She was a good person at the age of eight, so if she held onto her basic character, it just made sense that the adult Charlie would want to protect the world from what she herself might do.
Every segment was different, because every person is different, and even the same person in a different situation will have different desires and reactions. The fun part is imagining what those might be, and where they can take you.
