Absolutely. And I agree with you. I remember when my kids were little, my husband worked nights and was in school during the day. My kids had special circumstances and unusual backgrounds and behaviors, and I felt so alone. The best thing I ever did was get all of us involved in a community program that provided therapy for all of us. One of the things I was told right from the beginning is that generally, they recommend people ALWAYS have biological kids before they foster, because foster kids come with so many issues and if you haven't parented before, you're going to think it's because of you. I've learned over time that we all tend to think whatever is going on with our kids, we are the only ones with that issue. Having support is SO important. IMO, the healthiest kids actually DO have a village raising them. It makes for healthier parents, too.
