    very interesting take on the whole "characters watch the show" trope, I'm into it!! especially cuz everyone loves some light angst about seeing a dear friend being hurt and being unable to do anything about it >:)

      I first came across the pain factor idea in the 'In Dreams' series by Rosimae for the Percy Jackson series, and it is a part of the Truth Revealed FMA fanfic too (https://betsybugaboo.tumblr.com/post/178793721706/truth-revealed-fallen-crestpdf). Like you said, I love the extra level of angst it gives. Because it is one thing to see an image of someone you know being strangled, like Izuku was in this chapter, but that's not nearly as bad as seeing the image and also being able to hear and see how much pain the actual person is in because of it.
