    The scene in X-Men: The Last Stand where Pyro claims that Charles was holding mutant-kind back and Erik just turns to him and says "Charles Xavier did more for mutants than you'll ever know. My single greatest regret is that he had to die for our dream to live," is one of the best in the films. That's the kind of energy (along with the metal X Erik spikes into the ground to stop Apocalypse from getting to Charles in, well, Apocalypse) that I feel this world/timeline has where they're concerned.
