Comment on praying down a cold fate over us

  1. Aww this was so good! Love the dialogue in this, especially how you use the italics and the humour you've added to it (lol at the "they're lesbo soulmates! Deal with it! "Actually I think I might be bisexual") as well as how you've included the other characters in the elevator.

I have to say I didn't understand half the concepts you've used in the fic (especially details of the other fandom, and the concept of teshuvah/tikkun olam) but that turned out just fine in the end because the way you wrote this was so seamless and engaging that this was still enjoyable to read.

All in all, really glad this is the first contribution to the Cassie x Lisa ship (they explored their relationship so well in the movie, but they could have gone all the way with the soulmate thing 😭)

Thanks so much for writing and sharing this with us :D

    1. Thank you for your thoughtful comment, it means a lot to me!

The other fandom is a similar concept to Afterlife of the Party, basically a mean girl (Amber) dies and needs to make things right in order to go to heaven by making an unpopular girl win prom queen. It's a fun chick flick and honestly the relationship between the two girls also gives me femslash vibes. Supervisor J-3 is Val's equivalent in that universe.

Put simply, tikkun olam is the Jewish concept of repairing the world by doing good deeds, something that all Jews should do, and teshuvah is the Jewish concept of repentance for sin, and literally means returning (to the path of righteousness). It consists of confession, repentance and vowing to not repeat what you've done. I wrote this during the Ten Days of Atonement, which is a period of 10 days during the Jewish calendar where you're supposed to do teshuvah for sins you committed during the previous year. So that's why I included those concepts :) Hope that clears that up somewhat for you.
