I would love you to write a separate story about Cassie and Tim being the best friends who act and love each other as brothers, although many people (to their discontent) assume they are a couple! I have read several stories of yours, centered on Tim, and I have loved all of them (although this is the first story where I tell you). And if that adds to how much I love the friendship / brotherhood of Tim and Cassie, the result is that, no doubt, I would love to see such a story because it has so much potential. And also because I know it would be a lovely and very good story.
There are so many possibilities that can be implemented in the premise supported by these four basic points: - Tim and Cassie are childhood friends (and they have known each other almost as babies) because their parents, Helena Sandsmark and Jack and Janet Drake, became very close friends who met during an archaeological expedition. - Helena's friendship with the Drake marriage made her named as Tim's godmother. This makes Tim grow up with a healthier mother figure, since Helena would not behave like Janet as far as raising children is concerned. - Cassie's godfather is Jack and her godmother is Janet. - Tim and Cassie are childhood friends who act / behave very close to each other, sometimes coming to invade each other's personal space without problems, because they consider themselves brothers (something like twin brothers that were conceived by different parents); although to the exasperation of both, many perceive them as a romantic couple.
As I said, the possibilities before that premise, sustained by those four points, are incredible to consider.
As I mentioned in my previous comment on this idea, it could be that Janet convinced Helena to leave Cassie in the Drake mansion during most archaeological expeditions. This would result in Cassie Sandsmark going, perhaps, to the same school that Tim attended. But the biggest consequence would be that the dynamics in the Batfamily would change because Tim and Cassie, both boys without father figures and only possessing a healthy maternal figure in their lives, would train Batman's life together. Bruce Wayne would adopt the two as his children (although not in an official way at first). And this would also cause Tim and Cassie to have more older siblings in their lives willing to protect / help them (Diana, Donna, Dick, Babs, Jason, Cassandra, etc). Perhaps Bruce would even remove the prohibition of goals in Gotham by the union between Tim and Cassie (or Bruce could also slightly distort that rule to only allow a Metahuman in the city, that is, Cassie Sandsmark).
I can also imagine that Cassie accompanied her godparents and Tim to the circus and also witnessed the death of Dick's parents. And, from that night, seeing how Batman helped that boy who had been so kind to Tim and her, Cassie would consider her favorite heroes to be Wonder Woman and Batman (both occupying the same place). The same goes for Tim. Although I think Cassie could also feel a real fascination for Catwoman since, in case you did not know, in the comics, from the New 52, Cassie's origin included a fact that makes the young woman identify with Catwoman very easily: the robbery. On each archeological trip he was traveling with his mother, Cassie effectively stole what he wanted to take from each city without being stopped. In short, a white-glove thief.
Can you imagine Tim and Cassie exploring the streets of Gotham together and following Batman, Robin and sometimes Batgirl without the aforementioned heroes noticing? Can you imagine Tim and Cassie trying to solve the identities of all the members of the heroic community after having effectively discovered the identities of the Batfam back then (Batman, Agent A, Nightwing, Robin and Batgirl)? They would be a true power couple that everyone should fear when they get into the heroic world.
Also, in a world supported by that premise, it would make Cassie, yes or yes, accompany Tim on his journey as Red Robin. After all in this world (unless you use another idea that I launched before hiding his friendship to almost everyone except for Kon and Bart), Bruce is Cassie's father because they would both feel it that way and at first by association with Tim. I can imagine Cassie perfectly leaving behind her mantle as Wonder Girl, passing it for example to Lyta Milton (the daughter of Ares and Circe and the only Amazon that comes to mind that is close to Damian and Jon), and adopting a name own of a bat or a bird. The alias I have used in drafts of other stories to give Cassie an identity is Sunangel (genus of hummingbirds, Heliangelus, found in montane South America), but if you don't like Sunangel you could think of any other name related to bats or birds.
I imagine Ra's al Ghul training Tim and Cassie intrigued by how well the two young men fight together. And, in the end, when he discovered the whole story of both young people together, deciding that he would train Cassie to be the right and most reliable hand of the person he was already training to become his heir (Tim). Perhaps Tim and Cassie ended up knowing combat techniques that were only known to Ra's al Ghul.
Surely, you should write a story, centered on Tim Drake and Cassie Sandsmark, with such a premise. You are good, quite, writing stories. And it would be an honor to read a story with this premise written by you.
P.S: I hope it doesn't bother you that I have answered you with all the possibilities that you would write a story based on this premise. Especially since this answer is quite long. But what can I say, I was very excited to imagine all the possibilities. Regarding your comment about being new to the fandom, you don't have to worry. It's hard to keep track of the world of comics. More difficult to catch up on some characters. There can always be something you forget and that is absolutely understandable.
Isogcjvdjgib I think I'm having a stroke. I love this idea!!! I will be writing this as soon as I read up on Cassie. I actually think I need this in my life.
