I love the nerd scientist universe so much... I waited a long time to write that chapter. The next one too.
The Corpirate was an interesting one, I started the chapter and went, wait, the Corpriate doesn't have anything against Geoff. The initial chapter outline was more heist-y. But why would Geoff need to sneak in? OHOHO here's a new side to the Corpirate I get to explore. He's still a dick, but yeah, you hit the nail on the head about all these alt-characters. They are all the same lovable assholes with differences. (Not that the Corpirate is lovable like our Fakes but you know)
I use they/them for the alien but I did start with it. Using it certainly emphasises it's not human but I also thought it was rude.
About to have all the businesses in NSW shut down, schools closing, so it'll feel like that tomorrow. At least I'll have more time to work on this? I was lucky to get toilet paper, they're hoarding it here. Hope your situation is better.
