likely crime boss. The idea that he had that advantage makes it feel more plausible that he'd feel able to beat the opponents he'd make for himself.

I can't think of any more examples ... but it occurs to me that it's really pretty sad that he never realises that Gokudera and Haru are serious about their respect/affection for him. He notices all this stuff about events and people but still can't bring himself to believe that people could like him that much. (Then again, they like him excessively.)

Irie still boggles me. IRIE. WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT.
I always thought he was coming back because his introductory chapter was named after him, which seemed to indicate that the character would be recurring. It was still unexpected that he'd come back and (appear to) be killing all the characters I love!

Is it strange that I think Giotto and the Vongola Family didn't start as a crime family at all? I even wrote a lengthy theory on TV Tropes' KHR Wild Mass Guessing page about this, but to make it short, I kinda think they started out as a Shounen save-the-world group, what with having the Tre-ni-Sette rings which can create or destroy the world, and the huge group they put together was basically intended to protect the muggles and support their magical-super-sentai activities from the shadows. Everything went down the criminal path because Daemon Spade believed the ends justified the means, and so their original purpose was forgotten in time.

he never realises that Gokudera and Haru are serious about their respect/affection for him.

I think he reads them as being creepily obsessive about him. And let's be fair, in the beginning that's exactly what they were. I think he also came to the conclusion that their attitude was unhealthy and he had to discourage it. He's always insisting to both of them that he's their friend, dammit, first and foremost. There's also the fact that he doesn't believe himself worthy of that much respect. Gokudera, I think, is reaching a middle ground - he's learning to see Tsuna for who he is, but he's also trying to show Tsuna that the Real Tsuna deserves to be admired, warts and all. As for Haru... well, she's funny, but needs to put her feet on the ground before there can be any improvement in how he sees her.

I always thought he was coming back because his introductory chapter was named after him

When I first read the daily life arc, I... I was kinda wishing it would just end and the epic shounen fights would start already. So, though Irie's chapter stood out (what with introducing a memorable character in memorable circumstances plus an obvious plot-hook in the Bovino's gift box), by the time I reached Kokuyou I had completely forgotten about him. When the Future arc came around and we were shown his picture, I didn't recognize him at all... but I kept thinking to myself "Irie? I'm pretty sure this name came up somewhere..." Now imagine my look of surprise when he told his story!

          1. You are completely right with your belief that it did not start out as a crime group; you probably already found out yourself by now, but it was indeed Daemon Spade that caused it to go down a path of crime, and even staged a coup, Primo leaving the grounds of Italy for Japan afterwards.

Also, here's another early sign of Hyper Intuition; something, that, after thinking about it, is actually a lot more obvious a sign than just being the only one to see through Reborn's disguises. I mean, really- it wasn't just Tsuna watching the petal fall down and causing Hibari to wake up, he deliberately acted as though something was off about the flowers at his bedside, before anything happened, before the petal showed any sign of falling. It's been a while since I read the manga, so I can't recall it occuring there, but I was watching someone's compilation of funny moments in the anime and I realized that no, really, what made Tsuna pay attention to the flowers, of all things, when it was just innocently sitting there next to Hibari during that time they shared a room at the hospital. Just... something I realized recently.
