bruce is the worst type of self-martyr. i think i read a fic somewhere that gave me this idea, but i find that bruce tends to adopt a kid, try not to care about them, care about them anyways but not really show it, and when something bad happens/they die he's all like "i should never have gotten close" and "pulling myself away from everyone who is also grieving is my punishment for my sins" and just stacks it on to his previous trauma and never does anything about it. which is. dumb as fuck buddy death via vigilante activities is not an inevitability you need to wait for in order to further justify your cause, asshat

I'm kind of huffy about all of it because Bruce is paranoid because Ras/his parents sudden murder whereas Tim is surrounded by people who attack him. I straight up wouldn't trust Bruce over anything, I wouldn't trust Dick anymore, Jason (that's complicated) but still. Cass attacked him. Lady Shiva keeps coming after him. Steph went after him and still picks at him. Cassie believed Dick over him. Damian. Ras. Talia. Which Bruce doesn't seem to give a shit about. I'd be a super villain already. Tim should have become the Blue Beetle. He could be partners with Jaime with Ted as a mentor.
The best part of the arc for me was Batman in prison and he's slipping the BW mask bc all the criminals (this is his thoughts in the comic) and he stares down an inmate and the guy is freaked and the dude next to him is like hey you were stares down by Bruce Wayne, haha. Years later in the Robin comic, Tim is pissy abt something and goes into the bathroom at his school in like a sweater set or some shit and glares at two dudes doing a drug deal that are clearly way bigger than him and they very calmly get the fuck out immediately. That's my fav Bruce Tim comparison.

I like Dick (the character) (always funny) but it's hard for me to overlook a lot of his behavior. RR especially. People focus hard on the replacement thing but I care more about the other shit he pulled. Imo making Damian Robin was creepy. It justified his superiority complex and did Dick develop 14 kinds of amensia? He was a huge bitch about Bruce firing him, like deserved but look how he treated Jason and how Jason reacted. Tim trashed a room. He didn't spend a year fighting with Dick over it or slit Damian's throat. Dick acted like he was doing Tim a favor while also expecting a 16 to prop him up. Then Jason woke up at the end of October so he actually lost six months. Then he woke up. In a comaish for six months. On the street three to six months. With Ras for six months. In the pit. Yeah, the two years thing is probably accurate given timeline and the like. I think it's just hard to tell because Roy is like 28? So Jason seems older with all the people he hangs out with.

I don't think that's why Dick adopted Damian. I think that's what defined his relationship with Tim and then with Damian.
