        I actually know a lot of people who feel how you do. I think the most important thing is respecting how your partner feels about it. I've known couples who had opposite opinions, and somebody gets hurt because the one who sees it as commercialized does nothing for the one who loves the day. I always try to do something special or make something for my kids/family. I personally do like to get something small, even if it's homemade, just as an acknowledgement. I love what they did in this story, making placemats and writing love notes on them, along with a special family dinner. To me, that's perfect. It says I love you without spending a fortune.
