And now we've reached the Infinity War. Thankfully all the Avengers are on the same side. They may be split as a team, but they are NOT split as a family.
It was good - and somewhat surprising - to read that the Accords are still be ironed out and Thaddeus Ross is dealing with his own fallout from them. I was pretty irritated to see Ross show up at Tony's funeral in Endgame. I get due to the dead, but it felt so jarring to see him there. Maybe the Snap and the ensuing 5 years humbled him? Hard to believe, although I know his daughter was one of the Snap victims so who knows? But I'd have preferred he not be there at all. I'm glad you're giving him a hard time in your story.
Also good to read that the Accords haven't been ratified in the US. Makes sense since they're a cesspool of human rights violations. Although doesn't that mean Steve and the others who didn't sign can at least do Avenger work within the United States? And if not, why? The Accords themselves are so convoluted and it's another reason why I'm anti-Accords.
In the last story, you had Bruce mention he was going to try to solve the mystery of the time-traveling-calm-Hulk. Well, that Hulk met with 2012-Ancient One. The Ancient One knows about the Snap - Professor Hulk had to have told her. She must have told Stephen Strange, right?
Will Spider Man play a role in the Infinity War?
I'm so looking forward to reading your take on IW.
Yes, 100%! They may have had to split up a little physically sometimes, but they still have each other's backs.
Yeah, even just this year shows how slow and incompetent the government can be, so it isn't surprising that the Accords are a) still here, b) still controversial and c) less effective.
No kidding! I don't think we know if Ross survived the Snap, but I don't really care if he got humbled or not. I understand thematically why he was there, but he doesn't really deserve it.
Yeah, I doubt the States would ratify it, they don't ratify many UN accords. (Also that would explain why Peter isn't in trouble during his movies.) I didn't have the Avengers still operate in the States because it felt like kind like a grey area, and I didn't want to just erase everything the non-signers did. (Plus, I feel like they would still be persecuted no matter what they did.
I don't know if the Ancient One would tell Strange, that sort of feels like it is edging into 'time and mystic rules' that she would probably leave alone.
Why aren't your replies to comments showing up for chapter 8 of the previous story? I didn't write my email address down so I have no idea how you responded :(
I'm not sure! But I will copy paste what I said here:
"Wow, I am kind of blow away by this comment. I appreciate it a lot! Part of my inspiration for writing this entire AU was that I really wanted to show that things could be so much *better* in the Avengers were given a real chance to be friends.
That was my motivation going in to Civil War. I wanted to show that they could disagree on the best way to approach the Accords, but they could still be united, and they didn't have to fight so terribly. So yeah, it was a healing process for me too.
Your idea sounds so awesome! It covers all the elements of the movie, but it does it differently, so that we have less divisions among the Avengers (and probably less divisions in the fandom too.)
I'm really glad you found this story therapeutic though! That is really good :)"
